There boos and cheers, not just booing.

It’s a sign of a free country where people can boo their leader and not be thrown into a gulag.

Teresa   March 30th, 2008 - 9:31 pm

Many people are really rude these days to EVERYONE. They are classless, base, crude, carnal and in most cases these people are filthy in speech and mind. Pay them no heed Mr. President.

lou dobbs fan   March 30th, 2008 - 9:51 pm

It is not just liberals who are upset with Bush. I am a Republican, and sick to death at how Bush has Mexicanized my nation in a few short years.

Bunny   March 30th, 2008 - 10:03 pm

I heart George Bush.

Fans Boo President Bush » The American Mind   March 30th, 2008 - 10:06 pm

[...] That describes all those who booed President Bush at the Washington Nationals’ opening game [...]

Tulok   March 30th, 2008 - 10:18 pm

xdem; I didn’t forget that. It’s just that I also remember Clinton leaving office with 68% approval rating.

Bush on the other hand will be lucky to get out with even 38% of Americans still supporting him.(He’s at 35%.)

Seems like America is more concerned about wars and the economy then they are about a mysterious stain.

charlie   March 30th, 2008 - 10:37 pm

What leftist pig writes these headlines. I heard cheers and some boos, but mostly cheers.

DemToDrain   March 30th, 2008 - 10:41 pm

DC is out of touch. The sheep are in lockstep.

JimBo   March 30th, 2008 - 10:43 pm

Even though I am a gay man who has been persecuted by the government I still feel it is wrong to boo the President, the headline was totally misleading.

Ed   March 30th, 2008 - 11:07 pm

It wont be long before a whole lot of people will
be truly missing this guy. Dealt one (if not
the toughest) hands a president has ever been
dealt, and he has hung tough and taken some very brave stands that so few understand let alone appreciate.

So many weak minded people–but they’ll
get it some day.

Fej Sallenro   March 31st, 2008 - 12:02 am

Totally misleading headline. Sure, there were a fair number of classless jackasses booing our President, but there were more who were cheering him, and of course, as he as always done, he carried himself with dignity and grace. No matter what else is said, and no matter how the wacko far left wants to spin it (failing to mention that the Democratic controlled Congress has a third lower approval ratings than Bush does!), this man has protected our country since we were attacked, and brought honor back to the office of the Presidency that Clinton so crassly sullied. And you can be certain that when Mr. Bush leaves the White House in November, Laura Bush won’t be stealing the silverwear and dishes, nor will his staff be removing keys from the typewriters and computer keyboards the way his predecessor’s wife and staff did.

God bless you, George W. Bush. You’ve faced the toughest times any President since Kennedy has had to face while in office, and risen to the challenge with a steadfast and courage that many of us our proud of. My only disappointment, Mr. President, is that you didn’t spend more time talking to the nation to better articulate your positions and let idiots like Michael Moore, Tom Daschle, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi take so many unanswered cheap shots at you.

You’ve done great in many areas, Mr. President.

Christopher   March 31st, 2008 - 1:38 am

I don’t approve of all of President Bush’s policies, and I can name many politicians on both political sides that I despise, however, that never grants you the right to disrespect an elected official. It’s dishonorable, disrespectful, and I for one am ashamed today of my fellow Americans. Courage, it certainly takes a person of leadership to walk out and stand firm on his principles.

Reaps   March 31st, 2008 - 3:12 am

Guy’s got some guts. And the boos got drowned out post-pitch, so the guy must have an arm, too.

Still seen worse in Oz. As long as you’re a polly, you’re screwed when it comes to being on the public platform..

eastsideboyz   March 31st, 2008 - 3:37 am

worst president ever
throws like a phucking pussee for his age

Dan, St. Louis   March 31st, 2008 - 4:30 am

Well at least they are Equal Opportunity offenders, they booed Sheila Jackson Lee in Texas yesterday.

aokishay   March 31st, 2008 - 5:02 am

Fej – you ignorant lemming. GW has done more harm to this country than 5 presidents before him – more than 4000 US dead and 100,000s of Iraqis, more than half of which were innocent collateral. Impeachable and internationally criminal offenses. Someone needs to slap that evil silly smirk off his face – then we’ll cheer.

Tulok   March 31st, 2008 - 5:29 am

“Sign of a country where free people can boo their leader and not be thrown into a gulag…”

No arguing with that, but if I might add, it’s also a sign of one of the least popular American presidencies in history.

I don’t know if I’ve ever heard booing like that at a presidential first pitch.

david   March 31st, 2008 - 5:33 am

Hey… that’s life inside the beltway. Liberals rule this town. Of course the majority of them don’t mind taking the government paycheck they get every Friday.

Steve   March 31st, 2008 - 5:44 am

A spattering of boos. So what. If you didn’t bash Bush, you’d have nothing to write about.

xdem   March 31st, 2008 - 5:51 am

TULOCK How soon we forget the roar of boo’s william jefferson clinton got across the USA after he stained up monica’s blue dress behind his wife and daughters backs.

Todd   March 31st, 2008 - 6:47 am

It’s a sign of freedom where people can act like total idiots and disrespect the office of the president of the United states. Way to show what a tolerant and good bunch of people we are. Personally i don’t like the president, but come on. Grow up and act like adults… or is that too much to ask from baseball fans?

LETHLSS   March 31st, 2008 - 6:48 am

Boos FTW!!

Chris   March 31st, 2008 - 8:56 am

He has made mistakes like any other president, but has kept integrity and respect in the office of the president. I also believe he has done much to protect us, which the former president could not say that he did. God Bless him and God Bless America, and to hell with the Blame America first people!

Dave   March 31st, 2008 - 10:31 am

I was at a game where Bill Clinton threw out the first pitch, no cheers resounding boos. Funny I read the news story later and no mention of the booing. I wonder why.

Conrad   March 31st, 2008 - 11:22 am

Heh, I guess they’ll be booing McCain next year. By the way, the Nationals suck.

Rover   March 31st, 2008 - 11:24 am

Expect Bush to play a lot of photo ops now to try and help save his legacy. As he has said many times, history will judge him. Well, history is getting here real fast now! “Worst president in the history of the United States” seems to sum it up pretty well. We can only hope that it is a very long time before we ever see another failure like him.

Dave   March 31st, 2008 - 11:49 am

You out on work release again Rover? If you really think GW Bush is worst ever you’ve never heard of Jimmy Carter. Carter took a strong economy straight into the toilet. And his foreign policy fiascoes were even worse. Iranian hostages, oil embargo, destroying our intelligence capabilities to the point we still have not recovered. And your boy Slick Willy, greatest American president ever…if you’re a communist Chinese looking to upgrade you’re nuclear capabilities. The Democratic party has a long and proud tradition of trying to destroy this (formerly) great country. Save America, defeat Obama.

Bud   March 31st, 2008 - 11:54 am

Dave, At least you’re one of a few of us that read. He’s a good humanitarian but was a lousy leader. Well said.

dave   March 31st, 2008 - 11:57 am

Funny, some of the people commenting here must have been at the game, and want to continue showing how classy they are. BDS lives.

Andy   March 31st, 2008 - 12:00 pm

How can anyone seriously say he “kept the integrity and respect of the office”, “carried himself with dignity and grace”? This president has disgraced the office and the country. It is about time he faced the consequences and saw what the country really thinks instead of ass-kissers like Fej telling him he’s honorable president. I also think it is rich when people attempt to blame liberals and have the audacity to say DC is run by liberals. Come the F#@K on! Where do you people live? Come back down to earth.

Irene Matta   March 31st, 2008 - 12:18 pm

It’s all about the News media campaigning for the Dems as usual with MISLEADING Headlines. Truth is in the article: Fans were booing the jacket with opposition name on it – and cheers for the other team! They were there for the game! Headlines during Republican administrations always appear: More people on Foodstamps, Mortgage failures (fill in the blank), Homeless CRISIS, – Oh, and Nancy Reagan bought expensive china, etc. When Clintons were in, there were no homeless, no poor, and everything was bought on credit as the Clintons have done now during their campaign. Just as we see now, their feckless spending is coming home to “roost”; we’re fighting the terrorism that they never told us about (i.e. bombing of Cole, Towers, Clintons stealing the WH China, and more).

John   March 31st, 2008 - 12:31 pm

Face it…the guy’s hated by a huge portion of the US and an even larger portion of the world.

Ray Zorback   March 31st, 2008 - 2:27 pm

Those who were “booing”… get a life & show some respect to the President of the United States. At something like that, you don’t boo… you appreciate your country and your freedom and show RESPECT. It doesn’t mean that you have to cheer, but it does mean that you chose to remain quiet. Booing is obnoxious and immature.

Grant   March 31st, 2008 - 2:32 pm

No matter the the president is, the people of that nation should have the desency not to boo him. rude rude rude. if u don’t want to cheer, don’t. but u don’t have to boo

Larse   March 31st, 2008 - 2:53 pm

Of course, there will alway be those paranoid little pinheads out there that think Bush is doing a great job. Then there are those that think he sucks but support him in public because they think that makes them patriotic. Then there are the shills and those that somehow gain from Bush no matter what he does to the rest of the world. They will also support McCain too. But for the other 75% of us, Bush is a disaster.

It is nice how Bush destroyed the Republican party and crushed any last remains of Reagan’s conservative movement. But we would have been far better off with a competent president. The war in Iraq and the rest of Bush’s blunders will haunt us all for many years to come. What we need to worry about right now is if he will destroy the American economy in the 10 months he has left.

There is no doubt about how the vast majority of American’s feel about Bush and there is no doubt about where he rates. They hate him and he is at the bottom. President Obama will get a giant boost simply because he is following a hurricane. Things are going to get better no matter what Obama does. Once Bush is gone he will be forgotten by all like he never happened.

[...] W got booed [I guess for his leadership off the ballfield], but even the die-hard lefties have to admit that kid’s got a cannon [watch video of it here]. [...]

Nick Kasoff - The Thug Report   March 31st, 2008 - 5:55 pm

Yes, the President is unpopular, and with good reason. But every poll I’ve seen says that Congress is even more unpopular. The thing you lefties are missing is, his ratings aren’t low because of the war in Iraq – the anti-war crowd was against him from day one. His ratings are low because he has greatly increased spending and the scope of Washington’s influence, things which are contrary to basic Republican principles. So in addition to losing the half of America which wouldn’t vote for him if he was running unopposed, he has also lost the support of many who wouldn’t touch Al Gore with a ten foot pole.

Don’t worry, though: We’ll be coming out in force to elect President McCain this November.

Frank   March 31st, 2008 - 6:07 pm

The boos were loud and well deserved. Makes me proud of my fellow Americans for calling it like they see it!!!

John McInsane   March 31st, 2008 - 7:03 pm

That’s right, boo/cheer the prez. It doesn’t matter. Forget that Clinton raised taxes (by 1/2%) for EVERYONE and balanced the budget for the first time in generations, and that Bush cut taxes for the top 10%, creating a TRILLION DOLLAR DEFECIT, then creating an illegal war that costs over $250 million A DAY. I want to continue the war that will lower our dollar value, kill many more Americans and others (Hell, they’re not white, so who cares?) and make the tax cuts permanent. And give everyone a gun so we can take our issues out on each other. SO THERE. FACISM LIVES!!! God Bless AMERICA!

Guy from Hawaii   March 31st, 2008 - 7:21 pm

I think it is wonderful to live in a country where you can boo the president when he turns out to incompetent. Bush has done much to hurt this wonderful country. I will be glad when he is gone.

I wish I could have been at the stadium to join the chorus of boos.

Clock watcher   March 31st, 2008 - 7:35 pm

I have been watching this thread all day (3/31/08) and the times of the postings keep changing. I am putting this in at 7:34pm EST. THere are posts that have been made this morning, but the time states many hours form now. Where is Breitbart? Moscow? (Would answer alot)

Jeff   March 31st, 2008 - 7:51 pm

It’s utterly disgusting to hear these filthy animals booing the President. I may not be a fan of the President but I certainly wouldn’t be so rude about him appearing at the stadium to throw out the first pitch.

People are just uncivil animals who deserve to be kicked in the rear-end.

As for the person named, “John Insane” who claimed Clinton balanced the budget, sorry but you are wrong. The President can not spend a dime. It was the Republican’s in Congress who balanced the budget. Clinton merely signed off on it. You need to read the U.S. Constitution so you can understand the process better.

David   March 31st, 2008 - 8:10 pm

“DC is out of touch. The sheep are in lockstep.”

What.

DC went over 80% for Kerry in 2004. Hardly republican sheep.

This thread makes my head hurt.

Mike from Chicago   March 31st, 2008 - 8:34 pm

Nice to see the President out having fun in the face of all this senseless ranting against a man who has done a wonderful job protecting this country.

And the nationals won too, a walk off homer to cap a wonderful beginning to a game I wish I could have attended.

All we have here in Chicago are the Cubbies and the…rain

Brucelog   March 31st, 2008 - 8:35 pm

It is so shameful how people will boo the leader of the Free World. I am glad I was not there. And those that use the symbols in stead of foul language, shame on you too. Look at the note under the comment block.

james randall   March 31st, 2008 - 8:39 pm

He is the right man, in the right place, at the right time. History will be much more kind to George W Bush than the ignorant left is today.

Rachel   March 31st, 2008 - 9:07 pm

Disrespecting the office of the Presidency like that makes me sick. History will treat GWB very well.

Paris   March 31st, 2008 - 9:07 pm

You’re an idiot John McInsane!! Its common knowledge to the educated that the military is NOT mostly black and poor. Its in fact quite the opposite! Stop drinking the Koolaid and wake the f@ck up!

anonymous   March 31st, 2008 - 9:33 pm

baseball games are for baseball. not for politicians to come and make points.

he should have been booed. any politician should be.

Timbuktu   March 31st, 2008 - 9:50 pm

If Abraham Lincoln would have thrown out the first pitch back in 1864, there would have been a solid chorus of boos. Why? “Lincoln’s War” cost 600,000 American lives plus scorch earth campaigns of innocent American homes. Yet, does anyone today not believe his war was a noble cause and worth the sacrifice? Is President’s Bush’s efforts to extend freedom to others and security for America not at least equally noble, if not more?

John McInsane   March 31st, 2008 - 10:08 pm

Paris,

I do not see where you think I commented about our military “being Black and Poor”. I made no such comment.
However, our military is currently at war with; Iraq, Afgahnastan, North Korea, Somalia, Iran, and let’s not forget Darfur. All “Non-white” nations. It is the policy of both the Dem and Rep parties to “demonize” anybody that we go to war with. Remember, there were no Iraqis nor Afghans on the planes on 9/11/01. They were Saudis and Pakis, and we have made them very rich with our oil prices lately.

Jello Biafra   March 31st, 2008 - 10:57 pm

Nothing but Sheep and Lemmings here. Sad. This is the kind of ‘rational thought’ the NEA gives us.

13(?) of the hijackers were Saudi.

Let’s bomb Iraq, and then stay there for a HUNDRED YEARS. And if it destroys our economy, we can give the Federal Reserve more power, and then blame the Liberals.

Brilliant. Absolutely.

We’ll all get we deserve.
