It cracks me up how this video title says “helps solve bible mysteries” then mentions how herod was said to have kllled the baby biys if Jersualm, but then adds that some scholars believe he may have died before jesus was born…as if there were ANY relationship between this archaeological find and the killing of the babies. But If you add in the headline, I BET there are lots of people who think that archaeologists have just proven that Herod died before Jesus was born and therefor Jesus is a myth.
What bible mystery does this find help solve????

I don’t believe this new sudden increase in finding
biblical sites. It’s all rubbish; they find a tomb with some chicken scratches on it and then claim
it is Joseph or Herod or James.
Why didn’t they ask this guy for proof?
I found Jesse James buried at my local cemetary,
too.Or was it Billy the Kid?

[...] a video… (I preferred this one but can’t get it to [...]

No mysteries were solved with this find. Herodium had already been determined to be the site of Herod’s palace. Finding the tomb just verifies once again that there really was a Herod.
Biblical archaeology should not be used to undergird theological statements. The science serves to illuminate the culture and human activity. It is a fascinating discipline however and exciting when one is down in the sand and carefully scratching away to discover a coin which dates a particular site. Which I did in 1976 at Acco (Acre) dating it during the reign of Vespasian.
