You know what get’s me..

Besides the fact that she shot a deer barely bigger than Bambi there is not even a shred of doubt as to whether or not she should NOT shoot this animal.

Hey, believe me.. I am all for eating meat and I cannot help but to look at a big cow and think of a big juicy steak but this person looked at a rare animal in it’s young stages of life.

You know for a fact that a person from PETA would have been standing in front of the albino Bambi themselves protecting it (if they could) because those who worship nature and animals do what they do because that is what they do.

On the other side of the spectrum you have a people that are guided by the ration that because it is good for food that it is to be killed without even thinking ‘you know.. I should let this one grow to adulthood’.

But that would mean that we would exercise restraint and we cannot do that in America! (sarcasm added)

Bill Stanoski   November 5th, 2007 - 12:14 pm

Harlan, did you pass High School?

Lina   November 5th, 2007 - 12:23 pm

I agree with Bill: Did you even finish high school Harlan?

Albino animals are both rare and beautiful. And to shoot it as so young of an age robs the world of yet another fascinating creature created by nature. We should be appalled by this woman who SOUGHT to kill it because it was so rare.

She should be ashamed of herself.

Wally   November 5th, 2007 - 12:24 pm

Bill,
Harlan had an opinion. What was your comment?

Mick S.   November 5th, 2007 - 12:24 pm

Yeah, wow, this is a pretty admirable accomplishment. I’ve never been anti-hunter or hunting, but stupid people like this make me sick. A rare animal, so let’s mount it on the wall. What a stupid woman…

P.   November 5th, 2007 - 12:24 pm

What a shame: such a gorgeous, rare creature killed by a totally common, wholly unattractive woman.

DAVE   November 5th, 2007 - 12:25 pm

How nauseating to see this animal destroyed,
I’d feel less traumatized if that woman were hit by a drunk driver.

Joe   November 5th, 2007 - 12:25 pm

It was exciting to see such a rare animal, but even more thrilling to kill it!!!

pardon me while I go puke

madcow   November 5th, 2007 - 12:26 pm

Bill, your criticism of Harlan… does it have a point?

I’m a red-blooded meat eater. I already shot my doe this season (and processed it myself). I would never shoot such an extraordinarily rare deer. I’ve shot about three bucks in my life, probably won’t shoot them anymore. I shoot deer for food, not a display trophy. This woman without a doubt is a hillbilly thinking “I’m gonna shoot something that no one in my extended family has ever seen, or ever will see.”

I agree with Harlan in that there is absolutely NO restraint left in our culture. From cell phones in movie theaters to simple every day common courtesy to passing on an excruciatingly rare deer for a bigger doe (or buck) with more meat. She did it for money and fame, and guess what, she got it.

Darn, we’re going to heck in a handbasket.

Schratboy   November 5th, 2007 - 12:28 pm

The allure of an albino animal hanging on the library wall was apparently too much.

Tim   November 5th, 2007 - 12:29 pm

Look! Something beautiful and unique…

KILL IT!

I don’t understand why anybody is surprised by this, we Americans kill/destroy everything that is unique. We’ll only be happy when everything is the same/average.

Thank god my opinion isn’t unique.

Daisy   November 5th, 2007 - 12:30 pm

Disgusting. Spots a rare animal, and her first thought is to KILL it? What a scuzzy, lowlife of a person.

carlos mencia   November 5th, 2007 - 12:31 pm

This woman…

de de de !!!!!

brianbb   November 5th, 2007 - 12:31 pm

Sickening.

It’s heartbreaking, both for this animal and society at large.

I’m a meat eater but when you take delight in killing animals for sport…it’s like karma, it just isn’t good.

I wish someone would shoot this Philistine. Cut her ugly head off and mount it on a wall.

Sparky   November 5th, 2007 - 12:32 pm

This the WRONG example of responsible hunters everywhere. I’ll bet 99.9% of the hunters in the United States are disgusted by this act. What a selfish stupid act this woman committed. Please don’t judge all hunters by this idiot.

to schratboy   November 5th, 2007 - 12:33 pm

ha ha ha… You think she has a library wall on which to hang it. Maybe a couple of shooting mags laying around, but I doubt there are any books in her house.

yo   November 5th, 2007 - 12:35 pm

“Minn. Woman Shots Albino Deer”? who posted this, an illiterate third grader?

matt cox   November 5th, 2007 - 12:35 pm

Albinisim is a result of inbreeding, Taking the damaged genetics out of the gene pool will help the herd in the coming generations. It’s nature not a Disney movie… twits.

Ender   November 5th, 2007 - 12:36 pm

Why on earth would anybody want to shoot that thing? Food? Apparently not. Humans are truly the cruelest species on the planet. We destroy everything around us and kill each other with no respect for the miracle of life. Intelligence is completely wasted on us.

Greg   November 5th, 2007 - 12:36 pm

As per normal the reactionary tree huggers want to let a dear live that is going to be suseptable to skin cancer. Culling that dear out of the herd was an act of stewardship.

It is the OTHER , OTHER white meat!

Marvin Gardens   November 5th, 2007 - 12:38 pm

What an idiot! That deer was practically a baby, and now, thanks to this fool, it’s species is one step closer to extinction. She should be fined heavily and serve some jail time.

thromulese   November 5th, 2007 - 12:38 pm

Something different, something rare, something living

Quick kill it.

Sad, very sad.

I have no problem hunting for food. But to kill something to put on a wall because it is rare is simply disgusting. She seems overjoyed and proud; she doesn’t even understand what she has done.

christopher wright   November 5th, 2007 - 12:39 pm

and the pc wonder in their twisted unclear minds where stereotypes eminate from – what an ill-educated HILLBILLY most assuredly to prey on something so unique – god forbid she has offspring…

T   November 5th, 2007 - 12:39 pm

uneducated goof just doesn’t get it…it will now even be more rare without the gene pool. chump. Just think, she did us all a favor.

Mark Abernathy   November 5th, 2007 - 12:39 pm

A vile woman with a rotten heart. Tragically, she is one amongst millions in this country who think as she does. Could she be any more disgusting?

bogrunner   November 5th, 2007 - 12:40 pm

this woman is an idiot.she is what gives hunters a bad name.

HB   November 5th, 2007 - 12:40 pm

This woman is a total idiot. It is too bad the news media even covered this story.

Mike   November 5th, 2007 - 12:40 pm

I to have been a hunter all of my life, growing up on 18,000 acres in Northern California. It is a shame for a fellow hunter to simply kill something because they can. True hunters see an animal like this a leave it alone to live for other non-hunters/hunters to see. What is even worse is that she removed this genetic trait from being passed so that now there is even less of a chance for any future generations to see something so majestic. I bet she shoots baby animals too, she seems the type.

evelyn victor   November 5th, 2007 - 12:40 pm

She should be proud of her tremendous achievement. It exemplifies the tremendous qualities she has as a person it illustrates the wonderfulness of her guiding principles in life. Now if she can just bag a California Condor and get spotted owl to add to her list of feats her name will be cherished forever. All we have to do is round up all the people that truly salute her achievement and we’ll take a big step towards solving a lot of our social problems…er…after we figure out what to do with them.

Royce   November 5th, 2007 - 12:40 pm

I agree with these comments. This idiot gives hunters everywhere a bad name. Way to rob everyone else the enjoyment of catching this deer in nature. Plus, what a shock, she is going to try to sell it to Cabellas. What a selfish *****.

John Smith   November 5th, 2007 - 12:41 pm

totally pathetic. i’d much rather see an expose of the deer shooting this woman.

CRAIG   November 5th, 2007 - 12:42 pm

MMMMM-Yum . . .Now go serve it up to your family.
Shame, shame shame! The unbelieveable part is that this lady has no idea what is did. She was all smiley and proud of her horrible sin against nature.
I only wish we could have a hunting season on people like that. Craig from Michigan who believes in hunting, but not just for sport.

Neoshake   November 5th, 2007 - 12:43 pm

“Well, I heard there was this rare, precious thing that God created that might be in the area and I just couldn’t wait to get out there and destroy it. I’m just thrilled. Next I’m going to take an axe to the Mona Lisa!”

twits   November 5th, 2007 - 12:45 pm

Albinism has very little to do with inbreeding. Its caused by a recessive gene that must be carried by the male and female, and still has a small chance of being exhibited. Yes, the deer had a small chance of survival without natural camoflauge, but “culling” it to somehow preserve the herd is a foolish comment.

kevin   November 5th, 2007 - 12:46 pm

a rare sighting would be her or i am sure any of her family members near the salad bar. mount this.

Mike   November 5th, 2007 - 12:46 pm

All this worrying and fussing over a deer. Yes it is sad to see one less rare albino deer and it is too bad that it was taken by a hunter. The mentality behind the kill also leaves something to be desired but man look at the fuss over a deer.

I’ll focus my attention on unborn children being slaughtered piece by piece with a suction catheter, until all that is left is a head which is crushed by a pair of polyp forceps and then sucked out down the sharp suction catheter with the rest of the “waste”. When that is stopped, maybe then I can spare some brain cycles to worry about the plight of rare albino deer.

Alex   November 5th, 2007 - 12:46 pm

I love you animal wakko’s. Some of you would love to kill this woman just because she shot a deer. It is a giant rodent, they breed like crazy, who cares if it was an albino, it’s still just a deer. You libs will use any angle to whine and cry about ANYTHING. If you don’t like hunting then DON’T HUNT, but that is just too simple for you libs isn’t it? Maybe one day someone will whine and cry about something you love and then perhaps you might begin to understand….

BTW: Make fun of my background and schooling all you want, since it is the only way you libs fight back anyway. L8

Lou Baskin   November 5th, 2007 - 12:47 pm

It was shocking to see this idiot woman talking with such pride and joy about hunting and destroying this rare and beautiful animal. It was difficult to watch her talking about it. Too bad there are no laws to protect the rare and beautiful from creeps like this. Would love to see her in jail for a time , fined heavily and any hunters license denied her for life. [ for starters ]

Rex   November 5th, 2007 - 12:48 pm

What the hell is the matter with these people? Here’s a woman that breaks one of God’s commandments – Thou Shalt Not Kill. And blows a hole in a beautiful, rare creature and they have her on the news like a hero?! And what for? So she can sell it and make a quick buck? (no pun intended) She’s certainly got her morals in the wrong direction.

We need a civil war so we can set these folk straight!!!

Ron Tough   November 5th, 2007 - 12:49 pm

The deer is an easy target for predators because it is all white. I’d rather see it shot by a hunter as opposed to being slowly devoured by a predator animal like a Lion or Cheetah or Tiger. Oh wait, those animals don’t live in MN. This lady is stupid.

Veritas   November 5th, 2007 - 12:50 pm

To rob nature of a beautiful animal like that is just disgusting.

Mike   November 5th, 2007 - 12:50 pm

Rex –

Thou Shall Not Kill is using the word that essentially describes murder. This does not say that killing animals is wrong, it does not even say that killing a person in defense is wrong. It is referring to the murder of another human.

I don’t believe this story questions her morals. Maybe it questions here “Hunter’s Ethos” but not her morals.

manechevitz   November 5th, 2007 - 12:51 pm

This is a woman that would have killed the last animal of its kind to extinction. I try to have compassion for everyone but I find my blood boiling just looking at her gleeful face. She seems to have absolutely no respect for the dignity of life. Let’s hope this event impacts her life significantly. But it’s a horrific shame such a rare beautiful animal had to be killed in the process…

Fred   November 5th, 2007 - 12:51 pm

You have to ask yourself, why is an albino deer rare? The answer is, in Nature’s terms, it is rare because it is defective.

If there were a decent number of natural predators left white Bambi would have been lunch at an even earlier age. This woman just did what a wolf would have, should have, done.

The explosion in the deer population has lead to the increase in deer/car collisions. In the 1980’s, the deer population was approximately 10 million. Today, there are more than 25 million. Losses due to deer and car encounters will only increase as the deer population continues to grow and urban habitats encroach upon rural environments.

State Farm estimates that 1.5 million vehicles collide with deer every year, resulting in 150 motorists deaths and $1.1 billion in vehicle damages.

Spidey   November 5th, 2007 - 12:52 pm

She only shot a deer. It isn’t human. Some of these wacko’s that are anti hunting are pro abortion. That sounds wacky to me.

evelyn victor   November 5th, 2007 - 12:53 pm

I wrote my first comment before viewing the video. Now that I’ve seen it and see the expressions on her face I feel more saddened for her than anything. This event and the attendant publicity is going to brief much grief into her life I suspect. There was a dumb innocent quality about her that makes me realize she is probably as much a victim of her culture as anyone. No doubt surrounded by approving men who make her feel good in the same way it happens as they slide their hands inside the blouses of young girls who only want to please and be accepted.

Many are they whose attitude towards eating any kind of meat look upon the scorn of us meat eaters towards the killing of one albino deer as equally preposterous and foolish.

I think before this is over the woman will be punished enough for her transgression. Ignorance is forgivable.

Tony   November 5th, 2007 - 12:54 pm

Hunt with a camera, pictures last forever.

D Leone   November 5th, 2007 - 12:55 pm

As usually the animal loving people hating weirdos have it all wrong. First, being albino may be rare, but it’s only a deer. Yes it would be a trophy to any hunter and no hunter would let it grow up big and strong. Dopes.

Second, it is a 6 point. It is not a baby, which, btw, are called fawns. There are no such things as 6 point fawns. There is a reason why it looked so small. Probably a genetic defect. Mn isn’t known for miniature whitetails.

You jerks don’t even know that much.

Chilly Bill Smith   November 5th, 2007 - 12:55 pm

Okay, first things first, we as a human race are cannibals, we evolved to eat meat just like any other cannibal on the planet. Would one jump up and down if say a wolf killed this deer?

Just making the point, if one kills an animal to eat it then it would be considered acceptable based on the fact above.

Now if this woman just shot this rare deer because she wanted the attention or monitary rewards for it then it is ABSOLUTELY wrong.

dylan   November 5th, 2007 - 12:55 pm

bummed

Randy   November 5th, 2007 - 12:57 pm

All you people who are sad for the prey, be at east, I say. The deer was white, it was plain in sight. There was no other way.

Allen   November 5th, 2007 - 12:58 pm

It is estimated that 450 million deer are runing wild, with this increase of deer population many more car collisions will occur causing the antlers to penetrate windshields putting children at risk. AAA estimates that the increase of the albino mule deer are the greatest risk since in the daylight they are harder to see and therefore State Farm insurance recommends killing all light colored Deer or any animal greater that 50 pounds. And that is a fact!

Tori   November 5th, 2007 - 12:58 pm

REDNECK FUN!!!

Let go kill sumtin’!

Gross.

I wish we could get rid of all the rednecks and whitetrash in this country. That wouldn’t solve ALL of our problems just 98%.

Mark   November 5th, 2007 - 12:59 pm

Well, I’m anti-hunter myself – seems to me, if you like the sport of the hunt, get yourself a 0-magnification camera mounted on a rifle-arm (if that’s your bag) and go for the clearest, closest shot you can. It is a real shame … I feel much the same way about most sports. Being a former martial artist who works out virtually daily, I fail to see the challenge in such things. Furthermore, being a vegetarian in better shape than almost everyone I see who works for a living or not, we really don’t ‘need’ to hunt, let alone eat meat. Don’t get me wrong, as a former meat-eater, I LOVE the taste of meat. I’m like Doctor Doolittle – a reluctant vegetarian. If we just ate things because it tasted good, we’d be no better than most of the people in Asian.

Carol from IL   November 5th, 2007 - 12:59 pm

You dont even have a use for it but just heard it was in the area so you shot it. Now maybe you can sell it!!??? Where is the logic and respect for nature, especially a rare and beautiful, helpless creature. Bravo, what an accomplishment! You make me sick.

Mark   November 5th, 2007 - 1:00 pm

Well, I tend to think getting rid of liberals, politicians, and most lawyers would solve 98% of our nation’s problems.

Nellie5932   November 5th, 2007 - 1:01 pm

The woman’s a hateful hillbilly.

Minnesota Pig   November 5th, 2007 - 1:01 pm

We’re coming to get you “Minnesota Woman”. Soon you’ll be spending time with Michael Vick.

Jim   November 5th, 2007 - 1:02 pm

She had a permit and is a predator, like ALL the rest of us “meat eaters” [if we weren't supposed to eat animals, they wouldn't be made of meat]. An albino deer, like just about any other living deer, would MOST likely have fallen prey to some predator at some point in time, and likely a lot sooner than most! Naysayers are also predators, even the ones who only rip the heads off carrots. If you want something to be preserved, preserve it yourselves.

Mike   November 5th, 2007 - 1:02 pm

Tori -

Define rednecks and whitetrash. Also can you please explain what problems “getting rid of” people would solve? You are saying that about 98% of our problems could be solved.

I think you have a wonderful idea, I mean you have a way to make the majority of our problems dissapear. You have piqued my interest, so please share with us the plan and formula so we can begin to petitition our elected representatives in government and fix this nation.

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Walter F. Wouk   November 5th, 2007 - 1:02 pm

The bottom line is: she killed it ’cause it was fun;
which is why most folks hunt, though they rarely admit it.

Allen   November 5th, 2007 - 1:02 pm

We should kill all people named Tori. That would solve about 97% of our stupidity problem.

Mark   November 5th, 2007 - 1:03 pm

I betcha if the deer was black it would be on the front-page of the NYT.

James   November 5th, 2007 - 1:04 pm

Chilly Bill Smith I hope you meant carnivore and not cannibal. She did the job the preditors would have done if many were still around. Herds do need to be thinned whether we like it or not. We don’t have the preditor population left to do that for us anymore.

Jim   November 5th, 2007 - 1:05 pm

Nellie5932 – can’t think of anything constructive to add so you attack hillbillies? You must be a stupid yuppie with more money than brains. Don’t you get that behind MOST hunting is the NEED to eat, and that MOST hunters also eat the product of their efforts? Food does NOT come from a grocery store – ask the starving in the third world where they scratch theirs from when it isn’t coming in on a C-3 transport jet from USA.

Tootsie's Mom   November 5th, 2007 - 1:06 pm

This situation was totally taken out of context. If there were no human hunters, natural predators would have taken this animal down a long time ago! And not gently either. The creature would have been run down, disabled, and eaten alive! This forum is showing incredible ignorance of the predator-prey relationship. Anyhoo, for those who hunt, no explanation is necessary. For those who don’t hunt, no explanation is possible.

Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 1:06 pm

Most of you have no clue what you’re talking about.
This women did the deer herd a favor.

Deer are very dependent on there color being brown, it’s blends them into their surroundings.

letting this one live, means it will further perpetuate that gene.

Deer are NOT supposed to be white.

it’s “rare” for a reason, because it’s NOT supposed to be that color.

weather you like it or not, humans ARE predators.
if you want to deny that then that is your business, but don’t push your beliefs on others.
THAT makes me sick.

congrats to this fine lady for harvesting a fine animal.

Jolly Charles   November 5th, 2007 - 1:06 pm

It was a deer in the witness protection program. It was dyed white so people would think it was a sheep. Unfortunately it still grew antlers.

Eric   November 5th, 2007 - 1:07 pm

Dumb WHITETRASH HILLIBILLIES…

Hunting is probably one of the most cowardly sports around. Right next to dogfighting. Bunch of inbred hicks.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a story on her crashing her car while trying to avoid a deer on the road.

Josey2006   November 5th, 2007 - 1:07 pm

Nothing like the joy and thrill and going out into nature and killing some of God’s creatures – for the sport of it. Geeze.

Ted   November 5th, 2007 - 1:07 pm

What an ugly woman, not her appearance, but her soul. Her family, too. Knowing that there was a rare, beautiful creature — and blowing it away with a gun?? I, too, like a good steak, even venison. But to take glee that you just killed a rare animal, for pure sport, is unbelievable to me. I live in the south; I thought people in Minn might know better. Ha! And the news anchors’ comments?? They’re morons, too. And, Bill, you squat when you pee.

Kevin   November 5th, 2007 - 1:08 pm

I am anti liberal….but I will agree with those that say this lady was wrong. I live among many deer and have even had a few run ins with them. I still wouldnt kill this thing. Its something you don’t normally see and it seems like her attitude was that she took it out of an act of selfishness thinking only of herself.

Id much rather see that thing in a Zoo where others could look at it.

Chip   November 5th, 2007 - 1:09 pm

It is not rare as in endangered people, it is rare because, as it has been said above, it is a genetic abnormallity (sp).
A baby? You are showing your ignorance of the animal you supposedly revere…a six point buck is at least 1.5 years old…a baby if you are a human, but not a deer. It was an adult deer…not a baby.

Mark   November 5th, 2007 - 1:09 pm

To be fair, I don’t think most people know what a red-neck really is … it’s used inappropriately, imho – it is supposed to denote hard-working farmer-types who toil in the field with their heads bent who get sunburned on the backs of their necks. However, (all colors of) trash we could definitely do without.

Derek1   November 5th, 2007 - 1:09 pm

I’m a former deer hunter and I am disgusted by this act. She is not a true sportsman. Sad, very sad to kill something so beautiful…a creation of God.

VeganSniper   November 5th, 2007 - 1:10 pm

That head will make a nice trophy to hang over my mantlepiece.

Kudos to the hunting lady for taking careful aim and bringing down the animal.

Lauren G   November 5th, 2007 - 1:11 pm

Congrats sicko, you’ve murdered a deer for sport.
You put the trash in white trash.

Julie Cavanaugh   November 5th, 2007 - 1:11 pm

Just sickening. Truly sickening.

Mike   November 5th, 2007 - 1:11 pm

Wow.

I can’t remotely understand the hatred I am seeing here. Some people care so much about that Deer that I actually wish physical harm or even death to this woman.

As one who is pro-life and believes that the death of unborn children (not trying to be a flamer here, I meane this sincerely) is more gruesome and horrendous than this act, I do not hate the people that perform abortions. I pray for them and hope that they see the light and truth, that they can watch an Ultrasound of an abortion. I also pray that they remain safe, that they can hear about God’s love for them and be saved.

I don’t wish any of them dead. Even one whose heart could be so hardened that they would never change. I would never wish that person to die in a car accident or suffer.

And here are all the folks who obviously care a great deal for animals (which I respect and understand, to a point – humans come first in my world view) and yet they espouse hatred and insults towards those who disagree.

GeneticSense   November 5th, 2007 - 1:12 pm

An albino animal is the result of a mutation and has little chance to live in the wild. Should it be allowed to live and pass on it’s mutation it would only serve to weaken its species with non-camoflagued hide.

Shoot it.

Jim   November 5th, 2007 - 1:12 pm

How fun! Tori wants to “get rid” of people like me… “Get rid of” means KILL you idiot! Who do you propose should do YOUR killing? You’[re just a genocidal maniac who would have SOMEONE ELSE kill anyone who disagrees with your narrow-minded, bigoted, racist, anthropocentric, STUPID view of the world.

Jeff   November 5th, 2007 - 1:12 pm

We could use her as a sniper in Iraq….one shot/one kill. Nice round placement on the deer by the way!!

Allen   November 5th, 2007 - 1:13 pm

They should shove the antlerts up her cooter.

Craig   November 5th, 2007 - 1:13 pm

Can we shoot that woman?

Mike   November 5th, 2007 - 1:14 pm

I meant that they wish physical harm or death. Not I… Kinda changes the message, lol.

Suzi   November 5th, 2007 - 1:14 pm

From ranch country in the State of Texas, where
we raise deer, harvest deer, and are multi-generational hunters: I’ve never been so grossed
out! She doesn’t know or understand enough to even be turned loose in the woods. And, the TV commentators seem to think it was fine, too.
Aaaauuggghhh!!!

Toothless dumb redneck   November 5th, 2007 - 1:15 pm

All the granola snappers that have commented here are just too funny. Let me ask this, if the deer wasn’t an albino would you still be commenting on this woman’s education level, weight and moral background? The truth is your level of concern for animals stops after you make a post in an online forum. The reality is no one does more for wildlife than hunters. Try educating yourselves on the facts before you start typing. FYI, the deer was antlered so it was at least 1.5 years old. Before you run off and say that is a baby, that is considered an adult. Again, education is the key. For the record, I would have harvested it also but I would not consider selling it. The bottom line is each of you want everyone to conform to your own values, that is sad….especially when some of you advocate her death. Have a nice day.

Albino Deer – The Other, Other White Meat

This news report has been brought to you by, BIC Wite-Out

high5apparatus   November 5th, 2007 - 1:17 pm

i want to shoot all the beautiful things

Verbum Caro   November 5th, 2007 - 1:17 pm

I wish to draw attention to those posts which have brought up abortion. While it does not follow that those who object to the killing of this deer would necessarily be in favor of abortion, it does pose quite a problem for those who do object to killing a dear and DO support abortion. Your position seems untenable — especially if you object to killing the deer because it deprives nature or us of a unique and beautiful creation.

In other words, for those of you who object to the killing of the deer on the grounds that it is wrong to take the life of another living being which is so unique and beautiful, I expect you to also oppose abortion for the same reasons. Do you?

Mark writes: “However, (all colors of) trash we could definitely do without.” I suppose that Jesse Jackson – black trash – would fit? How about Hillary-trash? That paragon of filth that passes herself off as a long suffering and therefore STUPID wife of a former president, whose only claim to fame as a fighter for freedom at this point is the blows he suffered from under his desk in the White House… Clinton-trash

Tim   November 5th, 2007 - 1:18 pm

Disgusting … and she is so proud of herself killing such a young beautiful deer…

The irony would be that her children would choke on the meat and die….

I hope some hunter shoots her mistaking her for some trophy pig !!!

Mike   November 5th, 2007 - 1:19 pm

That is a new low for me.. Seeing someone post her address and phone number. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I guess the hatred that I am seeing helps explain the hatred you see in other debates and discussions with some members of the fringe left. I hope you all can relax a little and work past this anger and deep seeded hate you have.

Where did we go so wrong as a society that the life of a deer takes priority over the life and respect of human life? I guess after being a leftist zealot before giving my life to Christ and accepting him as my savior I can see the blinders that most are wearing to facts and truth.

It is really sad to see it manifesting this way. I pray that you all have a good day and I pray that your lives can be blessed, that your hearts can open up to the truth of the Bible and that you can exchange your hate and hidden guilt and anger for the inner peace and joy that came at the cost of Christ’s life in Calvary.

I am done with these comments…

Mark   November 5th, 2007 - 1:19 pm

Well, all I can say is – poor animal. Granted, I’ve never been attacked by a ferocious deer, but I’ve seen a simulated attack in the movie ‘Tommy Boy.’
At least the hunters spare these creatures from being killed by … killing them.
For me, though, this pales in comparison to the intentional killing of the dolphins which occurs annually off the coast of Japan – the same whales which stories abound of their bravery and companionship, saving the lives of sailors and swimmers and even serving our military in times of war.
Well, maybe I’m just too manly to understand picking on ‘weaker’ creatures.

CLARK   November 5th, 2007 - 1:22 pm

“Chance of a lifetime”… What a pathetic life.

Mark   November 5th, 2007 - 1:22 pm

All trash, regardless of color, we could do without. I think I was clear on that point. WTF would I only want to see white trash gone? It’s not the color of the trash, it’s the content. I am NO WAY a fan of jesse jackson or hill clinton. Hehehe, you might have me pegged way wrong – I am Conservative to the core, but I care about animals (maybe I was a Hindu in a former life? ).

Ken   November 5th, 2007 - 1:23 pm

When I was young, we had a couple albino deer running around our hunting grounds, and my dad taught me that albino animals are special, to be respected, under pain of personal detriment for killing one, be it car accidents, health problems, etc.(my dad came from a native american family). He also taught me that there are a lot of ignorant and selfish people in this world who don’t care about anything but their own desires. In the case of the albino buck and doe, the neighbor fit that bill when he shot both of them. Everyone in the valley admired the deer for their beauty and decided not to kill them…except for the neighbor. And if memory serves me correctly, he had a stroke not too long after mounting those deer’s heads in his living room. The point is, nature creates beauty naturally, and some people are jerks, but in the end, what goes around comes around. P.S…that includes WISHING harm on others for things they do that you don’t like

Doo Doo Smooth   November 5th, 2007 - 1:24 pm

…perhaps she has something against albino’s…they sure can scare the bejesus out of the mountain people…all sorts of legends are told about the infamous albino deer….killed a lot of people back in 78…worse than the jersey devil…inspired the friday the 13th movies

John   November 5th, 2007 - 1:25 pm

Number one, I think it is a fallow deer, because a true albino would have a pink nose and pink eyes, altho I know you can’t see the eyes from the pix. Fallow are totally white, exotic deer from Asia, all over the place down here in Texas from getting out of fences.

Number two, having survived a very brutal deer attack two years ago, had 19 punctures and rips all over me, I can tell you that deer are not “bambies”, and are excellent sources of lean meat. I wouldn’t want to hang it on the wall, I would cook all of it and enjoy some delicious meat. I understand why she shot it, but I wouldn’t have done so. I like to let them go, outgrew hunting years and years ago.

Gob Bluth   November 5th, 2007 - 1:26 pm

I see the drudge-loving wingnuts have swarmed in.

Kitty   November 5th, 2007 - 1:28 pm

All I can say is that woman makes me wanna puke. I mean, damn-a rare animal, and so young? Well, I just hope carlos puts her on his dee dee dee list. *notes his comment* and airs it on tv, so the whole world can see what a stupid thing she did. Why didn’t anyone try to talk some sense into that girl before she did it? or did she not tell anyone because she knew how stupid it was?

Audrey   November 5th, 2007 - 1:30 pm

I have never understood how people get enjoyment out of killing a beautiful animal such as a deer, it’s just sickening to me.

Darlene   November 5th, 2007 - 1:31 pm

This woman is a real sick-o! It was her golden opportunity to kill an innocent animal. She is definitely someone that womankind can be ashamed of. I hope she has nightmares of this poor helpless creature stalking her! Shame on you, shame, shame.

Tony   November 5th, 2007 - 1:31 pm

Just to let everyone know..It is illegal to kill an alibino deer in Minnesota.

Shoot, I got bitten by a hamster once, that doesn’t mean hunters would be making the world a safer place by plugging them.

This woman is a complete idiot. But then, most hunters are. They will kill anything, just to kill.

James Allen   November 5th, 2007 - 1:34 pm

Disgusting. It’s one thing to kill animals for food (maybe). It’s quite another to celebrate it as a cult of death event like this ignorant woman does. What a Neanderthal.

monadnock   November 5th, 2007 - 1:35 pm

Too bad that the deer was unarmed!

Mark   November 5th, 2007 - 1:37 pm

“I had heard that it might be in the area, so I thought that here was my chance of a lifetime.”

yes..here is your chance of a lifetime to kill a rare and beautiful animal. What a hero you are. This woman looks like a beast herself. I’d like to see he get down and fight the deer face to face. Your a real hero sitting in a tree, long range with a rifle against an unsuspecting animal.

Someone made the cosmment, “Why didn’t anyone try to talk some sense into that girl before she did it?” Just look at her, does she look like someone you could talk sense into. She looks like your average Red Necked, Uneducated hunter.

For all you IGNORANT non-hunters out there:
A six-point is NOT a baby, but a full-grown deer!!! Venison tastes wonderful, try it sometime. Also, because you do not agree with what the woman did you attack her personal appearance and her intellect. Before grocery stores, how the heck did we feed ourselves???
Hunting, that’s how. This is part of our American
Heritage and you folks malign her because you
disagree with what she did. Take this from a Biologist, Albinism is NOT a favorable trait in nature. There is a reason that 99% or more of animals do not have this recessive gene. They stand out like a sore thumb to predators. Last,
when the deer population gets out of control because PETA, ELF, ALF, and HSUS want to ban hunting and they are sick with disease and infringing on our neighborhoods eating our gardens, then what??? Hunting is a good way to thin the heard and keep the rest healthy. Enough
of the PC crap!!!

Octaman   November 5th, 2007 - 1:39 pm

Also appalling are the mindless news anchors! Stupid mannequins with no ability or liberty to think for themselves. A woman of low IQ destroys a being of priceless value (as long as it remains alive, that is) – and all they can say is – “Neat!”

Ignorance truly must be bliss, but I wouldn’t want to know.

Dave   November 5th, 2007 - 1:40 pm

I can tell from reading the comments that 99.9% of the posts are probably from non-hunters. Albinism in deer (aka piebald) is getting more and more common due to inbreeding. I suggest most people should pick up a few books on deer in the wild and their habits and traits, and read, read, read. You’re not going to win any arguments unless your opinions can be backed up by facts. I think the paper used the word ‘rare’ just to rope in the gullible.

Aby   November 5th, 2007 - 1:40 pm

It was a genetic aberration, it’s good to get it out of the gene pool. What a bunch of tree-hugging idiots posting here.

It’ll make a fine trophy too.

Lucille   November 5th, 2007 - 1:41 pm

Hunting is not a sport!! When the hunted can shoot back with a weapon of equal destructiveness, then I’ll call it a sport.

John   November 5th, 2007 - 1:42 pm

I’m a card-carrying NRA member but this kind of waste is tragic and makes me feel sick. Hunting deer for fresh meat (and fresh air, I suppose) is one thing — I prefer beef myself, but honestly, I prefer the thought of a deer killed by a hunter in the wild over a steer led down a chute. Killing this rare young animal for “sport,” though, is a travesty. The woman is a pure-D idiot.

Janet   November 5th, 2007 - 1:43 pm

Did I hear the moron blond anchor say neat?

bucky   November 5th, 2007 - 1:43 pm

She is living proof that Morlocks are right around the corner. Plenty of dear to shoot. Why shoot a rare albino?

Christopher   November 5th, 2007 - 1:44 pm

The comments left are the only light. The woman lacks sensitivity, compassion, humanity, and any sense of wisdom. One can only hope that it may be a wake up call to some when reading about this incident. The animal was not for food, and there was no sport involved. It was a child and as all children, special. The incident is very, very sad and troubling. One should never take a life lightly.

jsh   November 5th, 2007 - 1:46 pm

What a friggin’ idiot. Shame on her…shame on the news to glorify the accomplishments of a hideously ignorant woman.

Line up for the carma train.

Tired of being PC   November 5th, 2007 - 1:47 pm

A mountian lion or cayote wouldn’t care what color it was! Why should humans. & that deer didn’t care about that rare bug on the plant it ate.

Justin   November 5th, 2007 - 1:48 pm

I have mixed feelings here. First, I am a hunter. I live in Northern Virginia and we have more white tail then birds around here. Just the other day I hit an 8 pointer in my sports car. Anyways, as a hunter I would NEVER shoot an albino deer…NEVER! But I do have to give credit to the excellent round placement, other then that, I was overwhelmed with anger that she intentionally hunting for albino deer. She is NOT a true hunter. She probably won’t even eat a single scrap of that creature and that is truly depressing. She might as well just be killing innocent gorillas in Africa.

Mark   November 5th, 2007 - 1:50 pm

People are ignorant.
Why is hunting such an integral part of American culture?
Mrs. Rakotz, you destroyed a rare and beautiful thing, and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Gene   November 5th, 2007 - 1:51 pm

Wow!!! This freaking woman is actually proud of herself. What a Moron. I’m not against hunting for food, but it is obvious this idiot did not need it to survive. Why can’t we respect nature and not kill for fun. I’m sick about this

josh   November 5th, 2007 - 1:51 pm

did anybody ever think about the fact it is just a stupid animal! God created animals for us to eat. there is no law against shooting this ANIMAL so shut up. I am tired of all of you left wing democrat communists. you don’t belong in this country, take hillary and all of your democrat lackies ans get the hell out fags

phyllis   November 5th, 2007 - 1:51 pm

To kill for the sake of killing is wrong! I felt sick to my stomach at this woman’s arrogance and lack of shame. I can fully understand hunting and eating the meat, that does not seem to be the case here. “I heard it was in the area and I thought this is my chance” I bet she would kill a mocking bird also.

Top of the food chain   November 5th, 2007 - 1:52 pm

I wonder how many people that have posted here have ever been in the real wild….. from what I have read not many (watching Disney does not count).

This deer has a recessive albino genie that makes it harder for it to hide from predators such as bear, wolves, coyotes, and man. Albino deer do not last long in the wild….. I don’t know how many of you have seen how wolves kill, but it is not pretty. If I were a deer I would much rather die from a hunter’s bullet than slowly torn apart by a pack of wolves.

Alberto   November 5th, 2007 - 1:52 pm

An absolute abomination to kill this beautiful animal!

The hunter’s pic in the news could lead to unpleasant consequences for her. I would advise her to apologize asap!

Byron   November 5th, 2007 - 1:53 pm

People are omnivores. We eat both meat and plants. Our teeth are not made to be vegitarians. Both albino and melanistic animals are simply individuals of a species, not a separate species. Different people have different opinions as to what they would do depending on whether they see them as just an individual with different traits or as a uniquely different animal. There are many times more deer than there were in the 1700’s because humans displace other predators in their niches. When we fail to exercise our natural preditorial instincts we create imbalances in nature. Whether we view an albino as “just another deer” or as a “special” deer, and to what degree we do so, is something we will never agree on. Just accept that the lady did not see the deer as something that should not be killed. She saw it as a deer, though admittedly different in color than most. There is nothing sacrd about albinoism or (the opposite) melanism.

Lina   November 5th, 2007 - 1:54 pm

William:

I’ve had venison. Not bad, but a little gamey. The point many of us “ignorant” non-hunters/hunters here is the fact that albinoism is a very rare trait. We, as a species, have a habit of taking in albino animals – because we know it is not natural in the wild and survival rate is very low – and take care of them in facilities and zoos so we can show them off. Would you encourage hunters to shoot albino peacocks? How about albino alligators? I mean, even though they aren’t ‘normal’, we should shoot them, right?

The point is that people are outraged at this woman. This was an animal that should have been taken up and cared for in a zoo so our children and – if bred and the gene continued – our children’s children could see. This rarity (or should I use ‘abnormality’ since some people seem to have a problem with the term ‘rare’) should not have been wasted on a hunter who was more than eager to kill it because it was so rare/abnormal.

RDM   November 5th, 2007 - 1:55 pm

Albino animals are genetically defective. This hunter did her local deer population a favor by removing this animal from the gene pool. It’s amazing how many of you don’t understand ecology, biology and genetics.

Mr. Huntersuck   November 5th, 2007 - 1:55 pm

Was Hillary in Minnesota? Bad karma for the woman who was.

phyllis   November 5th, 2007 - 1:56 pm

To kill for the sake of killing is wrong!! I felt sick to my stomach at this woman’s arrogance. She heard it was in the area and thought it is her chance, To kill something beautiful, I bet she would kill a mockingbird if she saw one!!

Washington   November 5th, 2007 - 1:56 pm

Congratulations on your fine kill woman. I say we line up all the PETA pushers and mow some of them over. Don’t be ashamed for your actions for they’re not as harmful to America and Americans as PETA’s loathful activities.

abby   November 5th, 2007 - 1:57 pm

What a disgusting pig. Wow! You killed an innocent rare deer. You should be SOOO proud. What a sport! Why on earth would she kill such a rare deer?! Gee. What a winner she is. Let’s arm the deer and really make it fair.

jean   November 5th, 2007 - 1:57 pm

You know if it were a MAN who shot this beautiful animal, I would be less disgusted (yeah I know that sounds sexist) But for a WOMAN to kill it and then go on camera about how excited she was, well, its just BEYOND DISGUSTING. Oh yes, I know that SOMEONE would have eventually killed it for the sick appeal of hanging it on a wall, but the fact it was a woman just (for me) makes it all the more horrifying.
I’m not an animal rights freak or a vegan, just a mom who loves animals and feels that this one should have been allowed to live its life in the wild.

Tran   November 5th, 2007 - 1:58 pm

That woman should be hunted and shot like all other “hunters” who hunt for “sport.”

I agree that rednecks are a disgrace. They are like the genetic mutation someone called the albino dear. Rednecks and white-trash are substandard caucasion people. In this country of endless opportunities, especially for white people, rednecks havent evolved over the many generations of being here.

Justin   November 5th, 2007 - 1:59 pm

Albinism (from Latin albus; extended etymology), more technically hypomelanism or hypomelanosis, is a form of hypopigmentary congenital disorder, characterized by a lack of melanin pigment in the eyes, skin and hair (or more rarely the eyes alone). Albinism results from inheritance of recessive genes. The condition is known to affect mammals, fish, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. While the most common term for an organism affected by albinism is “albino” (noun and adjective), the word is sometimes used in a derogatory way towards people; more neutral terms are “albinistic” (adjective) and “person with albinism” (noun). Additional clinical adjectives sometimes used to refer to animals are “albinoid” and “albinic”.

Woohoo!

Did the woman use an automatic or semi-automatic weapon? Does this female have children?

Rubicon   November 5th, 2007 - 2:02 pm

As Dan Akeroyd from Saturday Night Live used to say. “Jane you ignorant slut”. Too bad the rifle didn’t backfire and remove the world of this not so rare uneducated, stupid hick, who thinks its a great opportunity to kill such a beautiful and innocent creature of God. Shame on you. Your actions as a sinner will be remembered on judgement day.

nachomama   November 5th, 2007 - 2:02 pm

Deer are very prolific. Without hunters there would be a tremendous overpopulation of them. Hunters do nature a great service. I know, all of you PETA whackos will surely disagree, but you will disagree with facts if they hit you over the head.

nate k   November 5th, 2007 - 2:04 pm

what better way to respect and revere the mystery of nature and wildlife than to kill one of its most unique. Hunting is completely overrated. The only hunting i will ever support is the kind the american indians did before the gun. Now thats hunting

Ted   November 5th, 2007 - 2:05 pm

I’m typing slowly so the recreational hunters can read this comment, too (…no moving your lips when you read this either, rec hunter!). If one finds oneself in a position that one must hunt to feed one’s family, or maintain said skills to do so, than fine. If, however, one finds pleasure in tracking animals and killing them, than one is sick, small-minded, weak, powerless; someone who needs to kill animals to compensate for one’s own lack of power and/or status in society. Your dink is probably small, too. Just like your indenturedly-challenged “buddy”. (I’ll give you a moment to look that word up.) I note the glee hunters take in pointing about the deer was not a baby; again, rec hunters, you have missed the point entirely. But you’re used to that, I’m sure.

Captain Fantastic   November 5th, 2007 - 2:06 pm

Aiiieee, my soul cries out! When will we learn to kill only the ugly animals?

Teresa   November 5th, 2007 - 2:07 pm

Wow people step back…I would not of shot this deer, but to attack this woman on a personel level is uncalled for and makes me want to support her! I care more for people than animals atlthough I love animals. Get a grip. The woman is not ugly! Stop that nonsense.
I have an idea though…maybe white is a genetic mutation that could help the deer since the predators of past have changed from wolfs, bears, and so forth(I used so forth because I can not spell ecceterra) to cars; white would definitely be more visible to an oncoming SUV.(Im sorry I purposely used SUV to inflame another argument and get folks off the poor womans case)

nachomama   November 5th, 2007 - 2:07 pm

Hey Tran: Why don’t you come down here and kiss my big ole redneck arse. Not all hunters are as you describe. Some, like me, are college educated, upper class, and professional. Clearly, none of these characterstics apply to you.

Pistol Pete   November 5th, 2007 - 2:07 pm

I’m a hunter and though Albino deer are somewhat rare, they happen all the time. The genietics of albino deer aren’t good for the species. That are more likely to be killed by any predator no matter if it’s a man or not. Also, they are more likely to get disease and don’t live as long. The deer probably wouldn’t ever attain a large size.

It’s really not that big of a deal. What’s most interesting are the comments that otherwise educated people make after having a knee jerk reaction to see a dead deer. It’s moronic.

Will   November 5th, 2007 - 2:08 pm

The anchor said she had never see an albino deer…now no one else will either. It’s a symptom of this selfish, childish, I want it NOW !!! society. It’s called self-restraint, which this c u n t obviously doesn’t have because she is genetically defective !!! When I was in the navy, I was was able to see the only albino gorilla in the world at the zoo in Barcelona, Spain…he’s lucky he didn’t happen upon this murderous b i t c h. …her family was ‘excited’ for her???They should have been ashamed…If a dinosaur were to be discovered living in some remote area of the world, the first impulse would be to kill it…..I’m a hunter by the way.

JD   November 5th, 2007 - 2:09 pm

I am all for shooting deer. Blast away, I say.

This one, I probably wouldn’t have minded either, except that the last comment was… she doesn’t have room for it in her house, so she has contacted Cabellas to see if they want to buy it from her….

Ok, So I will re-qualify my comment to say, that shooting deer for meat…awesome. I think if you are hungry, or use the meat to supliment your diet because it is a good lean healthy meat, Spot on Bro!!!

Did she just shoot the thing for the heck of it? Geeze. that is lame.

Truth be told, the reason Albino’s are rare, is because they don;t last long.

They have no means of Camoflauge(sp?) and they are essentially outcasts from the herd. She wasn’t doing anything inherantly evil, and there were better than good chances that preserving it untill it got old would NOT mean that millions of people could enjoy it… My bigger issue is that she is just a crappy steward of wildlife.

Mixed feelings here.

JOhn browski   November 5th, 2007 - 2:09 pm

It is illegal in some states to shoot an albino deer.
Also, many people have a superstitious belief that it is bad luck to kill an albino deer.

CC   November 5th, 2007 - 2:11 pm

WHAT A MORON! Chance of a lifetime? People like this are such a disgrace.

rminva   November 5th, 2007 - 2:11 pm

Stuff like this really stokes my inner vegetarian. Not a PETA fanatic my any means, but there is no need for “just because” hunting.

Ted   November 5th, 2007 - 2:13 pm

My dear Madam “Nachomama”: “Why don’t you come down here and kiss my big ole redneck arse,” you say. And a hunter? Not a surprise. And a self-professed member of the upper class, and educated to boot? Indeed, that is very much a surprise; or, more likely, a very funny joke, I assume? Somehow I don’t think you’re goal of dispelling sterotypes of hunters was quite successful.

JJ   November 5th, 2007 - 2:16 pm

Wow, a fat, ignorant stupid American= not unique, should be shot.

Billy Joe Jim Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 2:18 pm

What a bunch of hipocrites! I guarantee that if any of you were hunters you would not have passed up this deer. And don’t start crying about hunting unless you are a pure vegatarian that does not use any animal products. People who complain about hunting but eat meat or wear leather shoes, coats, gloves or have leather furniture or car interiors are hipocrites of the worst kind! Everyone one of the negative responders here do their own selfish things whether it be in their hobby, work or personal life but just don’t equate it with killing a rare deer. Yeah, just maybe you would have givent this deer a pass, but I bet you are just as selfish in other areas of your life. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

John   November 5th, 2007 - 2:19 pm

Alex…
“You libs will use any angle to whine and cry about ANYTHING. If you don’t like hunting then DON’T HUNT, but that is just too simple for you libs isn’t it? Maybe one day someone will whine and cry about something you love and then perhaps you might begin to understand….

BTW: Make fun of my background and schooling all you want, since it is the only way you libs fight back anyway”

I am a Republican and think this is horribly selfish. It’s not about loving nature, it’s about respecting it and letting others enjoy it.

nachomama   November 5th, 2007 - 2:19 pm

Actually Ted, the typical stereotype that you refer to is, in many cases, very true. BUT, unfortunately for you and the bulk of anti-hunters out there that don’t have any clue what, really, they are opposing, there’s always someone like me in every crowd. I donated more to conservation charities last year than you will make in your lifetime.

derekkuber   November 5th, 2007 - 2:20 pm

Hawk   November 5th, 2007 - 2:21 pm

If shooting a creature as rare as an albino deer is something to be proud of, maybe someone as uniquely ignorant as this woman (alomg with the newscasters that also seem to think this is special) should also be shot and mounted.

Albino killer   November 5th, 2007 - 2:23 pm

We hunt deer to keep the population down since their natural predictors are not welcome (bobcat play with your kids lately?) and as far as this freak goes… sure pretty but what if it were a rare tumor deer? you just like it cause it is pretty. It is harmful to its fellow deer by passing any genes down. read a book!

Bucky   November 5th, 2007 - 2:26 pm

LOL….antihunters bad mouthing somebody for something that they don’t know jack about. That’s a typical stupid American for ya, act like they really know something about something and don’t have a clue.

People would rather see the woman die in a car wreck than shoot a deer? If you value that little deers life more than a human being then I think you need to rethink your beliefs.

PETA = People Eating Tasty Aniamls =)

Boy I think I’ll go home after work and fry me up some good ol back straps!!

gayle   November 5th, 2007 - 2:27 pm

it’s funny to read the Peace Loving liberals trying to equate Human-life with Animals. Some of you libs are actually typing that the Women should be shot. LOL. Do you read what you type before posting it or are you just trying to be comical? Liberals are For killing babies, as long as it’s not bambi. Grow Up Libs. You’re barely funny anymore.

Everybody that wants to see more albino deer around…just put it on the menu at any national chain and there will be all you want. Or any animal for that matter, as soon as you start eating it, there will be many available. mmmmmm…

John   November 5th, 2007 - 2:30 pm

The nerve of the MN woman. I hope she experiences excruciating pain for years on end before she meets her Maker. That will give albino Bambi a modicum of revenge.

Phil Dikeman   November 5th, 2007 - 2:31 pm

In my opinion…she should be jailed!

Tiffany Stevens   November 5th, 2007 - 2:31 pm

Why do Liberals wish death on hunters and unborn babies, but when it comes to bambi……

Joe Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 2:32 pm

DNA is still out there ppl … let the hunter alone.

Joe Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 2:33 pm

So what if she shot a rare white deer, the DNA is still out there !!! GESH !!!

STUPID REDNECK REPUBLICANS   November 5th, 2007 - 2:34 pm

I don’t like hunting and I don’t hunt but I don’t have a problem with responsible hunters. This is clearly yet another case of the bottom feeding scum that infest American culture.
Look at the rare baby deer. I know! Lets kill it and then sell it for some money so we can go buy some more beer! derekkuber, use whatever conveniant excuse you want to obfuscate from the fact that many people in society today have no morals, including people that kill rare baby deers. Maybe this woman is one the the babies that should have been aborted when her teenage mother got knocked up in back of the pickup truck.

Ted   November 5th, 2007 - 2:34 pm

Nachomama – What? I can’t believe you’re so vulgar as to say that because you donate a lot of money to conservation, you’re somehow more informed than me, or anyone else for that matter. You really are a silly woman. P.S. And I wouldn’t be so smug about the money I make “in a lifetime” comment either… Though I’m assuming you inherited or married your money, certainly not earned it.

Arwen   November 5th, 2007 - 2:35 pm

FIRST to all you libs – STOP ABORTION AND THE KILLING OF HUMAN BEINGS, then you can judge/comment about this woman… all I can say is….

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm venison!!

as an fyi – I hunt, too, and, yes, I would have let this 6 pointer walk by – just to watch and marvel; however, sometimes the hunting bug hits hard… you go girl!!

Patrick   November 5th, 2007 - 2:36 pm

The Native Americans believed the occurance of a white animal was a huge sign of prophecy – a sign from the great spirit that a major shift in their world was to come.

Usually, white animals were seen during soul-quests, or vision-quests. However, if one was seen during the normal course of day, this would cause a tremendous ripple among the tribe. A great meeting would be called, the elders would be consulted, and great care would be taken to communicate with the animal spirits to determine the meaning of the message.

Melissa Kimberly   November 5th, 2007 - 2:36 pm

Really, is this suppose to be GOOD News that the women shot and killed a rare and Beautiful creature? Does this women feel proud of herself? s this really a good trophy to look at? She should feel ashamed and I hope Kharma gets her back good for her cruel and murderous decision.

Joe Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 2:36 pm

All I got to type is DNA!

Tony   November 5th, 2007 - 2:37 pm

All this talk about venison is making me hungry…..

nachomama   November 5th, 2007 - 2:38 pm

To all you libs out there,I can shoot an apple off of a person’s head with a bow and arrow from 50 yards 9 out of 10 times. Maybe the tenth time I could put the apple on yours.

Joe Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 2:38 pm

Albinos in combat
One should be careful when walking near a white background for Albinos have been known to trap people. They steal people’s blood to lather on their own skin to make it darker. An unpublished attack of this nature happened when the Olsen Twins walked by a hiding Albino and had most of their blood sucked from their bodies. The incident was covered up as anorexia because no one wants to be known to have been near an Albino

Anonymous   November 5th, 2007 - 2:39 pm

I’m taking note of all the liberals who are saying that the Hunter should be shot. No regard for HUMAN life. i.e. Abortion etc. Liberals would rather take part in a Mass Suicide of Human Beings than to see 1 deer shot. “Liberalism is a Mental Disorder”

brenda   November 5th, 2007 - 2:42 pm

What a crack shot! Perhaps this huntress should be sent to the battlefields of Afghanistan or Iraq then I might be impressed and from her appearance, I assume she didn’t really need deer meat to sustain her own miserable existence.

STEPHANIE   November 5th, 2007 - 2:42 pm

LOL, poor liberals, always on the hunt for something to whine about. LOL

Joe   November 5th, 2007 - 2:44 pm

Rare?! Please… Such crap, in under 10 years i have lived in Western New Jersey, I have had over three of these live and die in my neighborhood. (Deaths all caused by cars)… So Shoot ‘em, run them over, whatever, Animals will die… BTW the albino deers are not beautiful, they look terrible…

steadyrock   November 5th, 2007 - 2:45 pm

She just got the first (albino) buck of the season, and made the front page of the Breitbart Town Gazette!

Joe Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 2:45 pm

Remember Remember the 5th of November!

Hunter   November 5th, 2007 - 2:47 pm

Great job! I wish i could kill a deer like that! If i saw it, i wouldn’t second guess the shot either. Dead deer! All you losers that are talking trash can go F yourself!

Cheryl   November 5th, 2007 - 2:47 pm

I am not an animal activist, but this is so not right. You say, this was a chance of a life time. What? A chance to shoot a very rare deer? I guess I just don’t get the reasoning behind you killing this one of a kind animal. I hope you will be able to explain this one to GOD!

Jillian   November 5th, 2007 - 2:48 pm

If anyone is interested on reading up on the subject, this book is a good one:
A Hunter’s Heart: Honest Essays on Blood Sport
by David Petersen
The biggest point that got me was not that she shot a rare deer but that she decided to sell it because she didn’t have room for it. WTF kind of lame excuse is that? You put the effort into shooting this thing just to show it off, but lost interest almost immediately. Who wins a trophy and immediately hawks if off a the nearest pawn shop? Just a relection of the fleeting and instantaneous gratification that we’re all searching for these days.

mysticpain   November 5th, 2007 - 2:49 pm

What stupid … STUPID … STUPID … come on! I live in MN and am total pro – deer hunting, we need them thinned out … but to shoot a rare 1 out of every 100,000 births beauty … that is so wrong.

Ryan   November 5th, 2007 - 2:50 pm

Hey Matt Cox,
You dumb schmuck. Should we kill people with Albinism too because they have a genetic disorder? Unbelievable

Joe Buck   November 5th, 2007 - 2:50 pm

I dig the cap with the State of Texas she’s wearing. At least she’s a better shot than Dick Cheney.

Billy Joe Jim Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 2:51 pm

Funny how the anti-hunting liberals out there have yet to respond to any of the posts pointing out their hypocrisy. They don’t mind aborting a human fetus, but cry for the blood of a hunter who kills an albino deer. Why do they value animal life over human life? Funny how when called out on their hypocrisy they remain silent. What say the liberals?

Jorge   November 5th, 2007 - 2:51 pm

Actually, all emotion aside, the deer was between two and half and three and a half years old by the size of his antlers, hardly a “baby” by any stretch. Second, albino deer while rare are not that much of an oddity, I’ve seen three or four in 20 years of hunting. They are NOT a protected anomaly and perfectly legal to hunt.

Moroever, albino deer have an extremely low survival rate in the wild because of their color, easily spotted by predators (which by the way, look in the mirror and notice your “eye teeth” and forward looking vision) and are also succeptible to skin diseases.

Sport hunting has been proven beyond all doubt to be a well-reasoned, humane and effective game management tool. There are more deer in our country today (roughly 30 MILLION) than in any other time in our history.

Those are just the hard facts, no emotion. And that deer will fit very nicely right next to the mashed potatoes. jorge

Pat   November 5th, 2007 - 2:56 pm

Thanks Jorge
I agree with you 100 percent

Teresa   November 5th, 2007 - 2:59 pm

I think it is GEORGE BUSHS fault.

Jet   November 5th, 2007 - 2:59 pm

The only thing worse that this hillbilly killing a rare deer (for the fun of it) would have to be the troglodytes on this webpage who are claiming that the animal deserved to die simply because it was an albino.

Krista   November 5th, 2007 - 3:00 pm

Wow, this woman is a moron. Its a rare beauty, so I killed it! I’m losing faith in humanity day by day.

Toothless dumb redneck   November 5th, 2007 - 3:00 pm

skeeter   November 5th, 2007 - 3:02 pm

I had a chance for a 6 pt. white buck in up state N.Y. 25 years ago.I did not even think of shooting him. Some people just have no heart.

Billy Joe Jim Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 3:03 pm

Another observation about liberal debate tactics is that they like to use emotion to control the outcome of a debate rather than facts. For example, calling the deer a “baby” equates it to killing a human baby and we all know that is bad! Or do we, I mean liberals don’t mind killing (aborting) human babies. But that was covered above. As Jorge correctly points out, a 6 point buck is not a baby but rather a young adult. But lets not let facts get in the way of a good debate.

Krista   November 5th, 2007 - 3:04 pm

and hey billy joe jim bob. since when does opposing hunting automatically make you a liberal? i didn’t realize you could draw a line that straight.

Observer   November 5th, 2007 - 3:05 pm

History demonstrates who the true savages are. Hunting is not a sport. Golf requires more skill and athleticism. This is the type of person who supports genocide and resource theft in the name of “democracy.” Thank god its crumbling

r kargen   November 5th, 2007 - 3:05 pm

That is sad and disgusting! I hope this woman doesn’t have any children to pass on this total ignorance of nature and living things. She is obviously not very well educated! People like her are frightening with their disregard for all living things, You don’t kill for sport or fun!

alfie   November 5th, 2007 - 3:05 pm

This story has nothing to do with abortion so please all you conservatives stop changing the argument as you always do when you are losing..I am surprised none of you have brought up 9/11 yet….if a white deer lives the terrorists win??
what does a inbred moronic woman going out of her way to kill a rare animal have to do with abortion? absolutely nothing. this woman is a disgusting idiot and I just pray that she does not have the ability to have children. I really hope she is sterile.

Angry Indian   November 5th, 2007 - 3:06 pm

There sure are a lot of right-wing nutjobs here who want to make this a political issue. It’s not. I’m a liberal democrat, but love to hunt. Still, there’s not much sport in taking down such an easy target. I would have passed on this one.

Jen   November 5th, 2007 - 3:07 pm

Yet another reason why I prefer the company of animals to disgusting human beings like this piece of filth. Hopefully next time she’s out playing her “sport” she’ll be trampled by a herd of deer.

Thomas J Gassett   November 5th, 2007 - 3:07 pm

Albino Deer are rare for a reason … white coats are a death sentence. It’s rare for such a deer to even live long enough to get shot, because it wears a sign that says eat me to preditors. You aren’t protecting nature by not shoot this ‘freak of nature’. It’s a freak becuase it doesn’t belong … it was never meant to be. Stop the tears over a deer that was perfectly legal to shoot, and wouldn’t have lived long enough to produce anyway, and even if it did chances are it would pass its genetic defect to the next generation. Clue: There was nothing worth saving here. If you want to cry over nature … cry over the real thing … not the freaks.

Griz   November 5th, 2007 - 3:07 pm

I stumbled across this by accident. I am shocked to read the vast majority of the comments on here. While I, as a hunter would not have shot this deer, there is nothing wrong with her having done so.

To sit there and imply that this lady should have her head mounted on a wall, thereby implying her own death, because she shot a deer is nothing short of stupidity at it’s worse.

If people want to question her as a hunter then I have no issue standing with you as I, too, question why she wanted to take this particular animal. But to insult her, to state she’s simply a hillbilly, to insinuate that her life is somehow not as valuable as a white deer, is incredibly shallow and hypocritical.

As someone stated earlier, most of you are getting so worked up over this one deer when we have had hundreds of innocent babies killed today alone should showcase where your morals actually lay. In the gutters……

drewas   November 5th, 2007 - 3:08 pm

Enough with the hysteria already! Albino deer are not rare. They occur about 1 in 1000 births and much more frequently within some populations. Furthermore, they rarely survive to more that one or two years because they do not have the natural camoflage of deer and are often driven away from the protection of the herd. They fall prey to cars, disease, coyotes, ferral dogs and, if they are lucky, to a well-placed slug or arrow. As to selling it…well, I was taught to always eat what I killed.

Teresa   November 5th, 2007 - 3:08 pm

If the white deer lives the terrorist win??? I told you it was GEORGE BUSHS fault!

meat-eater   November 5th, 2007 - 3:09 pm

Hunters=cowards. Don’t need to hunt for food anymore. You guys just like killing. Sorry, deal with it.

bk   November 5th, 2007 - 3:11 pm

The people who think that killing this woman is worse than offing the deer should give their head a shake. It’s called culling the herd. Any hunter understands that…

nachomama   November 5th, 2007 - 3:11 pm

I think we need an open season on liberals with no daily bag limit.

JB   November 5th, 2007 - 3:12 pm

She has the right to take that animal in a legal manner and she did. Yes it is a very beautiful animal and should look very nice hanging on the wall next to her Dale Jr memorabilia.

Right Said Fred   November 5th, 2007 - 3:12 pm

I’m surprised she didn’t just run over it with her monster truck.

Carl   November 5th, 2007 - 3:13 pm

I think we can all agree that this deer had it coming. It is encroaching in OUR land and it needs to die. I couldn’t be more delighted.

Dewayno   November 5th, 2007 - 3:14 pm

What a beautiful specimen. I plan to mount one on my wall as soon as I can possibly bag one. It will look good next to the lion.

Billy Joe Jim Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 3:14 pm

Alfie, the abortion issue was brought up because many posters here have called for the ladies head on a platter. Anti-hunters tend to be liberals and liberals tend to be pro-abortion (not choice by the way, softening the meaning with the choice of words is another liberal debate tactic). I am sure there are many anti-hunting conservatives so the abortion issue may not apply to them.

Krista, if you oppose hunting then I sure hope you are a die-hard vegetarian who doesn’t own any leather purses, belts, luggage, furniture, etc or that makes you a hypocrite. If you are a hypocrite, then you have already lost the debate.

alfie   November 5th, 2007 - 3:15 pm

Griz and Thomas you raise fine arguments but that is totally beside the point. This woman did not shoot it because of any of the reasons you gave. She went out especially to shoot a rare animal because she heard it was out there. It wasn’t like she was hunting and happened upon it. She heard a rare animal was around and decided to go kill it for no good reason. She isn’t even going to eat it she wanst to sell it. If this woman had given any of the reasons you guys have given then it probably wouldn’t be such a big deal but because her reasons were pretty much “hur hur I did it cos its rare hur hur” then I am sorry the woman is an idiot. I hope it is against the law and that the law does something about it. She is disgusting.

Lobo   November 5th, 2007 - 3:15 pm

Wether you like it or not, the rest of the herd this animal roamed with a giving a big sigh of relieve. Now they will be able to hide from their natural predators without carrying around a white flag saying “We’re hiding over here!” As rare and beautiful as it may look, it was a determent to the rest of the herd. I do not hunt and have plenty of deer on my property and would not wish to see an albino amongst them.

Toothless dumb redneck   November 5th, 2007 - 3:17 pm

White deer- tastes like chicken!

Carl   November 5th, 2007 - 3:18 pm

Hey, if any of you guys want a good laugh then check out the dolphin hunting in Japan. Stupid dolphins. Well not stupid, but I’m sure glad there dead.

Mike   November 5th, 2007 - 3:18 pm

A couple of brief comments:
1. How nice to see rational, calm news reporting by both anchors. Would never see that in So Cal
2. The deer is rare only in color — albino deer are mutants (not in a bad way, just a biological fact), and the albino is not a “species” of deer.
3. The experts in game management have pre-determined that harvesting that deer was not degrading the population
4. I hope that anyone writing a comment chastising the hunter and crying “poor bambi” is not a golfer — because golfers are the single largest segment of eco-system monsters and habitat haters around! Destroy natural habitat, displace species and sip mint julips!

Justin   November 5th, 2007 - 3:19 pm

This is completely ridiculous, I go hunting for dear, turkey, geese, etc. every year and this story is just sad. You don’t need to be a tree hugging smelly hippie to appreciate and conserve nature. 99 out of 100 hunters would not shoot at this animal. It’s a small 6 point buck for crying out loud. Wait for another bigger animal to pass by. And I highly doubt that Cabelas would purchase this deer, even with the rarity of the pigment, because it’s not really a prize kill.

Crocket   November 5th, 2007 - 3:19 pm

What a bunch of bleeding heart wimps! Thanks God…one less deer to run into my car. Congratulations on a nice albino trophy!

Ace   November 5th, 2007 - 3:19 pm

She’s going to sell it? As chunky as this chick is, I’m surprised she didn’t scarf the poor thing down before getting this video out. Of course, even in a barnyard auction, it will probably bring in many times her monthly salary.

Charlie   November 5th, 2007 - 3:19 pm

She’ll get hers when Wild Hog season opens.

Matteo   November 5th, 2007 - 3:20 pm

Carl, you are an absolute idiot. The killing, check that, the murder of those dolphins is horrifying. The men who killed those dolphins should be castrated then burned alive. Dolphins are beautiful creatures that deserve our protection.

Billy Joe Jim Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 3:21 pm

Justin, where do you get your statistics? Care to point out the source? I believe that 99 out of 100 hunters would indeed shoot this deer. Does my belief make it any more true?

RC   November 5th, 2007 - 3:22 pm

One thing for sure is they are definitely more rare now. This really makes this a whole lot more enjoyable knowing that fact.

Matteo   November 5th, 2007 - 3:23 pm

Seriously Justin, take your lying statistical BS somewhere else. I’m sick of people throwing %’s out their to fortify weak arguments. Get a grip Justin.

Justin   November 5th, 2007 - 3:23 pm

Well if you want to kill it for a mercy killing ya, but it’s just not big enough to really go for.

I love Hillary   November 5th, 2007 - 3:23 pm

Glad she shot it. Freaks of nature deserve to die. Hope she went hunting for any surviving siblings.

Billy Joe Jim Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 3:24 pm

Ok, I have to point out yet another poor debate tactic (also used by liberals) and that is name calling. Name calling along with foul language means you have already lost the debate. Calling the woman fat, a hillbilly, redneck, etc only shows you have nothig to add to the debate except rhetoric and scare tactics. Beating someone into submission with verbal abuse doesn’t mean you are right, it just means that the other person gave up.

Carl   November 5th, 2007 - 3:25 pm

Mattoe you are a stupid tree hugger. I wish I could rip that deer’s jaw off. Crocket is right, who wants to hit one with their car. I wish I had the time to hunt; however, I’m not a mindless mongrel.

Bam   November 5th, 2007 - 3:25 pm

I start killing mammals the day liberal season opens.

Lina   November 5th, 2007 - 3:26 pm

I am disgusted by those who are throwing around abortion to “thicken” the debate.

Honestly, hunting and abortion have nothing in common. Don’t try to create one just for your own moral justifications.

As for hunting, most people (including us libs.) don’t care about hunting. Go ahead and thin out the masses of deer. I get why we do it, I understand the purpose. What I DON’T understand is why this woman sought out this particular animal just to shoot it. Is it genetically deformed, yes. Will it last long in the wild, no. Thus you have three options:
1) Put it into a wild-life preserve so others can enjoy it
2) Let it run off. If its going to die, let it be for a good cause. Let it continue the ‘circle of life’ and feed other wild animals
3) Shoot it for ACTUAL food.

Though I can’t see the actual video – and probably for the bertter – the postings give me a hint as to what it WILL be used for. Decor. And pretty bad decor, to boot. You’d never see it in a Martha Stewart Living magazine. Bad Zen.

Matteo   November 5th, 2007 - 3:27 pm

And you Carl are a moron. Look, all I’m saying is that we need to protect life not destroy it. Women’s Rights are one thing but saving a rare dear is another. That dear should have been spared. All we did is weaken our country.

pennsylvania   November 5th, 2007 - 3:28 pm

Poor Mary, An Albino deer is not that uncommon. Here in Pennsylvania we have many white and partial white deer. However, we also believe that the harvesting of a white deer is a hunters worst nightmare. Mary, you are doomed to severe bad luck and will probably not get another buck for years to come. Please, do not kill an animal for its color.

Ace   November 5th, 2007 - 3:28 pm

Check out Miss Manners… Billy Joe Jim Bob.

People are just telling it like it is. Of course, there is the possibility that YOU watch this video and see a thin, gracious, cosmopolitan lady. I suppose it’s all a matter of perspective.

Carl   November 5th, 2007 - 3:29 pm

Billy Joe Jim Bob is a fool. I couldn’t agree more.

Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 3:30 pm

What in the hell does this have to do with being liberal or a conservative…. The woman is just plain down stupid and heartless

Alex   November 5th, 2007 - 3:30 pm

What a disgusting human being! In addition to her disregard for animal life, she is seeking monetary gain for what should put her in jail. Why, if this animal is rare, is it not on the endangered species list. She deserves to be punished, not to be heralded on television. Those newscasters deserve to be fired too. I am so glad I am not a part of the sick culture where these people are from. I suspect the entire area is inbred.

Thomas J Gassett   November 5th, 2007 - 3:31 pm

When you see a white deer, especially one as old as this, you should cry over the fact that the preditors that keep this deer herd strong aren’t around. What this means is genetic defects and all sorts of disease are on the rise becaue the herd is unheathly. You need preditors to keep the herd strong, and when there are no natural preditors man MUST take their place. If not, the herd will die out.
If there was a healthy population of preditors this deer would have been killed shortly after it was born.
Rare doesn’t mean it should be preserved. All genetic defects are rare, and that’s all a white deer is … a defect. It’s not the beauty of nature … it’s a sign that nature is screwed up.

Carl   November 5th, 2007 - 3:32 pm

Alex, your aloof attitude fools no one. The lady just shot a dear. WHO CARES!? The redundancy of these arguments are infuriating. It is a dear. It is a dear. You probably have 450 of them with in a mile of you.

LC   November 5th, 2007 - 3:32 pm

If someone is against hunting altogether, fine. That is their personal belief and while I may not agree, I can’t fault their consistency if it pertained to all animals.

What gets me is those that are getting their panties in a bunch because they shot an albino deer. It’s like “screw the brown ones, shoot as many as you like, but how dare one shoot one that has a genetic defect that prevents color from forming in the hair follicle”.

That is the most absurd logic. Admonish her because she shot one that is subjectively viewed as beautiful and rare? That is just plain foolish.

LetFreedomRing   November 5th, 2007 - 3:33 pm

It was this lady’s right to hunt, and I applaud her choice. The sport of hunting needs more female participation. Where are the feminists who will stand up for Mary’s rights? Are we for freedom or not?

Alex   November 5th, 2007 - 3:34 pm

Thomas Gassett, I am sure you think this applies to the handicapped too. Should we shoot them? How about gay people, asians and blacks? Assuming you are none of the above, but if you are please feel free to substitute accordingly.

RC   November 5th, 2007 - 3:35 pm

We hunt these in Colorado at night by the full moon. It is a hoot.

Billy Joe Jim Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 3:36 pm

Ace, acutally I have not seen the video yet as the server seems to be too busy. But not much in it would change my mind. In fact, I am going to grab my bow and hit the treestand as soon as I get home. I am just pointing out that if you want to “win” a debate you need to present facts instead of opinion and abuse.

Carl, now that hurts. You read my post about name calling and then called me a name. Do you suppose that that makes you “right” or just a name caller?

Jack from Dayton   November 5th, 2007 - 3:36 pm

Barely the size of Bambi? There is no Bambi. Bambi was a cartoon character made for little children. By the way, what color was the bovine from which your latest Big Mac was made? I hope it wasn’t an albino. I’d hate to see all the hand-wringing it would cause in the animal rights circles. Ditto for your breakfast bacon. Was your porcine victim an albino? For that matter, aren’t aborted fetuses in ambiotic fluid also white? Who cries for them? Put things in their proper perspective and marvel at the foolishness of some people.

hank   November 5th, 2007 - 3:37 pm

hmmmm,
Let’s see.

Many of you would think that people should be free to take drugs.
Free to have as many abortions, as late, as they wish.
Free to say anything about any body.
Free of any society rules or morals.
Free to spew hate for others.
Free from any religious ideals.

But,,,,
OTHER people should NOT be free to go hunting or have firearms.

Funny how they want to have their particular “freedom”, yet when someone excersizes their choice under a legal freedom, they are idiots and morons.

BTW, Albino and Piebald deer, whichever this one was, are not really all that rare. Between Georgia, Albabma and Mississippi there are probably 30 to 50 killed every year. YOU have been duped by a press that was pushing buttons and you have responded just like they would like.

Now who is the idiot.

TomW   November 5th, 2007 - 3:38 pm

To be honest, what really shocked me were the TV anchors. I got the impression that you could fire a 30-30 round in the middle of each forehead and it would sail right through with no effect whatsoever.

Alex   November 5th, 2007 - 3:39 pm

And in response to Carl, I am for the equal protection of all wildlife. I really don’t care for people who claim animals are ruining their suburbs.

Lina   November 5th, 2007 - 3:40 pm

Hank:

Great way to generalize without anything to suggest that any of us have the ideas you listed. Unless you have any evidence that any of us have even one of these thoughts, then its a red-herring from the issue at hand.

And talking about legal freedoms…its illegal to shoot albino deer in Minn.

And that Texas hat of hers would make a fitting bullseye to any deer that might learn how to use a hunting rifle.

Who spends their free time killing things anyway? Read a book or volunteer at a food pantry you genetic castoff.

Mike   November 5th, 2007 - 3:44 pm

This was an adult deer. A fawn does not grow a full set of antlers. In some states, you are not allowed to shoot an albino. I probably would have passed on it.

Some of you want to hurt or even kill this woman? Wow, now that’s scary! You worship nature but most of you eat meat regardless. I suppose it is more humane to get your meat from sources where the animals are basically raised in cubicles?

I shoot 3 deer a year. I am not ashamed of this. Rather, I am proud of that fact. I feed my family with the meat – and the meat is of good quality, not raised on genetically engineered monster grains.

Many of you have a very messed up sense of spirituality. The God of the bible is real – your worship of nature is idolatry and will land you in a very unfortunate afterlife for an eternity.

Wow, you really have things upside-down.

Toothless dumb redneck   November 5th, 2007 - 3:44 pm

Bake at 350 degrees until the meat reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees, the meat should be pink and the juices should run clear.

Rare White deer- They are not just for breakfast anymore!

Thomas J Gassett   November 5th, 2007 - 3:46 pm

Thomas Gassett, I am sure you think this applies to the handicapped too. >>

And you know this how … by osmosis? You say it with the certainty of a luntic and with nothing but your ugly bias to back it up. Must be a Lefty.

Should we shoot them? How about gay people, asians and blacks? Assuming you are none of the above, but if you are please feel free to substitute accordingly.>>

Only a liberal could equate culling an animal that should be culled for the health of the herd, and killing handicapped people. This says it all about the mental disease known as liberalism. (the party of abortion on demand.)

Ruth D   November 5th, 2007 - 3:47 pm

“I heard the animal might be in the area.”
So she figured she would just shoot and kill this beautiful rare animal. How sick can she get.
She gives a bad name to hunters and decent humans alike.
I can’t believe she can be proud of herself for doing this.
Shame on Her!!!!

anonymous   November 5th, 2007 - 3:48 pm

So sickening to see this! How could she be proud of this? A rare animal and she deliberately sets out to destroy it! I think she should be charged with a crime, not lauded in the media. What a complete jerk! And I doubt she even eats the venison she shoots. She looks like a McDonald’s fed piglet!

Eugene Hasenfus   November 5th, 2007 - 3:48 pm

Nice job lady. Way to kill a rare animal…I hope this has brought some meaning to your life.

So is it the trophy or the meat you’re after, or perhaps both? Besides being white and therefore unusual, the head of that little anemic, premature buck will make a pathetic trophy, and I think there’s probably more meat on a buffalo chicken wing!

Trina   November 5th, 2007 - 3:50 pm

Hopefully Karma will come around to haunt her and the other hunters who hunt for fun and attention.

RC   November 5th, 2007 - 3:51 pm

Karma? Had that in some corn once. Pretty good.

Greg Sorenson   November 5th, 2007 - 3:51 pm

She must be so proud. Those rare genetic traits shouldn’t exist anyway.

Jeff   November 5th, 2007 - 3:52 pm

What kind of mutant-monster derives pleasure by draining the life from another living creature?

Remington   November 5th, 2007 - 3:53 pm

Boo–Hoo Boo-Hoo-Hoo. (Oh, pass me another Big Mac, would ya?)

The Lelland   November 5th, 2007 - 3:55 pm

Jesus Christ, is there no sense of restraint or honor and respect left? I am probably one of the most pro gun, pro hunting individuals I know, but c’mon man. This is a rare creature, and completely has nothing to do with conservation and thinning the heard. This woman has no sense of what a hunters’ code is and should have her hunting license suspended.

Mike W   November 5th, 2007 - 3:55 pm

Lina, Alfie, Others saying that abortion has nothing to do with this.. Let me ask you one simple question.. Forget the debate back and forth. I won’t argue your point just answer these two questions:

1.) Do you think it was wrong to have killed this deer? And if so why, briefly.

2.) Do you think hunting is wrong?

3.) Do you think that women in this country should have a right to on demand elective procedures to kill a life (if life is too strong of a word then just say a clump of cells and organs with a beating heart and moving limbs that reacts to it’s environment in it’s womb)?

kenny   November 5th, 2007 - 3:55 pm

This was obviously posted on a PETA style forum with all the anti-hunting post in a very short amount of time…

Mike W   November 5th, 2007 - 3:56 pm

sorry.. 3 simple questions. That was stupid of me :)

Jim   November 5th, 2007 - 3:56 pm

I’m proud of this woman. I wish all the deer where white so that we could pick them out faster. For the hunter against this, Just because you can’t ever get any deer you should not be mad at her. So quit your crying!!! I also love animals they taste good!!! Way to go.

hank   November 5th, 2007 - 3:56 pm

Funny,
The total lack of intellegence from the no-hunt, no-gun crowd.
Some have said stuff like, too small or young. Well, a 6 point is between 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 years old. Possibly 4 1/2 though in this case because of the color. The deer is either piebald, a white phase deer, or a true albino. Neither case is very rare. Actually, in some localities they are fairly common.
And talking about arguing generalities….
That is all that most of the “anti” people have put here. They are arguing from a position of emotion. One too many episodes of Bambi or saw to many crazy PETA commercials (who, by the way exterminates thousands of animals a year).
It is correct that in a very few states this animal would be illegal to shoot. But, ask any wildlife biologist, there is nothing special about them.
Hunting is hunting, deer is deer. The meat tastes the same whether it is white or brown.

BTW, Lina, my point was how readily some people want to comment negatively on the freedoms of others, while they themselves want to be free to do whatever they choose.
And how easily the ignorant masses are spun up by media.
Hank

Lina   November 5th, 2007 - 3:57 pm

I am a man-hating lesbian; does that change your opinion of me?

socalifbabe   November 5th, 2007 - 3:58 pm

Nasty woman…hope she gets the same thing she did to the dear. People like this don’t deserve to walk the earth, if she would kill something like this, she’s capable of anything!!! KARMA!!

Mike W   November 5th, 2007 - 3:58 pm

I am not sure if that was really Lina posting or someong just changing their name.

if that was your name that wouldn’t change my opinion of you, I don’t know you and I haven’t formed an opinion. Do you have an answer for those questions though?

Lina   November 5th, 2007 - 3:59 pm

Mike:

I don’t believe in your god. Does that mean my spirituality is ‘messed up’? Hardly. And to make that statement is elitist, narrow-minded, and intolerant of others views and beliefs. So I would suggest refraining from telling us who is spiritually ‘messed up’ because we don’t believe in YOUR particular god, so we can remain on the subject at hand.

Thomas Gassett:

I hate that you group individuals by the radials and those who speak out of emotion. As easy as we can do it to the Conservative base, some of us choose not to because it gets people nowhere. How about taking the higher road, hmm?

ALbino   November 5th, 2007 - 4:00 pm

Friggin Lesbo woman…. has she no compassion at all????

Mike W   November 5th, 2007 - 4:00 pm

Socalifbabe -

Are you really saying that you hope someone shoots this woman?

Can you explain your justification for this? Your sincere, thoughtful justification for murder in response to hunting?

Thomas J Gassett   November 5th, 2007 - 4:00 pm

And you Carl are a moron. Look, all I’m saying is that we need to protect life not destroy it. Women’s Rights are one thing but saving a rare dear is another. That dear should have been spared. All we did is weaken our country.
>>>

WEll, you have the bleeding heart … now all the tin man needs is a brain.
Weaken our country by culling a deer with a genetic defect? We need to have an intelligence test before we allow people to vote.

Billy Joe Jim Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 4:01 pm

I see the arguments are getting repetitive now. Are people not reading the previous posts or are they still refusing to answer the real questions?

Byron   November 5th, 2007 - 4:02 pm

There is an interesting point of logic that gets destroyed in the emotion of this issue. In general most anti-hunters, not all, tend to believe that animals and humans are equal or near equal in value. They stress a love of nature that decries the killing of “innocent” animals. The problem with this: If you believe that people and animals are equal or near equal then you must acknowledge that humans are a part of that natural system and are without any scientific doubt predators. You must view human hunting in no different light than that of a wolf, cougar or even a dog or cat hunting. Many times we observe dogs and cats hunting, not for food, but simply because they are predators. If you say you like nature, then you like hunting because it is a big part of nature. That is an undeniable truth. Human hunting is as much a part of nature as the birth of an albino animal.

ALbino   November 5th, 2007 - 4:02 pm

I can Mike. People who can go out and just kill a helpless animal in cold blood are psychologically damaged and a danger to society. They have no compassion…therefore sociopaths. Kill them before they breed.

hank   November 5th, 2007 - 4:03 pm

Lina,
I am a lesbian too, at least we have something in common.
Hank

Lina   November 5th, 2007 - 4:03 pm

Yeah, that comment before the commentary to Mike and Thomas wasn’t me… Not that it matters to this debate…

Mark   November 5th, 2007 - 4:05 pm

The same people who would put an animal above a human in rights are the same people who will tell you a baby fe tus is below an animal and has none.

Kill the lady because she killed a animal?

Who’s really “foolish, illogical, and disgusting”?

kai   November 5th, 2007 - 4:05 pm

What a hick! I agree with all the outrage expressed here. I hope karma catches up with this imbecile and smashes her!

Mike W   November 5th, 2007 - 4:06 pm

Albino – Someone is a sociopath because they hunt? Can you please tell me which page and in which psychological text or compendium of disorders you are reading from?

Lina – I am a different poster than the Mike to which you replied above. I have not passed judgement on anyones beliefs though I do believe in the God of the Christian Bible and do believe there is only one way to Heaven. I don’t believe that that is something to force down one’s throat, however. I do believe that I should share my faith and stand up for injustice and for a society that appears to be on a moral decline from the point of view of my world view.

I do this with love though, no hatred towards anyone who believes differently. For instance, I oppose abortion. I have seen the silentscream video and have seen what it does and what it is. I believe that life begins at conception. All that being said, I would never say some of the hateful things and wish death upon an abortionist as some folks are saying/wishing on this hunter.

Thomas J Gassett   November 5th, 2007 - 4:06 pm

I don’t believe in your god. Does that mean my spirituality is ‘messed up’? Hardly.>>

Clue: It means that you lack spirtuality, stupid.

And to make that statement is elitist, narrow-minded, and intolerant of others views and beliefs.>>

That’s the problem, I’m talking facts, and you’re praticing intolerance.

So I would suggest refraining from telling us who is spiritually ‘messed up’ because we don’t believe in YOUR particular god, so we can remain on the subject at hand.
>>

Clearly, you have a reading comprehension problem. I never even mentioned God, you godless liberal clown.

Thomas Gassett:

I hate that you group individuals by the radials and those who speak out of emotion. As easy as we can do it to the Conservative base, some of us choose not to because it gets people nowhere. How about taking the higher road, hmm?

All your words come from your liberal emotions. Again, I’m talking facts and you’re having a Lefty wet dream.

David   November 5th, 2007 - 4:07 pm

Everyone crying over this “rare” deer. Its rare, Its rare..RARE DONE…. Big deal.
Ohhhh she is mean, she is terrible… Get a life people, rare or not, it is ,,, or was just a SIX point buck and a congenital defect at that. When they get to that size they are not bambies. They are full grown. What gives? What if she had not shot it, would it live forever? Was it the great immortal albino deer. It was a freak of nature, probably destined never to breed because of its defect and which may have gotten hit by a car the next day or starved to death this winter.

alexjmc   November 5th, 2007 - 4:08 pm

To shoot such a rare animal is an abomination. The woman should be ashamed of herself. What an ignorant person.

Shaggy   November 5th, 2007 - 4:09 pm

Awesome, i would prefer she shot a liberal scumbag over the deer……..But, Good shot honey.

jumba jakkarah   November 5th, 2007 - 4:10 pm

This woman will make fine wife she is fat and plump, she will bare many sons for me!
Kill Whitey I say !!
The testicles of this rare white buck will taste good im my mouth and give me vigor!
allah umbakka!!
Allow me to bare witness to all who oppose me, stand forward and speak while standing on your head!

Billy Joe Jim Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 4:13 pm

Albino, how can you say hunters are sociopaths? Do you not know that in the book of Genesis, God gave Adam and Eve animal skins to hide their nakedness? I am sure this statement will lead to much Christian bashing, but that just goes to my earlier point that if you have nothing better to say than name calling you don’t have a valid argument.

While we are on it; if you are an athiest then you probably believe in evolution. If evolution is true, then why condemn hunting? Isn’t hunting just survival of the fittest?

If you are a Christian, then why do you think hunting is wrong?

kai   November 5th, 2007 - 4:14 pm

It is illegal in the state of Minnesota to kill an Albino Whitetail so hopefully something will happen with that. Isn’t it funny how all the hicks come out of the woodwork on these boards? What sad pathetic little people. Your parents did a bang up job raising you didn’t they? Crawl back to your holes.

Michelle   November 5th, 2007 - 4:14 pm

Too young? Hardly, it’s a 6 point buck. This lady has a fine trophy and a chest-freezer full of meat, good for her.

God   November 5th, 2007 - 4:15 pm

This woman gives real meaning to “Smart as a Brick”.

Dominic   November 5th, 2007 - 4:15 pm

What a stupid angle on the story. She should’ve been slightly condemned. I don’t get the joy of deer hunting.

Lina   November 5th, 2007 - 4:17 pm

Mike W.:

Do you know that the SilentScream video has been debunked by scientists and doctors who actually perform the surguries? And while you can have your views, so long as you are not one to get between a woman and her right to choose, I’ve got no issue. Just like you, I don’t wish death on this hunteress. Just, maybe…some compassion?

Thomas Gassett:

Come again? Your obvious dislike for anybody that has different views is making your commentary nothing short of offensive.

What facts have you offered this debate? My review of your commentary is, at best, repetitive. But I’ve yet to see any ‘fact’ in your posts. Care to elaborate?

Frank   November 5th, 2007 - 4:17 pm

Do you people think this albino deer was created by some miracle. It is a genetic mutation that causes all kinds of problems for the animal. If that animal breeds it will only spread bad genetics through the population.

Also, many animals that are albino never reach the full size so no one here has any idea how old that animal really is, the only way to tell would to get a biologist to look at the teeth.

Furthermore, why are there so called “hunters” commenting that this woman was wrong. She spent her money for her license and legally and ethically took the animal….as a hunter that is her absolute right to do so. You have the right to let that animal go if you saw it and chose to do so and that is fine. But that doesnt mean she has to do that as well.

I CONGRATULATE this hunter on a animal she will never forget.

Posting this article was just to give a bunch of uneducated, anti-hunting, and treehugging morons a chance to bash a hunter and hunting all together. It is sad you people will never understand nature and what it is all about.

hank   November 5th, 2007 - 4:18 pm

Ok,
A simple fact for all you people that INSIST that this is a rare animal.
There are approximately 5 million deer in the states of Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. Biologists estimate that between one and two percent are piebald and/or albino. If we take the LOWEST number, one percent. That means that there are about 50,000 running around in those states RIGHT NOW. Yea, that is sure rare.
That is not a generality, that is a fact.

Hank, the lesbian

Claudine Erlandson   November 5th, 2007 - 4:20 pm

What this woman hunter did is a disgrace. There is no excuse whatsoever and her gloating makes it even more pathetic. To kill this beautiful, young deer is horrible and digusting.
Shame on her and her envious relatives.
Claudine (Seattle)

Moe   November 5th, 2007 - 4:20 pm

Oh yes! Definitely!! This poor animal would have been taken down by predators anyway, so it was compassionate of this woman to get the job done first. God forbid anyone let nature take its course. Because, you know, if a baby is found to have a severe defect in the womb, the compassionate thing to do would be to kill it, right? I mean it will probably die anyway. There’s no chance of it surviving (that was for all of you abortion discussing types, by the way). Quite frankly, it all sounds like hunter justification bull crap to me. Oh, and also, if the worry of an overpopulation of deer is so great and something must be done about it (because, you know, nature doesn’t take care of these things on its own) then go out shoot you some ordinary-looking-not-so-rare deer for goodness sake! No! Wait…a rare albino deer would look much better mounted on a wall; of course. Silly, silly me.

Stev   November 5th, 2007 - 4:20 pm

No Lina do not hate you for your dislike! Can I EAT you? There are so many albino and half albino (pinto) deer on Whidbey Island (it is from inbreeding) and NOT a desirable trait in deer. The albino are often smaller with many defects. I hope she enjoys the small carcas, after dressing the albino out. But please do not get all excited about the Lady! I have about 140 acres (Prime deer habitat) and I allow NO HUNTING. Most of the “Hunters” today are very poor sportsmen. No Entry means come on in to these Yahoos! If I could find someone I could trust not to shot themselves (or someone else) I WOULD allow hunting. The deer are terrible pests!

Doom   November 5th, 2007 - 4:20 pm

I’m an educated, conservative, hunter and am sickened by this woman’s actions. No respectable hunter would have shot this deer. In my opinion to shoot a deer of this small a size is pathetic in itself. I don’t pretend hunting to be a sport but a necessity in certain areas because of overpopulation. This woman is a “trophy” hunter and should be condemned.

Stephen   November 5th, 2007 - 4:21 pm

Mary Rakotz of Avon, Minnesota evidently takes pride in destroying a rare and beautiful thing. Apart from once again revealing the worst aspects of the American personality (”if it moves, kill it”), she offers a useful challenge.

She should be confronted with her disgusting act. Her neighbors should be encouraged to speak with her, and the good people of Avon to tell her what they think of her murderousness.

Mary Rakotz of Avon, Minnesota will come to regret what she has done. The way she will be shamed and snubbed is, regrettably, nothing in comparison to what she did with a gun.

Let’s pray that her children know better. The rest of us already do.

kai   November 5th, 2007 - 4:23 pm

Frank, She did not legally “take” i.e. kill that deer legally. It is Illegal in this state to kill an Albino Whitetail. Look it up. Genetic mutation changes nothing about the beauty of this animal and considering the population of deer here, she could have and should have let this animal live. Some things just come down to doing the right thing. It is very difficult for people who see something beautiful and admire it’s existence to understand someone seeing something rare and beautiful and wanting to destroy it. I’m not anti hunting, but this just wasn’t right, or legal.

Billy Joe Jim Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 4:24 pm

Moe, you say the hunter should have let “nature take its course”. But didn’t nature do exactly that? The superior organism killed the lesser organism; is that not nature?

Moe   November 5th, 2007 - 4:25 pm

An albino anything, defect or not, is still RARE. PERIOD. END of that argument; so don’t post anything else about it! Thank you.

Mike W   November 5th, 2007 - 4:25 pm

I have not heard that about the video and I will do some research on that. I do know that the gentlemen who narrated it and was a part of putting it together was an abortionist who had performed thousands in his time. I also know he was one of the original thinkers behind NARAL and their campaigns and catch phrases and he vehemently opposes it. I will definitely do more research but that Ultrasound is pretty convincing. Have you actually seen it? I will make a deal, if this doesn’t sound too cheezy. I will research the opposing views and analyze the data on the merits of science (Medical science is a joy of mine as an EMT who has studied to be a paramedic and considers himself an “amateur medical buff” if there can be such a thing) if you agree to hit the website and watch at least the first 3 parts of that video with the same open mind?

I definitely did not see you as one of the fruitloops wishin death and I appreciate that.

As far as compassion. Yes. I am okay with hunting. I don’t hunt myself but believe responsible (which I believe this was NOT a case of) hunting for food is acceptable and moral. I think that there is a certain ethos of hunters that I support and this woman does not appear to match up with that. I hope that if she did break the law (which appears to be the case) that she is persecuted and made more aware of the hunting laws and given the proper and fair punishment.

I can’t promise that I would never get between a woman and an abortion. I would never break a law and use physical violence so I guess that means I wouldn’t. I do, however, support a local pregnancy center that provides women with options. They do ultrasounds for people considering abortion who want to get a gestational age. There have been many testimonies of folks ready for that abortion who changed their minds when they looked at the U/S. Being the father of 1 with one more on the way, I can honestly say that I was rocked when I first saw an ultrasound. I used to hold the view that “I would never want a child of mine to aborted but how dare me interfer with the rights of another”. After thinking a lot about it, I came to the belief I have now that it should be illegal. But again no hatred towards those who perform them or have them done, just compassion :)

peek freans   November 5th, 2007 - 4:26 pm

She couldn’t wait to kill it, yet she’s NOT SURE SHE HAS ROOM FOR IT??? What in the name of all that is holy did she go hunting for, if not the meat or a trophy? Stupidity incarnate. This person makes me sick to my stomach.

Bunny   November 5th, 2007 - 4:27 pm

Hank,
Don’t be ruining this blubbering ignorance fest with your facts.

aust   November 5th, 2007 - 4:27 pm

This is disgusting, not only does this woman have no compassion for a rare animal, but these idiot anchors condone this brutality.

this country is going to hell on a push-cart

Good shot Mary.See ladies can bring home food for the family.Isn’t freedom GREAT!

Larry   November 5th, 2007 - 4:29 pm

Are all of you anti-hunters vegitarians? or are you too much of a coward to procure your own food and rely on someone beneath your “station” to do it for you? Even though I think the vegetarians are idiots at least they have a leg to stand on.

Congratualtion to the woman who harvested this deer.

Lina   November 5th, 2007 - 4:29 pm

Why yes I would Stev, but only by the female persuasion!

Carol   November 5th, 2007 - 4:29 pm

Isn’t it illegal to shoot an albino in Minnesota?

Anti-Lina   November 5th, 2007 - 4:30 pm

Lina: The problem with the conservation of the albino trait in animals is that they are genetically unstable and not a representative of 99% of the gene pool of a particular animal. When these albino animals are bred, they tend to take over more of the slots in zoos that could be occupied by more representative specimens of the species; also they tend to have more health problems. They are also usually the first animals culled out in the wild as all manner of natural predators will pick them out first due to lack of camouflage. Also, if your car has ever been hit by a charging deer in daylight, the more they can be thinned out by hunting the less will die being hit by cars or starving to death since only so many animals can be supported by x number of acres of woodlands.

John   November 5th, 2007 - 4:30 pm

There are an awful lot of people who don’t have anything to do today….this nonsense has gone on long enough. Get off it and go do something that matters in life. And that includes me. This was my first ever post, and boy, what a waste of time…..

[...] How many points does one get in Buck Hunter for this gem? [...]

Michael   November 5th, 2007 - 4:31 pm

I have a white deer on the farm where I live. It is by far one of the most beautiful animals on the farm. At dusk it actually GLOWS. We have many hunters who hunt deer on the property… and they all know… shoot our white deer and get shot yourself!!!!!!!!!

This bitch defies the term Sportsman, and it looks like she actually broke the law. Should of just quietly had your trophy mounted instead of running your big mouth!!!

Brian   November 5th, 2007 - 4:31 pm

Wow, some of your people are REALLY scary.

First of all, I am not a hunter… but I do not think hunters are evil. Second, I personally wouldn’t have killed this deer. I would have thought it was a thrill to see such a thing – and moved on to the next target.

HOWEVER, you people who say things like “I wish the woman would get hit by a car” are reprehensible human beings. Some people in this country seem to think people are disposable but animals are sacred. Try getting your back up about HUMANS suffering before you cry boo-hoo about a deer. Deer are not RARE… not even albino deer. Yet some people have intimated they’ll now “die out” due to this woman. Other people have invoked the Bible passage “Thou Shalt Not Kill”… as if that meant ANIMALS which were routinely killed throughout Biblical times for meat.

I mean… some of the arguments here (on BOTH sides) are ridiculous and silly.

It’s just amazing what people will waste energy rallying against when there are REAL issues and REAL problems facing the world. Yet, for those, we’re too busy… too wrapped up in ourselves. But let some yokel kill a deer and everyone is perturbed and moved to action!

I love my country- but boy do we have our priorities wrong sometimes.

-Brian

Billy Joe Jim Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 4:32 pm

Larry, you have asked the question that nobody seems to want to answer. It has been asked by me and others and yet still not answer. Why is that? Is it because people would have to admit they are using twisted logic? Kai says we should not shoot beautiful animals so I guess the ugly ones are ok? Boy I wish I were beautiful.

Mike W   November 5th, 2007 - 4:32 pm

John – I wholeheartedly agree :) First time ever posting to a news story here and too much wasted time indeed.

Angry Eric   November 5th, 2007 - 4:33 pm

This “woman” is disgusting in every way imaginable. She is not only proud of killing a rare and harmless animal; she is also a complete and total physical wreck. She ought to be ashamed of yourself for many reasons, especially for damaging the vision of thousands by showing that hideous mug on TV. I’m surprised you didn’t pick the carcass clean before the camera crew took the photo of you and the poor creature you destroyed. I’m sure that you’ll be mistaken for a whale and harpooned on the beach soon enough. Why don’t you try a new sport, like pie-eating…you would certainly be a natural.

Robert   November 5th, 2007 - 4:34 pm

I am not a hunter but I would think that there are many regular deer to hunt during hunting season. Why the hell would you go and shoot a rare albino? Ohh that’s right, to have his head mounted on your wall.

The woman obviously has no heart.

Steph   November 5th, 2007 - 4:35 pm

Wonder if an Albino deer tastes the same. Hope to find out someday.

kai   November 5th, 2007 - 4:35 pm

You think vegetarians are idiot’s? Based on what? Man, you lose all credibility when you make statements like that. What ever happened to common sense? If hunter’s want to hunt, fine, it is cruelty free meat, I’m not a hunter but I think if you are hunting for food, more power to you, but what sense is there in killing something rare? (And yes to Hank, being one percent of a population, even if that statement is true, still constitutes being rare).

george   November 5th, 2007 - 4:37 pm

You Have got to be kidding me!!! This woman should be strung up!! Little does she know that alot of people in the Mille Lacs area drive to the Father Hennepin State Park to watch, feed, photograph these beauties. It also states in this article that it is ILLEGAL to hunt ALBINO deer in MINNESOTA!!!!!So what is the DNR gonna do about it??? I don’t think that I would be contacting Cabelas to sell them this deer carcus, I hope that she gets into BIG trouble for what she has done!! WE don’t want her up in our area again!!!

Moe   November 5th, 2007 - 4:41 pm

Oh yes, Billy Joe Jim Bob. You’re right. Im sorry. Because as a superior organism with this great God (or nature for you Darwinian types) given gift that humans possess called “the ability of rationalization”, that would be the natural thing for us to do. WHY, just the other day I was sooo starving and, following my insticts of survival, I went out and ran down a small cotton tail. I grabbed it by it’s neck, sunk my teeth deep into it’s muscle, and shook it ferociously until it was dead. The meat was kind of tough, and it was really messy eating. I think next time I’ll use those good ‘ol rationalization skills and go to supermarket for some frozen dinners (on sale of course). Yes, that would be much easier. UNLESS, of course, I need some nice carcasses to decorate my wall.

Doom   November 5th, 2007 - 4:41 pm

John and Mike W. Sorry this topic is beneath the two of you. Thank god people like you out aren’t out there (yet) to decide what issues should be discussed or debated. Pompous a-holes.

Jubal Harshaw   November 5th, 2007 - 4:42 pm

Some people do their best to live down to your lowest expectations. This nice lady makes a good case for retroactive birth control.

Just shows that people should breed for brains. Quality over quantity.

Slap her parents.

Lina   November 5th, 2007 - 4:43 pm

Mike W.:

I have seen it. And have been disgusted by it, but for opposite reasons than perhaps yourself. I found it to be too emotional, to be too contrived and one-sided. There is a film coming out very soon – like a docu-drama – where the producer does the research, talks to both sides and gets the views, gives the facts and ends with speaking to Ms. Roe from the (in)famous Roe v. Wade case. Its supposed to be a great film, one that makes you leave thinking. Once I get the name of it I’ll post it here.

I agree with you to a degree. I don’t like abortion. But I’m Pro-Choice because we – as women – need it. We don’t have 100% failsafe birth control, and thus unplanned and unwanted pregnancies occur. While there are some options avaiable, abortion must always remain as one. I hope for the day we never, ever, need it again.

And it appears we have digressed. Sorry to all in the thread.

kai   November 5th, 2007 - 4:43 pm

And yet they make their way here don’t they Doom? Maybe this is the only place they can feel that way.

evelyn victor   November 5th, 2007 - 4:45 pm

MEAT IS MURDER, ummm, yummmy murder.

Bill W   November 5th, 2007 - 4:47 pm

I hate the referances to her being Whitetrash, Hillbilly, etc.
Stupid, comes to mind tho.
I’d rather of let Mother Nature do the Deer in, & saved my Ammo for a 8+ pointer of a few more pounds than that little Deer she got.
Peace & Love to all……..

JAY   November 5th, 2007 - 4:47 pm

I hope i get to marry a dumb hic like this someday. ITS RARE!!! KILL IT!!!!!!!!!! WTH???

audrey   November 5th, 2007 - 4:49 pm

I just lost my lunch. What a pathetic excuse for a human being.

mikey   November 5th, 2007 - 4:53 pm

Sheesh! You can always tell the demarcation line for before and after when Drudge has linked to a news story. Some of you are such sheep. How cheap to blame outrage over this on being a “pc liberal.” How typical of the wingnut crowd to assume that because someone cares about an animal they DON’T care about human babies. Shame on you. Not everything is about your twisted politics and hypocritical morals.

John   November 5th, 2007 - 4:55 pm

There is a herd of these albino deer in northern Wisconsin. She is lucky she did not shoot it there; they are protected.

Chub   November 5th, 2007 - 4:55 pm

Lookie the perty white aminal thingy. I’ze kilt it and makez me uh sweater. hey bubba, pass me da putatuhz un gravie.

rpsjimj   November 5th, 2007 - 5:00 pm

IT IS ILLEGAL TO SHOOT/KILL ALBINO DEER IN MINNESOTA!! SHE NEEDS TO BE ARRESTED, CHARGED AND PROSECUTED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW!!! I have no problem with hunting, but as a hunter, it’s her responsibility to know the law!! She either didn’t know the law or didn’t care. I want her charged!!!

sharen hyde   November 5th, 2007 - 5:05 pm

Itoo am saddened by the shooting of this beautiful and rare creature. she should be ashamed of herself. As a human being, she is no trophy.

Chris   November 5th, 2007 - 5:06 pm

It is unbelievable that this woman takes pride in killing a rare baby deer. I agree with the comment a few ahead of this–this woman is a pitiful excuse for a human being.

Kerri   November 5th, 2007 - 5:07 pm

She is an idiot. Why is shooting a rare deer so much fun?

T   November 5th, 2007 - 5:08 pm

blah blah…blah, BLAH BLAH BLABBITY BLAH

Moe   November 5th, 2007 - 5:08 pm

Bottom line: Let nature take its course! I’d rather see it get eaten alive for survival of a starving predator than shot to be put on some retarded woman’s wall. Or worse yet, sold to be mounted on some other retard’s wall. (But then, white does go with everything…hhmmmm…) Anyway, animals killing for survival are the only true hunters. The rest (yes, that just leaves humans) are cowards with guns. I’d like to see her run down and wrestle it until it’s dead. Then, I’d say, she earned that trophie!

“The deer is an easy target for predators because it is all white”

Actually, this woman killed off the last remaining wolves, bear and mountain lion left in the region, as well.

Xenocrates   November 5th, 2007 - 5:11 pm

I would like to shoot the woman who shot this beautiful animal. There is always one who cares nothing for nature.

Moe   November 5th, 2007 - 5:12 pm

oops, I repeated myself.

Faye   November 5th, 2007 - 5:12 pm

Pooh head, how would she like it if she was hunted and killed. I say you should only hunt if it is your only source of having a meal. But in this day and age it is only for sport and that isn’t fair. God forgive her.

Justin   November 5th, 2007 - 5:13 pm

Notice how the news anchors show no disgust at the sight of this disgusting woman? It’s because in Minnesota this kind of mentality is normal.

hank   November 5th, 2007 - 5:15 pm

Isn’t it interresting how the sane, non-name calling people living in the real world either understand or are pro-hunting.

While the rest are calling names, insisting on calling it RARE and a baby. What a bunch of hypocrits and liars.

If you can’t debate the issue logically and with facts, call names.

Again. Not rare and not a baby. Fully mature buck, one of several thousand in that state.

Hank
the lesbian

BLM   November 5th, 2007 - 5:15 pm

CONGRATS MARY, NICE TROPHY! The white matches the drapes nicely.

LINA – It is a whitetail period. And NO you don’t understand what hunting is all about or why we do it so don’t try. You sound even more foolish.

Also . . . abortion may have nothing to do with hunting but I can reason why we bring it up here. If you can’t you are so open minded your brain fell out.

hey DOOM! you’re not a hunter you’re a culler and an educated idiot in my conservative opinion. A hunter hunts for reasons other than population control. If it was about population control there are MUCH more efficient means to kill deer(some of which the liberal state of California already employs).

Bad things are happening all over the world. Take up a real cause.

bunny   November 5th, 2007 - 5:17 pm

A baby deer with a six point rack, That is rare!

Tboy   November 5th, 2007 - 5:17 pm

I bet PETA was pissed! (lol)

You Liberals whine about animal rights but you are in favor of abortion. You make me sick!

Doom   November 5th, 2007 - 5:19 pm

rpsjimj,
Unfortunately it is legal to shoot and kill an albino deer in the state of Minnesota. You can call the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources 1-888 646-6367 regarding the legality.

Kat   November 5th, 2007 - 5:21 pm

“I had heard that it might be in the area, so I thought that here was my chance of a lifetime.”

Oh, so let’s kill it, stuff it and mount it above the fireplace to show everyone who stops by what a cold blooded, soulless idiot looks like.

Don Greyfox   November 5th, 2007 - 5:22 pm

The problem in the world today is that there are people who have no regard for life, any life. A heart made of stone, is a heavy and lonely heart. They shoot dogs don’t they, why not this cold hearted ker? I bet no one would miss her.

Hey, if we have to watch an ad before the video, lets paint them white and turn them loss near her house.

Moe   November 5th, 2007 - 5:23 pm

ALSO, BILL JOE BOB JIM STEVE, or whatever your name is…”God” gave “Adam and Eve” animal skins to clothe their bodies because CLOTH had not yet been invented!! Ya Schmoehock!! That is why we are the “superior” species; because we have been bright enough to invent things like cloth. But, I imagine you’re sitting at your computer dressed like an inuit??

joel   November 5th, 2007 - 5:24 pm

i live in southern california, love meat of all kinds and don’t really have a problem with hunting.
But i’d love to get this stupid hick in my crosshairs and blow her to kingdom come.
The absolute idiocy of a woman who sees one of the rarest kind of a species and then blows it away to mount above the electric stove in her trailer park is astonishing to me.
Equally astonishing is the INSIPID treatment of this “story” by the news anchors. Unbelievable. REminds me of the scene early in Anchorman when Ron Burgundy titters about a squirrel on water skiis “somewhere off the coast of Tampa Bay.”

Stupid, stupid people. If there’s any justice in this world, this Bertha will show up at the pearly gates and get a massive blow to her corpulent face from an enormous hoof attached to the leg of an albino deer named God.

Daniel   November 5th, 2007 - 5:25 pm

She shouldn’t have shot it, now the Indian spirits are going to get her.

yawn   November 5th, 2007 - 5:26 pm

I’m tired of Moe

Mike   November 5th, 2007 - 5:28 pm

I once saw a small group of albino deer on a back road in northern Indiana. The experience was quite profound as one of them was a 12 point buck. To think that someone would want to rob the experience from nature and from the people around her and then sell her triumph to a sporting goods store demonstrates a severe lack of stewardship of the earth and humanity in general.

I don’t condone violence against this women as that also fuels the problem, but shame on the local station for giving her 15 minutes of fame for such a vile and vicious act. How many more hunters will go out searching for their own rare kills because this behavior is now being celebrated?

Deer hunting is a religion in the upper middle west, but even most deer hunters know that there are limits to their blood sport. I hope someone with half a conscience buys this deer’s head and buries or cremates it instead of building a shrine to such ignorance.

jimbo   November 5th, 2007 - 5:29 pm

I drove to my cabin in Wisconsin last weekend and counted 8 recent mangled deer on the side of the road. Two of these were “Bambi size”, 5 were does and one was a fairly decent buck. Of all of these incidents, car parts were strewn on the road in 6 cases, although I suspect the bambi kills left pretty decent dents in someone’s vehicle.

Face it. These things are rats that create a public safety problem. Hunters are doing a public service by making a small dent in the population. If anything, we should be increasing the number of tags per hunter, especially for the doe’s.

As for the size and color? Who cares. As another poster pointed out, these kill over 100 people every year and there’s even a box on the accident form that says “collision with animal”.

Tboy   November 5th, 2007 - 5:30 pm

Hi MIKE! Spoken like a true Pantheist!

Bro Russell   November 5th, 2007 - 5:31 pm

This lady is just following the rules of the modern American, which say that if you find something rare and beautiful, by all means kill it and make a trophy of it. The rule applies whether you are talking about an exquisite animal here in the States or a museum full of ancient treasures in Baghdad.

Homer   November 5th, 2007 - 5:32 pm

mmmmmmmmmmmmm……….deer.

Wayneman   November 5th, 2007 - 5:34 pm

A few years ago we had two baby white deer around the back woods of my inlaw’s house in Hollis, Maine. We have a nice pic of them both playing while mom stayed in the treeline. I doubt they survived hunting season.Such wonderful animals, do they taste like chicken?

Moe   November 5th, 2007 - 5:35 pm

Your right, Jimbo. In fact, I hear that some deer congregate in hidden caverns and plan these attacks. I think they’re mad because we have built roads and houses in their territories and now complain because there are too many of them. Can you believe this? Something has to be done.

Mike   November 5th, 2007 - 5:35 pm

Given a choice between deer hunting and Pantheism, I’d rather enjoy what’s left of Planet Earth.

Bocephus   November 5th, 2007 - 5:37 pm

If you were a hunter you would know that this is a once in a lifetime deal. I dont know this woman but as a hunter I am proud for her. As for PETA, these people are idiots. I was in a national forest hunting deer and had a mother and father walking through the woods with three kids. The were trying to ruin hunts, none were wearing blaze orange. For someone that doesnt want to hurt animals they sure put their kids in a dangerous situation.

Team Realtree for LIFE.
Bo

alexa   November 5th, 2007 - 5:38 pm

Hey Hank the lesbian,

Albinism is rare because lack of natural pigmentation exposes the individual to greater predation. That endangers the prime directive. Homie don’t play dat. Mmmk?

Full grown or not, and the picture does not depict a full grown creature, when the “legality” of an action is not crystal clear, the more self-serving of humans would hold back just to avoid breaking the law. A decent, unselfish human wouldn’t shoot with a gun, but with a camera. Or at least show mercy.

Shooting one of God’s other creatures just for the fun of it has never made sense. That a woman did it makes it worse to me. Women are supposed to be the nurturing gender, not the murdering kind.

A total, complete waste of life. Just so someone could kill. Indefensible, period.

Moe   November 5th, 2007 - 5:39 pm

It’s called the KDA, Kamikaze Deer Alliance. They need to be stopped. Our people can’t go on dying like this. Not to mention the ink that’s wasted by having to print “collision with animal” on our accident forms, too.

Tboy   November 5th, 2007 - 5:40 pm

Well Mike, unfortunately, you will not spend eternity on the earth. I bet you are a big fan of Global Warming as well.

Bloodletting   November 5th, 2007 - 5:40 pm

This was a mutant people, it would have died soon anyway. Mutants cannot survive, they should be destroyed so they dont take over the world.

I go out into the woods with my tinfoil hat(government cant read my thoughts) searching for mutants all the time.

This woman was lucky it didnt try to mate with her, mutants do that all the time to spread their mutateness around. The government made these mutants from the roswell crash, those cute little aliens are called j-rods, not really alien, they are really humans from the future, they are not really that nice but nicer that the ones from the future after them by like 13,000 yrs, they dont like us too much.

They are waiting for the coming of a brown nova star in the yr 2012 to wipe us out. So, becareful of the mutants.

Carl   November 5th, 2007 - 5:41 pm

Well, it just took me nearly 45 minutes to get through all of this banter. I would simply like to say that I, for one, am delighted to see the death of this deer. It’s called life people. Things are born then they die. This deer deserved death be it bye a redneck’s bullet or by starvation.

Karen   November 5th, 2007 - 5:44 pm

Gee, I am amazed by the contortions some of you are going through in trying to rationalize killing this deer. Even calling everyone who disagrees with you a lib – I thought it was only libs who demonize those who disagree!

This woman’s action makes us sad. Deal with it. Whatever your position on abortion, hunting, vegetarianism, or meat-eating, killing this dear just for the heck of it diminishes us all.

Lawrence E.   November 5th, 2007 - 5:44 pm

There is nothing lower than a human being who gets his rocks off by killing an animal.

Tboy   November 5th, 2007 - 5:46 pm

Oh cry me a river KAREN! It’s called hunting! Deal with it!

Carl   November 5th, 2007 - 5:47 pm

I couldn’t be more delighted by the death of this creature. What is wrong with the thrill of the hunt? I have hunted before and it is great. Is a tiger wrong for killing us? No because it is instinctual. Just as it is for humans to kill. Killing without necessity is just well played.

Sean   November 5th, 2007 - 5:48 pm

1.) I hope all of you are vegans. I really do.
2.) You people are WAY crueler to this human than she ever was to a deer. Comments on a woman you don’t know, a human, and you make “trailer park” shots and “I would like to shoot this woman..” I’m afraid any seriousness to your argument has ended. You are condoning murder of a human being while you hold a Big Mac in your hand, eh? Unless you advocate murder of EVERY single human being involved in the demand (you), process (seen a slaughterhouse recently? I didn’t think so.), origin of our entire meat industry, all meats, ALL death of animals, your argument is illogical.
3.) A 6 point buck is an adult. However, a lamb, or say a chicken, is NOT. Wake up. Learn something about deer biology, please.
4.) Steroids, hormones, a cruel life and death in captivity. In YOUR meat, yes. In her deer, no.
5.) Such a BEAUTIFUL creature! Oh my god, the self righteousness…Is a lamb beautiful? How about a calf? How about a baby pig? Wait, wait, don’t answer, put down that bacon first.
6.) Albino animals are unusual, but NOT RARE. They are born every year, to all species. They just never live long. They do not have the normal camouflage of their species since they are white. So, like a steak in your home, they are immediately eaten. Please, please read a book before you make statements in your comments.

Jesus, people…

LOOK IN THE MIRROR.

This woman stalks, hunts, dresses, cooks her bloody, bloody visceral meat. You get yours at the drive through, cuddled in good ol’ aluminum foil, or maybe shrink wrapped in plastic at your local grocery. Oh that wonderful abstract, the distance from blood that let’s you sleep at night.

Whatever

Sean

Carl   November 5th, 2007 - 5:49 pm

Honestly Karen,

I daresay that you are probably for the death penalty but you start weeping at the thought of this over-grown rat meeting its fate at the hands of a hill-jack. Get over it. Killing animals is a part of life…and one of the sweeter parts at that.

Mike   November 5th, 2007 - 5:51 pm

Behold, Dominionism at its finest.

Carl   November 5th, 2007 - 5:52 pm

Sean,

Are you a serial killer?

Just wondering.

regards.

Bocephus   November 5th, 2007 - 5:52 pm

What I see here is a bunch of people that grew up without a father figure. My ancestors hunted and brought food to the table. For hunting I will not apologize.

Tboy   November 5th, 2007 - 5:53 pm

Sean nailed it!

Moe   November 5th, 2007 - 5:54 pm

WHAT??? Carl, read what you just wrote and please tell me there is a typo in there…SOMEWHERE! I have NEVER had an instinct to kill! If I did, and I followed it, I’d be in jail! You’ve got to be kidding me. Right? Please say you’re kidding me.

Carl   November 5th, 2007 - 5:54 pm

Tboy,

are you a serial killer as well?

Karen   November 5th, 2007 - 5:54 pm

Tboy – Hunting is necessary – esepcially since all the predators have been wiped out by….hunters!

Doom   November 5th, 2007 - 5:56 pm

BLM,
There are bad things happening all over the world – that’s really not that profound BLM.

It’s a shame you can’t express yourself without resorting to hurling insults.

Carl   November 5th, 2007 - 5:56 pm

You have never had to act on the instict to kill. You are a predator by species. As Sean aptly pointed out, our food is delivered to us. If it was not, then I would imagine that you would kill to eat. In fact Moe, I bet you would love to kill.

Dave   November 5th, 2007 - 5:56 pm

Is this woman typical of the yahoos in Minnesota??? I hope not…

Obviously, not the whole state, because they made it ILLEGAL to hunt albino deer!

I hope somebody procecutes this b**ch!!

Mary   November 5th, 2007 - 5:57 pm

HEY ALL YOU SINGLE GUYS WHO WOULD LIKE A WIFE!!! HERE’S A LOVELY BRIDE FOR YOU!!!

SERIOUSLY–
Our attitude toward animals and how we treat them will eventually spill over into how our attitude & treatment of human beings.

I feel a sick feeling in my stomach seeing that poor beautiful animal lying there dead, never to live on earth again. I know I made a joke to the single guys in my first sentence–& a nasty one at that–But I cannot help crying as I type this comment.

I live in Fort Dodge, Iowa–My son lives in Minnesota. He will be absolutely heart sick when he hears of this. Some people are just too horrible for words!

Rohan   November 5th, 2007 - 5:58 pm

What a spectacularly stupid woman, and an unfortunate world we live in. To be proud of shooting a really rare breed of animal is just wrong. It’s the product of a completely different mindset I guess, she thinks it’s of greater value to her dead than it is to the continuation of its unique characteristics in the wild.

Janice   November 5th, 2007 - 5:58 pm

An oxymoron THE CHANCE OF A LIFETIME! Obviously not this rare animal’s. I’ve read that shooting an albino deer in Minnesota is illegal. It is also selfish to prevent this rare trait from being passed down through generations.

BadgerHinter   November 5th, 2007 - 5:58 pm

She should be ashamed of herself. Shooting an albino deer puts you in jail and a lifetime hunting ban in Wisconsin.

Idiot.

Andy   November 5th, 2007 - 5:58 pm

What is shocking is not only that this woman was so selfish as to kill this rare animal that she admitted was so exciting to see, thus depriving anyone else from such excitement in the future.
What really shocks me is that none of the news people involved expressed any concern that she may have done the wrong thing! They are all remarkably dumb and unethical.

Carl   November 5th, 2007 - 5:59 pm

I will sleep better at night knowing that this deer was brutally killed. Hunting is poetic.

Kelley Mactell   November 5th, 2007 - 5:59 pm

How very sad! And she did not think even for a second that she should let it live and delight others. No remorse either. She doesn’t even have room for it on her wall. Why would you want a dead animal hung on your wall anyway? It isn’t even a fair fight, laying in hiding with a gun to kill a oh so scary deer. Actually when I think about it, it is shameful.

Tboy   November 5th, 2007 - 5:59 pm

Well, I have given serial killing a lot of thought, but these “bleeding heart” Liberals will implode by their own stupidity and hypocrisy.

sam the sham   November 5th, 2007 - 6:00 pm

Geez. Some of you people are brutal. Some of your animal lovers are just as brutal as the hunters. Calling for this probably nice lady to be killed by a semi-tractor trailer, or having her head cut off, and those were the tame ones. C’mon, hate begats hate. Didn’t you puppies see star wars? Then there are the trolls who are just trying to cause more anger and discord with insincere posts. The question is, is life sacred to you or not? If it is, then wishing harm to this woman is as tragic as the death of this deer. That this animal is so rare, and the way they’re responding to the death is high irony. You must laugh. Crying is ok too. But don’t contribute to the wasting.

Kill what you eat, eat what you kill. God made us that way. But there isn’t an excuse for such arrogance. In fact God warns against it. He’s warning us right now as you read this. Listen to the many warnings before its too late. There are a lot of warnings. If the inevitable happens, I guess none can deny that we deserve it.

Alan P   November 5th, 2007 - 6:01 pm

The albino deer may have actually lived LONGER than a non-albino deer, because it would be easier to see on the road

I wish website moderators would delete every post that includes name-calling. That’s the only way forums such as this will become even minimally civilized.

Moderators: Please step up and do your jobs. It’s becoming pointless to even have “comment” sections on new sites, since they are overrun by posts filled with name-calling. Don’t people have better things to do with their time? :-(

Well, actually, like I was telling Billy Joe Bob, just the other day I was sooo starving and, following my instict to kill, I went out and ran down a small cotton tail. I grabbed it by it’s neck, sunk my teeth deep into it’s muscle, and shook it ferociously until it was dead. The meat was kind of tough, and it was really messy eating. I think next time I’ll use my rationalization instincts to go to the supermarket for some frozen dinners (on sale of course). Yes, that would be much easier. UNLESS, of course, I need some nice carcasses to decorate my wall, then it would make sense because I would be killing 2 birds with one stone. Other than that, no, I would NEVER love to kill. I guess it just isn’t in my particular nature. Sad that for some, it is. Actually that kinda frightens me.

Sean   November 5th, 2007 - 6:02 pm

Ha, ha, ha.

Am I serial killer? I sure am, of deer, serial right up to the time I have exactly how much I need to feed my family that year. After that, I’m done. I don’t kill any animal I don’t eat, fish or fowl or deer. I don’t ANY meat from the Industry, the industry of illegal workers, massive environmental destruction, and blatant torture of animals–all for that sweet Wendy’s dollar meal…yum.

Keep your steroids and hormones and abuse to workers (most undocumented) and cattle chutes and chicken barns (oh, about 36,000 chickens to a barn), and on and on TO YOURSELF.

Thing is, my, and your, ancestors have hunted game honestly and ethically since the first sunrise on the planet earth. I will NOT apologize.

Tune in at 10:00 when she is arrested!

Shooting an albino deer is illegal in Minn!

I figured as much! Thanks, Carl. I feel so much better now. You scared me for a minute there.

Billy Joe Jim Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 6:06 pm

Moe, Moe, Moe; surely you realize that God had just created the universe and all that is in it so if he wanted to use cloth he would have created that too?

Mike   November 5th, 2007 - 6:08 pm

She has to be arrested now, it’s even on the Drudge Report.

BarryG   November 5th, 2007 - 6:10 pm

Too bad it wasn’t a great big 10 pointer! I would love to be able to shoot an albino and have it on the wall with the meat on the grill!

Billy Joe Jim Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 6:10 pm

So Moe, do you pay others to do your killing for you? Which is worse, the man who kills his own wife or the man who pays another man to kill his own wife? Oh wait, I used a liberal tactic to equate deer to a human female! ;>)

mozkill   November 5th, 2007 - 6:10 pm

I’ll take a piece of the white meat pleeze.

Mike Slowik   November 5th, 2007 - 6:11 pm

To think this woman is happy, about shooting such a beautiful creature. To think she believes it’s just dandy to kill an animal like this. I hope that someday she will understand what she has done!

JimmyX   November 5th, 2007 - 6:11 pm

I would rather kill a human being than kill an animal, this woman makes me sick. I hope she dies a thousand deaths, each one more awful than the last.

TerryZ   November 5th, 2007 - 6:16 pm

It’s one thing to hunt for food to survive and another to hunt for the thrill of just killing.

sam the sham   November 5th, 2007 - 6:17 pm

carl: for shame. but thank you for being honest. Now go back to slacking, you wacky troublemaker.
Pixie!

1. Supermarket super-agriculture industry is killing us slowly. We need more organic food.

2. Deer hunting is fine with me under responsible and ethical guidelines, preferably created by a Native American.

3. People who say hunting is evil are going way too far. But if you hunt in an unethical or bad way, you are wrong.

4. Any true huntsman would have let that buck live. True hunters worship nature and animals and know its their whole reason for being. They don’t separate themselves from nature, they become a part of it. They feel the true call of the wild.

This was an unfortunate act by a scared housewife with a firearm. She was surprised, and fired out of shock. Maybe if she had thought about it she might have held her fire. But you can’t unring a bell. I knew shooting albino animals was a legal offense, and in some states if it was done out of season, I think she’d be in serious trouble. But they’ll probably fine her. Maybe she’ll come around. Maybe even regard the reality of the event. But people, however you feel, try to stay on the side of the light. If a person disagrees with you, this is not proof that they are secretly inhuman.

Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 6:18 pm

This incident makes me puke. An obese young human taking out a rare animal just because she could. She didn’t even want to keep a trophy- it’s remains are for sale. Of course, albino animals have greatly reduced life expectancies in the wild so the norm prevails.

Karma Rules! In this instance it might be a story of a woman tooling through the woods, about dusk, in her ute. Suddenly a giant buck dashes across the street in her track. She didn’t see it and her brains were strewn over the windshield by the collision of her vehicle with the animal. Upon investigation it was found the driver was the same woman who shot a juvenile albino buck in 2007.

h.g.   November 5th, 2007 - 6:20 pm

what a miserable twat.

Kelly Kman   November 5th, 2007 - 6:20 pm

Some people hunt some people gather. Mary Rakotz is a hunter. People who like to hunt like to kill animals and degree of cuteness is irrelevant. In this case though the fawn was unique enough to bring joy or fascination to those who may have haphazardly come across in the wild. To kill it seems ignorant and selfish. But then again, you can’t blame a wolf for being a wolf no can you? I guess many people draw a line at how far up the fairytale/food chain animals are before they become outraged. This hunt crosses the line for me. I dug Bambi.

DNA   November 5th, 2007 - 6:21 pm

Sickening.

Billy Joe Jim Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 6:21 pm

Sam the Sham, what makes native american style hunting so great? They were known to kill buffalos just for their tongues when times were good.

Jimmy X,
Whoa boy settle down. Think of it this way, it could have been Flipper caught in a tuna net. Come to think of it Flipper did get caught in a tuna net, was blungeoned to death by Japanese fisherman and ended up on thirty five, 1 by 2 inch squares of rice. At least they ate them.

sam the sham   November 5th, 2007 - 6:29 pm

If you know anything about the hunting styles of many of the plains indians tribes, you would know that they would not kill a sacred buffalo without necessity, and they would not waste a bit of it. Not a bit. They even collected the buffalo waste to use as fuel. So you’ll have to link me to this resource that claims otherwise. I have never heard of native peoples killing buffalo for their tongues when they were living in the american plains on the trail of the Buffalo.

Lee   November 5th, 2007 - 6:30 pm

I didn’t read all the comments but as a biologist/genetic scientist I can tell you that removing that deer from the gene pool was the correct thing to do. Albinism is a recessive trait and is NOT desirable in breeding programs and frankly, I’m amazed that the deer made it to maturity without it being hunted down by it’s natural predators. I am impressed with a woman who can hunt, much less stalk, her prey and kill it with one clean, quick shot.

Melanie   November 5th, 2007 - 6:31 pm

I have mixed feelings about this. Although I think it is sad in a way that it is no longer living, the comments about it not being healthy for the gene pool are valid. What really gets me, though, are the people who think that a six-point buck is a baby; apparently you know nothing about deer.

OpMac   November 5th, 2007 - 6:32 pm

Just so we get this straight. I see most of you agree that it was wrong to kill this animal. I’ve done hunting and when given the chance at something big, which is unique enough for me, to nail it, eat it, and mount it. As for this though, rarity is something we all lack in this day and age. But like all things in life that we engage in we take for granted and if done over many years no matter how much we proliferate. Somewhere along the line, that line gets crossed to to selfishness and the urge to be unique in our own special way. Andy Warhol stated that we all look for our own 15 minutes of fortune and fame. Whether it is right or wrong we tend to grab it and not let go because it makes us different from everyone else. As this poster said:

To kill it seems ignorant and selfish.

It is both, ignorant to not try to give this animal a chance to produce more of this rarity, and selfish to get your 15 minutes of fame.

Let me know when mankind decides its best to make decisions with restraint and full thought rather than their personal gain. Oh wait, I forgot, we dont do that. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Just like the imbeciles in D.C.

sam the sham   November 5th, 2007 - 6:34 pm

now I couldn’t say the same for the federal government who tried starving the roaming natives by paying thousands of buffalo hunters to kill as many buffalo as they could. Fields full of slaughtered herds, wasted and left to rot. A lot of tactics were used during the Indian wars. Its a little known allegation that this was the initial focus of the Buffalo Soldiers, and engagements with natives was a secondary task.

Moe   November 5th, 2007 - 6:34 pm

You’re so right, Billy Jo Bob, If “God” wanted to create cloth he would have! So why didn’t he? He was brilliant enough to leave that to us. He gives us the resources, we use them; “RATIONALIZATION”. Now, because animals don’t have this gift, he has also left it to us to protect and to use them “RATIONALLY” (there’s that darn word again). This is why we are the superior species! And yes, I prefer letting someone else kill my meat. That way “huntings” can be regulated, not gluttonous and vain.

VoiceofReason   November 5th, 2007 - 6:36 pm

There are two arguments here:
1. This kind of rare animal at such a young stage of life should have never been killed. If one was to hunt it it should have been left to mature.

But
2. Leaving this deer to maturer and mate would have done damage to the gene pool of the herd. Albinoism is a genetic defect due to in-breeding. It should NOT spread throughouy the herd.

The ONLY viable alternative for this deer would have been for someone to capture it, have it spade and put it in a petting zoo. There everyone could enjoy this rare sight, it would have not spread it bad genetics to the population, it would grow up in a protected and safe environment and this backwards hillbilly would be without her “prize”.

Everybody wins – except of course for this brainless hick – which is a good thing.

Ken   November 5th, 2007 - 6:37 pm

Too bad she wasnt the one shot. That is truly sickening. We could do without people like her in the world. Taking an innocent life more precious and innocent than her own.

Kelly Kman   November 5th, 2007 - 6:37 pm

Billy Joe Jim Bob,
Ever had buffalo tongue? Tastes great and is less filling than cow tongue. Karma does exist, she lives next door to me and runs a 7/11. But seriously folks, ever hear the one about the fat white broad who killed an albino fawn that was really a fairy princess? What was the last thing that went through that little deer’s mind? Moe, have you not read the Old Testament and seen the many animal sacrifices that were demanded of those who sinned? If killing animals were wrong, then how could it atone for sin? It couldn’t. Man was given dominion of over the animals. So you can “rationalize” all you want, but you can’t change the truth.

Sam, shall I present as much evidence of my statement as you have yours?

LiberalsBlowDonkey   November 5th, 2007 - 6:40 pm

Funny… I’m a conservative and although I do not hunt, I don’t have any problem with those who do it legally…

However, this jackass of a woman should be smacked in her FAT FACE!

Oh boy, I killed me a big WHITE DOG!!! YAAAAY!!

Idiot… She’ll be harrassed I’m sure for this, but why kill such a rare animal??

People like this dumbass give us conservatives a bad name…

And don’t you liberals get all gleeful on me either, because liberals should be FORCED to move to San Francisco with the rest of the fruits!

Peter   November 5th, 2007 - 6:41 pm

I wonder wondering that! I too believe that it’s illegal in Minnesota to shoot an albino deer! If so, how can we push so that this stupid woman can be prosecuted (and be made an example to others)?

A beautiful rare albino deer, and this sorry excuse of woman being kills it…just for bragging rights. So sad.

JM   November 5th, 2007 - 6:42 pm

Craig, good comment about the tree huggers. I guess the majority of people with such hate and vitriolic commnents classify themselves as the same intelligent level as Rhodes Scholars and I am sure most are Harvard, Yale, Stanford, or Princeton graduates. I really suspect that most of these mean spirited and hateful people that have no clue about hunting or wildlife could not find their derriere with both hands.

None of these people know this woman. It is her right to hunt and kill deer, no matter the color. I bet she is one of the nicest people you will meet and I would love to see the picture of the those who comment about her looks. Pathetic

DaBlade   November 5th, 2007 - 6:42 pm

Yum! I’ll have some white meat.
Albinos are rare in nature because the gene that produces it is not advantageous. If Minnesota is like Michigan, there are too many deer running around anyway. There are deer-car accidents in the news every day. In fact, I just went to a funeral this week for a young father who was killed in just such a collision. Cull the herd, white, brown or plaid. Sheeesh!

George   November 5th, 2007 - 6:43 pm

I wish the deer could shoot back. You old fat-assed scow……What’s next ? Human babies ? What a hero you are !!!!

Billy Joe Jim Bob, If I were you I would read the Old Testament again. That’s not exactly accurate, however, yes, animals were sacrificed. Oh, and by the way, so were human beings. It’s a good thing us humans have come a long way since then.

sam the sham   November 5th, 2007 - 7:07 pm

billy: gonna invite every example into the sandbox are youns? The inuit actually have a legal agreement with fed and local governments, and a self imposed limit on how many whales can be killed annually. And they don’t kill all that many as it is. Now you wanna talk about the whaling industry vs cultrally historical traditions of native peoples and who impacts the whale popula…ok lets stop here and agree that this was a dead end tactic. Got anything to say about native americans slaughtering and wasting buffalo? I have plenty of examples of whites doing it.(not that this was ever in dispute or even part of the arguement. bottom line is that native americans have always been culturally more environmentally responsible than other american societies. Unfortunately for you and me, we need a 3-mile island type incident before we take things into account.)

Again. Lot’s of comments wishing harm or death on this woman born out of a paganistic worship of nature.

And again, paganism is an abomination to God. Take your chances for an eternity of damnation if you wish. I am just the messenger.

albino cereal killer v&getarian   November 5th, 2007 - 7:13 pm

That Minnesota woman is ignorant and devolved. Not unlike many of the comments on this thread.

I cannot imagine finding joy or taking pride in killing anything.

I’ve been a vegetarian for 35 years. I don’t have leather seats in my car. I am a member of PETA. I am against raising and farming small rodents and mammals so that narcissists that scream hate rhymes into microphones can wear dead animals on their heads, or drape 60 dead animal skin over arms covered in conflict diamond baguettes to pose at yet another self-congratulating award show. It’s all surreal to me.

That woman was joyful and proud of killing. I find such a thing utterly bizarre in a country where food is plentiful, and hunting and killing animals absolutely unnecessary. People that kill for sport, and to hang dead heads on walls are a complete mystery to me.

The one thing we cannot do, or have technology for, is the creation of life. Everything dies anyway. Why go out your way to cause the death of a living thing?

However, I understand plagues, disease, and animal overpopulation require solutions in some areas because of man-made imbalances in the natural ecosystems.

Call me a hippie treehugger. I don’t care. I’d rather see a method of deer birth control than have people out shooting animals and mounting heads on the walls. If science can spend 30 billion dollars so 72-year-old-lecher-men can cavort with a harems of implanted, botoxed and bleached nymphs in the name of “pornotainment”, why not throw some money at methods of balancing problem animal populations without unnecessary cruelty brutality and bloodshed?

Sure, it would be nice if this could be worked out in overpopulated human populations in India and Africa, but unfortunately, the government officers abscond with all the money. If those treasuries had 30 billion zillion rupees, the lower caste folk would not be getting benefits from it. They need people in power to defend and protect them.

Similarly, the lower caste beings and defenseless animals in the US have to have people, the upper caste, speak for and defend them.

Go ahead. Bombard me with ridicule. I don’t care.

Tina Neu   November 5th, 2007 - 7:15 pm

well, the interesting thing is that killing an albino deer is ILLEGAL in minnesota, and as far as i know this person will not be charged with criminal activity. regardless of her motives, and whether the thought of a dead animal turns you off/on, if it’s illegal then she should be charged.

the sickening thing about this is that the stupid woman doesn’t even have room to keep the deer once it’s mounted, so she just thought she’s call cabella’s sporting goods to see if THEY wanted it?!?!?!?!!!?? puh-leeeese! i pray for this woman, rather than feel contempt for her; imagine the kind of emotionally-stifling despair she must feel to live a life so barren of intelligence, compassion and DECENCY.

jerome   November 5th, 2007 - 7:17 pm

I can only conclude that she is retarded. I don’t know how a sane, rational person could do such a thing. That inbred pig of a woman should be bullwhipped for her stupidity.

Mikey   November 5th, 2007 - 7:17 pm

I have to believe this is all about whitey…and in fact some candid commenters have admitted as much. Whenever a white deer falls down a well, or goes-a-missing, the entire nation stops in its tracks. If this were a rare ebony deer that was gunned down in the prime of its life, we’d all be talking about how the violence was expected because his daddy left at an early age and he fell in with the wrong crowd. I’m so sick of the double standard with the media today!! Sigh!

Gretta   November 5th, 2007 - 7:19 pm

Yay, it’s always fun to shoot rare animals!

Billy Joe Jim Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 7:19 pm

Sam, you praise native americans and overlook their hunting endagered animals because it is “culturally important” and rail against this lady killing a not so endangered deer. Very confusing, you are. Why is it not culturally important to her? My bloodline has hunted for food or sport for generations and I bet most people post here have as well. Aah, but nobody wants to call their grandpa a murderer do they? Do we forget that we are not far removed from hunting and gathering as well? Why are native american’s special in that regard?

JJ   November 5th, 2007 - 7:21 pm

Hey, I have an idea. Let’s ban hunting and just have people roaming around the woods aborting freaks like this albino deer. Liberals would support that, right. Give me a break. This albino deer isnt rare like a rare gemstone. It isnt valuable. It is a freak of nature that will die early and frankly there are thousands of these creatures running around the country.

You said, “ALSO, BILL JOE BOB JIM STEVE, or whatever your name is…”God” gave “Adam and Eve” animal skins to clothe their bodies because CLOTH had not yet been invented!! Ya Schmoehock!! That is why we are the “superior” species; because we have been bright enough to invent things like cloth. But, I imagine you’re sitting at your computer dressed like an inuit??”

I realize that in a fit of anger, we often say things that are illogical or ill conceived. I’m sure that you understand that if God created the universe, along with Adam and Eve, he could have created cloth, as well. Adam and Eve were given animal skins to teach the spiritual concept that the covering of sin requires a blood sacrifice. Something had to be killed and blood had to be shed in order for the “sin covering” to be acceptable to God. I don’t expect you to agree or understand the concept.

I won’t address your hate speech regarding “Schmoehock,” which I suppose in your mind is a humorous reference to Mohawk. Same for your reference to “inuit.” My mother’s side of the family is Native American. I find your humor insulting.

We are not a “superior species” because we invented cloth. We are superior because we were created in God’s own image. We were assigned the task of steward of the Earth. We are to take care of it like any other gardener tends property for the property’s owner. And having herds of animals that are so large that they are forced to raid our landfills, dumpsters, and trashcans for food or starve to death is an indictment on our failure as stewards.

Lastly, there is no such thing as Karma. However, there are consequences for our actions. It’s a shame some people can’t see the difference. You can see just how unconsciously emotionalized some of these people are by noting how they substitute the word “dear” for “deer.”

Greg   November 5th, 2007 - 7:39 pm

I am not a hunter but I agree with the statement that she gives hunters a bad name. What is the point of killing a rare deer even if there are thousands of them why kill it? There are more then enough common deers to be had I would think.

Bloodletting   November 5th, 2007 - 7:40 pm

Do treehuggers really hug trees or do they just think they are all brilliant earth loving nipple heads?

Trees dont hug back, thats why I cut them down, i cut down 7 trees last weekend with an axe, damn that felt good to hear them scream.

TreeBugger   November 5th, 2007 - 7:40 pm

Since our need to combat deer overpopulation is due to human population growth and human environmental changes, I would respect the tree huggers more if they attempted to solve the source of the problem by becoming an hero and stepping in front of a gas guzzling SUV.

SCNTEXAS   November 5th, 2007 - 7:40 pm

I cannot believe this woman actually bragging about killing such a rare animal.

I’m not a hunter, just by nature of circumstances, but I do not understand this at all.

There is NOTHING the least bit “diseased” due to an albino gene in any animal. While their senses are somewhat effected by this genetic anomaly, the odds of this animal causing any harm to the deer population are miniscule.

Jason- It is not a disorder, simply a difference. Good try though.

Any claim that this act did ANYTHING to effect the population or long term “health” of a herd is an absurd attempt to excuse this idiot.

What an absolute, bimbo.

Mark   November 5th, 2007 - 7:42 pm

Well, I think saying G-D created animals for us to eat is a little convenient. I was talking with G-D the other day and he said that was totally taken out of context. He said Saint Francis, the brother of all creatures, had it right in interpreting ‘whatsoever you do to these, the least of my creatures, that you do unto me.’ I was like ‘WTF? Are you serious? Man, I can’t wait to post that.’ He did lol, but I don’t think he was lolling at me, so much as with me.

Shelley   November 5th, 2007 - 7:44 pm

These deer are the Rarest of the Rare.

She should be fined and stripped of hunting priviledges for life. THEY are PROTECTED in our beautiful State of WISCONSIN!!!

What are the DNR officials in MN thinking???

What was SHE thinking?

Would she shoot a deer that had wings???

Lone Wolf   November 5th, 2007 - 7:44 pm

You’re going to put a wild animal in a petting zoo? Ha! The definition of a fool is someone who doesn’t know what they are talking about, and isn’t even aware that they are doing it. People have become so insulated from nature it is truly pathetic. This woman understands so much more than you about what she is doing and why. I’m sure she is regretting giving this interview now, though.

Look – We are a part of nature, too. The land has a limited carrying capacity over the winter, and if you don’t harvest enough deer they will damage all of trees and many will starve to death anyway. A good single shot is a much more humane end and respects the animal more than sentencing them to the misery of starvation or being eaten alive. Reducing the size of the herd gives the rest (like pregnant females) a much better chance of making it through winter in relatively good shape. It’s not like these animals can live to retire to Arizona and play golf until they have a stroke – the truth is that bad weather or predators will naturally kill them well before they would die of old age. Albinism is rare because it has been deselected as a survival trait. Letting it propagate into the gene pool isn’t doing the deer any favors.

Billy Joe Jim Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 7:45 pm

Tom   November 5th, 2007 - 7:47 pm

It sounds to me like she had been watching the deer, hoping to be the first to get a crack at it. She probably called around to find out what it might be worth. When the clock ticked down to opening day, she had one eye on the deer through the scope, and the other eye on her watch. At the appointed hour, open fire! GOT HIM!! Quick, call Cabela’s, see if they want him. She thinks, maybe they will pose me with him. The great white (trash) hunter.

SCNTEXAS   November 5th, 2007 - 7:51 pm

I’m sorry for you Jason. It’s people like yourself who use Wikipedia as the resource for your wealth of knowledge, who pathetically quote the writings of the masses who spew such inane facts as it they are gospel.

Wikipedia is for morons who lack the desire to do research and Albinism is a genetic “anomaly” not a disorder.

Steve B   November 5th, 2007 - 7:52 pm

I echo the sentiments of most of the readers here. I’m neither vegetarian, nor hunter… any more. I came to the realization that hunting for survival is one thing, but hunting for recreation is another. Hunting for sport is hunting for the wrong reasons. I know that God permits hunting for survival, but I no longer feel in my heart that He approves of doing it solely for pleasure. God loves ALL his creations, not just we humans. “Do NOT take the life you can not give.”
I grew up as a hunter, but as I grew spiritually, I could no longer stomach it. Blood sport of ALL kinds is the natural man we must all overcome. One of my cousins once taught me what he learned in seminary — that God would hold us accountable for killing unnecessarily.
It makes me sick to think there are humans who view such beautiful creatures ONLY as something to be destroyed and mounted on a wall as a trophy.

Wayne   November 5th, 2007 - 7:55 pm

I truly think a long-lasting bout of cancer would be just the thing for this ignorant, hillbilly, ho.

I’m much more worried about her stupidity doing harm to the human genome than I am a single albino deer.

It’s stupidity such as this which gives gun-toters and hunters the stereo-typical reputations they actually don’t deserve. No one I know would kill such a rare animal just for the thrill of killing it.

Billy Joe Jim Bob   November 5th, 2007 - 7:55 pm

Steve B, why is hunting so bad? Just because you get the head stuffed doesn’t mean you can’t eat the rest. Why is killing your own food worse than paying the butcher to do it?

Jason   November 5th, 2007 - 7:56 pm

She is so dumb it hurts. “I just had to shoot it.” No, you didn’t. I don’t believe it attacked you in any way. And besides, it’s illegal in Minnesota to kill an albino deer. Please fine this woman and take away her hunting license for life!

Dave   November 5th, 2007 - 7:56 pm

Another white deer taken legally during hunting season (Congrats). I don’t get why everyone gets so excited. It’s just a deer like any other deer in the woods. There are so many deer now, they are now the new rats of the forest.

Benjamin   November 5th, 2007 - 7:59 pm

A couple of quick facts, that I’m sure some people are going to have a problem with, that feel compelled to offer comment on this story based on emotion and not fact. [1] Humans are omnivores this is a fact of science. We are physiologically set up, from the shape of our teeth to the function of our digestive tracks; to handle all shorts of food. Dietitians will argue as to what types of consumption is best. The Atkins folks; being obviously leaning more towards meat, and those of the vegan persuasion more towards vegetable. Each medically holds certain benefits and detractions. Neither has conclusively been proven, to increase life span. [2] “Albino deer” is neither a breed nor species of animal, it is an anomaly. This is not a rare or endangered animal it is a genetic abnormality called albinism, not good or bad, just is what it is. And further more a biologist/ecologist would tell you that any animal, with albinism in the wild is at disadvantage. The reason being, in the case of predatory/prey animals in North America both rely on camouflage to survive, in the case of albinism the animals are in contrast to there natural surroundings hence causing both there evading and stalking skills to be compromised, which WILL lead to a shorter life span. [3] Hunting is LEGAL. If you do not agree with it please contact your local politician. [4] Currently ALL species of deer in North America are not only NOT endangered, in many regions OVER populated, which is leading to concerns among some, that euthanatizing some herds may have to be an option in the not to distant future to prevent starvation. [5] Over hunting of predatory animals by humans during the 19th and early 20th century has now made it essential that humans become the balance maintainer of all species in our region whether you agree with it or not. Any one who actually reads all of this feel free to look it up any of the afore mentioned facts, than go back and start throwing around the name calling again….bottom line this is not a big deal……I know I know I’m just a fascist or some other brilliant bumper sticker term… come up with some new insults people.

It is illegal in Wisconsin to shoot an albino deer, but not here in Minnesota. Good luck with your research, and I do agree though that this redneck fatty should probably be out chasing the deer rather than sitting, eating mcdonalds, waiting to kill a whitey. I bet the NAACP is lovin it, ha ha.

Scott   November 5th, 2007 - 8:14 pm

I found this news story on the Drudge report. I’m a staunch Republican who very much believes in the right to arms. While not a hunter, my in-laws are and they live for the opening of deer season. My wife is a tough farm-girl and though city dwellers, we are very familiar with all types of hunting. We are God-fearing parents who believe in the sanctity of marriage as defined by God and we pray for the wisdom of the people of this country to “pass” on Hillary.

All things said, I cannot understand the actions of this woman. I find her motives completely self-serving and senseless. While I think the people here who wish her “dead” or “harmed” are absurd, but I couldn’t disagree more with her decision.

Shame on you.

Lone Wolf   November 5th, 2007 - 8:15 pm

Steve B

Considering the enormous amount of death that goes on in this world, what does that say about the nature of God? That he doesn’t love us? Or maybe he knows something we don’t.

So which is worse – the person who actually kills the food he eats, or the person who is blissfully ignorant of the deed and lets the pork chops spoil in the bottom of the refrigerator? I don’t “enjoy” killing animals for food, but I think hunting makes one appreciate life and the sacrifice of what you are eating much, much more than buying a dead chicken in the grocery.

people need to do some research first before they spout out “facts”. As it should be, it is legal to hunt albino deer in MN. (http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/young_naturalists/coloroncoloroff/index.html). This is just a different colored deer. It might look cool and be somewhat rare, but beyond that there is not much more to this story. As for the woman, they condensed an interview to fit into a tiny time slot. There is probably more to this than people get to see. The statement about having no room for the deer would probably pertain to having it stuffed. They are not going to waste good venison i would imagine..

WE HATE ALL HUNTERS!!!!!!! Nothing but mean vicious killers getting their rocks off by killing innocent creatures. We wish we could hunt them down – weed them out the way they say that’s what they do by hunting. They defend this by saying they eat the animals as well as kill them?!?!? PLEASE these killers give all of us kinder souls the creeps. And now look what this stupid woman did? You ALL STINK – lowlife redneck murderers get a different hobby.

Tim   November 5th, 2007 - 8:28 pm

just because some website says it is illegal, does that make it so? Why dont you check with the body that regulates this, the MN DNR? I read that i dont have to pay my taxes on one website.. i will have a lot more money to spend this year!

deptydog   November 5th, 2007 - 8:30 pm

OK, I’ve read most of the comments here, and somehow felt compelled to add my two cents.
First, I am a hunter and fisherman. Second, I hunt for the pleasures, several of them, that hunting brings. I believe it IS a sport to kill an animal that has the advantage of smell, sight, hearing, and natural camouflage. Second, I eat what I kill. Third, I hang trophies on the wall.
Having said that, I am appalled at this woman! First, this young buck was at a disadvantage from the time it emerged as a white deer, but it has made it this far. My heart wouldn’t let me be so disrespectful as to be the one to end it’s existence. Second, it was pitifully small. NOT a baby or fawn, but small enough I’d wait for a bigger one. I don’t care what color it was, give it a chance to be on some sort of even ground. This is SPORT, remember. But I think MY biggest peeve is the woman’s thought about selling it. Granted, she probably wants to sell the mount, meaning she may eat what little meat there is, but how “proud” can you be if you want to get rid of it already?
In her defense, it appears the woman made a good shot and brought it down humanely.
All this hate mail is terrible. I don’t agree with what the woman did, but I defend her right to do it.

Jack from Dayton   November 5th, 2007 - 8:32 pm

Albino question. I’m not trying to bait anyone into an argument, but does anyone know why the turkeys raised on turkey farms are all white? I usually am forced to buy one for the holidays from a turkey farmer, because wild turkey hunting licenses in Ohio are are issued through a lottery system and I haven’t won one in years.

Bluedun   November 5th, 2007 - 8:38 pm

I wonder if this was a real albino deer. Here in NYS we have a herd of white deer which are NOT albinos because they do not have the pink eye pigmented pupils. They live on an old Army depot and are protected. As far as hunting deer is concerned, if the deer population wasn’t managed through hunting seasons, there would be far more automobile accidents, and disease among the deer herds. Apparently those anti hunters have never seen the result of over population which is disease among the herds. There are more deer in NYS now than there were in the whole country in 1918!

Jack from Dayton   November 5th, 2007 - 8:39 pm

Dwain Petty,

I’ll make it easy for you, bro. All the gutless wonders will tell you that we should abort any baby we choose for any reason we can think of. But don’t shoot a deer; that would be wrong.

The fact that Wisconsin bans the shooting of albino deer tells you something about their relative rarity. I come from a family with generations of deer hunters, and I can assure you that none of us would have dreamed of doing what that woman has done. I am astounded at the ignorance and pride she is demonstrating, as well as the fact that her family and friends who are “thrilled”. I am also incredulous that the news station is highlighting this as something “exciting”. Just like the fisherman who is thrilled to catch a wily old muskie, but respects it enough to release it “to swim another day” (knowing that other fish can always put food on the table), a hunter with any sense of honor would not have “blasted” such a rare animal. If Minnesota would have had the proper law on the books, that woman should be doing jail time. I am proud to be an American, but sometimes we Americans can display the most appalling ignorance. Can’t we ever enjoy or admire something without having to make it “mine”? She doesn’t even plan to mount the head because she doesn’t have room for it, which makes the whole thing even more senseless and wasteful. She apparently just wanted to “kill it because it was rare”. This is the kind of thing that gives hunters a bad name.

Tboy   November 5th, 2007 - 8:45 pm

I believe it BLUEDUN. There are many animal rights activists who have more harm than good trying to protect certain species. Remember the Spotted Owl? How many jobs were lost and families broken apart for some stupid owl? Personally, I don’t hunt for sport or kill for pleasure, but I still side with the right to hunt.

Still in Mourning   November 5th, 2007 - 8:50 pm

All you no good, lying, hypocrit, new age city creeps should be taken out and shot.
You are idiots and fools.
You are the sheep of the world and will one day be the slaves of other countries.
You are the reason our country is falling apart. For two hundred years or so our country has been one of the strongest, most honorable, free nations on earth. We have made mistakes, but are free to correct them. For those years we worshiped god, learned to compete, hunted, fished, lived straight lives and went to work.
Now with all the liberal, feel good, lie for a cause, trashy, cityfied, psedo-educated, petasucking freeeeks, our country is going down the toilet.
Now, I won the argument because instead of logic and sane debate, I used the liberal tactic of calling bunches of names, putting out half truths and ignoring the rest of the world.
Hunting is good, clean fun and we hunters enjoy it. If you don’t like it, move to a country where you are not free to own guns or hunt. BTW, you probably wouldn’t have any other freedoms either.

Mike,
You are a total moron and should be shot.
Do the math.
“Odds of an albino deer being born: 1 in 100,000″
First, your facts are wrong. Do the research. Approximately one percent of deer are albino or piebald (two different things, you figure it out)
There are over 2 million deer in Texas, that would mean at LEAST 20,000 albino or piebald deer.
Boy, that sure is a rare animal.
Secondly, it is no baby. At least a 3 1/2 year old 6 point. That would make it very much a mature buck.
Get a life looser lib.
Personally, I don’t do name calling, but am finding it to be a bit cathardic to use the lib tactic of calling names.

to mike w

1.) Do you think it was wrong to have killed this deer? And if so why, briefly.

Yes I think it was wrong. She killed it for no reason other than she heard it was rare and figured it was a once in a lifetime chance. She went esepcially to find it because she heard it was rare. She is a moron. Now she plans on selling it so she doesn’t even want to eat it. Shes awful.

2.) Do you think hunting is wrong?
Not at all. Hunting is fine. I find it a little cowardly. If you did it with just a knife and your bare hands then that would seem much closer to a sport than shooting a defencelss animal with a gun but thats is not how it is. People huntn and have hunted foir years and I have absolutely no problem with it. I wish I could do ti but I wouldn;t have the stomach or nerve to do it. My friends who are hunters love it and I have no problem with them at all.

3.) Do you think that women in this country should have a right to on demand elective procedures to kill a life (if life is too strong of a word then just say a clump of cells and organs with a beating heart and moving limbs that reacts to it’s environment in it’s womb)?

Yes. I believe a women should be allowed to decide what happens to them and their bodies. I believe it is entirely up to the woman who is pregnant to decide. For so called opponents of big government you guys really don’t mind coming into peoples bedrooms and even their bodies to makew sure the law fits in with your views. Lets face it guns have one purpose and one purpose only. Can anyoen seriously tell me how a couple of dudes getting amrried effects anyone other then the 2 guys getting married? Seriously what difference does it make to anyone. I am married and if ted and joe down the road want to get hitched that does not having any effect on my own marriage at all.

(edited my curse word..sorry about that)

They are made to kill and I find it hilarious so many pro life people are obsessed with making the right to own something designed for death and death only is never changed. But to each their own.

I mean I still have not been given a decent reason as to whay so many conservatives are against gay marriage? I’ll tell you what it’s all about, Alfie. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist.) Because it blurs the line between right and wrong, normal and abnormal, perverse and common, moral and immoral. It dooms our children to believe the lie that there is no right and wrong, no black and white; only shades of gray. Actions have consequences. Not teaching this is unfair to them.

mike   November 5th, 2007 - 10:15 pm

that deer was a mature deer. given the body size looks to be 1.5 to 2.0 years old considering that the normal lifespan of a normal deer is 4 years. and the normal lifespan of an albino is 9 months. without the natural brown camo of the fur these albinos are easy targets for cyotes. and for you over sensetive tree huggere im glad for the deer that it was humanley taken by a hunter. if i had the choice id rather be dropped in my tracks from a bullet then slowwly chewed and ripped to death by a cyote. i say congrats to her.

I’m an avid Minnesota sportsmen. I love hunting deer, bear, moose when the raffle allows and every kind of wild poultry. The MN DNR allows licensed hunters to shoot wild Deer and Bear with tracking collars. I think people who shoot them are greedy idiots. Although she had a right to shoot the albino deer, it certainly wasn’t something I agree with. Her judgment was poor. This little episode will guarantee new protective laws in my state. But there will always be people who poach and circumvent the law and make sportsmen look bad. It’s unfortunate she chose to shoot it. But remember, she had every legal right to do so.

alexa   November 5th, 2007 - 10:49 pm

Hey Sean,

I could be wrong, I haven’t the time or inclination to read every single comment above, but I think most folks here object to killing a beautiful creature just to kill it. People who hunt to feed themselves and do not kill except to feed themselves, are not the issue.

Killing a creature “just because” does not make sense.

Drai   November 5th, 2007 - 10:58 pm

LOLZ, the last thing that fatty needs is more food. In any case, venison is a lean meat; the only way she’d eat it would be wrapped in a Dove bar dipped in gravy. If not for modern medicine that can control blood pressure, treat diabetes and stop heart attacks, despicable people like this “woman” would be out of the gene pool too, you know. Unfortunately, they are now a far more common occurrence than an albino deer.

reply to "still in mourning"   November 5th, 2007 - 11:02 pm

If that story is true, it’s a great tragedy.

Even if it’s not true, freak accidents happen. People are struck by lightning, branches break from trees, fires can start spontaneously. I remember years back a famous film director was killed driving on a freeway when a metal pipe flew through the front windshield and hit him in the head.

It your family was killed in a car accident invovling a deer, I send my sincere condolences.

It makes no sense to want every deer in the world to die. It won’t ease your suffering.

I’ve seen footage of a man in Pakistan who watched his father dragged away by a tiger when they were out hunting for firewood at the most dangerous time of day, but were desperate to find fuel to stay warm. This man had not left his hut in 6 years. But what good did this do him? He was alive, but he was in his own prison.

Chris   November 5th, 2007 - 11:20 pm

What kind of news station reports on this like it was some “feel good human interest” story to end the newscast? Showing a rare dead animal? I’m from the midwest and i’ve never in my life seen a newstory of a hunter gleefully recounting his or her kill. Shame on that news director.

You wrote, “Who defines right or wrong, black or white, Jack? A few years ago it was “right” to lynch someone of a different color, while it was “wrong” for any woman to wear long pants. Etc. And so on.”

If you are religious, your doctrine provides your definitions
If you have core beliefs, they provide your definitions.
But if you are not anchored to something solid, you will drift like flotsam, any way the wind blows.
In the 60’s you believed in the coming ice age, now you believe in global warming.
In the 70’s you hated Nixon and the big government, now you love Hillary and the huge entitlement programs of big government.
In 2001 you were rattling your sabre after 9/11, now you want peace at any cost.

If you’re not anchored, you will drift in confusion, following the cause of the day.

My friend, there is black and there is white. It is not unfair or unjust, it’s just the way it is. And there is right and there is wrong.

Hunting isn’t culturally important to anyone. Pooping is more culturally important. You want culturally important, put down the booze and drugs and take care of your family.
Hehe, destroying millenia-old religious artifacts is culturally important to muslims, but does that mean they should do it?
Killing dolphins is culturally important to the japanese, but does that mean they should do it?
My father (also part native American), was an abusive drunk and, let me tell you, I prefer to think going to college and being athletic were more culturally important than following in his foot-steps. To give him some credit though, he’d shoot a hunter on his property.

Mark   November 6th, 2007 - 8:21 am

As for hunting being a sport – I’ve never seen it and probably never will. If I felt the need to hunt, which is an admirable skill (tracking, creeping, ’striking’), I’d choose to do it with a camera. I prefer fighting as a sport – it’s productive, fulfilling, and your opponent generally is exactly as matched as you are (or, unfortunately, sometimes better).
I don’t, though, have all the answers as to how man and animal can co-exist, or even how animals can co-exist. I imagine all things will work out in the end, though … it’s not like the earth will become so teaming with man that we have to crawl all over each other like roaches – we’ll starve or cannibalize first.
Hehehe, I recommend you watch Idiocracy, I resisted at first but it’s a damn good movie.
Anyway, Americans are not the worst abusers of animals by far (in general) – Asia is an animal’s worst nightmare … even worse than vick’s household. I’m betting Africa is no prize either.

anton   November 6th, 2007 - 8:42 am

It’s a shame that one of her fellow hunters did not have a Dick Cheney moment. One rare white alibino killed in exchange for one not so rare fat white American. One a creature of beauty the other an obese
idiot. She kills animals for pleasure and the ability to gloat to her family and friends. Hopefully somewhere along the line karma will equal the balance for this vile woman.

AJ   November 6th, 2007 - 10:34 am

I don’t see why so many people have trouble with someone killing an albino deer. “it is so majestic and rare…blah blah blah.” Did you ever stop to think why albinos were so rare? Why you rarely see one in old age? Regardless of the species, albinos are less well suited to living than their full color counterparts. Cursed with poor eyesight and an inability to blend into surrounding landscape this animal would have most likely fallen to a non-human hunter rather quickly anyway. I think it it much better for this woman to have given people a glimpse of what they wouldn’t normally see. Maybe if she had, had the equipment I would say she could have captured it alive for an exhibit at a zoo or some sort of nature show, but I am sure she was not equipped for this sort of capture. Also, it still sickens me greatly to read people wishing harm and death on someone who hunts… and you say hunters have issues…

Ryan Miller   November 6th, 2007 - 10:37 am

Exactly, what makes you all wishing harm on others any different than a hunter?

Bogtrotter52   November 6th, 2007 - 10:40 am

Hey Rex. If there ever is a civil war, it will be over rather quickly if one side are tree and animal huggers with a “Thou shalt not kill” attitude. In fact, lets have the civil war right before hunting season. It will be good practice shooting to sharpen our skills

christian   November 6th, 2007 - 10:51 am

HERE COMES THE LOGIC!

As stated by the pro shoot crowd:
1. There are too many deer
2. The albino is a detriment to the herd
THEREFORE, it would be in EVERYONE’S interest to allow the deer to live as an effective means to reduce the overall number of deer. Meanwhile, hunters can still do their part to diminish the population by hunting the healthiest, most successful specimens.

As for “shooting it before a wolf gets it”, that argument is somewhat hollow, if a wolf gets it, fine, so goes nature. The difference here is that wolves are doing what is completely natural, and are operating outside of a moral code. This makes the wolf an innocent, only living up to it’s natural instincts. For humans, hunting is a choice, which makes this interaction much more complicated. “It was just going to get killed anyway”, is a pretty lame argument and not one any “thinking” human would use.
That, of course, is my opinion. It is also my opinion that the woman was not using her full cognitive powers at the time, as anyone in their right mind would be able to predict this mess as a result of shooting that animal. Whether we like it or not, there are idiotic lefties who would think this woman “deserves to be shot” for her “offense”. This woman, in her own idiocy, has jeapordized the safety of herself and her family through this action. Highly irresponsible, if you ask me.

Also, comparing hunting to abortion is a case of apples and oranges. The morals and reasoning behind the two acts are entirely on different levels. However, if one wishes to treat them equally: The pro-shoot crowd is quick to state the utility of shooting deer, yet base their pro-life views strictly on emotion when it comes to humans. From a utilitarian viewpoint, abortion makes a huge amount of sense. The pro-shooter is more than willing to put this deer “out of it’s misery” yet demand a no income crack baby with mental retardation have every right to lead a miserable, tortured life.
So there you go, a little REASON on the subject, all from a lefty who doesn’t hunt but does recognize the need for wildlife managment and respect those who hunt responsibly. I have friends who guide who I hold in very high esteem and respect. Also, I’ve lived in areas where “getting your meat” was an important and neccesary part of life, and even was part of the process by working at a game processing plant.
Now I live on the coast, when a fisherman catches a huge lobster, or a blue one, they do all they can to keep it alive because they know that the “special ones” are worth much more to all of us alive. I don’t see any difference here.
Oh yeah, one last thing. One of the MAIN reasons we have too many deer is HUNTING. Hunting and fishing licenses do more to pay for our wild spaces than anything else and constitutes a powerful lobby. Without hunters, we wouldn’t have so much open space left in our country, and we all know deer don’t eat tarmac. Non hunters should be thankful for this, as we wouldn’t have all those wild spaces to enjoy if it weren’t for the hunters and fishers who PAY for it. Think about that, lefties. And you hunters, keep hunting, but please, don’t leave your brains in the truck. Be responsible in thought and action. THINK before you shoot.

Nate   November 6th, 2007 - 10:53 am

WOW all of you complaining about hunting. Fine we’ll stop hunting deer. I just don’t want to here any of you complain when you hit a deer in car(possibly totaling the car or get killed cause most people swerve to miss the deer). Also don’t complain when your insurance rates go up cause of the deer/car accidents. Make sure you don’t complain when your food prices increase as well because deer destroy alot of crops. Deer hunting is legal mainly for the above reason and if the deer population was left uncontrolled all of the above would happen. Contrary to popular belief nature alone will not keep the deer heard in check. Do some research there are states that inacted deer hunter to control the population only because the population was getting out of hand.

It has been stated the deer is not that rare there are and will be more. At least now some people can see the deer where as if it was left in nature only a handfull of people would have seen anyway and no one would ever known that it existed.

I for one would have shot that deer for the following reasons.

1. I eat deer meat
2. get the undesirable trait out of my hunting grounds.
3. It would be a nice conversation piece hanging on the wall.
4. To do my part in controling the deer population.

All of the people bashing this woman and saying harm should come to her, this is absolutely pathetic. I hope that I never meet any of you, because you have major issues and must be very unstable.

Toothless dumb redneck   November 6th, 2007 - 11:01 am

Save a bunch on car insurance, shoot the white deer.

I liked Mike’s comment above…. This is a free country, if you don’t like hunting then don’t do it.

If you don’t like meat, don’t eat it. If you want to be defenseless don’t own a gun.

However please don’t impose your values on me or this woman. It takes a lot of different people to make a great country.

Saying ‘if you don’t like hunting, don’t do it, just don’t impose your values on us’ is, to me, like saying ‘if you don’t like rape, don’t do it, just don’t impose your values on us.’

http://www.southeastern outdoors. com/outdoors/ hunting/ hunting-albino -deer-illegal .html

By the way ,

IT IS ILLEGAL TO SHOOT AN ALBINO DEER IN THE FLYOVER TRASH STATE OF MINNESOTA. I AM REPORTING THIS B*TCH.

T Sloss   November 6th, 2007 - 12:39 pm

This woman legally shot a deer. What is the problem? Albino deer are deer. People shoot deer in deer season. White deer do not blend in to the background very well. That’s why shooting one with antlers is “rare”. They usually die long before this happens. Nature practices survival of the fittest, or in this case the most able to hide. Shooting an albino is a personal choice, and you are all free to not shoot them, just as the predators are free to not attack them. Of course, predators see them as easy meals, as do many hunters. Most of the folks complaining wouldn’t really feel a lot better if she shot a brown deer. It too is a beautiful animal; also edible. You buy your license, and make your choices. She bought hers, and also made a choice. It was legal, and she is happy with her choice. Perhaps we should mind our own business.

im not even sure that that is an albino deer. just because you dont have them everywhere in minnesota doesnt mean that they are an albino animal. in texas we have fallow deer. its a european species and it looks exactly like that deer. i work at a wildlife park and they run around everywhere. even the bucks are small just like that one. sorry, i dont think you have an albino deer. its called a european fallow.

Mike   November 6th, 2007 - 1:09 pm

T Sloss
The only issue with your argument is that in the state of Minn. it is NOT legal to shoot an albino deer. Here is the link to the legislation.
http://ros.leg.mn/bin/getpub.php?pubtype=SLAW_CHAP&year=2004&session_number=0&keyword_type=exact&keyword=albino+deer&chapter=215

I agree buy your license, follow the rules and regulations and make your choice. In this case she made the wrong choice, it was illegal in her state.

I am a hunter and follow all of the rules and regulations. Most of the rules are centered around safety and conservation. If you do not agree with those rules and regulations it is your responsibility to engage your elected officials to enact change. Until that time it is the hunters responsibility to follow them.

No matter how much the anti-hunting population would like to tie hunting to rape and abortion, the argument does not make sense. The mentality of this population is why most states have stiff penalties if you harass a hunter. If you do not like hunting please do not participate or try to infringe on our rights. You have my word that I will not lobby my congressmen to take way your right to hug the nearest tree.

Enjoy the outdoors and share it with someone else.

Toothless dumb redneck   November 6th, 2007 - 1:16 pm

With one notable difference Mark, last time I checked there were laws against rape. Hunting is legal. Too bad for you tough guy.

Mark   November 6th, 2007 - 1:42 pm

Ah, legality and justice are two different concepts. For example, shari’a law is far from just – but it excuses a lot of horrible actions because they’re legal. Regardless, I didn’t say ‘in the eyes of the law,’ I think I said ‘to me’ and in reference to how someone posed the moral argument of ‘don’t impose your values on me’ … exactly the same thing the taliban and many others say about our views on basic human rights.

Mike   November 6th, 2007 - 1:48 pm

Mark
Go live with the taliban for a while and report back how you liked it!!

“What a redneck piece of white trash”

Just remember Karma people and the fact that what goes around, comes around.

I do not agree with her shooting the deer for the reasons she states, “It’s beautiful and rare, so I shot it.” IMHO, that shows ignorance.

I think it is sad that she shot it, and states that she doesn’t even think she has room for it. What a waste.

For those that say she did the deer a favor because it would have been (oh God no) hunted and killed by a “natural” predator, that’s why they are there.

For those of you that have said, “that the deer population has gotten out of control”, you are correct.

But is is because of the fact that the land they graze on is growing smaller, and their natural predators are being killed off by other hunters, trappers and new diseases.

I’m not against hunting. I’m against people who just like to go out and shoot things.

Mike:

according to this link: http://www.southeasternoutdoors.com/outdoors/hunting/hunting-albino-deer-illegal.html
it is legal to shoot albinos in Minn. If not, going on TV was real smart. The eyes do not look pink, so it may be a piebald (or pinto). To have a six point rack means it is VERY unlikely this was a “baby”. Albinos rarely have as nice a rack as the “normal” deer.
As far as Mark goes, I’d have to agree, I think it should be legal to hunt taliban too. Mark’s quite an athelete to be able to make a leap like that!! Carl Lewis would have been proud of that one!! Let me try one: If it’s OK to shoot a deer with “defective” genes, we should also be allowed to shoot people with defective ideas. Or how about this one: If we eat cows, then Hindu’s should be able to sue us for cannibalism, since my steak could be their great uncle. Hey Mark, this is fun.
Lastly, legality and justice are not really 2 different issues (or concepts – concepts are ideas, ever get a ticket for a thought about going too fast in your car?): Justice is the consequence of falling outside the realm of legality. What so many here talk about is not legality or justice; they’re talking about personal opinions or choices about an action within the legal spectrum. I doubt choices play out much in the Taliban. And Mark, don’t forget to cool down properly so you don’t pull a muscle.

Woman Hunter   November 6th, 2007 - 2:24 pm

I applaud her for getting her deer! She hunted in a fair chase manner, had a legal license to deer hunt, and being that Minnesota does NOT protect albino deer, she has every right to take the animal. GOOD FOR HER!

A deer having 6 points is over the age of “Bambi”. This deer should be culled in order to keep the genetics strong in the herd. Weak genetics only breeds immunity problems and leads to illness.

The only sad part of this situation is that anti-hunters and animal activists will never understand and doesn’t want to understand the concept of wildlife management.

Molly   November 6th, 2007 - 2:56 pm

This makes me want to throw up for so many reasons.

Mark   November 6th, 2007 - 2:58 pm

Put down the crack-pipe, Mike – you’re preaching to the choir. Unless there was a hunting right embedded in the U.S. Constitution I don’t know about, anyway …
Don’t hate me because I know right from wrong – I’m a diehard Conservative, unfortunately for hunting wimps, I have compassion for sentient creatures – now if a deer was dealing drugs out of the back of a tree stump, I’d say shoot him and be done with it for the greater good.
Hunters want to do something useful, head to the border with tranq guns.

VGP   November 6th, 2007 - 3:12 pm

It would have been nice to let the deer live , but in real life if that woman wouldn’t have killed it you can bet your jerky maker that there would have been someone else just over the next hill with an itchy finger on their trigger. I don’t hunt but everyone I know does . If it’s a legal animal then it was fair game and more power to her . Before you start crying about the way this animal was taken down , it might be worth taking a look at where steaks , ham and other livestock meat and byproducts come from . A quick bullet without any stress is a whole lot more humane than what goes on in various slaughterhouses. So get real and get over it.

Mark   November 6th, 2007 - 3:45 pm

In that regard, I agree with VGP. When I watch movies like ‘Hostel’ or ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ re-makes, I figure that is pretty much from the animal perspective. You want a good look at breeding grounds for sociopaths, check the slaughterhouses. If you’re going to eat processed meat, at least try for free-range stuff – at least they have some illusion of freedom before the axe falls.
Well, anyway, I follow the Golden Rule, regardless of it’s origin. I don’t want to go out like food, I don’t treat animals like food. Course, with my luck, I’ll be eaten by a shark … or a rabid weredeer.

Toothless dumb redneck   November 6th, 2007 - 3:54 pm

The deer would make a nice throw rug or possibly a baby blanket.

I actually think the deer wanted to die. Much like Rudolph he was excluded by the other deer because he was different.

Bunny   November 6th, 2007 - 3:57 pm

I especially love meat from rare baby animals. I prefer deformed kittens and bunnies best. Really anything cute or genetically mutated are the most tender and delicious.
I support Peta too. People Eating Tasty Animals.

Question:

“What do you feel when you shoot a rare albino 6 point deer”?

Answer:

“Recoil”

George   November 6th, 2007 - 4:43 pm

For those that hunt, bringing home food they killed (knowing where it comes from and how it got to your tabel) is an honorable thing. It beats getting that burger at McFatty’s and having no clue where it came from or how it got to your table. I honor hunters – I am one myself, but I wouldn’t have shot this deer. It is not very mature and besides that, on a Native American perspective, albino animals are sacred. I can respect that, and in so respecting someone’s belief on its sacred nature, I’d have more fun watching it through binoculars and checking out a once in a limetime event. That lady should think more about these choices in life. Obviously she didn’t here.

Rob   November 6th, 2007 - 4:53 pm

Woman Hunter, albinism isn’t about weak genetics or about breeding immunity problems that lead to illness. Get your facts straight before you lecture the rest of us.

“I applaud her for getting her deer! She hunted in a fair chase manner, had a legal license to deer hunt, and being that Minnesota does NOT protect albino deer, she has every right to take the animal. GOOD FOR HER!”

It isn’t about whether she had the “right” to do it. Of course she had to right. It’s about preserving something unique and beautiful. White tigers are a genetic anomaly…should we have killed them off as well to perserver genetic purity?? I don’t understand this stupidity.

Mr_Ramirea   November 6th, 2007 - 4:56 pm

Sometimes it’s embarrassing to be a human being.

I agree with Steve. Sometimes it’s embarassing to be a human being!

Why are we killing our rare animals? This incident reminds me of an article I read recently: “Scientists Find Oldest Living Animal, Then Kill It”

GREAT JOB FOLKS!! If you’re a rare animal, I suggest you go into hiding unless you’re suicidal.

AAron, I didn’t google it to find out if it was illegal in Minnesota. I contacted the Fish, Wildlife and Parks folks in my state and asked if it was illegal. THEY told me it was illegal. Are we not part of nature? Answer: yes we are so if any animal is taken by a human than that is nature taking its course. Did we not come from the same place, or whatever you want to call it, as every animal on this earth? Answer: yes we did so that means we are part of nature. Maybe this lady was wrong, maybe she was right. Maybe she shouldn’t be so happy that she killed this animal, maybe she shouldn’t. Every person’s opinion is different, but when an opinion is based off of ignorance, like 95% of these comments are, than that is unacceptable and in my opinion almost all of the people that have posted need to be educated. The fact that some people have become so far away from their natural instincts and think that killing an animal no matter what type or rarity, not that I don’t think killing an endangered animal is a good thing to do, is a SIN is just unacceptable and anyone who feels that way should be ashamed of themselves. I cannot express the amount of helplessness I feel in that none of the 95% of the people that have posted on this topic can be helped and they will never understand the true meaning of what it is to be human.

Paul   November 8th, 2007 - 5:47 pm

Besides murdering this poor innocent young animal, she is so mindless that she actual enjoyed it and thinks it was a great accomplishment. She and her other mindless admirers like: “matt cox”, “Alex”, “Fred”, “Spidey”, etc. hopefully will suffer a shorten life and witness death up close and personal very soon. But what else bothers me is that the Minn. TV network broadcasted this murder as if it were something amazing and joyful event. They (the network) are just as mindless as the others.

Paul   November 10th, 2007 - 8:56 pm

“Tom November 7th, 2007 – 11:30 pm”: The reason why 95% of the people who commented on this subject were against the slaughtering of this precious life, is because unlike you, you ignorant low life, they know right from wrong. Furthermore, it is NOT human to MURDER other animals FOR FUN!!! As the moron in this interview did smiling and laughing. Although, I am sure this is beyond your understanding. You really are a jerk!

just curious if one would serve a white wine with such delicious meat. It would seem a bordeaux or burgundy would surely overpower the wonderful flavor. BIG GAME   November 15th, 2007 - 1:45 pm

A guy in my camp shot himself a 3 point albino deer that is about 4.5 years old on Tuesday 11-13-07. Those of you who do not understand the meaning of hunting should silence yourselves! But, since you dont have the common sense to understand that, you probably do not have the ability to silence yourself! These albino deer are NOT a special specie, but are in fact a genetic deformation. Deer are NOT suppose to be white! Shooting these albinos are in fact doing the herd a favor, for deer use their natural brown fur as camouflage to help protect themselves from predators. So in essense, its further protecting the herd of deer to come. That goes for all animal species! Now as for the rarity of this albino deer for us hunters, this deer WILL be mounted. As most hunters mount their big bucks with large racks because of the rarity of the size of the racks makes this albino an even more prized animal. Those of you who do not understand never will, I offer my sympathy to you and yours!

BIG GAME   November 15th, 2007 - 3:29 pm

I do agree however that this woman didnt have to call the local news affiliate and brag about it! My friend has no intentions of contacting anyone. Hunting is hunting, not a media circus!

G*D-Dam* tree huggers. Deer are just big rat’s. I have shot 20 deer or so in the last 10 years and not eaten’ any of them. Gut em’ and give them to people who need the meat. How many of you stupid city people even see a deer in your back yard? None because you took their habitat! I can’t believe that everyone (the killer and news people) are acting like this is a remarkable event to celebrate. What’s wrong with the mentality of Minnisota people? How much courage could it have taken to kill this naive creature that was barely the size of a miniture pincher. How much meat could you possibly gain for your already robust body. Are you really proud that you killed a rare creature that will never again walk the earth? Your no better then a elephant or dolphin killer.

Patricia   January 9th, 2008 - 8:37 pm

Anyone that can have a hunter mentality, is missing a few sparks. On our drive home from the Christmas holiday in Florida, we kept seeing dead beagle dogs about every 6 miles on I 95. There were easily 20 dead dogs in the medians of the Georgia and South Carolina states. Later we found out it was because it’s deer season. The hunter’s let their hunting dogs chase the deers onto the highway. (sick)

Tim Roeschlein   January 11th, 2008 - 2:22 pm

I live about a mile from where the albino was shot. I’m an avid deer hunter and what this woman did was legal according to Minnesota law. The problem I have is in the interview she states that she plans on selling the deer to Cabela’s. It’s against the law to buy or sell the carcass of any big game animal here in Minnesota. The key word here is “carcass”. If she has the deer mounted with her own money, she can then legally sell it. Obviously, she shot the deer to sell it. That’s as low as it gets in my book.
Actually, albino sightings here are more common than rare. Think I’m kidding? Plan a trip to the Father Hennipen State Park in Isle Mn. Winter or summer, you’r odds of seeing an albino here are 99.9%. I know of at least six albinos that live in the park year round. I think alot of people must feed them (that,s a no no) because they run right up to you’r vehicle! There is a petition to make it illegal to hunt albinos in Mn. so if you’r in the Isle area and you want to make a difference stop in any of the businesses and sign it.

Bambi   February 15th, 2008 - 7:58 pm

Greedy, sick. There are plenty of other creatures to hunt and kill to eat. Leave it to a ’stupid’ person to kill a sacred being. Makes us all look bad. It would have been nice to keep him alive for the gene poole. To celebrate the diversity of being.

WHAT A STUPID WOMAN.

Jonathan   December 6th, 2008 - 7:38 am

I have nothing against those who hunt for food, nor those who hunt to cull the deer population. Where I live, if they *didn’t* hunt the deer it would hurt the deer population, actually, because they over-breed for what the land can sustain and then starve to death. Without natural predators, they need humans to keep them in check. That’s why deer hunting season extends and shrinks at times…wildlife officials manage the amount of hunting to ensure that the deer population is kept under control but not devastated.

I would have said to let this one live because of its uniqueness; I do understand those who point out it being genetically defective, but it’s still beautiful.

Those who decry hunting as unnatural, though, need to take a serious look at lions, wolves, spiders, and all the other predators in the wild. To be concerned whether something is rare or beautiful is a purely human trait. Animals are concerned only with eating. Wolves have no problem eating an endangered species. And it’s not just eating, really. Cats, after all, have shown an avid interest in toying with prey and killing them for sport. Most of the animal kingdom will kill another animal for invading its territory. Male lions will kill other male lions simply to mate with their females.

Humans are the only creatures that seem to have any capacity to feel guilty about killing things. It’s part of being human and part of the conscience that God implanted within us. And, morally, I object to killing for the sport or fame of it. But killing for eating is no less *natural* than what’s done by any other predator, so let’s make a separation there. Humans are unique, not merely animals, and that’s part of why we feel a sense of guilt.

[...] Here’s a story if someone that saw one and decided to shoot it. [...]

Chris   January 9th, 2009 - 10:23 pm

What I found hilarious as I scrolled down this… A lot of you complain about how she could be heartless, and kill an animal, then demand she should be killed.

The best one I saw was something about one of “Gods” commandments and “Thou Shalt Not Kill” then demanding a Civil War (a.k.a. KILLING).

Then further down someone foolishly posted about lions and tigers and cheetahs implying that Minnesota has no natural predators of deer. Hmm.. Yeah I guess Coyotes and Bears don’t exist. You ingrate. Don’t talk about a state you obviously don’t live in, or don’t talk about something if you choose to blatantly ignore other aspects of the same argument.

It’s a deer, it’s an albino which is usually viewed as a negative and weakness in nature. In any case, who cares. It’s a deer, rather it be shot than die in a car accident and total someones car.

Yeah, I hunt, I’m from Minnesota, I live in a town of 800. (I must be a hick/hillbilly/inbred/moron who didnt finish school). Yet somehow I’m a computer programmer for one of the best hospitals in the world. Go figure.

Andy   October 23rd, 2009 - 12:12 pm

I am an avid sportsmen, well educated, business owner that admires nature and loves the outdoors. I have passed up many deer in my hunting career because they are too small, with fawns, etc. BUT FOLKS…. Guess what – I shot a 5 year old albino doe in 2003. We mounted the deer, processed all the meat, used every part of the deer. Albinoism is genetic defect…. Yes the animal is beautiful and rare, but do you PETA creeps think that Edgar Winter (Albino Rock Star) is beautiful??? It is a genetic defect, why would you protect that? Why is she a bad person? She did not break any laws. If our liberal state does not consider shooting an albino deer illegal; and some of you commented that you would rather have had her hit by a truck than see this albino die is sick… You need a reality check..

Malignancy   December 19th, 2009 - 12:34 am

It is truly sad that so many of you people are filled with so much hate. Wishing death upon a woman for shooting a deer? Come on, get a grip!
