In my book, chapter 3, verse 16, it is written, “For God /so/ loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
I fail to understand how you can come to the conclusion that “God Hates the World” when He sent His Son to die for it.

why do you people take the bait? Theur message is really nothing more than what is preached by everyone else. They just have an “in your face” way of putting it out there. The whole “Thank God for IED’s” thing can be read 2 ways, and THEY know it. Their actual meaning is that “IF God knows your beginning and your end before you are born, then Obviously you were meant to die by IED, that was your destiny, as planned by God, So, you can Thank God for the IED, since it was in His master plan. OR you can take it the 2nd way, which is NOT thir meaning, and read it as “We are Thanking God for killing the Soldier with the IED.

This message is not to Westboro , but to those reading this post. Please do not judge God, Jesus, or His Church by what these people are proclaiming. God is love and does love all people. God hates sin, not people. People have a choice to sin or not sin, to love God and accept His Son Jesus, or reject Him. The majority of Christian churches do not believe or practice the lies that Westboro is spreading. When you meet a true Christian, who walks according to God’s holy word, then you will know what God’s love is. Sadly, too many people have not seen a true representation of Jesus love in today’s world. Why can’t the media look for people who are truly doing good in this world instead of this truly unbiblical lie.

There are very few people that believe what these idiots do. They have no idea what they are talking about. I don’t know what version of the Bible their reading but it’s not the one normal Christians read. It sad they don’t know what they are talking about. I guess it’s a good thing I’m not God, though, because I agree with GoodWillHumping in that If they do show up, I hope the NRA also comes with their riffles as well. What I mean by hate is dislike, but what I mean by Love is God

Gosh, this makes me so sad. A thorough reading of the gospels makes it plain that Jesus loved and associated with everyone, from the religious leaders that he often rebuked, to the “sinners” that he ate with and lived amongst. It was Jesus’ love that transformed people, not this hate message. The message of Fred Phelps, and many Christian leaders, is not supported by the accounts of Jesus or His early followers.

I find it so telling that Jesus was most often rebuked for hanging around with undesirables (according to the religious system) — and yes, that would include homosexuals. But He also hung around the kinds of people who commit the “acceptable” sins of our times — the haters, the critical and judgmental, the slanderers and the gossips. Maybe, in His eyes, there is no difference, eh? We’re the ones, in out prejudice, who make the distinction according to our own comfort level.

My cousin Eric was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq on May 12, 2006. He was a Christian — and Jesus loves him just as much as He loves every homosexual. Perhaps if Fred Phelps knew the difference between personal approval and God’s love, maybe He could experience some of that love. I’ll keep praying for him….

These poor morons. I was hesitant to comment because these people do not deserve any more attention than they already are getting. As a former member of the Golf team at Liberty University, I have met Jerry Falwell peronally and have heard him speak to the university several times. He was not a bad man, he had no hate in his heart except toward sin. HE did not hate the person, which is exactly how God feels. He hates sin, but gives chance after chance after chance for people to turn from their sins because he LOVES them. He loved them(us) so much he sent his only son to die in our place. There is no way for us to say why there are evil things in the world, ie war, sickness, death, but the truth is that there is. Our faith that God knows best is the only way to stay positive in an evil world. There is nothing we can do about most of it, except pray for people and keep our faith strong. I want to act out in anger and go up to lynchburg for the funeral that these morons are protesting, but that would not be what Jesus would want….you are supposed to love everyone so I will just pray that they realize their actions before it is too late.

Tyler, you are a breath of fresh air. What my biggest issue is with the fact that so many so called Christians demand their interpertations of the written word on everyone else. I live a good wholesome life, with my same sex partner of 11 years. We have committments to our community, pay taxes (granted, don’t have the tax breaks of our community that are allowed to marry), so when I get told that my life is a sin……I just wonder who’s God these people are listening to. My God wants me to be happy and non judgemental.

So What does God, I mean Love since God is Love, do? What does Love actualy do? What has Love created? What is Love like? Well for one thing love does what calvinists say He does. Why mentionn this? It would be a surprise if any one would go to his Funeral, Jerry was such a rude man to others, this is the type of example of a Southern Baptist church member, him and his friends. I had to deal with rude people like him all my life and they are like Brain Washed in their strange belief and ways. I wonder if his friend Rev. Ted Haggard was at his Funeral and Jessie jackson, well Jackson and sharpton only goes to the Black Funerals, but maybe they went to protest some thing.

I am a Liberty Student….I knew Falwell, not well, but enough to know that he was not hateful in anyway, he was always willing to help anyone who needed, and wanted it. He founded the Liberty Godparent Home, a place where disowned, and disillusioned teen mothers, and pregnant found a place to stay free of charge, they are fed well, taught to care for their newborns, and Falwell even GAVE them an education through Liberty, a FULLY accredited University offering everything from a degree in Law, to a degree in Pastoral, yes a degree in pastoral ministry. God hates the sin, the things we do by which we hurt ourselves, and/or others. He does not hate the person, fyi: the sinner, Not all Christians stand with Phelps in the radical statement that “God Hates Fags!” The Bible Clearly says in Romans 3:23 look it up don’t take my word for it..read it in all it’s context….that All have Fallen short of the Glory of God. That means WBC too..they are as guilty as those so called “fags” ….All I can say is that I am not brainwashed, in fact before my first visit to LU in Fall 2004, I had never heard of Jerry Falwell…(of course everyone else knew and filled me in once I said that I had decided to attend Liberty)Falwell was a great man, and rather than Hell as WBC claimed, I am sure that He is Standing in Heaven Beside Jesus..Looking down, and shaking his head in sympathy for WBC, and others who don’t have a clue. I thank God for Jerry Falwell, A man who was a one of a kind Man who encouraged everyone to be strong in their faith. Jerry Falwell helped many people in Jesus, throught the years…and will continue to do so by the institutions, and stories, and legacies he left behind.

I feel sorry for the children of the church members, being taught at such a young age to hate. Rememinds me of that Mickey-Mouse look-a-like the Palestinians are using to spread their message of hate to the children of Gaza. If children are our future, then the future is not looking very bright. It’s very sad indeed.

God does not forgive those who never repent. God is not tolerant of unrepented sin. Christians really need to cite scripture more often. The same is true of forgiveness.

God does not forgive those who don’t forgive. Mathew 6:14-15.

PS; there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ. i.e. those who do not forgive cannot be in Christ.
