I can’t stand arrogant, elitist politicians! They’re the scum of the earth.

racist   June 18th, 2009 - 10:58 am

hey he shoulda called you a self serving elitist pig instead?

Eddie   June 18th, 2009 - 10:59 am

Typical elitist type of ilk that we have controlling our government now. It would seem to me that with our Congress’ track record, I wouldn’t want to be known as “Senator”!

Marine   June 18th, 2009 - 11:02 am

When speaking to a Brigadier General of the US Armed Forces, she should be saying “Sir” before and after each utterance from that arrogant pie hole under her nose…respect demands respect…friggin’ pols (D or R) are pi ssing me off.

In a perfect world with perfect justice, she would not have risen any higher than owning a lingerie shop in Brooklyn.
PS and the General did NOT work hard to get his stars?

johne   June 18th, 2009 - 11:08 am

Senator – n. A member of a senate.

Ma’am – n. Used as a form of polite address for a woman. I guess she is right Ma’am doesn’t fit her.

It's called protocol, folks.   June 18th, 2009 - 11:08 am

I guess it’s hard for you right wing hacks to understand that but it would be like calling the general “mister” instead. You would have a cow if she did that!

As usual BB reports a non story when there is a lot of real news out there.

TYPICAL SAN FRANSICKO LEZBO FEMINIST   June 18th, 2009 - 11:10 am

IN THE MILITARY SAYING MAM IS A SIGN OF RESPECT, BUT NOT FOR THIS MUTT FROM SAN FRANSICKO!

Eric   June 18th, 2009 - 11:15 am

I believe the term is “on wheels.” Or rhymes with rich.

DC   June 18th, 2009 - 11:16 am

What an arrogant disrespectful pig! And to its callled protocol folks, get a freaking clue.

Tom   June 18th, 2009 - 11:17 am

She’s a pig, plain and simple.

It's called Imabitch, folks   June 18th, 2009 - 11:18 am

As usual, a liberal waste of human flesh shows no respect to a military officer. Yes, there is real news out there…Obozo swatting a fly and peta sending him a fly trap that will be used to catch and release the fly, unharmed. It was on CNN, it must be ‘real’ news.

John_Galt   June 18th, 2009 - 11:19 am

The General was acting respectfully and as a soldier should. What a bi%tch. What’s her malfunction? She might have worked hard once, back in the day when she first got elected but I don’t know that any of them work hard, judging by the ‘great’ job they are doing for the country lately.

We understand protocol   June 18th, 2009 - 11:20 am

We right wing hacks understand protocol. Just like we understood it (and didn’t have a cow) every time you left wing hacks referred to President Bush as “Mister Bush.”

Matty Ice   June 18th, 2009 - 11:20 am

Uh…. could you please address me as “Bitch” I have worked many years to earn that title!

And a dumb-ass one at that! Californian’s pick real winners to represent them!

Jean   June 18th, 2009 - 11:21 am

What he really thought was probably really a female dog but since he has had battle scenes a lot tougher than conversing with this arrogant liberal, the general(my opine) is worth twenty Boxers thought he should give her her ‘due.’
When will California wise up and get rid of this smug impersonation of a statesmen. That will be the day they also exile Queen Pelosi, her sister in arms.

Hickok   June 18th, 2009 - 11:22 am

What a self absorbed POS this hag is. This gentleman earned his way, he was not elected by loony gender benders from Calipornia. I think the proper form address to this wench would be Senator Kunt.

Mike   June 18th, 2009 - 11:23 am

Boxer is an idiot. She is all about her and not about America…her statement says it all.

calirangr   June 18th, 2009 - 11:23 am

Well, another opportunity missed. He should have said, “Gladly Ma’am.” or, “Certainly Senator. I’m more comfortable with that anyways. Ma’am is gesture of respect. Senator is a job title.”

Phil Cormier   June 18th, 2009 - 11:23 am

It’s a good thing Col. Nathan Jessup was not testifying!

Paul   June 18th, 2009 - 11:24 am

Let’s move on.

This broad needs to get back to destroying the country.

swingvoter   June 18th, 2009 - 11:24 am

What about calling her B#tch. They refer to males as “sir” all the time.

KL   June 18th, 2009 - 11:25 am

Do us a favor Senator, and go back to California where they love this type of smack down. This is the first round of the Boxer rebellion.

Jean   June 18th, 2009 - 11:25 am

One last parting shot…
Is there any wonder that California is in the shape its in when you have Boxer, Feinstein, Waxman and Pelosi as your reps. Actually that explains a lot about our country’s condition. GET REAL CALIFORNIA AS IT IS NOT ALL ABOUT GAY MARRIAGE RIGHTS! YOUR COUNTRY’S FUTURE IS AT STAKE AND YOU KEEP SENDING BACK THESE FOLKS…

Nicole   June 18th, 2009 - 11:25 am

What a b#tch.

dj beltran   June 18th, 2009 - 11:33 am

I remember that when SENATOR Sam relinquised his seat next to Massachusetts esteemed senior Senaotor his comment went something like this – ‘When I arrived six years ago I wondered what I was doing here, BUT now I say to myself – WHAT am I DOING here????

Now there was a real Senator for the people and government by the people*****

michael   June 18th, 2009 - 11:38 am

what a stupid bitc4

HammerSix   June 18th, 2009 - 11:38 am

That officer worked much harder and for a much longer time than she ever did or will to earn the title “General.”

MY response to her: “Ma’am, I respect that you worked hard for the title “Senator,” and I worked hard for the title General, so, in accordance with military protocol, you will address me as General for the rest of this conversation. Thank you, ma’am. Can we proceed now?

Airman   June 18th, 2009 - 11:39 am

Clint   June 18th, 2009 - 11:49 am

That comment is an example of exactly why so many people HATE politics and refuse to vote. These politicians are JOKES! Many of them have never had a real job and have not had to make sacrifices this man has had to in order to get where they are. They simply lie and pander to the uneducated masses who continuously keep them in office.

Monk   June 18th, 2009 - 11:52 am

Americans don’t have “titles”! We left that behind in Europe over two hundred years ago. Oh, I have one for her. Try PUBLIC SERVANT!!!

Lucenut   June 18th, 2009 - 11:52 am

Dr. Evil: It’s Dr. Evil, I didn’t spend six years in Evil Medical School to be called “mister,” thank you very much.

MrSatyre   June 18th, 2009 - 11:53 am

Kudos to the General for maintaining his cool! I would have laughed in her face if she’d had the balls to say that to me.

Jim   June 18th, 2009 - 11:54 am

She doesn’t deserve to be referred to in any respectful way! What’s a title when your job is wrecking the US of A?

Boxer   June 18th, 2009 - 11:55 am

Yes…I’m sure her knees are quite sore from her “working real hard” to get that title.

protocol? huh?   June 18th, 2009 - 11:56 am

To the post that said it is protocol, your analogy is seriously flawed. Maam is to sir as mister is Miss or Mrs. Calling a General Sir would be completely appropriate and calling an woman General Maam is also protocol. It just show the disdain that some of these people have for the military. She was elected as a liberal woman in San Francisco and he of course did nothing to get to be General. If nothing could be described as being willing to put yourself and your very life itself on the line to protect the rest of us. Which do you think is a harder road?

Wannee   June 18th, 2009 - 11:59 am

These people are just getting rediculous. BUT these liberal idiots have been this way forever.
They are little insignificant people.
They rely on a couple of things to keep them elected:
Ignorant masses, Environmental Fascists, Cowards (who are afraid of war for any reason), weirdos, communists (don’t worry folks, not namecalling THEY REALLY DO HAVE THEM AT THEIR RALLIES – OPENLY) AND Miserable little prideless people who don’t mind looking you in the eye and saying that they deserve the fruits of YOUR LABOR.

LOOK AT CALIFORNIA,NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY, etc.

BOXER B…. and her nut Lib friends are running it in the ground!!!!!!!!!!!!!

stevedc   June 18th, 2009 - 12:02 pm

I was thinking of a word that started with a C

Blandon   June 18th, 2009 - 12:02 pm

Boxer’s remark was uncalled for. She shouldn’t have embarrassed him like that. He was showing her respect and she was not reciprocating. The voters should strip her of the senator that appears before her name. Boxer is repulsive. She was repulsive before this rudeness and continues, as is clearly seen.

Neo   June 18th, 2009 - 12:02 pm

How about addressing Boxer as “filthy, lying, corrupt political hack” which is what she is?

Bonnie   June 18th, 2009 - 12:02 pm

Time to get rid of Boxer and all incumbents who have forgotten that they were elected to serve and not to rule. California, please do your duty and throw the bums out. In fact, you could call it the “Boxer Rebellion.”

Maggie in Indiana   June 18th, 2009 - 12:03 pm

It was rude of her to interrupt his answer for a clarity of her title. Some people in authority need validation where none is due. Mame is perfectly acceptable to most women who don’t wear boxers!

Boxer is a typical bloated politician and an arrogant witch. Why do the stupid people of California keep voting her into office?

ClassAct   June 18th, 2009 - 12:06 pm

Typical of the liberal, democrap mindset: She’s more concerned with how he refers to her (albeit in a respectful manner), than the substance of his speech. She’s a hack, she couldn’t carry his jock. She shoulda been aborted.

Dave   June 18th, 2009 - 12:08 pm

Notice that in all of these senate hearings, the senators have arrogantly allowed themselves to sit alot higher up than those being questioned(grilled).
These are supposed to be “our servants” and if anyone should sit below the citizens or military being interviewed it should be them!.
Also,Boxer is a disgusting, gun abolishing aspiring tyrant and it’s clear that she relishes her “title”.

What a slap in the face to all military personnel. Senator Boxer is an arrogant pig. It is customary for military personnel to call elected officials and other officers Sir or Ma’am. If he was referring to her by name, then he would use the title “Senator.”

She obviously was feeling insecure about what was going on and decided to take a cheap shot at the general in order make herself feel better. It’s like she is back in high school. We don’t need idiots like her in Washington.

Recess is over!   June 18th, 2009 - 12:13 pm

The Only Adult Here is right. Don’t you children have something better to do? How about your homework?

John   June 18th, 2009 - 12:13 pm

This just goes to show you, what a bitch she is.
The military is taught to respect men and woman by using , sir or ma’am when speaking to another person. I am 65 years old and have been out of the Marine corps for sometime now and I still say sir or ma;ma when addressing someone.

Ms. Boxer is a disgrace.

Joe   June 18th, 2009 - 12:14 pm

Boxer is a total jack@ss. We are so desperate for term limits because apparently, voters in California are too STUPID to vote vermin like her out. What a small minded p*ss ant she is.

Bill From TEXAS   June 18th, 2009 - 12:14 pm

I think this 4th of July, we should take back our Country and re-claim our Independance!

Sir   June 18th, 2009 - 12:14 pm

Why is there a shock with her comment? She’s so far removed from reality, and seriously can’t understand normal thinking.

Abe   June 18th, 2009 - 12:15 pm

“I worked so hard to get that title.”

And that’s the problem. I don’t work for a title – I work to get something done. I don’t even know what my title is. She should have been working hard to serve the people she represents, not to get the title.

Veteran   June 18th, 2009 - 12:15 pm

Sen. Boxer and Sen. Boxer’s comments are just a symptom of a larger problem. What Sen. Boxer and others like Sen. Boxer don’t realize is that this hero put his life on the line to protect freedoms, like the freedom to vote and free speech. Sen. Boxer wants to respected, but clearly was disrespectful of the General. The liberal elite views the military as a necessary evil, but make no mistake they view it as an evil. Wouldn’t it be nice to have peace, love and understanding. Let’s not meddle in Iran, we will talk nice to them and they will only use nuclear technology for power. I mean really! You conservatives only need to look at the Clinton model used in North Korea. We negotiated a deal with them and they were good citizens of the world after that…oh…well…except for the nuclear tests and the slated missle test aimed at Hawaii via Japanese airspace. Why do these people continue to have contempt for our military and America?

Roger Roger   June 18th, 2009 - 12:16 pm

If not ma’am…sir then?

merle   June 18th, 2009 - 12:16 pm

proud air force wife   June 18th, 2009 - 12:24 pm

She isn’t worthy of shining his shoes, yet she demands that HE show HER respect? I’m sorry, MA’AM, but you did NOT earn your title, it was handed to you on a silver platter by the idiotic boobs that voted you into office. This man, on the other hand, DESERVES respect. HE EARNED HIS TITLE, Ms.Boxer. You should address him as “GENERAL, SIR.” He far outranks your puny political post. I look forward to you and all of your elitist buddies being thrown out on your rears next year. Better start getting your resume out there, lady. You’ll be needing a job soon. And it won’t be as cushy as the one that you’re used to. Perhaps you and your buddies could be the first to participate in BO and TK’S little Serve America brownshirt brigade. We The People would love to see you all out picking up garbage from the side of the roads, considering how much trash you’ve created in Washington thus far.

Don   June 18th, 2009 - 12:25 pm

I know the General worked hard for his rank, so I hope she referred to him as General or Sir! Typical liberal, who demands respect rather than earning it. I am sure the General earned the respect due him. How about you Ma’am Boxer!

Veteran, your comments were right on target.

shalub   June 18th, 2009 - 12:26 pm

what a stupid liberal bitch. We need to let Ca go broke. Every service man and woman should leave Ca and take their hard earned dollars with them. REMEMBER NO BAIL OUTS FOR ANTI AMERICANS

rider237   June 18th, 2009 - 12:26 pm

what she doesn’t understand is that by calling her ma’am, he’s showing her a higher level of respect than if he’d called her ’senator’. he probably was relieved to not have to call her ma’am.
this is an example of ignorance in power.
whether or not she has “earned” it, is a matter of opinion, but there are two types of respect shown in the military. the respect demanded by rank…senator, and the respect earned…ma’am.

Tom Paine   June 18th, 2009 - 12:27 pm

What an arrogant sarcastic bitch…the man was only addressing her as he would any other female superior, when not including her name.
I’d wonder what she’ll want to be called after being voted out next year. However, does anybody really expect Cali to wake up (sober up?) enough to notice what an ass they have representing them in the Senate, and vote for someone else?

Mrs. C   June 18th, 2009 - 12:46 pm

My husband called me over to view this video snippet. He said he wanted to see my reaction. I think Mrs. Boxer was nasty and disrespectful, disdainful, and dismissive of the General’s humanity or stature, speaking in that tone as if to a dim child needing guidance, cutting the General off while he was in mid sentence. What she shows the viewer is her LACK OF CLASS. I don’t get involved and would not have imagined writing a comment on the internet, but Mrs. Boxer sure did hit a nerve, enough to make me want to tell it to her face. She does not have legitimate authority to speak to a polite and cooperating person in that tone, let alone hold herself so lofty as a senator. Is there a way to send all of our comments to Mrs. Boxer?

Bawney Fwank Eyes Obama Bum   June 18th, 2009 - 12:47 pm

I detect a little insecurity on Boxer’s part. I think she is envious of the respect the General gets, but she is lacks.

>>I guess it’s hard for you right wing hacks to understand that but it would be like calling the general “mister” instead. You would have a cow if she did that!<<

Nope, you are wrong. The equivalent of “Ma’am” (i.e., “Madam”) is “Sir,” and he would not be offended by being called Sir.

The equivalent of “Mister” is “Mrs.” and note that is NOT what the general said.

Since when is “Ma’am” not a term of honor? Because NOW says it’s not? And if you polled the nation, I think you would find the vast majority finds “Ma’am” an honorific much more so than “Senator.”

Bottom line, Boxer is being deliberately rude. Seems to go with the turf.

csc5502   June 18th, 2009 - 12:53 pm

He should have said:

“Excuse me, but I don’t work for you. I work for the President, so you don’t have any authority to order me to call you anything. Also, since you are an ELECTED official, if anything, you work for me. So call me “General,” a title I ACTUALLY worked for, unlike you, who got where you are by pandering to a bunch of dope smoking hippies and by buying votes with other people’s money.”

Of course, this is no surprise. Anyone recall Hillary Clinton referring to White House military aides as her “trained pigs?”

ranger17   June 18th, 2009 - 12:54 pm

She worked HARD for it!!! What a comic!!!

Crazy_Redneck   June 18th, 2009 - 12:55 pm

This is precisely why women don’t belong in politics. They wind up thinking they’re better than a male general (as if HE didn’t work SO hard to gain that title) and believe they can emasculate him. Get back in the kitchen Babs!

Her GYN probably needs an oyster shucker to perform her well female exam, as he’s probably the only man who’s been there in years.

Dawg   June 18th, 2009 - 12:56 pm

He should have said, “I’ll be glad to, MA’AM, when you have the common freaking courtesy to address me as GENERAL”.

sam   June 18th, 2009 - 1:04 pm

HOG!

David Baker   June 18th, 2009 - 1:09 pm

The general was being as polite and respectful as he could be. In the military and in most of the country, “Sir” and “Ma’am” are designations of respect. They are commonly accepted as such. The general would not have objected to being addressed as “sir.”

Maybe California is different. Nevertheless, Boxer has always been a first-class jerk and, obviously, continues to be one.

Tim   June 18th, 2009 - 1:12 pm

Someone should explain to the Senator, what the difference is between respect demanded and respect commanded. As soon as she does something worthy of commanding respect, she’ll stop having to demand it. What a worthless waste of oxygen she is.

rightfromtheheart   June 18th, 2009 - 1:12 pm

Hammersix is right on…he should have advised “MRS. Boxer, Maam,” that as long as she would be willing to call him by his proper tltle of General (which took far more effort to achieve than her elitist title of Senatora)—no, that wasn’t a typo, I meant “Senatora”; then they could show equivalent respect to each other. But for her to sit up on her throne and demand higher respect than she’s willing to give just shows her ignorance and arrogance…like that’s a big surprise. hmmm…a boxer’s a dog, right? Then she certainly fits her name, doesn’t she!

PTBarnumWouldBeProud   June 18th, 2009 - 1:12 pm

Mrs. Boxer…..I believe the Capital Police just ticketed your broom for being double parked in the Senatorial lot. You might want to get it moved.

How about we cut the politically correct bull crap. Mrs. Boxer, I don’t agree with you on ANYTHING, but there is one thing the two of us can agree on…

YOU HAVE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS THAN THIS TO WORRY ABOUT!!!

Moneyraker   June 18th, 2009 - 1:14 pm

As a Californian, I’m ashamed of my elected representatives (that I never voted for). She is a disgrace.

racist   June 18th, 2009 - 1:14 pm

you can tell when shes up for reelection, she walks around the capital with her knee pads on.

MJ   June 18th, 2009 - 1:16 pm

I daresay if she had shown him half the courtesy and respect he offered her, then I would be surprised. Unfortunately, she has no sense, class, or gratitude–obviously no humility for the position she holds…mmmm I wonder HOW hard the general worked and what he sacrificed to be entitled to the title of Sir?

Jack Cheney   June 18th, 2009 - 1:16 pm

Sometimes it’s best to just let the situation speak for itself. I thought the Army general was a perfect gentleman and he was treated very poorly. It speaks volumes about the people involved.

Rachel   June 18th, 2009 - 1:17 pm

MENOPAUSE!! What a hack who was probably raised rich and never had dirt under her nasty/elderly fingernails ever in her life.

Are you people adults are just kids playing on the computer.I dare you to go to a more main stream online news site, say Politico and compare your comments to the ones there.Maybe they just don’t post this kind of garbage there.”

Sir/Ma’am;

Free speech is still a right, no matter how stupid and arrogant you label it. If this site is beneath you, exercise your right to go elsewhere.

I apologize to all the other readers for making this off topic and personal.

BTW: “adults are just” is intentionally incorrect.
“adults, OR just” is correct”.

AbuBakerSmith   June 18th, 2009 - 1:19 pm

Get used to it people. This is the way things are gonna be in America from now on. You’ll say what you’re told to say and if you don’t like then you are impeding justice and will have to be beaten by police.
Barbara Boxcar has every right to dictate what words she desires to hear at the hearings.

Sean   June 18th, 2009 - 1:19 pm

In the military, you address a superior with “sir” or “ma’am”.

You address a subordinate with their title.

“Corporal Agarn, scrub those latrines!”

“Yes sir!”

Boxer, in an attempt to put the General in his place, subordinated herself to him with the request.

Irony doesn’t get more delicious than this.

kevinmc52   June 18th, 2009 - 1:21 pm

Worked hard for her title. Maybe so. I wonder if she ever dodged or took a bullet for her title. It’s just a shade harder to rise to Brigadier General.

Toby   June 18th, 2009 - 1:22 pm

Her obvious distain and lack of respect for the General speaks volumes about this arrogant, uppity, self righteous b i t c h!! California, you derserve this kind of representation when you elect such filth. I don’t know who’s worse…the box or pinocchio aka pelosi.

Steve   June 18th, 2009 - 1:22 pm

Mam…what a pompus a– you are! your arragance is not becoming…typical of a liberal.

Khan   June 18th, 2009 - 1:23 pm

I also belive he earned the title of “General” too, “Ma’am”.

What an arrogant and elitist comment.

Rocco   June 18th, 2009 - 1:28 pm

How about calling her former senator.

Julie   June 18th, 2009 - 1:32 pm

What a self righteous, self indulgent, snobish bitch!

She is an embarrassment to the State of California, that much I will tell you. I hope however runs against her out here, uses that tape and plays it over and over.

“I worked hard for that title” Please…..Get a life and a new job, Mam!

CommonSense   June 18th, 2009 - 1:33 pm

What a self reightous, sniviling bitch.

Shelley K.   June 18th, 2009 - 1:36 pm

Funny that she called him “you.” That horrid, arrogant witch. “Ma’am” is a sign of respect. It’s how a soldier or anyone else for that matter addresses someone with respect. The General earned his RANK. She got elected to her … position.

Still this is nothing new to her. Watch as she is beyond rude and talks down to General Petraeus.

Boxer continues to be the poster child for what’s wrong with this country.

Tom Paine   June 18th, 2009 - 1:36 pm

While it would certainly had satisfied many of us at a fairly basic level were the General to have put her in her rightful place, it gives me sincere pride as an American that the General, a classic example of the consummate professional soldier, merely apologized and addressed her as “Senator” per her request.

Inside I’m sure that the General was puking in his boots, but to the rest of the world he showed part of what makes our military great.

Alicia   June 18th, 2009 - 1:37 pm

Folks in California- heads up. Boxer, Pelosi, Feinstein and Waxman are all up for reelction next year. Get some good candidates that have respect for the military rather than contempt and you’ll be on the way to real recovery. Vote them out!!!!

Hrmmm   June 18th, 2009 - 1:38 pm

@Tom Paine

Hear Hear! I couldn’t of said it better! Bravo to the General!

President Obama has no comment on this. He will not be seen as meddling.

Robert Roland   June 18th, 2009 - 1:48 pm

“Could you say “c***” instead of “b****? I worked so hard to deserve that title.”

Tim   June 18th, 2009 - 1:48 pm

After watching Sen. Boxer, in an interview on CNN, about Gov. Palin, there was not one instance where she referred to the Governor by her title. It was the same when referring to Sen. McCain, Pres. Bush, AND our current President. She also seemed to get upset, when she was interrupted by Sen. Hutchinson.

Ron   June 18th, 2009 - 1:49 pm

Ma’am was an honorific I learned growing up in the South. I think Senator Boxer is working hard to gain another, and not so flattering, title.

You know, I’d like to know if she addressed him as Brigadier General. After all, he worked every bit as hard if not more to get that one.

Besides, Ma’am is the equivalent of Sir in the military. It does show respect. Ignorance.

Inferiority Complex   June 18th, 2009 - 1:54 pm

She’s only 4′11 tall so I am going to chalk up her behavior to an inferiority complex.

Ummmm, the title “Senator” isn’t EARNED. Senators are elected (by morons, obviously). Or maybe she should have said, “I spent a lot of tax dollars to buy that title.”

Rebecca   June 18th, 2009 - 2:00 pm

I would bet the general worked harder for his title

Hi there!   June 18th, 2009 - 2:02 pm

Maybe she would be happiest if everyone addressed her as “Highness”? Or perhaps she’d prefer “Majesty”?

This stupid, stupid b!tch thinks she’s aristocracy.

“Ma’am” and “sir” are acceptable for an officer addressing a legislator.

And I am willing to bet the Brigadier General worked A LOT harder — and more conscientiously — to get where HE’S at. All Boxer is, is one more unnecessary, self-important, self-serving, despicable hack.

Just another meddling hack choking this country by shoving one unwanted agenda after another down everyone’s throats.

But she’s a legend in her own mind.

Please vote out this self-important witch.

trb   June 18th, 2009 - 2:02 pm

Why didn’t she say what she really wanted and just asked to be called Your Highness or maybe Your Eminance or perhaps Great One. Oops that one is already Obama’s. What a stuck up, elitist.

Dakotakid   June 18th, 2009 - 2:02 pm

He is a military man. He addresses people as “Sir” or Ma’am”. This is what military men do. She needs to accept it & move on, and show HIM some respect by addressing him as either “General” or “Sir”. She is a public servant, who can be voted out of office easily. He will has seen many like her & would die to protect her right to spit on him. Truth is, she is not worthy to spit shine this man’s boots with her tongue. Seriously. Arrogance will will rue the day.

Old Man   June 18th, 2009 - 2:04 pm

ANOTHER NARCISSISTIC JERK!!!

Vicki   June 18th, 2009 - 2:05 pm

I agree, she does not deserve to be called Ma’am. What an embarassment! You arragant B*t#?. You are the one with no respect.

FuzzyWuzzy   June 18th, 2009 - 2:05 pm

The largest state in the Union and we have Barbara Boxer (clueless idiot who hides for five years at a time and then bursts out every 6th year for her election) and Diane Feinstein (who, along with her husband, is totally corrupt).

Ya think Californians will ever wise up? Not as long as Democrats refuse to clean house and get rid of their embarassments.

Why do Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Maxine Waters, Chris Dodd, Sheila Jackson-Leigh, et al. still have jobs? They not only don’t get blamed for all the havoc their policies and lack of oversight have caused, they get thanked by Obama for helping to solve the problems.

As long as Democrats put up with incompetence in favor of seniority, we are doomed. We need to form a new group of people who will invest and support new candidates to run against incumbant Democrats and the party machine, in districts that are heavily Democrat.

Professor Dick Zucker   June 18th, 2009 - 2:05 pm

Right after this exchange the Senate Hearing Room was evacuated as they thought a dirty bomb had exploded there. A Hazmat Team was dispatched to the room, and afte a thorough inspection its Commander declared a false alarm when another Senator told him that Barbara Boxer only douches once a year.

GENERAL IN THE ROOM   June 18th, 2009 - 2:07 pm

OK, Senator Kunt.

BG Walsh   June 18th, 2009 - 2:10 pm

Why yes Senator you f**king liberal piece of scheisse. Why don’t you work hard on my bag and all the other man-sacks in the room who have worked really hard to ensure you are alive and safe enough to insult us. GO I HATE ELITIST LIBERAL SCUM. ALL OF YOU.

Karen R   June 18th, 2009 - 2:12 pm

“Can you call me Senator?” No, thank you, Ma’am, I think I’ll just call you BIT_H!

ron   June 18th, 2009 - 2:13 pm

This is a good example of what happens when power is concentrated in an office or agency. This sponge from CA should be the poster child for the rich, elitist, arrogant left in this country. I would be embarrassed to have her represent me. She doesn’t even appreciate the fact that this General likely subjected himself to enemy fire on his way up the chain of command in order to allow this silly politician to speak in such a disrespectful way.

Simon   June 18th, 2009 - 2:13 pm

She should rather be called “Ma’am” because it’s a term of respect. The word “Senator” has come to be viewed in a very derogatory sense, mostly through actions such as hers.

SteveN   June 18th, 2009 - 2:15 pm

Should’ve told the b!tch to call him “General.”

Robert M   June 18th, 2009 - 2:15 pm

Please forgive California. Surprisingly, I know very few people who actually support the government here and the likes of Backwards Boxer. The problem is that they have rigged things so that it is almost impossible to get them out. Can we say…”Ruling Class” vs. us slaves?

[...] Boxer doesn’t want Brigadier General Michael Walsh calling her Ma’am. Call me SENATOR ’cause I worked so hard for [...]

FuzzyWuzzy   June 18th, 2009 - 2:18 pm

Get ready for this winter and next spring, when Barbara Boxer steps out of the bunker that she hides in for five years at a time. The media will have all kinds of glowing stories about her and she will be shown as being involved in just about everything. Obama will praise her on camera many times, etc. It’s what she does to get re-elected, and then she goes back to her cave to hide, coming out only to enjoy the trappings of being a Senator.

Want incompetence that is perpetual? Vote Democrat!

dee   June 18th, 2009 - 2:19 pm

It’s so impressive that the general showed such restraint. About the time she asked me to refer to her as Senator instead of ma’am, I would have replied “Yes Ma’am!”

What a piece of garbage Boxer is.

The general to whom she is talking to has more integrity than she can ever dream of “working hard” for.

Robert   June 18th, 2009 - 2:20 pm

How about you address him as General. I KNOW he’s worked a lot harder to get that title than your arrogant little title.

hey Recess is Over: These comments are childish… as compared to YOUR comment? Seriously?

twilliam   June 18th, 2009 - 2:23 pm

Senators are the most arrogant people on earth. Barack was an exception to the rule of Senators getting waxed in Presidential Elections(and I think he spent so little time there, he didn’t sounnd like one)…I think the last to win was JFK; the reason is they think they are better than everyone, especially the entrenched ones that seldom worry about reelection. What a jerk!

The Government We Deserve   June 18th, 2009 - 2:43 pm

Well California…Don’t you deserve better than this pompous windbag? Don’t you want better for yourselves and your children. How are things going over there on the Left Coast? Maybe it would be a good time to try a different course next election cycle out with Boxer and the leftists that have nothing new to offer except more and more debt to saddle our kids with. She worked hard to achieve her position…she ran as a liberal in California. Only Karl Marx dressed in drag could have given her a run for the job. C’mon California you have so much to offer, but instead you keep sending up these liberal kumbiya people that just whine all the time. For the sake of yourselves and the rest of the country send us someone that believes in a little fiscal restraint and personal responsibility.

“Certainly, Senator. Just as I’d appreciate it if you’d call me ‘General’. I’ve worked hard the past 35 years, serving in some of the worst rat holes in the world defending my country, sweating in remote jungles and deserts, freezing in the woods of Germany and South Korea, trying to avoid bullets, sand flies, and IED’s while sacrificing time away from my family. I believe I earned my title as much as you earned yours attending $1,000 a plate fundraisers and getting sloppy drunk at campaign cocktail parties in Berkley and San Francisco.”

JoeTaxpayer   June 18th, 2009 - 2:53 pm

Hey Boxer,
We do not have “titles” in America for civilians. You’re a civil servant, thats all. You’re not part of some elitist ruling class fantasy. You’re just a career politician who needs to get over yourself.

LiberalsAreParasites   June 18th, 2009 - 2:53 pm

You morons in california really picked a winner here. Maybe next time you can get it right.

RightStuff   June 18th, 2009 - 2:54 pm

This “lady” is a perfect example of why we should fear our government. See http://www.libertymind.com to see what drives people like Boxer and our president and his administration.

Sneadster   June 18th, 2009 - 2:57 pm

Aren’t all female boxers a b*tch?! Oh no that would not work either, PETA would have gotten their pink, left leaning panties in a bunch.

Ovedya   June 18th, 2009 - 2:58 pm

In the military “ma’am” is a sign of respect. In the chain of command it is tradition to answer your superior officer with “yes, sir, yes ma’am,” or to address them according to their rank. “Senator” is not a rank in the chain of command, therefore it was completely appropriate for the BG to address Boxer as “ma’am.” I can almost guarantee that the General worked a lot harder to achieve his rank than Ms. Boxer did to achieve her seat in the senate.

Mike   June 18th, 2009 - 2:59 pm

She must have got a real thrill doing that to a big strong general. Maybe when Mr. Obama creates his private military they will write protocol to properly address women and other minorities. Just wait, soon what the general said will be a hate-crime…

Conchy Joe   June 18th, 2009 - 3:01 pm

Let’s see, we are quickly becoming the greatest debtor nation in the world, our unemployment rates are skyrocketing, major banks and businesses are going under, and Sen. Boxer is concerned that a fine southern gentleman military officer (where female officers are called “ma’am”) calls her a name that has always been used as a sign of respect. Sen. Boxer, please get your head out of your rectal orifice and spend your time, energy, and breath on real priorities, please.

SplitTailHunter   June 18th, 2009 - 3:02 pm

The General is a better man than I am.

Steve   June 18th, 2009 - 3:05 pm

Too bad she worked so hard to get her title instead of working so hard to be in a valued position of public service… So who has worked harder? The General or the Elected Official?

jamaltimore   June 18th, 2009 - 3:14 pm

Curious when she says I’m sure I earned it! I doubt that’s really the case as my guess is she from a SUPER Elite Family that paved her way into politics. I”m sure the General has earned his strips.

Grade A bitch, too caught up in her own imagined importance.

Mr. Reality   June 18th, 2009 - 3:19 pm

Ma’am, F@*K YOU! Sorry. Senator, F@*K YOU!
For a politican who hasn’t seen a day of honest service to her country to say this to a man who has given his career to such service to say this. Perhaps California can pull it’s head out of it’s a$$ and vote this clown out of office.

She has worked long and hard to be the out of touch buffoon she is, and should not be called “Ma’am”. Some sleezy, disreputable, untrustworthy title should be used. OH Right…”Senator”. What a Schmo!

Matt   June 18th, 2009 - 3:27 pm

What a man-hating pig, that sickens me> The guy cowers to her and says “Yes, Senator”. Pathetic. I would have gone on calling her ma’am over and over again.

Billy   June 18th, 2009 - 3:31 pm

Awwww! Did you work soooo hard to get that title, and the meanie general keeps calling you Ma’am? Let me play you a song on the world’s smallest violin.

Keith   June 18th, 2009 - 3:41 pm

Military men and women are trained to use “Sir” and “Ma’am” when speaking with their superiors. The general’s use of “Ma’am”, implying that she was his superior, was actually MORE respectful than “Senator” would have been. Now, a US Senator actually isn’t anyone’s superior in the chain of command, but the general was being polite – a gesture totally lost on Senator Boxer.

Dave   June 18th, 2009 - 3:41 pm

Haughty and Pride…sums it all up. 17 years as the junior senator of California and she thinks she has worked real hard to earn the title. She has been running for public office from 1972 when she was 32 years old. In all probability the woman has never worked for a honest days wage like a normal person because her husband is a Worker Compensation attorney for unions.
In a real life scenario, if she was pitched for a real job rather than the deceit these ‘folks’ dish out during election season, she would be waiting in line for an unemployment check.
When will California wake up and stop sending these characters (Feinstein, Pelosi and Boxer) back to office?

Mike   June 18th, 2009 - 3:43 pm

Hey California….hurry up already and fall into the ocean.

Mike B   June 18th, 2009 - 3:45 pm

I wonder who worked harder for their title, the General or the “Senator”…. Actually the title Senator is appropo: $hit Eating Nitpicker After The Others Riches…..

C * U * N * T !!!!

DaDa   June 18th, 2009 - 3:58 pm

You know, it’s called protocol, folks you are right (and thanks for using “folks” instead of “people” so your superiority complex was somewhat blunted). I’ll head on over to CNN and the Huff for the hard-hitting coverage of the President’s hit on the house fly. As for Babs Boxer, she is cookie-cutter San Francisco area lefty wing-nut. She enjoys her little display of power over the big mean heterosexual male general from the hated military. After all, she worked hard for it. Not even taken seriously by members of her own party. What does THAT say about her?

MIKE M   June 18th, 2009 - 4:02 pm

It’s not a right wing or left wing issue, its an issue of arrogance and the privileged mentality getting in the way of fair and representative government. Our government past and present runs on the only one principle Power and its not of the people. She is a poster child for shame!

Chris   June 18th, 2009 - 4:02 pm

What a pompous bag of wind. The General’s little finger deserves more respect that her. It shows how little respect she has for the military and their officers. How long will WE put up with this garbage?

Bustyn   June 18th, 2009 - 4:09 pm

This pathetic narcissist is a disgrace to her district and her country. I would address her as madam bit*h, and that doesn’t even express the proper degree of contempt I hold her in.

We’ll call you “Senator” when you do your job instead of being an arrogant activist.

steve   June 18th, 2009 - 4:43 pm

what a freakin tool. Maybe thats why no one like Boxer. I think im gonna move to CA just so I can vote against her.

and senators wonder why no one likes them.

btw…”i worked hard to earn this title”…well im not gonna argue that boxer has worked hard……worked hard at screwing up this country.

Rob H.   June 18th, 2009 - 4:46 pm

If I ever meet Barbara Boxer, I’m going to insist that she call me “Master”. As one of her constituents, I think I deserve it. It’s just a thing I have.

Rob H.   June 18th, 2009 - 4:49 pm

I’d be curious to know if she ever addressed him as “sir” or “general.” I suspect not. She clearly holds the military in the deepest contempt. I guess we should be glad she didn’t spit on him and call him a baby killer.

John G., NYC   June 18th, 2009 - 5:01 pm

Barbara Boxer has absolutely lost it. She needs to be reminded that she magnifies the office of Senator, the office of Senator does not magnify her. If anything, she has depreciated the office with her arrogance, elitism and condescension. She sounds more like a Nazi (National Socialist) than a US Senator!

kmne68   June 18th, 2009 - 5:01 pm

Ma’am is rather better than what I usually call her.

Scared Dad   June 18th, 2009 - 5:06 pm

Great job California. You have elected this military lothing, self righteous, arrogant ass again. You and BOXER (notice I do not choose to reward her with a title) are STILL the laughing stock of the nation.

aj   June 18th, 2009 - 5:07 pm

I don’t care what she is, a General has more respect than she ever will, and, AND>>>If he had said : “you have got to be kidding me, right? No I won’t” any real president would back him, NOT HER!

Devil Dog   June 18th, 2009 - 5:08 pm

The Senator fails to understand the sincere form of respect offered by the General. One wonders why the military has disdain for the Congress. The General should have said, “You can’t handle the truth! Senator, we live in a world that has walls. And those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who’s gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Santiago’s death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives…You don’t want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don’t talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall.
We use words like honor, code, loyalty…we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use ‘em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I’d rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don’t give a damn what you think you’re entitled to!”

aj   June 18th, 2009 - 5:08 pm

She “worked”??? (hard)?? It took him 25 + yrs!! What did it take that CU^T?????

Cargosquid   June 18th, 2009 - 5:11 pm

Since the job of Senator is to serve constituents and that of General to lead, and a Senator is NOT in his chain of command, in a just world, he would have demanded that she respond YES, Sir.

LCDLBA   June 18th, 2009 - 5:11 pm

What a snotty little B*tch! These are the arrogant twits that need to be moved out of government! Where the hell does she get the idea any person needs to bow down to her!?! I hate people like this and it irks me that she shares the same title as me…Ma’am. That Gen. has spent more years serving our country than that old ugly bag has been alive!

RAltiere   June 18th, 2009 - 5:17 pm

Something happens to people when they become a Washington politician – the Congress of the United States is occupied by a bunch of classless, ignorant, crooked, lazy, disrepectful idiots. God Help Us!!!

john   June 18th, 2009 - 5:17 pm

Just call her skanky bitch like everyone else….

I’ll bet her parents are really embarrassed…

I hope she had class enough to refer to him as sir…

But she has no respect for anyone…

Idiot worthless woman..

This is why women should be at home raising children…They have no more sense than children do…

Butch   June 18th, 2009 - 5:20 pm

The General should have responded by telling that bitch “he would like to be called Brigadier General…… instead of sir”, “That it took him a lifetime of service for this country to obtain that rank” and would prefer that the Senator would have enough respect to address him as so”. What a bitch!

Bob   June 18th, 2009 - 5:20 pm

TI   June 18th, 2009 - 5:28 pm

FROM WIKIPEDIA: In January 2007, Boxer was in the news for comments she made when responding to Bush’s plans to send an additional 20,000 troops to Iraq. “Who pays the price?” Boxer asked Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. “I’m not going to pay a personal price. My kids are too old and my grandchild is too young. You’re not going to pay a personal price, as I understand it, with an immediate family. So who pays the price? The American military and their families… not me, not you.” When Rice interjected, Boxer responded by saying, “Madam Secretary, please. I know you feel terrible about it. That’s not the point. I was making the case as to who pays the price for your decisions. And the fact that this administration would move forward with this escalation with no clue as to the further price that we’re going to pay militarily… I find really appalling.”[74]
……………..

Now given her apparent feelings over the escalation in Iraq and the additional 20,000 troops…I wonder why she was silent when Obama added 20,000 troops to Afghanistan?

In fact I wonder why ALL the liberals, socialists,
and Marxists are silent with regard to Obama’s additional 20,0000 troops to Afghanistan.

Lets see, we see that Code Pink, the Huffington Post, Daily KOS, KosTV, FiredogLake, Time, Nerwsweek, CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC…and need I go on…they ALL complained and propagandized the number of deaths and the overwhelming costs of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan for more than ONE YEAR before the election and NOW THEY ARE SILENT.

Complaining on this board, and ALL OTHER BOARDS does nothing. They elected this piece of garbage. They are in control of the house and senate.

All I can say given this is f you see kay THE USA. What a bunch of baloney to put these losers in office.

I doubt the General is so insecure to object to being called “sir.” Liberals know the facts are against them, so they always focus on painting themselves or others as victims and the do’ers in our society as perpetrators.

They really are a lazy, jealous, insecure bunch.

Hitler worked hard for the title of “Fuhrer” too, but he was still a dangerously tyrannical Socialist S.O.B. not unlike some of the wretched, immoral traitorous sloths we see up there in OUR (We The People’s) Senate. Ah, the liberal progressive Ms Boxer who is always championing the little guys rights ( or so she wants you to believe) suddenly is concerned about her title. As usual , it’s do as I say, not as I do. She doesn’t really give a crap about the average person — she is in this for power , for herself. I doubt she even has ever entertained the thought of putting her country first and what it means to sacrifice for God and country. that is not in her psyche or make-up. She is a hard core leftist liberal who wants everyone to know that she and her kind are running the show now. She is on her power trip.I hope we can all survive their reign of incredulous stupidity and arrogance.

Captain Jack Sparrow   June 18th, 2009 - 7:11 pm

Boxer is all of 4′03″ but her arrogance is the size of Texas. A typical politician who wants her ring kissed by everyone she was eleceted to “serve.” She thinks her office is a throne room. She is an embarrasment to California. It’s so true that the Democratic party has nothing but utter distain for the military because it represents an America the stands for individual responsibility, respect, and integrity. LL in California   June 18th, 2009 - 8:52 pm

“The Senator ain’t got no class!” People with class do not interrupt, attempt to embarrass or put the “one up” on anyone. He was at least respectful. She is an embarrassment to women and to my state. My name is mispronounced frequently. I do not correct anyone about it – especially in front of other people. I hold a position of title and respect that I too worked very hard for…again, I would never behave as the “Madam Senator!” I guess I must be one of those crazy right wing women haters, right “Protocol”?

SickAndTiredOfThem   June 18th, 2009 - 8:54 pm

Arrogant doesn’t even come close to describing this Senator’s behavior. It’s PAST time to kick every one of these pieces of crap out of office. I know, I know, everybody says that all the time, but seriously people, isn’t it time???

Protocol? It was protocol.   June 18th, 2009 - 8:58 pm

It is military protocol to address a woman as “ma’am’. Another worthless representative of the people.

Disabled Cal Vet   June 18th, 2009 - 9:03 pm

Not too long ago, someone counted the numbers and found fewer and fewer politicians are ex-military. While this, in itself, is not a problem, when those in political office who have some say in military affairs have no clue about the subject, then problems arise. Surveying the various Web sites about this issue (yes, I need a life), I found that some made it an issue of sex, others of political leanings, and so on. Some were just, well, crude. In my very humble, and not often useful opinion (just ask my children), I do have a problem with how Senator Boxer treated the brigadier general in this circumstance. First, someone on one site said that protocol demanded that the brigadier general should have addressed her as “senator,” however, in checking my references, I found that both “senator” and “ma’am” are acceptable (Mr. or Ms., on the other hand, are not). I will say that my sources are not official military protocol manuals, so I may be missing something. Second, there is intent and there is civility at play as well. I did not get the impression that the brigadier general intended to slight her in any way. Further, stopping the discussion on an important issue to make this point, and not prefacing her remarks to him by saying, “General, may I …?” bordered on both rude and, frankly, weird. Be civil and scratch a note to an aide and have the aide deliver the note that says: “Brigadier General…., would you please address us as ‘Senators’ rather than ’sir’ or ‘ma’am’,” would allow the general to save face, keep the conversation civil and on point, and still get the point across — and if valid, it would certainly spread through the various commands as the preferred way of addressing senators in the future. Instead, this further inflames the politicians vs. the military division that is not helpful. Both entities deserve respect, and both should provide it as well. I do not see that the brigadier general failed in his duty; I am not as sure about the senator.

Mo   June 18th, 2009 - 9:07 pm

I’m very much impressed with the General. Notice how his eyes were up, not looking down at his paperwork. His voice was respectful, not condescending. It’s much harder to show respect for someone who obviously doesn’t deserve it, but he pulled it off magnificently.

coolluke   June 18th, 2009 - 9:09 pm

Boxer is a bi#ch and a big C. She is to ugly to get a real job. The people in Cal deserve her, I laugh at the problems Cal is having. It makes me feel good inside.

MarvH   June 18th, 2009 - 9:44 pm

Boxer is, using the immortal description of Grand Funk Railroad, a TNUC!

And well deserved.

Federal Farmer   June 18th, 2009 - 10:16 pm

Calling a Senator Ma’am is the same as calling a Senator Sir.. as long as you are addresssing the correct sex for the title. It denotes that the person is respected and in a superior position. Military men are trained to refer to women officers as Ma’am. “Private, Call me Liutinant.. really. I worked too hard to be called Ma’am.” See how petty that sounds? That’s all this is. An elitist ego being petty.

PickMark   June 18th, 2009 - 10:45 pm

I feel fairly confident that the idea of a career politician was not one of the desires of the founders when they envisioned elected officials. The very thought that elected officials are somehow better than any other citizens just because they got at least one vote more than the person that they were running against is absolutely against everything that I believe about Congressmen and Senators.

The current group of career politicians are interested in only one thing, and that is re-election. I know there are good arguments against term limits, but somehow I don’t think that those arguments outweigh the harm permanent office holders can and do create.

Why would we want to do anything to keep our representatives in those positions longer than 6 years? Why would we ever pay a pension to any elected official, including a President? Let us remove all national elected officials after a maximum of 6 years (two re-elections for Congressmen, no re-elections for Senators, and one 6 year term for President).

Sarah   June 18th, 2009 - 10:49 pm

Miss Boxer has obviously never served a day in the military and is clearly unacquainted with the traditions of any military branch- for if she was she would know that referring to someone as ma’am is a sign of respect, it is not a demeaning phrase. Miss Boxer is entitled and egocentric, she should remember she is not working for herself, she is working for the people of CA. This particular example crystalizes an ever present mood of pride in our government among the House and Senate; they are suppose to represent us. Instead, many are worried about their own fame and glory, and bask in getting praises from the elitists and the fawning media…

Dot   June 18th, 2009 - 10:53 pm

If she calls you General, you call her Senator. Did she address him as “sir”? No, so it’s simple really. As to those saying things like “It is military protocol to address a woman as “ma’am’. Another worthless representative of the people.”, if you hadn’t noticed, she’s not in the military, and he’s in her place of business. She is “Senator”, not “ma’am”. But hey feel free to insult her since it is the only way you can make yourself feel important. The only thing I will call you morons is “Hey you”, as in “Hey you, get me some fries with that shake!”

Jno.Buford   June 18th, 2009 - 11:06 pm

Rumour says Obama is coming over the hills from Carlisle. Should I hold this position if attacked? Confirmation requested.Wake up people, form your ranks!

Beavis   June 18th, 2009 - 11:21 pm

She is Ma’am or Senator Boxer, just as he is “sir”, or General Walsh

The president can also be addressed as sir, but this isn’t good enough for her?

Rhymes with “cupid hunt”

Jon   June 18th, 2009 - 11:36 pm

Wow.

How arrogant is that? She WORKED for it? Dumbfounded at how self-important and deluded she is. She has no respect for anyone but herself.

I guess appearing on Curb Your Enthusiasm and going to dinners and giving speeches is backbreaking, especially in comparison to a lowly peon who has only put himself in a situation to potentially put his life on the line as part of his job.

What a crass and petty person.

Kirk   June 18th, 2009 - 11:38 pm

How about calling her “Bitch”, which is what she is!!

Lock N Load   June 18th, 2009 - 11:43 pm

I’d have said “Yes Sir!”…

Worked hard my aunt fannie. Worked hard at stealing our money!! You COW!!

kmpk   June 18th, 2009 - 11:52 pm

Ma’am is a sign of respect. My son is taught to answer yes ma’am or no ma’am. Lets not forget that used car salesman are held up with more respect than politicians. The people that put on the uniform protect our freedoms. Not this self serving rude politician.

Chris Donaldson   June 18th, 2009 - 11:53 pm

She makes me feel so sad inside. It’s a pity, really it is.

Tex   June 18th, 2009 - 11:55 pm

Woman doesn’t know a damn thing about the respect the General accorded her… As far as “working for the title,” let’s just say a whore is more honorable in her work…

Charles   June 18th, 2009 - 11:55 pm

If barbara boxer knew the first thing about the military after all of her time in the Senate regulating it, she would know that the military addresses all civilians as sir or ma’am. It is also improper for a military person to address a superior officer as his or her rank, but it is proper to address them as ma’am or sir. Barbara Boxer is a disgusting person who talks down to someone who has served his country longer, and in a more dedicated role than she has. He deserves respect.

dr jay   June 19th, 2009 - 12:05 am

if she was my child i would administer corporal punishment.

Jack   June 19th, 2009 - 12:15 am

Forget Senator Boxer, anyone else notice that Nick Fury was at the hearing?

Scott   June 19th, 2009 - 12:19 am

can you call me piece of —t, General? I’ve worked so hard to get thru the bowels of the broken system that you are a slave to.

Scott   June 19th, 2009 - 12:21 am

can you call me piece of —p, General? I’ve worked so hard to get thru the bowels of the broken system that you are a slave to……people, wake up and and get these worthless politicians out of office. Can there be any better case for term limits?

Nancy   June 19th, 2009 - 12:30 am

This has nothing to do with respecting her title (which she did nothing to “earn” it), but everything to do with the liberals disdain for the military. Her intent was to humiliate & disrespect the General.
The General deserves our utmost respect & gratitude for his service!
Boxer is a WITCH!!

Greg   June 19th, 2009 - 12:42 am

Sounds like she hiked her leg up and marked her territory there…..

ltyr2001   June 19th, 2009 - 1:28 am

If GW Bush could insist he be called “Mr. President” and not “Sir”, Barbara Boxer can request “Senator” when addressed as well.

No big deal!

Ted   June 19th, 2009 - 1:41 am

Such nice people here… real Americans… right.

onthedot   June 19th, 2009 - 1:55 am

Pis*ing on Generals is not respectful to your constituents Ms. Boxer. The only thing you deserve is the right to do your job for the people you represent. Arrogance is not endearing to the citizens, Ma’am.

Russ   June 19th, 2009 - 2:01 am

I’m unable to comprehend how Boxer, Feinstein, Waxman and Pelosi keep “taking” office. It’s hard to believe that California voters are dumber than Palestinians. There must be an ACORN in there somewhere. Perhaps the General should start looking into voter fraud…

Gandhi's Fist   June 19th, 2009 - 2:24 am

Great observation Russ,

I’m with you on this. Something fishy must be going on in CA for these garrulous mental defectives to consistently win elections. They are the collective shames of their state, affronts to common sense and elitist power-mongers of the worst type. In brief, they are liberals.

Bill   June 19th, 2009 - 3:02 am

I’m from California, born and raised here. I’m also a retired Chief in the Navy. Respect from Boxer is something any military personnel will never receive. I’ve never voted for this split-tail before and never will. Common sense is lacking and perhaps non-existent in politicians and the American leftwing ideology. Blog posts are of no use in todays society since everyone feels good about reading posts with their points of view. However, we continue to do so, as we all are here to voice our thoughts and to maybe sway just one person to finally come out of their shell to state they “are mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore!”

But, to think that boxer (Capital letter intentionally left out) embarrassed the General? boxer embarrassed herself…she’s just too “duncified” to realize it.

It must be nice to live in “Bizarro World”.

I give the BG an A+ for respect for “it’s” office.

I give boxer a C, as in C U Next Tuesday.

Bill   June 19th, 2009 - 3:27 am

I have a great idea! The only way we Californians can become a Red State is for a call for Conservatives to move into California. Conservatives should move into California, then we can take back our beaches, our mountains, our deserts, our farmland, our cities, our communities, our souls.

Conservatives should not move out of California!

I’ve driven around a few towns looking for a new place to live here, and there are thousands of homes that are foreclosed upon and up for sale at great prices. A conservative could easily get a nice place for a nice price and become a voter here as easily as an illegal immigrant family could. We need you here. I know the politics suck here, but if we can get more conservative voters here, it can and will change…and we won’t have Feinstein or boxer in the Senate anymore.

Just a thought! If you can do it…DO IT!!

MiBu   June 19th, 2009 - 5:17 am

Eventually, the Americans will get these bottom feeders out of office. The easiest way is to simply recall the witch (under the 10th Amendment) and send her packing. It’s going to happen.

Chad, USAF   June 19th, 2009 - 6:20 am

“I guess it’s hard for you right wing hacks to understand that but it would be like calling the general “mister” instead. You would have a cow if she did that!”

Actaully, if you were ever in or around military, you would know that you refer to everyone as Sir or ma’am. So if Ms. Boxer would have called the general sir, that would be respecting the rank he earned as well. But how would I expect bleeding heart liberals to understand the difference. It isnt like he called her “madam boxer” now is it?

Tony, OHIO   June 19th, 2009 - 6:51 am

Once California totally collapses because of these political idiots,
there will no longer be a state to represent. One way to get rid of the lot.

We can only hope!!

Jay   June 19th, 2009 - 7:06 am

What a b*thc. She is sloached over and condesending.

She could take a lesson in respect from the General who is a true professional.

RightStuff   June 19th, 2009 - 7:58 am

The leftists in this country just hate the military. Boxer is a perfect example of the contempt they hold for the people who fight and die for her right to be a leftist loon.

Jessica   June 19th, 2009 - 8:34 am

And what, he didn’t work really hard to get his title? I would like to call her a few things and Senator is not one of them!! It is now apparent she has no respect for the military and I cringe every time I think she is actually a Senator. Shame on her for acting like she is so much bigger than anyone else!

It's_Chet   June 19th, 2009 - 8:38 am

I spent two years in the Navy and since then I have forgotten more about hard work than most people will ever learn. That was only two years of active duty. This guy’s a General, and obviously has been on active duty for a bit longer than my measely two years.

And this….. I’m sorry, there just aren’t words for what she is. She has the nerve to say she “worked so hard to get that title”? Why are people on the far left so quick to talk about “hard work” and “fighting” when all they really do is demagogue, distort, leech, ruin, self aggrandize, and generally waste everyone’s time with silly far left stunts like the multi-trillion dollar bailout or the stubborn and relentless roadblocks to energy independence?

She has no idea what hard work is! What an insult to the men and women working in factories, in garages, on police forces, in hospitals, in firehouses, and lest we forget, in the ARMED FORCES? While she’s sitting there on her grossly overpaid keester, nowhere near being in danger of breaking a sweat, we have real people out in the real world, doing real work, some of it dangerous. The only danger to her is that she might not get picked for some committee and therefore not make first place in this bizarre and childish popularity contest in which so many poiticians are hopelessly submerged.

They need to grow up! They need to stop being wastes of carbon! And that goes double for the pathetic tools of theirs who have come here and made insulting comments toward we the people because our freedom of speech is a burden to their brainwashed, zealot minds.

Tom   June 19th, 2009 - 9:06 am

She’s lucky he doesnt’just address her as dumbsh*t.

Sadie   June 19th, 2009 - 9:12 am

Yuck.

Dan   June 19th, 2009 - 9:29 am

You got your perks the easy way, sister. Lying, cheating and retreating. This man worked at being what he is. Address him as sir or STFU.

Go burn yer bra elswhere, sweetcakes.

Kevin   June 19th, 2009 - 9:32 am

“You best to get used to it, women will be running everything soon”

That is a quote I heard from a female administrator at the school that I work at. And this was said to a male high school student. It appears she was right. In the last 3 years at this school, all of the white baby boomer men are being replaced with females as they retire. So, to all you progressive young white men, I hope you like the discrimination you face. I hope it makes you feel diverse.

Monty6   June 19th, 2009 - 9:35 am

Those without class, honor, or distinction are the first to claim title and privilege.

Once-a-Marine-Always-a-Marine   June 19th, 2009 - 9:44 am

Let Sen Boxer know how you feel. Don’t just post your comments here, call her and leave a message telling her your thoughts on the matter.

The number is (202) 224-3553.

And yeah…she should have been calling the General, “SIR!” What the heck!

dudefromdixie   June 19th, 2009 - 9:44 am

She deserves to be waterboarded and bit%ch-slapped. So how many male senators do you supposed ask to be referred to as “Senator” instead of “Sir”. I bet none.

mike   June 19th, 2009 - 9:45 am

what a pompous liberal ass, he was showing you
respect, you libs need to respect the people who lay it out there everyday so you can worry about self titles! cant believe where this country is going, crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!

Erin   June 19th, 2009 - 9:47 am

Doesn’t [she] the Big C word mean she paid a lot of campaign funds for her title?

juan mccain   June 19th, 2009 - 9:55 am

The number is (202) 224-3553.

I called and left a short one sentence message. ahhh, kept it civil too

Micah   June 19th, 2009 - 10:29 am

Boxer is such a douche bag! Id address her as “hag commie-pinko, Senator!”

Mike   June 19th, 2009 - 10:38 am

I wish she, the other politicians, would work “hard” at not spending our money that we all worked so hard to accumulate. What an arrogant piece of work she is! She represents all of what is bad in politics.

Kitty   June 19th, 2009 - 10:39 am

Things must not be going well for Boxer.

I’ve known Mike Walsh for a number of years. He’s hardworking, responsible, an officer and a gentleman.

He’s earned his stars without empty promises — she keeps getting relected on empty promises.

Robert Sailing   June 19th, 2009 - 10:40 am

boxer is a douche bag!. I hope she has the opportunity to go on one of her tax payer funded junkets to Afghanistan or Iraq to see the damage she is doing to our military and country. Maybe they will protect her or maybe they will not.

Tomas   June 19th, 2009 - 10:44 am

Isn’t this one of he funnest things you’ve ever seen? Who needs script writers with clowns like ma’am boxer! SNL sign her up. What makes it even funnier are the bozos who think she is a real “statesman.” The reason she is a senator is she can’t cook and how much pancake makeup can one person wear anyhow? she already has lip gloss all over her face now all she needs are the big shoes and the nose that honks and she could get a real job.

Abbo   June 19th, 2009 - 10:47 am

Keep it up Ma’am, more and more people are waking up everyday, and that title that we HIRED you for will be given to somebody that respects the generals and the troops that really know what it means to sacrifice and work for a title.

Josiah   June 19th, 2009 - 10:50 am

That BG is an absolute bad ass! He knows what how to answer a senator even if that senator is being a complete power hungry bitch. You see this is a soldier, a military man and in that job you answer with respect to you superiour. You don’t allow yourself to show ugly pride or allow yourself to feel insulted. You respond exactly how you should with no wavering. That senator “however embarassing” at that moment is over him and he knows it. This is why this man is in the possition he is. He is a soldier down to the core. I am glad he answered the way he did. However I am humiliated by the conduct of Boxer.

Pumpkicker   June 19th, 2009 - 10:56 am

There is a time and place for everything. In the hearing room is not the right place. If it is that important to her all she has to do is have one of her staffers tell the military liasion office and it would be a done deal — no more Ma’am just Senator…

On the other hand she might have thought the General was saying Madam.

Katie   June 19th, 2009 - 11:03 am

Has this 4′10″ little runt apologized yet to the Gentleman for her rudeness? This pathetic excuse for a member of the human race needs to get over herself quickly.

Steven Zore   June 19th, 2009 - 11:03 am

I DEMAND AN APOLOGY FROM HER AS A TAXPAYING U.S. CITIZEN

C. Scrutinizer   June 19th, 2009 - 11:13 am

It would have been great if the general had merely looked up over his glasses and replied, “Mam?”

What is truly amazing is that after Boxer spoke, everyone else in the room did not crack up hysterically laughing with guffaws all around.

Personallyspeaking   June 19th, 2009 - 11:20 am

Senator,
Through the years, you have worked much harder at being a bitch.
Perhaps this is how you should be addressed.

Mary M.   June 19th, 2009 - 11:33 am

Senator Boxer,

You are a disgrace. Your arrogance places you on the level of swine because you are too ignorant to know the difference between slop and a delicacy. What is in the title Senator, but its association with corruption and inhumanity. At least with the word ma’am he appealed to your humanness. Your abuse of linguistics is representative of your state that is drowning in debt. Pompous woman you are, yes you deserve to be called [s]enator which derives its meaning from senex which means old man in Latin. So do you see that ma’am is more favorable? Yes, do be called [s]enator because ma’am is too kind.

Martha   June 19th, 2009 - 11:35 am

WE NEED TERM LIMITS, PEOPLE.
WE NEED TO RISE UP AGAINST THESE RULERS AND SAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, BEFORE WE ARE IN THE SAME BOAT AS IRAN.

John Navratil   June 19th, 2009 - 11:35 am

Senate derive from Latin ’senex’ or old man. It’s also where senile comes from, which characterizes the pronouncements of that august body.

Old woman is ‘anile’. Which appears close to an apt description of the grand Senator Boxer.

CommonSense   June 19th, 2009 - 11:48 am

Here’s the feedback I just submtted to her website that was listed above:

“Boxer, you are an arrogant fool. You didn’t call the General “BRIGADIER General” every time you spoke to him.
He’s worked harder for respect than you could ever begin to understand.
While I know you will never read this, it’s my duty to atleast send a response to your office or “Deleted” file…….
You should be ashamed of yourself you self reightous, elite, whinner……
You and your leaders Obama and Pelosi are the poster children of what is wrong with this country. Lack of true respect, humility, and a self imposed feeling of eltitlement that has been given to you – you have not earned it sweety.”

jay   June 19th, 2009 - 12:16 pm

I’m sure she wants you to address her as “Senator” before you kiss her a$$ too! What a flaming 8!TCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TonyValpo   June 19th, 2009 - 12:18 pm

“Ya, I’ll can you Senator…Senator Douche-Bag!”

Migalouch   June 19th, 2009 - 12:19 pm

Originally when I read the article about this I didn’t think it was a big deal that she asked to be called Senator, even though it is ignorance on her part to not understand that the military addresses people in positions of importance as “Sir” and “Ma’am”.

I was under the impression that she asked him in private to refer to her as Senator and if that was the case it was a non issue to me. But seeing that she did it in a public nationalized television setting just reeks of her utter disregard for him, and frankly looks like she was trying to embarass him.

Personal matters such as her request should be kept for personal conversations not be made public in an attempt to humiliate and embarass a person who works much harder than she has ever imagined to protect her right to that very title.

Here’s the feedback I just submitted to her website too…

Dear Senator Boxer, it has come to my attention that as a douchiebag azzwipe you prefer the title Senator. I can understand that, but please also understand that when one is in your presence, one is also overcome by the fact that you are a midget with the anuss of a rino and the kunt of a hobag. The stench would cause anyone to mistakenly call you, wham, bam, stinkyKunt ma’am. Thanks for all the hard work you do for you. You inspire us all.

C_Knight   June 19th, 2009 - 12:40 pm

“We understand protocol June 18th, 2009 – 11:20 am

We right wing hacks understand protocol. Just like we understood it (and didn’t have a cow) every time you left wing hacks referred to President Bush as “Mister Bush.”

I was wondering how long someone else would think this. Everytime they talked about President Bush it was Mr. Bush. I haven’t heard once Mr. Obama.

And I bet this General worked a lot harder to become General than she ever has.

Also she should have thanked him for serving and protecting her.

Can we fire these loons and start over?

Darrel   June 19th, 2009 - 12:40 pm

Ma’am is a sign of respect. Senator means corrupt egotist. So the ignorant Boxer beast demanded to be called exactly what she is. WE NEED TERM LIMITS!!!!!

What an arrogant person (wanted to say woman, but she might get offended). You don’t hear others saying “don’t call me sir, I worked to hard to be called Sir”. The nerve of this woman. There, I said it.

JJ   June 19th, 2009 - 1:05 pm

Regarding all of the uncouth comments, and complaints about them, I think they just show how much people dislike this woman, including myself. (I have come to pretty much dislike ALL career politicians, with very few exceptions)

She may be arrogant, but that is not what I saw in the video clip. I saw a petty woman trying not to sound whiny while niggling.

When evaluating the character of a person, you can tell a lot by the size of what bothers them…

jackme   June 19th, 2009 - 1:28 pm

Another worthless pile of political sheyotch…Cali is going bankrupt but first the city of Oakland will file. Thanks to the dirty scum politicians like Boxer who have sold out the American /California tax payers for the illegal alien invasion.

JUNK: schools, crime, welfare, food stamps, housing sect 8 declining values, penitentiary population 37%, health care cost, courts overloaded, hospitals and it want stop just as long as Cali tax payers front the bill…

stacy   June 19th, 2009 - 1:39 pm

I’m glad she doesn’t represent me.

John Wark   June 19th, 2009 - 1:49 pm

Dear Senator Boxer. You are unworthy to address a General. It was nice of him to be so polite to you. The reason the federal government is to pathetic is because people of your caliber get elected by promising idiot liberals all manner of schemes.

Molly   June 19th, 2009 - 1:51 pm

What an arrogant B***H! She needs to show some respect for who she is talking to. In the military you MUST address females as Ma’am and so forth.

Mike   June 19th, 2009 - 1:58 pm

She does not even deserve to be called ma’am, much less senator.

David   June 19th, 2009 - 2:01 pm

Very well said Marine….

“When speaking to a Brigadier General of the US Armed Forces, she should be saying “Sir” before and after each utterance from that arrogant pie hole under her nose…respect demands respect…friggin’ pols (D or R) are pi ssing me off. Semper Fi”.

The pols are having their day now, but the people will take their republic back!

ewem   June 19th, 2009 - 2:05 pm

She didn’t earn the title ‘Senator’, people gave it to her. She has earned many other descriptions in her lifetime, but today she earned the name
“Small Human Being with Big Head’

The General, however, earned his title. No one makes it to General without working through ranks, and accomplishing a great deal of standardized requirements.

The General, having earned his title, used the proper term of respect required by the military. ‘Sir’ and ‘Ma’am’ are the two titles used to a superior.

For instance, the General would not reply to the female Admiral Smith, “Yes, Admiral Smith” but the General would say “Yes, Ma’am”

If the General insisted on repeatedly answering ‘Yes, Admiral Smith”, the Admiral might suspect the General was a fool, or the General was mocking her

Interestingly the proper greeting for the Queen of England is to address her as “your majesty” when first introduced, and thereafter, as “Ma’am”

I am weary of the fools in Congress. We are on the precipice of the next World War and we need all our Generals and need none of the Congressional fools who got us to this point

WarEagle   June 19th, 2009 - 2:05 pm

How hard did she have to work to become an arrogant moron? And over the last 16 years I have come to conclude that the title of “Senator” holds little if any honor. Frankly, it should be considered a pejorative term.

Da Man   June 19th, 2009 - 2:21 pm

Can somebody post the DC office number of this woman so we can call and flood the office with requests to apeak with Madame Boxer?

Sean   June 19th, 2009 - 2:26 pm

He has also worked hard and should be addressed in proper format. She is a pampas politician who more then likely should not even be there.

Boxer has shown once again, her disdain for the military and the people of the United States. She is quite disrespectful and an embarrassment to all that we stand for.

She should be shot out of a cannon!

gramiepat   June 19th, 2009 - 2:44 pm

Just who the heck does she think she is???? This General has forgot more than she will ever know and for her to address this honorable man in such a manner is very un-respectful to say the least. She is totally in love with herself and arrogant on top of that. Would be nice if she would go home and take up knitting and take Pelosis with her.

What those senators and representatives have not learned yet, is they must earn respect from we the people and that they have failed in totally.

Maybe the general should have offered her a perk!!!!!

kit   June 19th, 2009 - 2:51 pm

How does trash address elegance in such a
disrespectful manner? PLEASE GOD, BLESS
AMERICA.

Kat   June 19th, 2009 - 2:56 pm

Did the General refer to the men in the room as Sir? Most military people I know just instinctively call women “Ma’am” and men, “Sir”. She must be a very insecure person not to mention stuck up!

TOYBOXX   June 19th, 2009 - 2:56 pm

Wow. The General is showing the senator respect by calling her ma’am and she disrespects him by interrupting him mid-sentence all because ’she worked hard at getting the position she has today’. So watch out world everything else needs to be put on hold all because this “senator”, a woman of power, needs a little attention.

Nef   June 19th, 2009 - 3:02 pm

Yes, Ma’am…err…Senator. Because we all know what a wonderful job you’ve done for the State of California, right? Perhaps you could verse yourself in a bit of Military terminology while your taking your time to correct a General, who has worked a hell of a lot harder than you ever will. Scumbag!

Jim   June 19th, 2009 - 3:04 pm

Military personnel always address people as ” sir & maam, out of respect. This is nothing new. Boxer has an agenda. We all know it. Her disdain for the military is very transparent. She is a self serving arrogant angry woman who did NOT work hard to become a liberal senator in Claifornia…pleeeeze.

Norman   June 19th, 2009 - 3:09 pm

Thats sickening. SHE worked hard? She should drop and give him 50.

CaptainPaul   June 19th, 2009 - 3:11 pm

Madam would be a more decriptive term for someone engaged in the business of politics. And she fits the bill.

Minority   June 19th, 2009 - 3:13 pm

I’m sooo sorry all these hippies grew up and took over California and now run our US Government. Everyone here is brain dead from all the sex, drugs, and rock n roll. They can’t help themselves.
It will take a new generation of people with morality and common sense to change what has happened here in California. Could take another 20 years or so for that to happen.

Michael J. Sutherland   June 19th, 2009 - 3:14 pm

Senator Boxer has forgotten that she herself is a public servant. She has failed to see that Senator is out ranked by Citizen and therefore you and I who vote. She also has failed to realize that in her quest for protocol, she her self is in violation by not addressing the Brigadier General by his full title as protocol requires.

Senator Boxer, you will address MY generals by they’re proper titles according to protocol! I am a Citizen, you will address me as ‘Mister’ or ‘Sir’, is that understood Senator? Or maybe you need to be fired and reminded of what ‘public servant’ means since you are acting like royalty all of a sudden.

JR   June 19th, 2009 - 3:14 pm

How dare this sorry good for nothing little dweeb disrespect a person in uniform. They are standing on the line for this woman and she is so petty as to insist that she be called Senator? A new all time low. When California goes bust soon, all you people who put nimrods like her in government stay in your state and live with the consequences.

Dottie   June 19th, 2009 - 3:17 pm

In the military Mam and Sir are polite terms used to whom you are addressing. Senator..worked hard? for the people..doubt it..for herself.YES!

Calrat   June 19th, 2009 - 3:19 pm

Excuse me Brigadier General, would you please alternate between queen b*!tch and royal c&*t when referring to me?

TED KENNEDY   June 19th, 2009 - 3:23 pm

Call me “SIR TED” as dubbed by the Queen.

The arrogance of this woman. Why isn’t this making any news clips? Military are trained to answer with respect, doesn’t a General in the Armed Forces deserve some back!!!!!!

Dan Condron   June 19th, 2009 - 3:33 pm

She worked hard whorin’ for a rich husband.
I wish the Gen. would have pulled his dick out and said ” I got your Senetor…RIGHT HEE “

Michelle   June 19th, 2009 - 3:50 pm

Is there any wonder at all why California is in the mess it is today? Wake up Californians. In your next election clear the slate of these sycophants who take your money and disrespect your will. The next time you go to the polls send all of them packing. Vote in those whom you know will do the will of the people and not those who run to a corrupt partisan judiciary to seek(without authority)to overturn your will and legislate around you because they think they know better than you do. Unfortunately, these bad judges do not know or follow the constitution. Please in your next opportunity at the polls vote for men and women of like mind and of honor. Dismiss those who are more concerned about their titles and their agendas than in doing their jobs well. Dismiss those from both parties who ignore your input and see you as just a vote to accomplish their own goals. On your next ballot send those who will listen, understand and do your will. Send those who will respect you and whom you can respect. Send those who will conduct themselves with decorum toward the men and women who place their lives at risk for the freedom of all Americans.

It is our freedom to vote. Let’s do it well.

Carol   June 19th, 2009 - 3:54 pm

Of course I want to join in agreement with all the comments that note how reprehensible Ms. Boxer’s comment was.

But as I think further about this exchange, it’s actually a beautiful gift to Americans. Here we have this snotty, snide woman who holds elected office who is a PERFECT example of an elitist, oligarchist (member of a ruling few) acting high & mighty before someone who has earned his rank through honorable & potentially dangerous military service, & a high ranking one at that – and she’s even lording herself over HIM.

We’ve been trying to warn people about oligarchy and here we have it being demonstrated to perfection & circulated virally to far reaches. SNOTTY ELITIST vs MILITARY PATRIOT. Don’t you love it? Which party looked really, really bad in this exchange? The OLIGARCHIST who thinks she’s way above everyone else, including high ranking military officers.

Wake up America. Do we really WANT oligarchists to rule over us? Do you want more of this? We don’t have Kings & queens, Dukes & Earls, Princes & potentates in the USA. This kind of stuff is un-American in its core. We fought & won the Revolutionary War, but because we haven’t been vigilant and demanding accountability of elected officials, they have turned into modern day princes & princesses. Elitist oligarchs like Boxer must GO.

Thanks Ms. Boxer for showing us so clearly exactly who & what you are.

hbspd416   June 19th, 2009 - 3:57 pm

What a snobby B*!#@ !! It was obvious this General was showing the respect due a sitting congressman or senator. It is ingrained, and rightfully so, that you show respect by calling a high-ranking official Sir or Ma’am depending on their gender. He was probably brought up like I was that if I spoke to any adult I was to answer them Sir or Ma’am so his entire life’s he’s used these terms. And now suddenly because this small, arrogant person doesn’t like it, he get belittled in a congressional hearing like he’s a child and has to change how he speaks.

Boy, Senator you REALLY showed who you are on this one. Of course we already know what most of you SF crowd thinks of the military. Why don’t you crawl back into your liberal rat-hole in California.

outofworkrose   June 19th, 2009 - 4:22 pm

I thought the sort of self absorbed attitute was the exclusive right of the residents of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Hmm.. Seems this attitude is as contagious as the Swine Flu. Perhaps after they try to cram down the messiah’s health care program, Babs (excuse me Senator)can go to see a doctor. It seems she is need of a cranial appendectomy, because her head seems to be deeply logged UP HER SELF INDULGENT GRANDIOSE ASS!!!

Jesus Christ   June 19th, 2009 - 4:25 pm

Ms Boxer, you are not allowed in heaven!

Anthony Funaro   June 19th, 2009 - 4:26 pm

Tell Sen. Boxer, I have very little respect for her for being so petty by being called Mam, by the General.
If she thinks she works hard try dealing with being a military person guaring her ass.
As a Korean Veteran, I was very much annoyed with her.

AE   June 19th, 2009 - 4:27 pm

That’s it California . . . keep voting for her! She represents everything wrong with politics in the US today.

I wonder why she doesn’t address him by “General Sir”? I think he worked harder to earn his title than she did!

Army Wife   June 19th, 2009 - 4:31 pm

Yes, she should be saying “sir” before and after every one of her statements or comments. She is disrespectful and should be thanking him for HIS time in service and acknowledging all of HIS hard work to get where HE is at and HIS title. She obviously doesn’t remember who she is working for, as so many forget in Washington today. She is to be serving the PEOPLE, we don’t serve her and obviously she needs to be reminded of who is protecting her freedom and privilege to serve as a senator. How Rude, Ms. Boxer, you should apologize!!

TaxPayer01   June 19th, 2009 - 4:38 pm

ABSOLUTELY DESPICABLE!

Jamison   June 19th, 2009 - 4:44 pm

Wow, you would think Boxer would have some manners. I refuse to call her anything but a cold hearted bitch. As a retired female Lt Col (USAF), I was referred to Maam daily. I knew how hard I worked and that I was a Lt Col. I didn’t need my ego stroked by telling an airman to call me by my title. My husband is a harding working CEO on Wallstreet, may he should be called CEO Allan. Boxer, you do not deserve the chair you are sitting in. I would love to show you 20 years of hard work. Be a real servant to the USA!!!

John   June 19th, 2009 - 4:45 pm

Right wing hacks? Why would it be about right-wing? I’ve been a Libertarian my entire life and I find Senator BABS deserving of a punch to the nose. You’re here for US LADY, not the other way around!

qlint   June 19th, 2009 - 4:46 pm

Californians get their just desserts. It’s who they chose.

thesiege   June 19th, 2009 - 4:47 pm

Calling her ma’am was much more respectful than calling her sentator.

By the way, the equivalent address toward him would have been “sir”.

For every day she’s worked in government, serving us so kindly, his rear has been on the line, commanding our troops and taking heat from pathetic whiney liberals. At minimum, he’s been putting up with their crap for 30 years. She’s sickening… Let’s not talk about who deserves respect.

kd   June 19th, 2009 - 4:50 pm

ma’am/sir is the highest respect we in the military give to people, so you are right Senator, you should have been called Senator, because you do not rate to be called ma’am. Retired Marine

DAVID RAVSNESI   June 19th, 2009 - 4:52 pm

BOXER IS A BITCH SHE HAS OVERSTAYED HER WELCOME AS A LIBERAL SENATOR(maaaaaammmmm)

TS   June 19th, 2009 - 4:59 pm

I usually don’t bother making comments… but this one …? WOW!!! … VERY arrogant on her part! So sad… I was very shocked by this one, the audacity of that woman!

legacy   June 19th, 2009 - 5:01 pm

More evidence of the dumbing down of America. The country is headed bigger problems than most people can imagine. A ship of fools.

AF_MSgt   June 19th, 2009 - 5:22 pm

Seriously? I’ve been around a while and have seen some pretty arrogant and naive things said and done, but this one made my jaw drop. While Senator Boxer did work hard to achieve her political status/position, the Brigadier General has been working longer, harder, and with more burden than she will ever know. Good day, Senator Boxer.

Ken   June 19th, 2009 - 5:37 pm

If he must call her Senator, the she must call him according to rank, with utmost respect. He worked a hell of a lot harder than she did for his title. A good response from him would have been–Please forgive me Senator, you condescending, egotistical, worthless, liberal politition BITCH.

SATX_patriot   June 19th, 2009 - 5:41 pm

“I worked SO hard to get it.”

Is that why you’re a senator? For the title?

Know what? Brigadier General is a much harder title to achieve. Frankly, MS. Boxer, I don’t believe you showed the General the respect commanded by his illustrious title.

Fritz   June 19th, 2009 - 5:52 pm

Hilarious. She does realize she works for the people right?

Chery   June 19th, 2009 - 5:52 pm

Barbara Boxer represents everything revolting about politicians–the General represents everything we can be proud of in our military. Thank you, General, for being a gentleman and a military man in not decking her.

John   June 19th, 2009 - 5:57 pm

I don”t think she worked hard for her to be called senator.

Roger   June 19th, 2009 - 6:02 pm

If that self serving witch worked for me, I’d definitely make her “Stand a post” ’till she couldn’t stand no more!!

TNinfidel   June 19th, 2009 - 6:09 pm

Boxer is nothing but a traitorous waste of skin. I hope we see her hung.

California, grow some balls and take back your state.

Proud Conservative   June 19th, 2009 - 6:29 pm

“Marine June 18th, 2009 – 11:02 am

Semper ”

I fully agree! He should have referred to her as “What a Bitch”.
Well What a Bitch, to answer your question….

The last I checked, it takes blood sweat and tears, not to mention honor, integrity, sacrifice and courage to become a soldier of his rank. Where as it takes money, the ability to lie cheat and steal, and a complete disregard for how the people really feel to become a senator.
Guess which one I would trust more!

Eric   June 19th, 2009 - 7:08 pm

She acts as if he called her the B word. The GENERAL had respect for her (not just as a senator, but also as the weaker sex). Boxer (no title added because she still hasn’t proven that she has earned anything to me) should consider moving to elitist island because she really has no business in the U.S.

Of TN   June 19th, 2009 - 7:52 pm

This Gentleman fights for your freedom. Show some respect ma’am

Caligirl   June 19th, 2009 - 7:56 pm

Typical Liberal woman–always trying to be like a man. In defense of CA–not all of us voted for her. There are still a few intelligent ppl in the state.

Rod   June 19th, 2009 - 7:58 pm

He should have referred to her by her appropriate name, Hey B#$%^&, but he is a Sir from the services and a Gentleman.

Marine Corps Veteran   June 19th, 2009 - 8:00 pm

Every American owes General Walsh the utmost respect. Every parent, wife, child, and family member can thank him, and everyone in his command for the change that he made in the life of the one closest to them, and for the sacrifice that he made, and his family made in the process.

It’s too bad that she wasn’t in Viet Nam, and disrespected a Marine General in front of other Marines the way she did General Walsh, but on the other hand, if she had been there maybe she wouldn’t be here now!! “Giving Gets”
Semper Fi!!

Ozzy   June 19th, 2009 - 8:18 pm

What a bitch. Hard to think my money is paying her salary. Go to California and sink along with the state,,,,,bitch.

FederalistNo55   June 19th, 2009 - 8:26 pm

Apologize publicly to Brigadier General Walsh IMMEDIATELY! The smug manner in which you behaved is utterly disgraceful to we, the people. But you’re too blinded by your own arrogance and inflated ego to realize how disrespectful your snide comment actually was. We are a grateful nation who holds our military men and women in the highest esteem and wouldn’t dream of treating them with such flagrant condescension. Who do you think you are, anyway? You are NOTHING but a lowly PUBLIC SERVANT whose become a career politician of the worst breed. You wouldn’t know hard work if it slapped you upside your empty head, MA’AM. General Walsh worked to achieve his success. Yours was given you – BY WE, THE PEOPLE. Your office belongs to US and you are NOT entitled to it. It is entrusted to you. You work for us, MA’AM. And don’t you EVER forget it.

Bob   June 19th, 2009 - 8:47 pm

Just an elitist proving the real title rymes with an itch word.
She talks of how “hard she worked” (i.e. what it took to shake down those donars) but thinking people that Generals had to do real work (yes, even that bozo Murtha did at one time)

The real question is when will KA get smart and run this person off?

Anthony   June 19th, 2009 - 9:16 pm

You have got to be kidding me! She has seen a Few Good Men to many times. I think the General has surely earned his title, she is supposed to serve the people. No wonder California is in such bad shape with people like her, Pelosi, etc.

Bris   June 19th, 2009 - 10:06 pm

Was she serious? I feel like they cut right before she said “just kidding.” I think the General knows what it means to work hard for a title.

Lee   June 19th, 2009 - 10:24 pm

Ma’am, you are shallow. All you politicians think we normal American’s are stupid. Listen to yourselves every time you open your mouth.

Dan   June 19th, 2009 - 11:54 pm

If only the General would have reenacted the scene from “A Few Good Men!” That would have been classic!

Mike   June 20th, 2009 - 1:04 am

The reason I don’t fear North Korea is because if they EVER have a missile that could hit the states it would hit california, and I know that he isn’t that crazy, that would take out a whole bunch of crazies that would support his cause. Come on cali, wake up and quit sending stupid peep like this to washington. The smart ones are the ones leaving that pitiful state.

JI Bishop   June 20th, 2009 - 1:36 am

Show her some respect? How about her showing this General some respect? “Ma’m” is the utmost respect a military man knows to show to a woman, just as “Sir” is to a man. Maybe she should go fight for our country and then she might have justification to open her trap and ask for some respect. We’ve got to do something with these big headed politicians, Senators and others. Time to deflate their big egos.

Tammy Cheng   June 20th, 2009 - 2:15 am

The soldiers who shed their bled to buy her freedom have to defer and grovel to this uppity feminist liberal. What’s wrong with this picture? How do we get this scum out of office?

PIERANGELO LLAMAS   June 20th, 2009 - 2:48 am

Just like any arrogant senators or congressman. Especially DEMOCRATS are likened to a pernicious Marxists that spread nefarious propaganda that infest the legislature. Those BLOOD SUCKING LEFT WING SOCIALIST CONNIVING FASCIST BASTARDS THAT THEY ARE. Like Herman Goering, Himmler, Goebbels, and Hitler. Hey Barb! Don’t forget your FASCIST FOUNDING FATHERS! YOU ARROGANT BITCH!

Gunny   June 20th, 2009 - 4:41 am

I think Glenn Beck said it best when he made the point that it doesnt take ‘hard work’ for a socialist to get elected in California. and she should think twice before disrespecting the General like that.

Kinda strange that so many on here can’t stand democrats but somehow they keep getting elected!

R   June 20th, 2009 - 1:32 pm

Who in the hell does she think she is? I’d have laid into her if I were that general, but what he did shows the kind of person he is. He didn’t tell her off (sadly), but rather acted like a gentleman and called that cu*t “senator”.

C.W. Brent   June 20th, 2009 - 3:08 pm

Having been a member of the U.S. Military, and knowing a little bit about the subject of showing respect(somethig that my grandmother taught me at an early age, and which was reinforced by my military training)I can tell you Senator that ALL persons in the Military are trained to address ALL civilians as SIR or MAM, as a sing of respect, wether they be the lowest, most down and out bum on the street, or even the PRESIDENT of this Nation, who is addressed as Sir. As to woerink hard to EARN that title, I would be willing to bet all the money I have that this General has been in service for at least 25 years, and has probably been in Combat at least 3 times during that service, What have you done in that time to earn your title, except lie, cheat and steal from your constituants, and the rest of the American people, Senator Boxer?

Disgusted with Butthole Boxer   June 20th, 2009 - 11:44 pm

The senator comments reek of a tone used on the returning soldiers from Vietnam that were spat upon as they came home. I’ll bet dollars on the Senator being there at that time. Her tone in her comments shows a complete lack of respect for anyone in the military.

Teddy   June 22nd, 2009 - 12:10 am

Shame on Barbara Boxer the no brainer of a senator. She should wash Brigrader General’s feet and drink that water for protecting her & all her siblings so that they can have a peacefull nite’s sleep. That slut of a women must have slept with 100’s to get to where she is. but the B. General has earned each & every star. So for crying out loud shut your F@*!!!!
trap and respect the man cause he along with his troops saved your sorry ass. Shame on you, NO FFFF@#%!!! Brains.

Eileen   June 22nd, 2009 - 11:07 am

Barbara Boxer should be ashamed of her behavior. This General has worked hard for us. The military deseve respect. “The little people” of the nation work hard for every DIME that government wants to spend. The General has integrity. She has none. It’s as simple as that.

Bob   June 22nd, 2009 - 3:33 pm

general do you know how many times i got on my knees? I had to have throat reconstruction surgery

Ed   June 23rd, 2009 - 12:01 am

This woman is exactly why I plan on voting in the next 2 elections for whomever in not currently in office………..they “did” say they wanted change, we’ll let’s give them change! Couldn’t get any worse?

jkauf   June 23rd, 2009 - 4:30 pm

The Senator seems to forget that she was treated WITH respect and politeness. She has a problem and SHE REPRESENTS SOMEONE IN CONGRESS? whoa

BJ Bortz   June 23rd, 2009 - 6:30 pm

Yes, she should apologize. Military personnel are trained to use Ma’am when addressing a female. It is a sign of utmost respect. They speak it out of habit, so to require someone to stop using it, makes it difficult for the person who is addressing addressing another. Senator Boxer should not only apologize to him, but she should apologize to all military for belittling a leader in our military.
