There is nothing wrong with this it is free speech. We are losing humor in this country because everyone tries to be PC. Opie and Anthony are funny and that is why they are on XM. CBS folded with Imus and that is why people are getting away with this witch hunt. BTW: I an educated 40+ year old mother of two who listens religiously, but my kids don’t!

I think I should go on the business of producing Puritan clothing. This country is rapidly regressing and people’s individual interpretation of free speech to suit their own personal morality is out of control. Don’t like it? TURN IT OFF. Never once have I listened to the radio at gunpoint.
Also, why the double standard with movies? Why is radio so closely scrutinized? Even if Opie & Anthony get fired over this, THEIR FREE SPEECH IS NOT THREATENED! If they get fired, they can start up a webcast, and they will still have a larger audience (read: free speech) than most of us can ever hope to have.
They can say anything and everything they want. The first Amendent does NOT guarantee crude, vulgar morons must be given a radio show. It means they can say whatever they want without facing prosecution BY THE GOVERNMENT.
The satellite radio station is a company, not part of the government. As such, their duty is to their shareholders. And if listeners find Opie & Anthony’s show objectionable enough to threaten a boycott, that is the right of the people. And it’s the right of the station owners to fire Opie & Anthony.
Should they be fired? I don’t care either way. But I’m not going to sit and listen to morons trying to misuse the U.S. Constitution to protect the jobs of scumbags.

I think this whole thing is ridiculous! I subscribe to XM so that I CAN listen to extreme radio. No one agrees with everything everyone says. This isn’t any different. I love listening to O&A and their views. If someone doesn’t like this type of radio, turn on parental control and don’t listen to it. Grow up! I hope that XM stands behind O&A(not what O&A said), but that they are on a station that they have paying customers that enjoy them. One important distinction –
“Allowed” (inferring leagal or illegal) is not in question here, nor was it with Imus. There are no charges of any wrongdoing filed.
However, the entities what employ are allowed to suspend and/or terminate anyone that does not contribute to the product they wish to present to the consumer.
Anyone complaining that they “should be allowed” to produce, well, whatever — is right — in this case they are. It just does not mean they have to be employed.
What is there to discuss? Perhaps if only XM figured the free marketing of the fiasco would be worth more than giving a free vacation to O&A?
Sounds like everybody wins at XM. They get all this, and O&A get a free (paid) VK…..
If people wanted this sort of program to go away, the best action would be to not pay/subscribe to XM (even if you liked something else about the service and were willing) and ignore their comments.

XM should not have “suspended” O&A. I’ve been a listener since 2005 when I purchased a new car. I purposely subscribed to XM, because I didn’t want Sirius and Howard. All the hype of him going “satellite” was just too much. I do admit, I used to listen to him on fm radio for a long time. BUT I found O&A and have been a regular listener. I didn’t really find the comments that Homeless Charlie made funny, but also understand and agree that the O&A show have the right to air what they want. I PAY for this service. I can block that channel or change the channel at any time because I am capable of doing so. Personally I find the “ads” on XM more offensive. I THOUGHT Satellite radio was AD FREE, but alas, it’s not.
I can’t wait for the O&A team to come back. They made my morning commute much easier to deal with.
