MSNBC’s Chris Matthews Cross Examines Sen. Roland Burris on ‘Hardball’

"So your legal and political defense is that you weren't telling the truth to the governor's brother when you promised to hold a fund-raiser for him?"

Here’s an example of Ms. Sotomayor’s sentiments:

“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion [as a judge] than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”

TDC comment: This statement above is categorically the epitome of racism. Why is Ms. Sotomayor stereotyping and assuming that white male judges can not render fair and just judgments and that the cases presented before a supreme court justice will inevitably involve experiences solely reserved for a Latina woman? The nomination of a United States supreme court justice should involve an individual’s qualifications and character, not ethnic background or other divisive considerations.

That’s all they have on this guy? Sounds to me like he knew where the line was and had good enough sense not to cross it. He argued his case well against this puke propagandist from the General Evil Corporation. Someone should ask him how it feels to be a Republican.

Is it just me, or was it clear from Burris’ tone of voice in his taped and played conversation clips with Blado’s brother that Burris was saying “would love to help you, but can’t” and otherwise just saying the kinds of things we all say to people calling asking for money to get them off the phone, while insisting we support the organization but knowing full well we just want to get that other person off the phone politely? Put another way, do you agree with me that Matthews was a major asshole in his interview of Burris (as I think)? I am rooting for Burris, and think the guy is an underdog who didn’t even have any money to donate to Blado. Watch the whole clip – it’s Chris abusing his guest, rather than interviewing his guest. Why did he beat him up like this?

I’d much rather watch Rachel’s interviews than any of your other commentators.

Why did he beat him up like this?
Herronisland May 27th, 2009 – 8:26 pm

Because Burris doesn’t have the support back home to hold onto the seat. It’s not like the democrat party suddenly got a conscious.

Hey Brietbart – if you ever come around these parts to see this —- put a thumbs up/down by the posts so we can bury off-topic posts and BSers.

Azul Del Fuego   May 27th, 2009 - 11:22 pm

This means nothing. Chrissy is just trying to build some “cred” so that when we point out his conservative bias, he can point to this and say “no, I beat up on democrats, too”. Burris has no national power and probably isn’t even liked back in Illnois. He’s just a sacrificial lamb. Chrissy has no problem trashing anyone who could harm his “master” and feels equally comfortable s-ucking off his comrades.

Sicario   May 28th, 2009 - 12:15 am

Burris is sure one whinny little B A S T A R D isn’t he. Just another scumbag chicago political flunky who doesn’t have any clout. Love to watch him squirm.

Does Chris Matthews still feel thrills up his legs after his hero has ransacked the future generation to the tune of 1.4 trillion dollars?

TruthTeller   May 28th, 2009 - 5:06 am

Matthews doing this would altually be funny if it wasn’t so sad and sick…

This morning, Chrissy “Thrill Leg” Matthews woke up and decided to pretend he’s a journalist instead of a jaded shill for Obama and the Democrats. Maybe when he got his puckered-lips up close, he didn’t like the look of Burris’ rear end?

Say- is there anyone in, or from Chicago Politics who’s not corrupt, dishonest, on the take or a stinking liar?

During the months-long run-up to the election, Matthews never asked ONE SINGLE probative question of Obama or anyone asociated with the Obama campaign. He’s a washed up phony.

I am talking Nation wide not just congress .

In my many years I have come to a conclusion that one useless man is a shame, two is a law firm, and three or more is a congress.
