What, are we Muslims now where we have no tolerance? Ok, she may have said something offensive but get over it and stop being so thin skinned. Don’t watch ESPN if it’s a big deal to you.

John   January 26th, 2008 - 8:53 am

Superstitious people need to get a life. Get over it. Jesus, if he even existed, died 2,000 years ago. F#&% him.

James   January 26th, 2008 - 9:26 am

Whatever happened to freedom of speech, and when exactly did it get taken away?

VoiceofReason   January 26th, 2008 - 9:35 am

Jesus is so easy to pick on I guess. Try saying what she said about Allah and there would be calls for her head. At least the Catholics just protest and go home peacefully.

ljheidel   January 26th, 2008 - 10:09 am

So, they want her fired for insulting somebody’s imaginary friend who lives in a castle in the sky?

All I can say is “f!@#$%^ Jesus!”

Allah   January 26th, 2008 - 10:51 am

preach on sister

greg newson   January 26th, 2008 - 11:36 am

Don’t we all know Christians are second-class
citizens in this new world order. She would have been fired if she said something against gay marriage.
Jacobson?? is that like Sorenson.

So this can’t be tolerated? I thought christians were supposed be all about love and tolerance! They are hypocrites in the extreme. It is their sentiment, attitude and ignorance that was responsible for the dark ages, burnings at the stake and the whole sordid history of this stupid, quasi-voodoo religion. They don’t seem to have a problem railing, ranting and raving against agnostics and atheists do they? If the sportscaster aimed her barbs at us they would have applauded. Go back to your caves, raise your hands and do a couple of hallelujahs. You are all psychological slaves but you don’t know it. You are pathetic and unworthy.

neo   January 26th, 2008 - 11:56 am

It doesn’t suprise me the visceral hatred that the libs have for any one that does not hold to their beliefs. They are angry, disrespectful, hedonistic, lustful, perverted, ungreatful, selfish, hypocritical, baby murdering, anything goes, for any reason, hold nothing sacred, except for their sick beliefs, brood of whiners. DO NOT VOTE FOR A DEM OR THATS WHAT YOU WILL GET!PRISONS ARE FULL OF DEMOCRATES! REALLY CAN YOU SEE EXCEPT FOR A SMALL HANDFUL OF ANYONE IN PRISON VOTING FOR A REPUB! THINK ABOUT IT!

Mike Maz   January 26th, 2008 - 12:54 pm

F-ck J-sus F-ck Allah F-ck Buddah f-ck religion

Seconded. John is a piece of crap and an evil moron.

THE FLEA HAS SAID IN HIS HEART, THERE IS NO DOG.

effuderec   January 26th, 2008 - 3:45 pm

Derec, Muslims would have rioted in the streets and would have literally taken the offender’s head if given the opportunity. Muslims are dirty animals.

effujohn   January 26th, 2008 - 3:48 pm

Eff You, John. Archeological studies have shown that Jesus, or someone like him, probably did exist. Your lack of education is showing.

Even if Jesus didn’t exist, the symbol is GOOD, so if you can’t handle a symbol of goodnes, then you’re lowlife scum.

Sue   January 26th, 2008 - 3:57 pm

The protestors are out there yelling about something they have NO evidence of? No video or transcript exists!

Of course the Catholic religion has a long history of this: Worship of the Virgin Mary, worship of saints and display of graven images (Christ on a cross) are expressly FORBIDDEN in the Bible. There’s no Biblical prohibition on meat on Fridays. There’s much more.

A private event that takes place behind closed doors is NOT ‘the workplace’.

The protestors are out of line. Let the network’s sponsors decide if the woman should stay or not.

Jesus   January 26th, 2008 - 4:22 pm

Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing.

Gore08   January 26th, 2008 - 5:50 pm

Put on a hijab and march for peace! The US will need to learn to become a good Dhimmi. Vote Democrat for the hijab! Tolerance, love, peace, multiculturalism, utopia, perfect society, diversity… these are the words of change. But first, we need a strong central authority and state.

Viva Democrats!

cluelessin ky   January 26th, 2008 - 5:55 pm

The comment regarding the fact that the protestors may not have the tapes is accurate, but it appears that a tape does exist, and ESPN has it. Unless there is a criminal or civil case ESPN does not have to release it.

As for freedom of speech, too often that “right” is misunderstood. The right of free speech exists between the individual and government entities. There is no such right between individuals.

whattheheck   January 26th, 2008 - 6:08 pm

I guess I’m confused on what 1st amendment “free speech” protection means. I thought it stated that the *government* shall not abridge this right. I don’t remember the clause that says every person can say whatever they want and be protected from the consequences by a nanny state. IMHO, speech, if done from a podium sponsored by an employer, can have negative consequences if it threatens or opposes the interests of that employer, just ask Rush Limbaugh. In this case, the negative reaction of a few religious folks does not create the critical mass necessary to engender substantive action by ESPN. Christians are easy targets. If ESPN decides a nominal punishment is in order, so be it.

steven seagal   January 26th, 2008 - 6:19 pm

clueless in ky, what are you talking about. the first amendment is part of the bill of rights – rights which are not dictated by the gov’t but rather inherent to free people and simply repeated in the first ten amendments. further, the only limits on free speech as interpreted by the supreme court so far can be found in Brandenburg v. Ohio, where the judges found that only speech that is “directed to and likely to incite imminent lawless action” can be banned (e.g. inciting a riot).

Stephen   January 26th, 2008 - 6:28 pm

To John and ljheidel,
Why do yo hate Christians so much? I do not claim to be better than you because I am Christian. I am a better person than I would be if I were not. That is all. And you have a choice. You can meet Jesus.Or not. No problem.

Paul T   January 26th, 2008 - 6:44 pm

Trying to compare these protesters to the Islamic “Danish cartoon” protesters is ridiculous. These protesters are speaking their minds peacefully and respectfully, not burning embassies and calling for murder and beheadings.

Of course this woman has the right to “free speech,” but that right comes with the responsibility to be held accountable for what you say. She has the right to say it, and others have the right to peacefully protest it, as they are doing.

eric   January 26th, 2008 - 6:48 pm

Jesus, Allah, and their followers can blow me. We need to make more fun of religious icons and the idiots who follow them

John   January 26th, 2008 - 6:51 pm

Whenever something like this happens, and Christians complain, they point out that the offenders wouldn’t say it about Muslims because they’d get they’re heads cut off. To which I ask; and your point is? Are you saying you wish Christians acted as irrationally and violently as radical Muslims? Of course, some Muslims given the opportunity, would behead critics. But that doesn’t make it a better reaction, it makes it a worse reaction. And yes, I would be less inclined to say F#&% Mohammad in a public forum in, say, the Middle East, than F#&% Jesus in a public forum in the US for that very reason. Hey, when you feel persecuted, you can count up the numbers of Christians in the executive branch, the legislative branch, the judiciary and all the state governments and take comfort in the fact that they make and enforce the rules, not those of us that fail to find stories about invisible men convincing. Like I said, F#&% Jesus.

Norcross   January 26th, 2008 - 7:19 pm

Whether it was offensive or not, I’m sick of people being offended FOR me. If I have an issue, which I don’t, then let ME handle it the way I see fit. Not to mention, this was a ROAST. They’re intended to be offensive, done in bad taste, etc. Just go back and watch some of the other ones that have been done recently.

Stephen   January 26th, 2008 - 7:39 pm

Where does this hate come from?

John   January 26th, 2008 - 7:49 pm

I don’t hate Christians. Everyone in my family with the exception of yours truly, the vast majority of my friends, my ex-wife, nearly every woman I’ve dated (there were a couple of Jews) are Christians. I must say that the antagonism toward the religion that you read, or hear didn’t arise in a vacuum. It’s the majority religion and it has some loud, self important spokespeople: Ted Haggard, Pat Robertson, the deceased Jerry Falwell, James Dobson et al. These are folks that have spearheaded efforts to shove their religion down our throats using state power, while proclaiming how persecuted they are.

Natasha   January 26th, 2008 - 7:50 pm

Thank you Paul T. Although I don’t like the gist of what this woman may have said, she is free in this country to say it. And the protesters have the freedom to speak their minds as well.
Personally as a born-again christian, I would have ignored it and chalked it up to ignorance on her part and allowed for the fact that she was drunk and it was a roast.
Now, had she been on the ESPN tv saying these things, that would have been more appropriate to protest.

John   January 26th, 2008 - 9:03 pm

Bill Donohue and the Catholic League (Bill Donohue) need to stop worrying about someone saying F#&% Jesus, and worry about Catholic priests that actually F#&% underaged kids.

James   January 26th, 2008 - 9:23 pm

Hey John……you are a piece of crap and an evil moron.

John   January 26th, 2008 - 11:48 pm

You don’t know me James, so you’re just blowing hot air. You need to come up with better insults than that. If you disagree with something I said, then tell me where I’m wrong.

Brian   January 27th, 2008 - 6:27 am

As a Christian who knows and loves Jesus, I can’t say I find this particularly offensive and all I can say is that I feel sorry for that lady because she has no concept of what she’s saying. Well fortunately it’s not the unforgivable sin either… Either way, it seems like the protesters were overreacting a bit. Christians seem to forget that it’s kind of like when Peter cuts off the ear of the guard who arrests Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane and He tells him not to bother (”those who live by the sword will die by the sword”.) God can take care of Himself and all I feel we can do is pray for that lady…

Sally   January 27th, 2008 - 11:51 am

you know jesus? how does one get to know this mythical creature? does he touch you in your sleep?
i’m sure god takes good care of himself but i hear he forgets to wipe from time to time..is this true?
