I must wonder…

What the 70,000+ Iraq civilians who have died in “our” war would have said if they know they were going to be exterminated in the next few moments…

Shleenish   September 20th, 2007 - 12:51 am

I truly think everyone was put on this earth for a purpose, this man truly deserves greatness, I hope he goes peacefully, for he is blessed by God. I would have loved to meet such an incredible man. God bless you.

Thank you for this deeply moving, inspired story. Does anyone know if Carnegie Mellon has released the entire lecture?

Shark, you’re an ass. Not everything has to be about ‘your’ war.

Thank you so much for posting the inspiring clip by Dr. Pausch. In just a few moments, this extraordinary communicator manages to impart some of the most profound, incontrovertible truths about life.

Dr. Pausch’s comments go far beyond the simple “feel-good/self-help” platitudes we tend to seek out during uncertain times.

It was also wonderful to see a terminally ill man living his final days to the fullest, having been blessed with comparatively unimpaired physical abilities. (”Cognitive dissonance,” indeed!)

I thank Dr. Pausch for his insights and wish him well on his journey to “the next adventure.”

I wonder where I can get the whole lecture? I think this would be great to hang on to and show my kids, as well as employees.

I also would like to say that anyone making a political statement with this piece is so out of the loop they aren’t worth listening to. The best kind of censorship is allowing people like Shark to speak, but ignoring them.

What a wonderful say to sum up your life and share it with people. Dr. Pausch certainly achieved what he wanted. He not only painted the walls of his bedroom as young boy, he has now painted the walls of our minds with is humorous yet eloquent address about living and dying. I thank him for it.

SHARK, an English reporter did a study about a year ago comparing the rates of death under Saddam’s rule vs the number of civilian deaths since the war started. His conclusion was that about 100,000 more people were alive today than would be alive if Saddam were still in power. Sorry to spoil your day SHARK! My hats off to the professor, I will always remember his “walls” analogy.

If this Man who is Only a Man, created by God Yahaveh “Jehovah”.. sincerely gives his heart to his Maker thru the Son, Jesus Christ he will have Peace and eternal life. NO physical attributes or accomplishments mean anything in the presence of the Almighty God and Creator. I pray that he spends his remainging time here on Earth reading Gods word, Keeping his commandments and by his actions being a Child of God till he passes on to his final Judgement.

Fern Rosenberg   October 24th, 2007 - 11:58 pm

I was completely amazed at your strength and courage and honesty about what is happening to you….it was something I will not forget, ever…Fifty one years ago I lost a four year old child in a drowning accident…I had another child age two at the time..I sat on the cement step at the house where my child died while holding the two year old in my lap…I made a decision right then that I was not going to let the death of the child destroy my life or the remaining child in my lap..and have lived by that decision for all these years….the child who remained was later diagnosed with Aids, many years later…I spent all the years since his diagnosis doing research to help keep him alive…with the same conviction I had on the day the four year old drowned..your lecture reminded me of the years of my own journey with strength and courage to face all that had gone before and with the same sense of life that I heard from your talk……You are an amazing young man..I pray that you will find the courage to continue on your journey..and also with the hope of a miracle that will allow you to stay with your children and wife…..I do believe there are miracles…God Bless you and your family…With deep compassion respect and love for all of you.and with compassion,…..Fern Rosenberg
