Is Obama Striking the Right Tone on Iran?

Washington Post: U.S. officials say Obama is intent on calibrating his comments to the mood of the hour. They say he is seeking to avoid having the demonstrators accused of being American stooges and is trying to preserve the possibility of negotiating directly with the Iranian government over its nuclear program, links to terrorism, Afghanistan and other issues.

Well this is MSNBC and it’s a waste of time watching it, except for one thing.

That one thing is this:

Obama is doing nothing with regard to Iran and the MSNBC Obama Cult followers are falling all over themselves to list excuses as to why the administration is doing or saying nothing.

Now in defense of Obama, it’s got to be pretty tough to weigh in on some other guy’s crooked election when you’ve just had one yourself.

But today, for the first time the Presidential Approval Index fell below zero to minus 2. So I clearly see IMPEACHMENT in 2010.

Obama is showing himself to be the weak and incompetent leader those who opposed him knew he was. Now, you have a naked example of this.

Is Obama Striking the Right Tone on Iran

WITH THE CIA?!

Anti-GOP   June 21st, 2009 - 2:37 pm

The President has played this perfectly. Most GOP supporters do not have a sense of how Geo-politics is practiced. All they know is to speak belligerently and start wars. Had Obama spoken and picked a side in the current Iranian strife these same people would oppose him for inflaming the situation.

Where most of the Republicans are concerned their position is always the one Obama has not chosen. That is they are nothing but Monday morning quarterbacks.

If Obama say go the GOP says Stop. If Obama says Stop the GOP says GO.

Long may your sojourn in the political wilderness last, but you can take solace in the fact that you have Rush and loud mouth Hannity to both entertain and comfort you.

POOPING ON THE GOP   June 21st, 2009 - 3:11 pm

I want some of what ‘ol Ace Goodman has been smokin’! He’s CLEARLY delusional like the rest of the irrelevant far right wing wacko party of “NO”!

THE FAR RIGHT GOP   June 21st, 2009 - 3:16 pm

Bomb, bomb, bomb,….bomb, bomb Iran!

The GOP’s new theme song now that Obama is President. Never happened under the Shrub Admin, and now suddenly the Neo Cons have all the answers?? Apparently NOT since they’ve been tossed out of power and irrelevance in THIS country thank God!

AMEN!!! don’t let the left wing loons get ya …YOU ARE SPOT ON….

Whatwhatwhat   June 21st, 2009 - 3:43 pm

I’m sorry Rethug idiots, did Ronald Reagan pursue regime change in Iran? Did George H.W. Bush? Did George W. Bush? Why not?

And you want this President who is tasked with cleaning up the mess made from the arrogant overreaching of the last rethug President to interfere in a matter of civil unrest in Iran?

The President has done exactly what Americans (minus reich-wing rethugs) want and that is condemning the abuse of Iranian citizens and acting tactically to prevent the Iranian government from having a legitimate excuse to abuse these protesters.

I always have to consider that reich-wing rethugs don’t care about doing what is right unless they can get something out of it. As usual, your political tactics show your low class.

Obama is weak– the world can see it. It took him a week to say something remotely supporting freedom! Why should we be surprised? He doesn’t believe in our Constitution, our liberties–it is a disgrace! Thank God at least Congress spoke out– and now the left is trying to spin everything to make Obama look good– I hope America is waking up– we are in for a world of hurt with this guy– no one respects us– Let us pray for these souls in Iran who are brave enough to stand up unarmed against a Hitler like , totalitarian regime. Please Americans stand up for your rights before it is too late– this administration is the laughing stock of the FREE World– Obama thinks the UN can solve problems– he must be smoking more than tobacco– how about crack! If you cannot give a strong message of support to these brave souls — this is a fake, a sham of a Presidency– Wake up USA! Contact your Congressmen & women and tell them you want your country to make the current regime in Iran take notice. Does he really believe he can sit down and discuss Iran’s nuclear arms build up with this thug who murders his own kind without a shred of mercy in his soul? Either Obama is the most arrogant , naive politician we have had , or he is a calculated Marxist who believes the end justifies the means. The Community Organizer isn’t prepared for leading the Free World– has he found a church yet in D.C? Just wondering?!

ALex   June 21st, 2009 - 5:38 pm

Well, people who voted for him didn’t think he should do anything but talk to other countries, so I guess he isn’t.

dr jay   June 21st, 2009 - 5:59 pm

the country voted for change. we consented to weakness and naivete and the man has lived up to the billing. no one should be surprised at any violence and repression coming from an arab regime. until a nation gives women equal rights they cannot be expected to trusted on any level. expect them to be the scum that they are.

racerx   June 21st, 2009 - 6:35 pm

dr jay,

I doubt there would be much difference if McCain were president. I say that because the CIA has been reportedly working on overthrowing the Iranian government this time around for several years now, maybe four or five years.

Anyway the CIA has reportedly spent 400 million dollars in Iran to provoke a revolution. That’s a lot of money.

I think this is mainly about the CIA carrying out a plan that has little to do with whether a Democrat or Republican is in office. I could be wrong, but that’s my take. Post JFK, what president is going to really challenge the CIA?!

JP   June 21st, 2009 - 8:18 pm

If you do NOTHING all the time you are bound to right sometimes.
No matter what happens the MSM will say it was brilliant!

Wecome back Carter!

Kitty Litter   June 21st, 2009 - 9:55 pm

Striking the right tone on Iran??

Only if someone sneaks it onto the teleprompter and surprises him.

Not to worry – his media hoes will cover his arse for him.

RogerCfromSD   June 22nd, 2009 - 3:21 am

This revolution isn’t about Obama, so he should pipe in any time.

As the leader of the free world, he has an obligation to speak out and support the people of Iran.

The fact that he legitimized the current regime is his fault. He never should have done that.

Now, he is equivocating.

The best thing that could happen in Iran is if the people there overthrew the mullahs.

But they probably won’t get that far because Obama is a weak voice.

JamesEverest   June 22nd, 2009 - 4:07 am

Obama desperately wants to vote present. The mullahs have been at war with the US since the revolution and Obama worried about offending them? What they might build a nuclear bomb? If Obama cared about freedom he would have said so by now. If Obama cared about fair elections, he would have said so by now. If Obama cared about democracy he would have said so by now. Obama is waiting for the right opportunity to apologize. I am sure Obama and Chavez are having frantic calls trying to figure a way to help out their friend. And Brezinski says the neocons are fascists? Fascism always comes from the left, not the right. But I digress. The bottom line, Obama does not speak unequivocal eloquence because freedom is the enemy of socialists and their agenda. Socialist never apologize for what they do. They only apologize for their country to make themselves look morally superior and above it all while trying to not actually take a moral stand against evil.

Oh Boy   June 22nd, 2009 - 8:57 am

@racerx

Do you also think 9/11 was an inside job?

Sour Grapes   June 22nd, 2009 - 9:11 am

Lets do the GOP way.Go in and start bombing Iran.
We should have nuked North Korea a long time ago.

Fighting wars on four fronts, means we will have to reinstate the draft.
I am sure the GOPERS will step up and enlist.

JamesEverest, define your idea of socialism and explain why you think Obama is one according to your definition.
Btw I not interested in name calling.Which is what right wingers do,if they don’t have a rational argument for their beliefs

mary M.   June 22nd, 2009 - 9:48 am

Obama’s actions need not center on which official should be Iran’s leader. The issue is democracy or the vote of the people. Heavens sake, we do not need the CIA involved in this matter. Nonetheless, the President should say something to the point about democracy in this region without insulting either party. What I do fault the President for is letting [c]ongress speak in his stead.

Apparently this is a theme with him. Again, I am not judging the President’s character, only his actions. If you look at his abstensive voting record in [c]ongress you would notice this trend. Only history will reveal whether or not his actions were correct.

H2K   June 23rd, 2009 - 10:33 am

I just saw where the White House is insisting that the genesis of this revolt is Obama’s speech in Cairo.
I think the genesis of this revolt is that Iran’s neighbor to the west has gotten a taste of democracy and they want some of that for themselves.
Thank you, George Bush and Dick Cheney!

SuperSarge229   June 23rd, 2009 - 6:43 pm

Obama is a coward, plain and simple.
A typical, hard left, immoral coward who has never put in an honest days work in his entire life! The only time he has courage is when he is ripping off the American Taxpayer with his ridiculous budget plans!
If Texas really secedes from the Union, I’m moving!
And by the way, where the heck IS the bozos birth certificate? I keep hearing it’s a non-issue, but I darn sure haven’t seen a copy of it! I have seen nude pictures of his mother though! Scrawny, pasty looking, nasty little hoe!

Whatwhatwhat   June 23rd, 2009 - 10:35 pm

Coward? The only politician in recent history to run away from his job is Rethug Governor Mark Sanford. This what Rethug leadership amounts to, a disappearance.

And Texas isn’t going anywhere but the idiot Rethug governor will likely be thrown out of office.
