The best thing about these new weapons is that the are far greener and have less pollution and carbon emissions than standard chemical weaponry. Perhaps someday soon they will be mandated by US and international law.

Yet, another wasteful use of taxpayer dollars during a time when the country needs to get itself out of a hole. Thanks a lot.

1) The rail gun is used in the “Star Wars” mythos. 2) Its not mobile because its not attached to anything yet. 3) The U.S. doesnt use chemical weapons. “Chemical weaponry” was outlawed in 1993…FYI.

Fake… a rail gun would not send a projectile hurling through the air with a firey trail behind it. There would also be no reason to have such a heavy breach behind the projectile. That projectile was powered by an explosive charge. I’ve see rail guns before an they never needed that type of barrel… total BS

If America is looking for something that will silence all of its enemies, all it needs to do is get some bricks and mortar and build a wall around Berkeley California. And if they lobbed over a constant supply of pot, KY Jelly, Valium, cheap anti-Christian art and communist propaganda, nobody behind the wall would ever feel the need to leave! The rest of America would be safe, bright and happy forever.

The “fire” can be explained by the extreme air turbulence caused by the fact that this projectile is flying at Mach 7. Sure, normal railguns don’t have a “fiery trail” like this, but normal railguns don’t fire their projectiles at anywhere near this velocity.

Cool, but not mobile. Where are the star wars type weapons? I want to see the laser swords that cut off an arm and cauterize the blood vessels. Or the cool 1 man space ships that shoot laser beams.

What a crap video, no sound to speak of, no info beyond a string of incomprehensible clips.

intp1, grow up. This is raw video and it’s described as such. Get a clue.

E390   February 2nd, 2008 - 1:56 am

I’m an idiot. Ignore me.

Rover   February 2nd, 2008 - 3:28 am

The “fire” is the projectile burning up like a meteor. That is the “next” problem they have to figure out :D They have been working on this for 50 years now…. Yawn…

Try burning atmosphere due to the super heated air following the projectile. This would explain much of the fireball following the projectile.
