Romanian Gypsies Forced From Belfast Homes After Streak of Racist Attacks

AP: Thugs used bricks and bottles to drive more than 100 Romanian Gypsies from their homes in a wave of attacks. On Wednesday, the victims were sheltering in a community center after a church plucked them off a Belfast street. The grim images from this week—families carrying possessions in bundled blankets, a mother clutching her 5-day-old baby—are more evidence of rising anti-immigrant sentiment across Europe, but also of a situation unique to Northern Ireland: new fault lines in its tragic history of ethnic divisions.

Looks like the kind of anti-immigration people Tom Tancredo would like… Scenes like this must give him goose bumbs…

“The Director of Field Operations of the Minutemen American Defense
organization who killed 8-year-old Brisenia Flores and her father Raul
Flores has also been charged with the stabbing death of Hector Lopez
Partida of Wenatchee, Washington in 1997.

Jason Eugene “Gunny” Bush was charged Friday in Chelan County Superior
Court with the murder of Hector Lopez Partida who was stabbed to death
on July 24, 1997, says Sgt. Cherie Smith of the Washington State Patrol Crime
Lab. According to a Wenatchee Police report filed with the charges, an
informant who knows Bush says that he heard him brag about killing a
“Mexican” behind a store by stomping on him, stabbing him and leaving
him to die. DNA evidence left at the murder scene has tied Bush to the crime.

The police report by Wenatchee Police Sgt. John Kruse also stated that the
Minutemen Jason E. Bush has had longstanding ties to Aryan Nations groups.
This ties are also true for the large majority of the members of the anti-immigrant
Minutemen vigilantes. “

This is a report from the BBC who is not famous for honesty in reporting. I had a friend vacationing in Greece a few months after Gypsies first began leaving Roumania. She said that bands of Gypsies spreading waves of anarchy and crime throughout Greece and neighboring countries. I suspect that there is a lot more to this story than the beeb is willing to share with us.

We were warned in France last summer to beware of gypsies because they prey upon tourists with their scams and thievery. We saw them in many towns and cities. I held my purse more tightly when they were around.

Kevin   June 17th, 2009 - 9:38 pm

Belfast is not in Belgium.

Whatwhatwhat   June 18th, 2009 - 9:29 pm

And I’m sure the French did the same when you came around Misty.
