America…who is this guy?

Gandhi's Fist   June 1st, 2009 - 8:05 pm

Mathews yet again displays his partisan hackitude as he revisits the role as Obama apologist. Even the White House press office wasn’t as shameless as this.

Listen, in what is clearly a economy in crisis, the idea of a president blowing a quarter million on a jaunt to NYC is outrageous any way you look at it. I’m sure the first lady would have taken a rain check.

If you really want to run the comparative numbers as Matthews does, setting the Obama spendathon against the Bush, then–by the looks of it–Obama is on track to outspend Dubbya, both in the economy and personally by and extraordinarily large margin.

MSNBC ought to dump this tingling hack, but then, they stand to get government kickbacks via GE, their parent company, so I doubt that will ever happen. A corrupt media for a corrupt government.

To correct Eileen. The question is not, who is this guy? It is–more accurately–who watches this guy?

Matt   June 1st, 2009 - 8:09 pm

Am I the only one that wants to kick in Chris Matthews teeth everytime he talks about Obama?

doogle   June 1st, 2009 - 8:16 pm

yo Chrissy…I’m sure your little hissy-fit will translate to a bump in ratings…NOT.

Radio Active News   June 1st, 2009 - 8:19 pm

So let me see if I get this straight? When you can’t actually defend Obama’s. You simply say, well Bush did it too! So my question then is, what was with all the “Change” rhetoric? Real “Change” would have had the president say to his wife: “Honey, I am putting the people first!” “We don’t need to use tax payer money to have a good time on a date!” Now that would have been real “Change!” That would have left the GOP with their mouths dropped open! But No. Yet again, Obama proves he is nothing more than a tax and spend political hack! Or worse, the third term of Bush. And the point here is. While president Obama is asking Americans to make sacrifices, he is using what little is left of the tax payers money to fly across the country to go on a date. No Shame! And Americans did not vote for that Chris Matthews! I want my vote back.

What do you expect from the chief apologist himself, Tingles Matthews?

grik   June 1st, 2009 - 8:23 pm

The GOP has been reduced to taking pot shots at a man taking his wife out on the town. Their putative leader (Steele) is laughing stock while the real force in thier organization (Limbaugh) is a reactionary loud mouth.

grik : So its ok to spend Millons of Our money so he and her can go to NY for a date, While I have to stay at home and not be able to take my wife out to Indiana (on my dime) to see her 84 Year old father ,what ever you dolt. Do you know how much money it takes in fuel, security, closing streets ,police, airtraffic control so HE can GO on A date ,That he could have done the same thing a few blocks down the street in DC.

Xixi   June 1st, 2009 - 8:56 pm

I wish someone would put Chrissy on The View with the rest of the hags.

Dave, Tn   June 1st, 2009 - 9:03 pm

I watched his p i s s y little show last night. The Chris Mathews Show with other assorted waste of space liberal yackers. They were all excited about “the trap” Obama set for the Republicans by nominating Sonia Sotomayor. Always fun to see Liberals tell off on themselves and admit they think Obama is a race baiting opportunist. Bahahahah I hope GE fails!!

Pencey   June 1st, 2009 - 9:26 pm

Man, it’s a good job for Mathews that he doesn’t work for me. A totally worthless human being.

Bush is known to be a highly inquisitive and avid reader, and since he’s married to a librarian even a gnat brained fool like Mathews should be able to figure it out.

During his time in office, and in order to expand his outlook Bush read hundreds of books in addition to his work related reading.

Here is a partial list from US News for 2006

Alexander II: The Last Great Tsar by Edvard Radzinsky

American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin (a biography of Robert Oppenheimer, an inventor of the atomic bomb)

Clemente: The Passion and Grace of Baseball’s Last Hero by David Maraniss (about the late all-star Pittsburgh Pirates right fielder)

Lincoln: A Life of Purpose and Power by Richard Carwardine

Lincoln’s Greatest Speech: The Second Inaugural by Ronald C. White Jr.

Mao: The Unknown Story by Jung Chang and Jon Halliday

Nine Parts of Desire: The Hidden World of Islamic Women by Geraldine Brooks

Polio: An American Story by David Oshinsky (discussing how polio affected the United States in the mid-20th century)

The Big Bam: The Life and Times of Babe Ruth by Leigh Montville

The Great Influenza: The Epic Story of the

Deadliest Plague in History by John M. Barry

Salt: A World History by Mark Kurlansky

The Stranger by Albert Camus

Here is the US News reference to the above list:

————————————————–

Obama on the other went up to New York to see a race oriented broadway play, complete with bizarre ritual and animal sacrifice. (Joe Turners Come and Gone)

Obama also had dinner at an environmentally friendly restaurant and he used 25,000 gallons of gasoline to have himself deliverd there.

————————————————-

So while Obama, the man with interests, was burning up gasoline by the tanker load and sitting through a race oriented broadway play (GD America anyone?) George W Bush, the boorish peasant, was sitting home with his beautiful librarian wife reading a book.

————————————————-
In my opinion, Chris Mathews mother made a very large mistake the day she changed her mind about visiting Dr George Tiller and investing 25 bucks in a toilet flushing lesson for her little tingling leg bundle.

Charlie Brown   June 1st, 2009 - 9:28 pm

Pretty ditzy. Thank goodness nobody watches that guy except in clips to complain about his goofy rants.

Angry White Male   June 1st, 2009 - 9:32 pm

George Bush took only 900 days of vacation when he was president.Let,s see that is about 2.5 years.
He drove himself to and from Crawford Tx.He used no Secret Service,he protected himself.
He paid for the staff and all help at his ranch out of his own pocket.
Obama has a lot of nerve going out on the town even if he did pay for the meals and entertainment out of his own pocket. He did not need to be protected by the Secret Service, everyone loves him.No one would harm him.Just look at the comments posted here.

Mrs Pencey   June 1st, 2009 - 9:37 pm

Erratum above – please change last to:

a toilet flushing lesson for her smug little bundle with the tingling leg.

stacy   June 1st, 2009 - 10:08 pm

I love this clip because Michelle is so clearly hammered. Watch when she gets out of the plane. They are definitely members of the mile high club.

The date was a huge mistake. One of many to come. The joke is how OUT of step Obama is with Americans.

Chris Matthews   June 1st, 2009 - 10:25 pm

Man.
I wish I had ratings like Hannity.

I’m gonna go home, cry, and eat cold pop-tarts while I watch CSI Miami reruns.

Coco Lopez   June 1st, 2009 - 10:53 pm

Chris Matthews is a tool. That isn’t a tingle running up your leg Chris… that’s your hand going down the front of your pants. This guy uses the term “dream date” to describe the Obama’s going to NY for dinner and a show. That’s hardly a dream date, it’s pretty standard fare. I suppose this would be a dream date for Matthews who has shown time and again that he has much “man love” for the President. It’s alright if that’s your thing, but if I were Mrs. Matthews I might be a wee bit concerned.

Clue in Chris… the economy is in the toilet. It was the eve of the GM bankruptcy. I am somehow certain that Obama said, “It’s this weekend or never, baby… GM is going belly up on Monday.” It’s callous you simpleton… get it? Good.

Fo' Skin   June 1st, 2009 - 11:29 pm

Yes, I’m sure he would have defended Bush doing the same thing…

Tank   June 1st, 2009 - 11:32 pm

Chrissy matthews is jealous of michelle because she’s the one who gets to feel obamas tingle and not him.

Steve   June 2nd, 2009 - 1:33 am

Chrissy Matthews would rather feel that tingle
some where other than up his leg.

Azul Del Fuego   June 2nd, 2009 - 8:39 am

Democrat = pop politics. Conservatives never fawn over anyone – even people in their own political party – unlike the democrats. There is a basic level of immaturity that exists in the typical liberal/democrat where they need this “daddy” figure to love and adore. “Daddy” can do no wrong – even spending $250,000 on what they term a “dream date”. I thought the term “dream date” was a phrase used in the teen magazines of the 1970’s when decsribing a date with David Cassidy or Bobby Sherman.
Chrissy Mathews and Olbermann both show this level of immaturity when they act like tenn girls. Hannah Montanna for President, eh Crissy?

vinc   June 2nd, 2009 - 9:23 am

three things:

First, President Bush flew to Crawford, Texas because his home was there, not just to have a night on the town.

Second, President Bush never evicertated corporate leaders for using private jets at taxpayer expense and then flew his wife to NY for dinner and a play at taxpayer expence.

Third, Chris Matthews should know all about piss ants since he is one.

todd   June 2nd, 2009 - 10:03 am

if anyone looks in the dictionary
under idiot & tingle you will
see Chris Mathews

Oh Grover   June 2nd, 2009 - 10:08 am

Americans need to sacrifice so Obama can spend our money of 1/4 million dollars for a date

American Liberal   June 2nd, 2009 - 12:55 pm

I wish they had a 50’s channel on television. With nothing but old 50’s shows and movies from the late 30’s, the 40’s and 50’s. For me that would be good.

Dave in Philly   June 2nd, 2009 - 9:38 pm

I’ll go slow since liberals are so thickheaded.

Bush was flying to his HOME. Reagan was flying to his HOME. They also WORK there being the President. Obama was doing none of this with his night on the town. IT IS NOT THE SAME. Democrats need to stop with the moral equivalence because they look so silly when they do it.

Laffing at Leftists   June 4th, 2009 - 6:30 am

American Liberal, I wish they had a 50’s channel on television. With nothing but old 50’s shows and movies from the late 30’s, the 40’s and 50’s. For me that would be good.

I actually agree with you on that one.

Where’s the birth certificate, mary fat ask Obama about it, ok, thanks……
