Come on everyone, where did you go? You had nothing but wonderful things to say about all police officers when he was attacking a kid like a maniac. So jump on board and tell us yet again how you support anyone with a badge, regardless of how out of control they are.
I wholeheartedly support all decent, hard working, respectful police officers. They deal with the part of society we want nothing to do with, and do so on a regular basis. We owe them our gratitude. But there are definitely some officers who have no business carrying a badge and a gun. And this guy is a perfect example of one.
If you want to support the police, at least support the ones who are deserving of your respect. And the rest of them can go find another city job.
IfFebruary 15th, 2008 - 12:22 pm
If grandma triped over the little remote car and cracked her face open we would think this cop is a hero. The cop is over reactive! But in his defence the kid (artist) whatever! buzzing it around the cop was stupid, and just looking for a fight. Common sense people. I would never want to be a cop and have to deal with a-holes looking for a fight with an authority figure.
StanFebruary 15th, 2008 - 12:27 pm
The guy with the moving box was harassing people, the punk with the skateboard shouldn’t have been where he was.
Having said that, the cop was waaaayyy out of line. Then again, perhaps he’s perpetually mad because of the ridiculous outfit and emasculating vehicle they have him in.
Anyone who’s seen the Movie “Roadhouse” knows “There’s a time to be nice and a time not be be nice” … he is totally unprofessional.. but what can you do … he has the badge ..
SoCal PatriotFebruary 15th, 2008 - 2:46 pm
Wow, that looks fun. How can *I* become a law enforcement officer?
EricFebruary 15th, 2008 - 3:35 pm
Simply put, the officer does not have the composure to properly carry out his job. If he has been an officer for 17 years, I doubt the two recent incidents are a sudden aberration and I am sure not the first time he has come to the attention of the police authorities. They protect their own and now with the technology to record by the average citizen the “secret” has leaked and the police are now forced to deal with it. They will try to sweep this under the rug and only lawsuits and continue media attention will get justice served.
SoCal PatriotFebruary 15th, 2008 - 4:13 pm
The constitution? I do remember something about that… That’s long gone though, sorry to tell ya brother. Somebody named Ron Paul, I believe, used to talk about that thing. But that was long, long, ago…

Respect due to lemming and Stan for their wise comments.

I for one am in favor of sweeping the mime menace from our streets.
A few You-tube videos of a frustrated, angry dead ender prying his portly frame from that ridiculous golf cart to defend harbor tourists and western civilization with a righteous mime beat-down should let these creepy street artists know that their frankish “art” isn’t welcome here.
Courage!

This guy is just an ass. His boyfriends over at the station house were partying without him.
seejayFebruary 15th, 2008 - 6:54 pm
Why is anyone upset over this?
Remember. Public sector jobs exist NOT to get a thing done, but rather as a reward to be given to “Hispanics” and African-Americans so that they continue to believe in, and VOTE FOR, Big Government. As “Hispanics” and African-Americans HAVE ALWAYS DONE AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO.
This 17 year veteran of public service, or in other words, a “Hispanic” quota-filler, is drunk with his power! He’ll show those awful White teenagers! How dare they act like White teenagers! If they’re not acting like black or “Hispanic” teens- ie. either being in a gang or on the way to prison…Well, they’re just looking for trouble!
And they found it, in Officer Rivierierrra!
JimBoFebruary 15th, 2008 - 7:06 pm
Absolute power corrupts…absolutely.
Those who defended this officer of the law on the previous video may want to revisit this.
Maybe he just doesn’t like white guys. Especially white guys have fun!
Could this be a “hate crime”?
Alan QFebruary 15th, 2008 - 7:10 pm
“He is angry enough to kill himself. Anger is not a virtue”
You’d be angry too if you had to run around all day looking like a fat bee in short pants.
And what’s “Seejay” on about? Dorkcop is no Hispanic and Rivieri is not a Hispanic name. If you can’t tell a Mexican from an Italian or Portugese, maybe you’re just not cut out to be a racist. Don’t feel bad, you gave it your best shot. Maybe you just need to set your goals higher. That’s it! Instead of just hating “minorities,” you could hate everybody. Follow your star. We’re rooting for ya.

CompatriotFebruary 15th, 2008 - 8:06 pm
I didn’t say anything on the last videotaped incident because most there were defending this abusive officer to no end, and i wasn’t even going to waste my time arguing with meathead’s.
Frankly i thought he acted like a jack booted Nazi in the first incident. He had “no” right to lay hand’s on that kid in the first video! The kid did “nothing” to warrant such an abusive physical response from the officer. Police can only use “equal” force to that they are being faced with. Otherwise their motto, and their “job” is, “To serve and protect”. Get it?
Now i “must” say what i wanted to in the first place. With respect to this incident, as well as the first incident. Just another of the “ever increasing” number of police officer’s suffering from the “God complex”. We see it happening more and more everyday. Law abiding citizen’s being manhandled, verbally abused, and or bullied by police who believe “they” themselve’s are “above” the law, simply because “they” represent the law!
Many officer’s serve with honor. I am greatful to “every one” of them. However, increasingly we see police misconduct “perpetrated” upon “law abiding citizen’s”, with “no” fear of reprisal or reprimand, from those who are their superior’s. A first physical attack by a police officer, committed against a non-violent, law abiding citizen, should be ground’s for “immediate” dismissal, period!
Yeah i know the kid in the park was a “lawbreaker”, god forbid teenager’s are skateboarding in (i believe it was) a “public park” for god’s sake. What the heck is a park for anyway? For kid’s to go and have a good time, so they can stay “out” of trouble! That kid’s wasn’t doing “anything” to warrant the physical abuse that officer subjected him to IMHO!
Maybe those kid’s should have been out selling drug’s or carjacking. That way this idiot cop would not have come across them, because he’s too busy in the park verbally abusing, destroying private property, and physically assaulting people who are there legally. Whether they are using a radio controlled car for fun, and at worst, breaking a stupid skateboarding law that should not even exist in a public park in the first place IMHO. That’s what the park is for, kid’s to go have fun!! So they “won’t” be out selling drug’s and carjacking.
Perhap’s this officer’s time would be better spent dealing with “real” crime, and busting “true” criminal’s, and truly “serving and protecting” the citizen’s he is sworn to “serve and protect”.
Personally i would “fire” him immediately! You can bet if these are just 2 example’s of how he conduct’s himself as “an officer of the law”, he should no longer be “an officer of the law”! Also if these 2 incident’s have been shown in the last few day’s, imagine how he conduct’s himself on a “daily” basis. Reprehensible! Again IMHO.
All respect to all “law abiding” law officer’s out there, and to all “law abiding” citizen’s on this site. As for the rogue officer’s out there? Just quit the force, and go be a security guard somewhere. All respect.
As a sidebar, my father was in law enforcement for 20 year’s. I have “all” respect for those in blue who do “serve and protect” with “honor”.
Compatriot.

This cop is just too angry for the job he has. Law enforcement is a JOB; it is NOT personal. Being a cop is stressful enough for a normal person; this guy is likely to snap and do some real harm. He is a lawsuit (or preferably a heart attack) waiting to happen. BTW, he is probably not Hispanic; Rivieri is most likely an Italian last name. Regardless, he is a man with too many issues to be a police officer. He reminds me of a short, fat, and dark Bob Knight, the basketball coach with an anger management problem.
sk8February 15th, 2008 - 9:03 pm
just watched the accosting of the skateboaring kids as well as the “box artist”/ provoker-prankster.
A. I can see where a grown man made to wear a bee suit and drive a cartoon car just might get a wee bit pissed off. However this is no excuse. Find a new job.
B. Cities need to get over it with the anti- skating laws. Skating is a good thing. It gets kids outside and up off of their increasingly fat butts. Most kids can’t do the types of tricks that cause the “damage” that cities are claiming is happening to them, and on that note- a kid who is aspiring to skating greatness generaly is not on drugs- because these moves require extreme physical control- something a high person simply can’t do.
I am not a skateboarder or an artist – but I do skate- quad/dance, inline and ice. I have to deal with city council laws that have outlawed skating of any kind on city streets where I live. I use my inlines exclusively outside- I have never had a problem- even though a big scary BEE SUIT man could accost me if he wanted to. It is not legal for me to skate on the street in front of my house which I own. Nor on any other street in my city.
People should skate more, not less. It is a wonderful fun sport that attracts pretty decent folks. It is good for the body and loads of fun- which can not be said of many other participation sports. It is aerobic in nature and burns up to 360 calories per hour- this can not be said of any other sport besides running, which is not so much fun.
So- lay off with the laws and get more folks out having a good time! Fire BEE SUIT for sure!!!!
39 years old and still SKATIN’!!!!!!! LOVE IT!
sk8February 15th, 2008 - 9:47 pm
Anti-skating laws are bad. Skating is good for kids and adults. It’s good cardio and muscle excercise. Anti street laws discourage a good healthy active sport for people of all ages.
The man in the BEE SUIT- who probably can’t skate is just doing his job- I suppose. I personally know folks who “CAN’T” or “WON’T” get out
there and try to skate. This guy is that.
DOOF BALL.
QUAD/ART, INLINE,OUTSIDE-AND ICE,when I can get it.
HermanFebruary 15th, 2008 - 10:02 pm
That so-called artist should be trhown out of school and locked up for creating a public disturbance and menace
You people would be whining out the other side of your face if it turned out that box was full of explosives and the Officer FAILED to kick it and then it turned out it was being run by a terrorist and blew up a building and killed thousands of people including your loved ones. Then you’d be all “Why didn’t he do something? Why didn’t he stop it from happening! Fire his @ss”
I’m sick of the Hate Police First crowd. All they want to do is tear down this great country and let the Socialists, punks, feminazis and the ilk run all over us.

hey Sgt. Savage I’m a Soldier. Respect the constitution, respect our citizens. Many years ago I swore an oath to “uphold and defend the constitution of the United States”. What oath did you swear when you became a cop? “to bully and harass”?
SKDFebruary 15th, 2008 - 10:40 pm
Herman, you’re one paranoid crank. Street art as potential terrorist attack? Are mimes dangerous too? I’m sure his kicking it was somehow an ingenious way to assure that it wasn’t ‘terror-related’.
Cops like this one seem to resent having to deal with any people at ALL for any reason, even though that’s the only thing their job is about. It’s like a doctor saying they would love their job if it wasn’t for all the sick people.
Sgt. SavageFebruary 15th, 2008 - 11:57 pm
This fine law enforcement officer will not be reprimanded in anyway, hence, he acted constitutionally. Get used to it, your constitution is DOA, and the Homeland Defense Police Force will be dancing in the streets, on the face of punk kids, artists, and no-good mimes…
SoCal PatriotFebruary 15th, 2008 - 11:59 pm
I also served the armed forces and swore an oath to the constitution. I served in Vietnam from 74-77, and I agree wholeheartedly with the actions of this police officer. Respect the authority, the badge, and the department.

SoCal Patriot: You say you served in ‘Nam from 74-77. What outfit were you with? All US Troops were out of there by end of Mar 73 and in Apr 75 US presence was finished. NVA took over South Vietnam that date. So,again, where were you?
As for this cop being placed on admin leave with pay. Hell! That’s a damn vacation!

Well lookie here the donut indulged officer is at it again, only this time he is kicking a box. Another display of violence. Hope the department decides to save $$$$ and someones life-
The officer needs to find another occupation, before he hurts someone who is not committing a crime. Maybe he will have a heart attack, He is angry enough to kill himself. Anger is not a virtue.

I’m supporting the cop. You’ll need one, one day. And you won’t be asking if he had ever violated a smart*** kid’s rights. Also, WHY WOULD ANY MAN have a BOX in the road? AND, why would he be taping my “reaction”…Talk about STUPID…
KICK THE PUNKS!

what an abuse of power.
What people need to realize is that skateboarding is illegal almost everywhere. What, exactly, do you expect skateboarders to do? Skate on the carpet in their living rooms? Skateparks are to scarce to skate everyday.
Also, Baltimore has the highest crime rate in the United States. Yeah, I’m talking about arson, rape, murder, drug dealings, ect, not skateboarding. What does it matter if a kid decides to skate in a PUBLIC place, when theres a drug dealing going on a block away?
yes, wax blackens ledges, but rollerbladers and bikers do that as well. BMXers destroy rails with rough pegs. Skateboarders take off paint.
sorry for thinking skateboarders should have rights, just like a person riding a bike.

For anyone who believes this cop did the “right†thing…
Why should our children respect people who are
no better than criminals themselves… wife-beaters if you will?
We need to start hiring INTELLIGENT PEOPLE to protect our streets. Our cities give GUNS to people who have the same amount of education as the guy who puts oil in your car.
We need SMART cops–
–People that know how to deal with people. If this Cop had just said, “Hey man, theres a sign right over there. It says don’t skateboard!â€, and then written him a ticket and been done with it, nothing would have happened!!!
That’s so EASY!
But no… Mr. “I never made the football team in high school†Rivieri felt it was his duty to lecture a kid who doesn’t give a darn what he’s saying anyway.
Let me break it down.
Police are NOT smart people. They are the same people that made sub-standard grades in high school, didn’t get into a college, and on their list of potential careers which included, “Janitor, McDonald’s drive-thru attendant, security guard, and copâ€, they chose cop because then they knew they MIGHT get respected at some point in their miserable lives.
Guess what.
I respect smart people. People who DESERVE to be in control.
This cop wasn’t lecturing becase he felt like he may actually be making a difference in this kids life, he did it to establish dominance over a 14 year old.
Guess who else does things like that?
14 year olds.
The problem with police is that they seem to believe that they should automatically get respect… Let me ask (if I dare)
Why????
Why should I respect a bumbling moron with no people skills, who lacks the intelligence to properly asses the situation????
I’m 46 and I don’t see myself ever respecting someone dumber than me. A badge and a brain are not the same thing.
Matt ChappelFebruary 22nd, 2008 - 12:33 am
And oh yeah…
When I’ve ever “needed” a cop, theyve always managed to show up late.
But they’re ALWAYS within arms reach when nobody invited them there…
Just something to think about.
