‘Limbaugh Effect’: Did Texas Republicans Cross Over to Vote for Hillary?

Rush Limbaugh issued a call on his radio show for Texas Republicans to vote for Hillary Clinton. But did they listen?

where is the integrity? is there no shame in what we will do to get our own way? No wonder our country is headed down hill, all of our moral values has eroded

Lots of people thought of this. It is not dishonest— it is strategic. It is democratic. It is acceptable, though a little tricksy. Republicans are afraid that fighting Obama will be unfairly difficult because if they say anything about him the wrong way, it will be construed as racism and blown through a loudspeaker across the country into everyone’s eardrums. Race as a political advantage— how modern!

Me, I’m voting based on race, myself: Alan Keyes for president. Conservative black men are the ones who really feel the discrimination in the political arena these days. Keyes is a full-blooded American, to boot. Though, of course, he doesn’t stand a chance with all these liberal racists in this country… I’m throwing away my vote on the man I like!

No, we got the idea long before Rush came up with it. Don’t go giving Rush all the credit.

[...] Well, here it is in the middle of the DNC’s swirling, twirling gumdrop delegate count-a-thon. The bus will make every stop, but not all the delegates will get on. Take MI and FL, no you take them….Hussein and Shrillery are fighting to see who will be the finalist. According to many astute political observers, neither has the total number of delegates to announce “winner”. Meanwhile, Howard Dean is filling in for Lloyd Bridges…….and is certainly channeling him here….and Rush is taking credit for having the right strategy to encourage McCainiacs to vote for Shrillery and push her percentages up over Hussein’s, did he?………. I crossed over, but voted for Obama. I’m a white woman, Hillary’s age, and want to see her stopped asap. Was talking to my thirtyish neighbor last night and she had crossed over, voted for Obama, too, saying she was just sick of the Clintons. Nothing to do with Limbaugh, all to do with wishing the Clintons would go away.

Texans have been doing this for years and will continue to do it because, well, we’re Texans. It goes both ways too — many Democrats crossed over in 1980 to vote for Ronald Reagan in the Republican primary because they thought Jimmy Carter would more handily win against him. Personally, I’m eternally grateful to them for doing that. Hopefully this Republicans voting for Hillary thing won’t backfire on us.

Me, I just couldn’t handle the thought of getting my card stamped Democrat when I went in to cast my ballot so I voted in the Republican primary – but I voted for one of the candidates already out of the race on the Republican side because I didn’t like the other three choices – I would have loved to have seen how many votes those guys got.

I dunno, I’m a Texan, I voted in the republican primary. I felt that the resolutions on the (R) ballot were more important then crossing over to vote for either of those immeasurably bad candidates. Furthermore, the way I figure it, they are all two faced lier’s, (McCain too) so at this point it’s best to vote with consideration toward the local guys. When the fit hits the shan it is the local guys who will have to clean up the mess. The feds always have their heads so far up their fannies they can’t see whats going on.

I do have to admit that I’m really not sure if anything is really wrong with the republicans crossing over to vote like that. Is it really worse then Florida where the rules where changed last minute to make it an open primary so the Democrats could vote for McCain?

Anyway, Cynthia, if you’re looking for the election results the following is a link directly to the Texas results from the Texas Secretary of state website.
