Proposed Ban: Councilman Doesn’t Want to See Your Underwear, Bra Straps

Baggy pants that show boxer shorts or thongs would be illegal under a proposed amendment to Atlanta's indecency laws. The councilman calls calls saggy pants an epidemic and a major concern.

Finally!

Let’s hear it for decent and civil dress!

Debbie   August 23rd, 2007 - 4:10 pm

Well, now what will the gang bangers and white trash wear????

beefrank   August 23rd, 2007 - 4:18 pm

Kudos to the councilman! What most do not know is that the baggy pants phenon is jail and prison status wear. The whole prison scene is being sold to our children in pop music, drugs, language, mannerism and dress. Wake up parents!

Hear Hear! I’m just very thankful the councilman is black. Otherwise we’d be hearing screams of racism from the black/latino & white trash neighborhoods. This “trend” has gone on long enough. I mean geez, even spandex and blue eye shadow went out of style after a few years. Enuff z’nuff. Hoodlum wear has got to go.

Hooray for Atlanta!!! Pants a little low are fine I think, but full exposure of ones buttocks while I am trying to eat my burrito supreme is disgusting. Do we have to include thongs in this as well though??? Yes, I am a disgusting male pig…

Extending existing indecency laws to include sagging, ass-bearing pants is certainly appropriate. It is a shame that common sense doesn’t prevail and that people’s sense of decency must be legislated.

why should it be illegal? It’s only going to make us keep on doing it. Is it really that serious?I think not!!!

I never thought I would agree with the ACLU on anything but what is up with a clothes ban what next burka’s for girls and beards for boys get real who cares what the young wear besides the desire for a job will bring them back to reality it’s a temporary phase doesn’t anyone remember when they were teenagers?

I’m old and white. I don’t like seeing sliding, baggy pants and thongs, but let’s get real. Law enforcement and tax dollars can’t keep up with real crime, and the sentences of real criminals are being reduced to make room for the next guy. Flapper dresses, zoot suits, short shorts, etc. had their day and passed. This silly fad will pass too. The councilman is a contol freak who has too much time on his hands and lacks the brains to solve real problems.
