Newsweek: Angry Bill Clinton Claim of bin Laden Kill Order Not True

In a famous interview on Fox News last September, Bill Clinton told Chris Wallace he authorized a finding for the CIA to kill Osama bin Laden. "We contracted with people to kill him. I got closer to killing him than anybody has gotten since.รขโ‚ฌย Today, Newsweek's Michael Isikoff told Andrew Breitbart, guest hosting on the Dennis Miller Show, that the new CIA watchdog report reveals that Clinton's claim tends to "stretch reality." The original video clip and the full Isikoff report are in the related links.

Does it surprise anyone that Bill Clinton has lied again?

You will not see this covered by any major TV/Cable media outlet, because Democrats get a pass when caught in a lie, and Republicans pay for it for the rest of their lives.

Heard Isikoff relating this to Andrew Breitbart today on Dennis Miller’s radio show.

The big news is that Clinton lied yet again?
Yawn.

Personally, I don’t agree with the conventional wisdom that killing bin Laden would have prevented 9/11. After reading The Looming Tower, I’m no longer convinced that he was or is the real leader of Al Qaeda. I think that Zawahiri is the real power in the organization, and has been using bin Laden as a figurehead. If Osama is still alive, he’s being muzzled, because he is too committed to Islam to approve the murder of fellow Sunnis in Iraq. Zawahiri wouldn’t think twice.

BTW, Andrew, I thought it was pretty cool letting your son talk on the show. Don’t beat yourself up.

As usual Isikoff doesn’t tell the whole story, just what the interviewer wants to hear. Repub congress was all over him for ordering strikes on Al Qaeda and he had to tone down the orders but as just a wink lets someone know that it’s OK to proceed, these orders had the ability to strike at Al Qaeda. This would not have prevented 911 of course because the Saudies and co-conspirators accomplished 911 along with, Oh you know who!
