Congresswoman Concerned Over ACORN Involvement Will Not Complete Census

"I know for my family the only question we will be answering is how many people are in our home. We won't be answering any information beyond that, because the Constitution doesn't require any information beyond that."

Well said – I’ll be doing the same.

Michelle, keep up the good work. It has to be hard working with a bunch of cowards.

Sean R.   June 19th, 2009 - 10:39 am

If ACORN were around during my grandparents days, these left wing vermin would’ve been in orange-jump-suits, sitting in a jail-cell for what there doing to this country.

BTW, did any of you good folks saw that old film called “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington”? The film came out in 1939 (4 decades before I was born, heck, it came out before my mother & father were born as well), and in that film a Junior Senator is elected to Washington DC, and see’s the corruption in the government, etc. So he stands up and fight’s government-corruption, and in some scenes in the film, they hold hearings on the politicans who are corrupted. To me there should be hearings on ACORN, and boy do we need a politican who is kinda like that Senator Smith character in that old film!

By law (92 Stat. 915, Public Law 95-416, enacted on October 5, 1978), individual census records are sealed for 72 years.[32] This figure has remained unchanged since before the 1978 law, reflecting an era when life expectancy was under 60 years, and thus attempts to protect individuals’ privacy by prohibiting the release of personal information during individuals’ lifetimes. The individual census data most recently released to the public was the 1930 census, released in 2002. Aggregate census data are released when available.

Magyarfrau   June 19th, 2009 - 11:00 am

I wish more people would be concerned about ACORN’s involvement in the Census taking process. They are under investigation in many states for their illegal voting activities. Why should anyone trust them with Census information? Sealed or not sealed. I see that someone in the US Census bureau is threatening Bachmann with a $5000 fine if she doesn’t answer all questions– some other official said the first bureau official misspoke and it’s $100 fine for the same and no jail time. I would consider that $100 of stimulus money.

They are used for gerrymandering and campaign fund raising. They are now under control of a White House Census Czar who has final say on their disposition.

That is true, these verminst left wing thugs are under investigation in numerous states, hell they should be investigated in all 50 states across America, not just 11, 12, 13, etc. And I know that most of the leftist nutjob posters such as nutjobnutjobnutjob, Bill Airs, Stupid-boy-Larse, etc. are gonna post here and apologize for these vermin who are committing voting fraud by registring dead-people, probably children (you can vote when you turn 18, not under 18 you left wing nutjobs), telling people to vote numerous times instead of once, etc. These left wing posters are so goddamn predictable, just watch and you’ll see these morons take the side of ACORN!

Here is the actual census. I will not be filling out the ACS.

Think how different things could have been if the neocon zio-kook “war for Israel” machine hadn’t gone all out to prevent Ron Paul from being the candidate. You people better wake up – the zio-kooks would rather have *YOUR* freedoms thrown down the drain rather than risk even the slightest reduction in our sacrifice for Israel (which includes our tax dollars going to Israel, wars for Israel, opposing Israel’s enemies like Iran – all a huge waste in order to serve ISRAEL’s interests)

I’ll tell them how many people live in my house as stated in the Constitution – but that’s it

anon   June 19th, 2009 - 12:30 pm

They won. They can do whatever they want now.

Who can blame Bachman?,I plan on filing a false name for the 2010 census just because they GPS’d my home 5 weeks ago, that is way too creepy and will eventually be used against us someday.
Remember, the Japanese were rounded up during WW2 by utilizing the census data so it’s not paranoia.

Mam Boxer   June 19th, 2009 - 1:26 pm

anon – pretty dumb comment. We won we can do what we want. Sounds like a two year old.

Robert   June 19th, 2009 - 1:51 pm

Why would they be interested if I lived at my present location months ago,and why do they want to know all my sources if income? Wow,if I report under,or over my actual income, by accident, that would be an exuse for arrest?

Drano   June 19th, 2009 - 2:50 pm

I notice that in the pdf file from Andy above that most of the questions are described as “from” some past date all the way back to 1790 or so but none of them are described as “as required by the constitution”. In the 1700’s and the 1800’s nobody was compiling dossiers on everyone in the country for political purposes.
There are a lot of ambiguous answers you can give to avoid refusing to fill out the census. Who knows their true racial origins – the only answer that is true for Americans is “mixed” or “various”. “Unknown” is an honest answer for some questions much of the time.

Anne   June 19th, 2009 - 2:59 pm

In 2000 I only answered the constitutionally required questions and the census people came out to the house and when I did not provide any more info they went next door and asked the neighbor for the info. I found out later from the neighbor. I complained to my senator’s office and they inquired from the census people who verified they are allowed to ask neighbors for the info.
Of course that means they are not concerned about accuracy, just an answer to put down.

Other   June 19th, 2009 - 3:01 pm

Unfortunately there is no Constitutional right to privacy.

Kitty Litter   June 19th, 2009 - 3:33 pm

Here’s an argument that it’s unconstitutional for the president to take over the Census from the secretary of commerce.

It goes like this: Article I, Section 2 of the Constitution provides for an “actual enumeration” and a statute passed by Congress provides that the duties under this clause are to be performed by the secretary of commerce.

Article I (as Joseph Biden didn’t know in debate) is about the legislative, not the executive branch.

Hence, it is argued, the president can’t substitute a sampling for the enumeration required to be done by the secretary.

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   June 19th, 2009 - 5:09 pm

Michele…thank you for caring about America…our people, our freedoms and liberties according to our governing document…the Constitution.

Something that Bilderberg Bush-Obama and his henchmen seem to be circumventing repeatedly!

Why is the Congress letting them get away with it? Why is the Supreme court?

America…we too…will be only giving information about the number of people in our household!

Pass it on to your family, friends and neighbors to do the same!

Again, thank you to this patriotic woman who is not afraid to stand up and be counted!

========================

GOD BLESS AMERICA THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE…MAY OUR ‘CHRISTIAN’ GOD IN OUR ‘CHRISTIAN’ NATION COME AND HEAL OUR LAND AND OUR PEOPLE AS WE GO TO HIM IN PRAYER AND ASK HIS FORGIVENESS FOR THROWING HIM OUT OF OUR SCHOOLS, OUR HOMES AND OUR LIVES!

Larse   June 19th, 2009 - 7:15 pm

With the NSA and Bush’s magical wiretap powers, Obama does not need the census or ACORN now to spy on you fools :D :D :D

I believe in Freedom of Speech. Nonetheless, it has to be spoken or [in this case] texted fashion designed with argumentative intentions. For instance, reasons have to offer a conclusion. For example, Kitter Litter’s comment is a laudatory example of argumentative text. However, Dave your text is an ad hominem; meaning, you attacked the person(s) as opposed to qualification. Additionally, I would like to say that posts like yours gives the designer of the website a bad name [or good depending on the objective]. Not only that, it gives extremists [both sides] a reason to claim that “bigot” whites do not want a black president.
However, I am aware that there exists many conservatives who do not feel the same as you. What I am trying to say is that you hurt the cause [legitimate complaint against government] for those individuals who want their voices taken seriously. Also, I am aware that you may be an opponent of conservative posing as an extremist. Nonetheless, use good examples as your guide when posting an argument to make your point a reasoned [or a well thought out] point.

Just wondering what Obamanation offense she has committed with that post.
Is it not gay enough or something?

I cant believe I have to breath the same air as this woman.

We ought to list her on Craigslist.

Free to good home. One silly Congresswoman from the state of Minnesota. Barks a lot but lacks intellectual teeth. Ideal for Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia or other right wing wacko squirrel nest of a state.

POOPING ON THE FAR RIGHT   June 19th, 2009 - 11:31 pm

lisa   June 20th, 2009 - 12:51 am

Wonder how much the Obama adminstration pays people to write nasty things about Republicans?
Michele is a strong courageous woman who stands up for what she believes it. With the census, she really has a good point!

Kenny C   June 20th, 2009 - 11:28 am

These census people are a joke….while working in Cleveland back in the 70’s when 75th & Hough was the murder capitol of Cleveland a census taker lady comes up to me and asks how many buildings are there on 75th that are still standing…..not only does she not go in the buildings to see how many live there she afraid to drive down the street….Hough area ain’t sheit anymore….can’t remember the last time when anyone was killed there…..Cleveland turning into a ghost town….some sections now look like farm land with all the buildings missing

JUST SAY NO   June 20th, 2009 - 4:42 pm

People need to WAKE UP and WISE UP. Check out these links below.

One person suggests calling Police and reporting a SUSPICIOUS PERSON HANGING AROUND THEIR HOME & TELLING POLICE THEY WANT THESE PEOPLE TO GO AWAY. Maybe that would work, maybe not. Americans HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE LEFT ALONE.

One handy maxim for dealing with BOUNDARY-VIOLATORS: IF YOU GIVE THEM AN INCH, THEY’LL TAKE A MILE.

BE DEAF, DUMB & BLIND… The only real solution. Anything short of that is a “handle” and you will be JERKED AROUND MERCILESSLY FOR THE NEXT 6-12 MONTHS OR SO, WITH NASTY THREATS & DEMANDS FOR “MORE.” (See ANNE above.)

P.S. A “NO TRESPASSING” SIGN ON THE PORCH MIGHT HELP, too.

Michelle, thank you for clarifying what is the bare minimum I’m required by law to respond with in the census.
I wish the census was for just statistical informational purposes, but instead it is used to distribute the wealth in the most political expedient method.
When the left-wing g@y contingent starts to “h@te up” on someone like Michelle, then you know she is doing the right thing, eh Larse?
