Romney Debates Mormon Faith With Iowa Radio Host

Presidential candidate Mitt Romney engaged in a heated discussion about politics and faith while appearing on Jan Mickelson's show on a Des Moines radio station. The candidate goes into extensive detail about Mormon theology in remarks that came after the formal portion of the broadcast. Romney did not know that the stations in studio camera was recording his comments, though the campaign did put the full video on YouTube. The full twenty minute version can be found in the related link in the post. This excerpt begins as the conversation turns to Mormon faith.

[...] folks are whipping up the video of Mitt giving it to Des Moines DJ Jan Mickelson as proof that he’s a dirty, two-faced liar who isn’t as sunny and calm as he would [...]

Jan Mickelson was totally rude to Mitt Romney. Mitt answered Jan’s question and Jan kept asking the same question over and over again. I guess he thought Mitt would change his answer. Look at how many times Mitt answered the same question the same way over and over again. I would have liked Jan to have spent time on other issues instead of trying to trick Mitt to changing his answers. I believe Mitt really believes what he told Jan the first time. Jan wake up and come and join real reporters and DJ’s Thanks for giving me the chance to express my feelings… and Jan my feelings would be the same no matter how many times you asked the the same question.

I have to say, despite being a liberal, I’m impressed with Romney. He gets the personal/public policy distinction, and the host doesn’t.

Wow, we need a president that can debate like Mitt!

Well, just goes to show that the Press is not the place to get the truth. maybe 1/2 truths and distortions. I’m glad I had a chance to see this clip. It has helped me understand the truth about Romney, that he has a backbone, and that people like Jan are total idiots.
