There was nothing wrong with the comment. This is just another ploy by the Clinton team to find pity for Hillary.Give us a break and stop testing the stupidity of people that actually believe the ploys brought about by the Clintons.

Rover   February 8th, 2008 - 4:22 pm

NBC News President Steve Capus has announced that David Shuster has been suspended from the network.

“On Thursday’s “Tucker” on MSNBC, David Shuster, who was serving as guest-host of the program, made a comment about Chelsea Clinton and the Clinton campaign that was irresponsible and inappropriate. Shuster, who apologized this morning on MSNBC and will again this evening, has been suspended from appearing on all NBC News broadcasts, other than to make his apology. He has also extended an apology to the Clinton family. NBC News takes these matters seriously, and offers our sincere regrets to the Clintons for the remarks.”

Tempe   February 8th, 2008 - 4:23 pm

It sure would be nice if people praised Jenna and Barbara Bush as much as Chelsea Clinton is praised. They are fine, well educated and beautiful girls also.

Linda   February 8th, 2008 - 4:34 pm

David Shuster’s biased reporting is so offensive to me. There is not one positive response to Hillary Clinton with the exception of Dan Abrams, who is trying to acknowledge the imbalance in coverage. Get rid of these lousy reporters and just report the news. There are alot of people who have voted for Hillary who are getting offended. The networks and advertisers ought to have higher expectations for their reporters and commentators.

G Smith   February 8th, 2008 - 4:36 pm

I cannot justify watching a group of ignorant cynics treat this election as if it were some meaningless sport.

Instead you should be doing REAL news stories like obscene profits by the oil companies and is this the 21st century version of the Teapot Dome Scandal?–look it up – you are all to young to know what I aam talking about.

How about finding out where all Obama’s money is coming from? It makes sense to think that Republicans are funding him… so they can beat Hillary even before the general election.

Why do you continue to buy the Bush spin that the “surge” is working – no political solutions have been made by the Iraqi puppet government who cannot leave the secure compound.

Yet we support them at cost of 432 Million Dollars a DAY! – not to mention wasted life.

Barb Cranfield   February 8th, 2008 - 4:42 pm

David spoke of what all BillHillary non believers would like to say about them. Just one more way to gettattention when they are running out of money…and the Presidency!!! Cry us a river Hillary, Your daughter is you all over again!

the Dude   February 8th, 2008 - 4:57 pm

David Shuster…who is that? More like, who cares? That whole news network is so bent. Be real, they openly root for Obama. Get a grip on reality and watch FOX News.

bill   February 8th, 2008 - 5:07 pm

David is on thin ice now . there is a long list of people who have crossed Bill and Hillary. may they rest in peace……..

Cindy   February 8th, 2008 - 5:12 pm

To Hell (FOX) with Shuster!

Patti B   February 8th, 2008 - 6:07 pm

He’s not sorry he said it, he’s sorry that we all took it as a pejorative comment. It was meant to be, what, informative?

brent   February 8th, 2008 - 6:33 pm

He just told the truth. Clinton pimped out her daughter to get votes.

John H   February 8th, 2008 - 7:18 pm

That was no apology. That was extremely sloppy CYA, pure and simple.

MSNBC should fire him – not necessarily for the comment but rather that lame, pedantic insult to viewers’ intelligence.

garner   February 8th, 2008 - 7:26 pm

Before you accept western pandering to Islam, consider this:

Islam is b-astardized religion, that claims a shared lineage with Judaism through

Gabrial, Abraham and the God of Abraham.

In reality it has its roots in the worship by ancieant Arabs and Egyptians of the

pagan Moongod Allah.

Islam abopted certains tennants of Judaism and Chritianity in order to assimilate and

control the people of Arab conqured countries.

Modern Muslims deny this, but it can be proved archaeologically and through ancient

writings.

Keith   February 8th, 2008 - 11:30 pm

It would be refreshing to hear a real apology rather than a lame statement “to the extent that people feel I was being pejorative, I apologize”

If you’re going to apologize – do it. If you’re going to blame it on how someone else feels about it, you’re ducking it.

Andrew   February 9th, 2008 - 12:18 am

Is it MSNBC or MS-PC-BS?

ccc   February 9th, 2008 - 12:29 am

My my, what goes around comes around Davey. Weren’t you and Joe Scarborough badmouthing John Gibson for similar pejorative comments on the death of Heath Schuler? If I recall, you folks thought his apology wasn’t good enough. Why is yours, this time?

Your comment was correct in the first place. Politics is all about pimping oneself out in order to win. Clinton’s hypocrisy about it is the real story. Nobody’s been more pejorative than them; there are examples strewn everywhere.

Jeffy   February 9th, 2008 - 12:36 am

Spineless fool! Stand by your words. Hillary would throw Chelsea under a speeding bus if she thought it would help her win the presidency. Don’t buy her wounded duck act.

Mike Gibbons   February 9th, 2008 - 12:47 am

Commentary both liberal and conservative has demeaned all their comments by making unecessary nasty remarks about politicians personally rather than reporting on what they say and let the public decide. Schuster, Limbaugh and Matthews should be sensored for some of the comments they make regarding public figures as if there is a halo over their heads declaring opinions as a template for what America should think.

cambelle cook   February 9th, 2008 - 12:48 am

Normally, I find David to be an excellent reporter, however, of late, I think all the “talking heads” have lost their way. They are using so much slang and put down, that is just street talk instead of sounding articulate and educated. Keith has fallen from my list and has been replaced by Dan Abrams who seems to be the only one who is seeking fairness and understands this is a presidential election , and the country hangs in the balance. We have so much to lose. They all need to get their act together, no matter who’s side you are on.

Toni   February 9th, 2008 - 1:34 am

My my. David gets a suspension for something that can be construed different ways yet Erin Burnett gets not even a slap on the hand for referring to the President of the United States as the “monkey in the middle”. Double standards to the ump degree!

TW   February 9th, 2008 - 2:11 am

not suprising hillary got mad, even if she and her dirtbag-in-chief did more to vulgarize this country than any other couple in history. people as pious as hillary think they are off-limits.

but what is hilarious is for a regal member of the corrupt media to get busted by one of its own…

like bill getting sharpt-on-ed by al…to see these incestuous b@$t@rd$ eating their own is delicious.

i bet this shuster idiot feels so betrayed by the very liberals that made him…

so fitting…and funny…

deb55   February 9th, 2008 - 4:03 am

Dan Abrams is suddenly the voice of reason and fair play on MSNBC. I applaud his stand on the extraordinarily biased reporting of this election year. If not for his program, the network would be unwatchable. That train wreck of a show, Morning Joe, with the adolescent, rude Scarborough and the smug Mika Brzenski who can’t stop watching herself on the studio monitors, is what passes for infotainment today. Someone on the network stated that the days of unbiased reporting by serious reporters who never revealed their personal opinions are long gone. Gee, ya’ think? I don’t care, indeed don’t want to know Joe and Mika’s preferences because I actually feel I can make my own decisions! Shuster is just another example of the careless, unprofessional behavior so typical of most folks on MSNBC. A little too relaxed for viewers who really do care about this stuff.

JIL   February 9th, 2008 - 6:29 am

I AM NOT A CLINTON FAN BUT CHELSEA SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO WHAT SHE WANTS WITHOUT RIDICULE. OF COURSE SHE SHOULD SUPPORT HER MOTHER.

DAVID SHUSTER IS GROSS. HE IS VERY BIASED. HE HAS BEEN BADMOUTHING ROMNEY FOR EVER. I DON’T THINK REPORTER SHOULD BE BIASED THEY NEED TO REPORT. IF YOU ARE SCARBOROUGH, LIMBAUGH ETC. YOU ARE NOT A REPORTER SO YOU DON’T NEED TO BE OBJECTIVE.

ANYWAY NBC IS A OBAMA LOVE FEST RIGHT NOW.

TomHawker54   February 9th, 2008 - 6:29 am

White articulate ” Newscasters” should be careful repeating “hip” “urban” phrases like “Pimped” when on the air. Ask Don Imus went through alot of hell for stooping to that level.

Hickok   February 9th, 2008 - 7:31 am

He should not be punished as it was a play on words. And it wasn’t accurate either. What self respecting pimp would “Pimp Chelsea out?” That’s right, none of them would, as she looks like a cross between Ronald McDonald and Alfred E. Newman.

mad   February 9th, 2008 - 8:07 am

at least his comments were on msnbc, so only about 200 people even saw it !!!! hahaha
pimping is what the clintons are all about, look what bill did in the last weeks his presidency, selling pardons to the highest bidders !!!! nothing like pimping out the presidency bill !!!!
watch fox news and get the truth people !!!!

CB   February 9th, 2008 - 8:51 am

David Shuster is a loose cannon. Delivering “should” directives in what was billed as an apology. Surely, no one at MSNBC thinks he has any credibility now. Outta there.

Rob L   February 9th, 2008 - 9:43 am

This is BS. The guy is right! They ARE pimping Chelsea out to get votes for her mom. Anybody who says otherwise is either an idiot or biased. Are you really THAT sensitive that the word “pimp” offends you? Puh-lease, give me a break, you’re so full of crap. Use whatever word you want, the bottom line is Chelsea has been put to work to solicit votes for her mom. call it pimping, using, soliciting, whatever you want. The truth is the truth and David Shuster has NOTHING to apologize about.

seejay   February 9th, 2008 - 4:41 pm

I’m confused! The media have been telling us for years now that black “culture” is superior to American culture! They tell us nightly that our girls want boys that talk just like ghetto-gangsters! They introduce their teevee shows like Pimp My Ride- (Daddy what’s a pimp?) ……Well son, in order for me to answer that, I’ll first have to explain what a HO is….
So according to our anti-American, globalist media, pimp should just be another word in our American lexicon. (or LAXicon!) How can that be offensive to anyone?

Vince   February 9th, 2008 - 5:54 pm

I Love how Hillary Rotten Clinton gets all mad that someone pointed out that she pimps her daughter for her own gains, but she wasn’t mad when her husband pimped on the desk in the oval office.

Hickok   February 9th, 2008 - 7:46 pm

If Bill Clinton were a pimp, as opposed to the rapist he actually is, do you think he’d pimp out Hill or Chel? Not in Manhattan, but maybe Arkansas, as folks there are accustomed to nailing barnyard animals as ugly as his wife and daughter. Two bucks a pop for these sows down in Little Rock.

Tim   February 9th, 2008 - 9:02 pm

How dare anyone say anything negative about queen Hillary’s little girl. O’ wait Chelsea is 27 years old and has injected herself in the debate. My god MSNBA this is a free country. The comments were tasteless but what about the comments made every day by the likes of Keith Oberman and others. If David would have said it about the Bush daughters they would have given him an award. Its chilling to see the kind of treatment that we the likes of the Slick Willy and the the teary one Hill

Glenn Friedman   February 9th, 2008 - 9:46 pm

It’s the classic non-apology apology. “I didn’t say anything offensive, but I’m sorry you got offended.”

Vi   February 9th, 2008 - 10:28 pm

Schuster statment requires a dismissal. Suspension is not enough. This statement is offensive and demeaning to women. He took is leave from Chris Mathews who began this demeaning speak. I am a woman and MSNBC prejudice against women is appalling. The Station must promote this kind of demeaning speak, ref Imus. I have no recourse but to write their sponsors.

Hickok   February 9th, 2008 - 10:45 pm

Vi,
What is really offensive is not so much Schuster’s remark’s, but your lack of proper English and grammar. You’re so offended that you have no recourse but to write the sponsors? I suggest then, you get a second grader to compose your letters, as they will then be more coherent than your garbage. Stay offended.

Sunil Shenoy   February 9th, 2008 - 10:56 pm

There is nothing wriong with the comment?? Mr Silva, do you know what the word “Pimp” means? You making the comment clearly means that you are not the father/mother yet. And for the sake of your future generation, I wish it remains that way.

Alabama Granny   February 10th, 2008 - 3:43 pm

Maybe “pimp” was a little inappropriate, but with the Clinton track record, why the indignation? They are fakes and everybody knows it but their blind followers.

Mary   February 15th, 2008 - 7:52 pm

Its not just NBC but CNN is also trashing Clinton daily and declaring Obama a prophet, a movement,or maybe the reincarnation of Jesus. When I went to school this was termed yellow journalism. Report the facts please!
