Obama Reverses Position: White House Will Oppose Release of Detainee Photos

The Washington Times: President Obama has reversed course and decided to fight the release of more photos showing apparent abuses of suspected terrorist detainees, a move driven by the president's newfound belief that their release would hurt the military.

Well, on this front, the Obama administration is beginning to look even more closed than the Bush’s was.

Can’t wait to see a screeching libtard screaming, “War Criminal!” at him in a few years.

Well…well…well…America…what do you know…we thought only Slick Willie governed by the polls…but it looks like Bilderberg Bush-Obama is living by them!

Or is it that he realizes that releasing the photos will enhance the oppositions defense of their position?

Probably a little of both!

This has to do with Muslim terrorists and I recently was sent a YouTube video on Islamic immigration in the world that I would advise you view.

It is eye opening and you must view it to understand where we are today.

Just this last week there were riots in Cologne Germany against one of the largest Islamic mosques being built in that mostly Catholic city.

In Belgium there are so many Muslims that they have their own communities and the police and Belgium people are even afraid to enter in.

In England there are so many that England has granted them the right to practice a form of their Sharia Law in their land negating English law. Sharia Law is the law that treats women lower than their dogs.

Just recently when the US President BOWED DEEPLY before his King Abdullah in Saudi Arabia (the home of Sharia Law) it was noted that just a week before that bow…King Abdullah sentenced a 75 yr old woman to 40 lashes for having her nephew in her home…he had brought her some bread to eat.

I believe that the new President is indeed a Muslim. Recently he put out an order within the White House to hire more Muslims in the White House.

Perhaps, after viewing this video you may come to the same conclusion as I did about why he is so for abortion for all of us non-Muslims.

In addition, he is giving millions of our taxpayer dollars today to help the immigration of thousands of Hamas sympathizers from Gaza to be relocated to our shores.

He may even let the “combatants” from Gittmo relocate here in the United States.

Please view the video and see what you can do!

Mr. Obama consulted his top generals and they advised him to not release the photos since they would reveal nothing that was not already known and may inflame anti-American incidents causing increased casualties for our troops. The President decided to follow their advice and try to suppress the release of the new photos.

How is this not a good thing? What this shows is that Obama is willing to listen to his experts/advisers and take that into account BEFORE he makes a decision. He did not do this to satisfy some “poll” (which poll was that?). Contrast this with the previous administration that would only follow recommendations if they agreed with them!

By the way, the alternative would have been to release these pictures. What would your response(s) have been then? It seems that, to some of you, this man can simply do nothing right…even if he does.

Code Pink   May 14th, 2009 - 8:59 am

Yet another Bush policy which Obama campaigned furiously against–but then as president, Obama modified slightly, renamed, and then embraced.

Rendition, enemy combatants, state secrets, military tribunals, detainee abuse.

And the media keep praising this sell-out hypocrite.

“since they would reveal nothing that was not already known and may inflame anti-American incidents causing increased casualties for our troops.”
Airhead,
Nice try at logic.(As if any libturd uses logic) If your flimsy premise is correct about increased casualties for our troops, why then did The Mulatto Messiah release the so called torture memos? I’m sure you’ll compound your original twisted logic with some perverse reason to answer this. Spare me, and all people with a brain, a response trying to draw a distinction between the two.

Hickok   May 14th, 2009 - 9:17 am

B. Hussein reversed another position just this morning….
In a press release he went on to say..
“I am not really an African American. I just used that tag to get the Black vote, and give all you libturds a reason to ameliorate your white guilt. I really am a Mulatto, but for P.C. reasons, henceforth, I shall prefer to be referred to as a Halfrican American.”( Until my final polling on the topic is completed, that is)

Bill Airs   May 14th, 2009 - 9:48 am

The simple facts.

The second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the ACLU last year, ordering the requested photos to be released. The Defense Department did not appeal, feeling that they could not win on appeal. The ACLU filed the original lawsuit in 2004 after the Bush administration refused to comply with an open records request.
Same thing with the torture memos. They were released due to an open records lawsuit also filed against the Bush administration, resulting in the Obama administration not appealing and releasing the documents to the ACLU.
Barack Hussein Obama instructed his administration lawyers to challenge the release of the photos based on national security implications.

He’s kicking the decision back into court, where his administration still may be forced into releasing the photos.
On Capitol Hill, Republicans welcomed the change, however. Military groups also say they were relieved
Some on the left called the decision a blow to transparency and accountability.

When you have some on far left and some on the far right complaining and those in the center thinking a decision is the right thing to do.I think that is good thing. You have to govern from the center. That is why the Republicans will be out of power until they take the party back from the far right.

Airwick   May 14th, 2009 - 9:52 am

Hickok,
Actually there are major differences between the pictures and the torture memos, if you care to examine the two. The torture memos were released in part as an attempt to assure the World that we are serious about examining our activities in interrogation techniques to avoid a repetition. Those who were tortured were known terrorist leaders and everyone knows this. The photos, on the other hand, are of unknown Muslim men who are being abused by their captors (us) and may or may not be guilty of anything other than being Muslim and/or Arab. What made Abu Ghraib such a celebrated mess was that many of the prisoners there did not even belong there—they were wrongly accused or simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. That however did not stop a bunch of thugs from using their positions of authority to abuse them. It is the injustice of those events as illustrated by the now famous photos that caused the resulting uproar.

Historically pictures have resulted in a more visceral response than text (a picture is “worth a thousand words”). That is why releasing details of interrogation abuse of known enemy leaders does not carry the weight as does the publishing of photos of anonymous Muslims being abused. People can more easily identify themselves with the photos than the memos.

The next time that you take out your brain and play with it, try to think logically.

Airwick   May 14th, 2009 - 10:20 am

Bill,
“When you have some on far left and some on the far right complaining and those in the center thinking a decision is the right thing to do.I think that is good thing. You have to govern from the center. That is why the Republicans will be out of power until they take the party back from the far righ”.

Well said. The GOP is lost if they continue to go further to the right in an attempt to shore up their “base”. They should form their base more to the center. The Far Right has no place else to go unless they want to create their own party. The choice between a liberal Democrat and a moderate Republican is still significant. A party that continues to disrespect and lose people like Specter and Powell will continue to lose.

kmichaels   May 14th, 2009 - 11:14 am

This story really brings out the pathetic nature of leftist politicians like Obama.

Obama is all about image and political power.

Obama said he released the CIA memos because he had to. Because of ACLU suits. But now he is saying that he can shut down ACLU suits by being more agressive in court.

Darn, I guess he just discovered that he can be agressive in court when he wants to but he just did not want to with the CIA memos.

Obama is as phony as a three dollar confederate bill.

Obama does what is good for Obama, end of story. The empty suit hopey dopey has no morals. He simply is an attention w-hore and a corrupt Chicago thug.

The same with leftists under Bush. They were more than willing to show Abu Ghraib and it had nothing to do with their concern for their nation or for the Iraqis. It was their concern for power.

For leftists, it is all about control. They want to control every aspect of your life and there is no denying it.

They think they have power over life and death, letting innocent babies be murdered and letting serial killers live.

They think they control what humans do with the environment.

They think they control how much a person should be paid and how much they should make, and not a penny more or a penny less.

They want to control banks, auto companies, the radio, free speech, religion (what it can and cannot say and where).

It is all about control to the evil leftist crowd. And we have plenty of useful idiots on this very board that give them their approval.

kmichaels   May 14th, 2009 - 11:38 am

I have to say this about Airwick. And I mean it. He is most definitely one of those useful idiots, in that he approves of those things that are worse for America and will weaken it, but at least he does not seem to have the useless troll nature that others like mark, Dr Gay Pat, Larse and others have. He seems sincere and he does not post the standard attack and run away approach that the others do. Of course he is dead wrong on pretty much every issue, but at least has a little class in his approach. For a deluded leftist and useful idiot, he does attempt to be civil and explain his view.

Now, as an example of his being wrong, he claims that the Reps would make a mistake by being more right. However, simple history proves that when Reps stick with their conservative views the hardest, they get the best support from the voters. This is simply the facts.

When the Reps move moderate, like with Bush and with McCain, we do the very worst.

And as a party, why in h-ell would it make sense to take advice from the useful idiot crowd? They are fools. Their advice sucks. Their logic is arse backwards. So thanks, but no thanks.

kmichaels   May 14th, 2009 - 11:51 am

Here is what God says about governing from the center. “I would that you be either hot or cold, but if you are lukewarm you are good for nothing, except to be spewed out of my mouth.”

In other words, being lukewarm, governing from the mythical center, is worth as much as spit.

Nobody honestly governs from the middle and makes anything better. The river continues flowing.

Of course nobody can truthfully claim that Obama governs from the middle, and you dont see the idiot leftists that claim that we need governing from the middle pointing out that their hopey dopey is indeed FAR FAR FAR LEFT. So leftists dont really want governing from the middle. They want control, pure and simple and they will sell their souls to get it.

kmichaels   May 14th, 2009 - 12:03 pm

Bill Airs was just last week praising Obama for wanting to release the pictures. Today he is praising Obama for not wanting to release the pictures. When Obama changes his mind, useful idiots change theirs. Funny how that works.

When Bush wanted to give out more social money, I said please dont. It is not the role of government.

When Bush wanted to finish the war in Iraq, I said good job, that is correct.

My mind is made up based on right and wrong.

Useful idiots minds are made up by whatever der falz messiah happens to say today.

Hickok   May 14th, 2009 - 12:18 pm

Airhead,
Neither should be released, is the main f*cking point. The Mulatto Messiah is playing to his loony left base, and that’s all. Spare me his, “We will do things properly and ensure that we conduct ourselves apprpriately within the parameters of American decency.”
This guy is about as decent as Bill Clinton. 20 years with Reverend Wright, a home partially financed by Tony Rezko, a major association with Bill Ayres(That’s correct libturds, they were way more than “casual” acquaintances)and now he speaks of decency.
I’ve got to get my barf bag out thinking of how you whack jobs perceive him.

Hickok   May 14th, 2009 - 12:21 pm

Breitbart,
Either have less random “Awaiting Moderation” policy, or GFY.
A$$wipes.

Airwick   May 14th, 2009 - 12:24 pm

kmichaels,
Thanks for the kind words (except for the “useful idiot” part).

I will restate my position again. The party with the biggest tent wins elections. Most of the electorate is moderate in every aspect. They turned against the more conservative positions of the GOP in the last election after a combination of foreign policy and economic problems doomed a continuation of Republican control. It seems that the GOP’s best strategy now should be to offer some sort of agenda that is to the right of the Democrats by not TOO far to the right. The Democrats will probably overplay their hand (as the Republicans did) and will be vulnerable in upcoming elections unless their opposition is perceived as being too extreme on the other side.

You say that “when Reps move moderate, like with Bush and McCain, we do the very worst”. I would remind you that the GOP WON TWICE under Mr. Bush and did quite well under Mr. McCain. I still contend that his choice of Palin doomed the ticket. She was just not ready yet and it showed. I know a lot of Pro-Life Catholics who laughed at her and refused to support the ticket as a result. If you can’t even get them, you are not going to win. Mitt would have been a far better choice given the economic situation that we are presently experiencing. Presently the American public thinks that we are “going in the right direction”. That does not bode well for the Republicans. The GOP will be the minority party as long as it does not come up with a fresh approach. Just saying, “no”, is not enough; you have to have a viable alternative plan.

Airwick   May 14th, 2009 - 12:34 pm

Hey, BB, I disagree with pretty much everything Hickok has to say, but WHAT’S WITH THE CENSORSHIP? Remove that “foul language” caveat while you are at it and let people have their say. Many of the comments that you are blocking have no obscenities in them. I should know…I have written a few myself. Why do I have to spell an@lyze with a “@” instead of a second “a”?

If you want people to use your site, then LIGHTEN UP! There is nothing worse than spending a lot of time on a comment only to find the dreaded, “Comment awaiting moderation”, note attached!

kmichaels   May 14th, 2009 - 12:39 pm

Airwick, I understood your view. I just find it to be wrong. It is obvious that whoever gets the most votes wins the election. You put it as different ways. You say now the biggest tent. You said earlier more towards the middle. I am simply stating the fact that when we move towards the middle we get less votes. That is pure history and pure fact.

As to winning twice under Bush, I would remind you that his strength was when he did things towards the right and his weakness was when he spent more money. The valid complaint against Bush now is not about the war but about his high spending (more leftist) So I understand that you want to be simplistic and think there was just one issue with Bush, but there were multiple.

Bush got his best overall support when he was conservative and lost his power when he did leftist things.

Again, using facts, Palin energized McCain plain and simple. McCain lost because he had a moderate message. Palin was his only saving grace, and even then he muzzled her.

And finally, why would we want to be more leftist when we despise everything the leftists stand for.

Are you aware of the fact that for true conservatives it is not about winning elections, it is about standing for truth and liberty?

I understand that leftists would sell their souls for power, and that is find. That ends up with a bunch of unhappy soulless leftists running around. Fine, if they want to be stupid so be it.

But conservatives build their house upon the rock. We have a solid foundation. Elections come and go and while leftist communties fail left and right conservatives continue to do well. We help those that help themselves and we will survive as individuals.

Leftists continue to die from their perversions, from their evil choices, from their depressed existence. They get what they deserve from their own poor choices.

Useful idiots that sell their votes for the promise of somebody elses money continue to be poor and will be forever until they change their foundation to something solid.

We teach how to fish, our tent for those willing to work and learn how to fish is open to one and all.

Your tent is to hand out fishes in exchange for more votes. No thanks. That is the path of idiots and fools and blind people. You won an elections and your followers are pit bound with a moronic grin on their faces. Their lives are not improved. But hey, you won an election. God, what a laugh.

kmichaels   May 14th, 2009 - 12:48 pm

One more thing for Airwick, Hitler won the popular vote. Rah, we won an election. All our lives are improved. Leftists simply have not logic in them. They think it is about winning. Conservatives understand that it is about being on a more solid foundation of principals.

Here are some solid principals.

1) Free and fair trade.
2) Free capitalism with minimal government.
3) Self responsibility.
4) Flat tax rates.
5) An end to social handouts by the government.
6) More charity given willingly by all.
7) Help your neighbors by choice.
8) Treat everyone equally.
9) Determine right from wrong and stick to your principals.
10) Learn to govern yourself responsibly.
11) A strong national defense.
12) Dont do things based on popularity.
13) Dont show weakness to our enemies.
14) Dont redistribute wealth.
15) Encourage education.
16) Dont abuse the poor for the sake of votes.
17) Dont hand out fishes, teach how to fish.
18) Respect human life and punish only the guilty.

kmichaels   May 14th, 2009 - 1:00 pm

One more thing for Airwick. If you truly like governance from the center, why in h-ell do you support the radical extremist leftist Obama thuggery? Methinks you have no real ethics at all. Most likely just another sign that you are either misinformed or self deluded.

dr jay   May 14th, 2009 - 1:07 pm

anyone on the right knows this was the correct decision but what i am concerned about is the motives. there is a major power struggle ongoing between obama/rahm emmanuel and pelosi. a lot of what is going on has more to do with issues related to politics than whether it is right or wrong. pelosi was baited by the admin and fell in to a trap.

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   May 14th, 2009 - 1:14 pm

Dear, dear larse…you are wrong and missed the premise of the video!

It is much too late to try and catch up by procreating…but something can be done!

First of all the video stated that we do need to be strong in the determination of our “faith” as the Muslims are in theirs.

Secondly, immigration is also a key.

If you noticed in the video, dear larse, most of the growth in Canada is through “immigration” into Canada and that is becoming the case here in America.

We can do something…we can limit the immigration into our country and limit the amount of Muslims entering to eliminate the overtaking of our country by Muslims.

Now do you get it…dear larse?

Your comments were cute…but only that!

Airwick   May 14th, 2009 - 1:34 pm

kmichaels,
I agree with you that you should stand upon your principles. However, if you are perceived as being uncompromising and a zealot, you will not win elections. If you do not win, you cannot implement policy. Your points are well taken. However, I would not necessarily “free” capitalism. One of the lessons we should remember in this economic mess is that some sort of control and regulation is necessary to keep unscrupulous people in check. Also, I would drop the ant-abortion position as a platform. No one is going to overturn Roe and the majority of Americans oppose doing so. It is futile to keep pressing this issue.

Also Hitler never won an election. He was appointed to be Chancellor by von Hindenburg (the president) in 1933. His opponents thought that they could control him but once he got in, it was a just a matter of time before he seized power from within.

kmichaels   May 14th, 2009 - 1:35 pm

Airwick,
“I agree with you that you should stand upon your principles. However, if you are perceived as being uncompromising and a zealot, you will not win elections. If you do not win, you cannot implement policy.”

Here is your big flaw, Airwick, you assume that one has to compromise to win. We Republicans tend to win best when we dont compromise. As it turns out, most Americans would rather not compromise. Most Americans stand for what is right.

The problem in voting comes for a variety of reasons.

1) Uneducated voters.
2) Self deluded voters.
3) Deceived voters.

If not for these three major problems Republicans would win each and every election.

Obama one based on his ability to smoothly deceive the public coupled with the support of the MSM to smoothly deceive the public.

Blacks vote for Democrats because, for the most part being poor and uneducated, are locked into a pattern of falling for the deceit of a nanny government being able to cure their ills.

With education, blacks and poor of all colors get out of their poorness rut and easily succeed. Those that do tend to succeed end up voting for solid Republican principals. Not always but the odds improve.

Hitler won the popularity vote, is what I stated. I know that he was appointed the first time around. However, once in power, his popularity ratings were through the roof. One need only compare videos of Obama worshipping crowds and Hitler worshipping crowds. Blind accolades, for both. And both leading people to fall into the pits.

As to your zealot claim, and the claim of leftists in the MSM of us being zealots, that is simply the Alinsky attack mode of ridiculing your opposition. If anything, the left has far more zealots than any party does.

Our goal is not to move to the center. Our goal is to educate, inform, and help true Americans understand what is truly at stake.

While you continue to worship Obama blindly, as he leads you into the pit, I will continue to stand on solid ground. I dont fear Obama because I am independently capable of taking care of myself.

I fear for America when they become the blind leading the blind, which is our current state.

As the saying goes, when the wicked rule only the righteous mourn.

As Christianity teaches, even the very elect are capable of being deceived.

kmichaels   May 14th, 2009 - 1:45 pm

Airwick, not that I am so prone to worry as Eileen does about Muslim immigration, if you check the history of UK the Muslim population there was substantially smaller not that long ago, closer to our current status. The number now is quite a bit larger of a percentage. That is even more the case in other European countries.

My thoughts on Muslim immigration is that they, in their current nations, need to prove worthy of respect for human rights before we attempt to import more of them here. Otherwise we play a bad game of odds.

Airwick   May 14th, 2009 - 1:53 pm

Eileen,
You can not be serious. Do you really think that we are in danger of being taken over by Muslims via immigration?

Here is some data to consider:

• There are over 225 million Christians in the US (a little over 75% of the population).

• There are less than 2 million Muslims (one half of one percent).

• JEWS outnumber Muslims by more than two to one.

• Most of the immigrants to this country are Hispanic Catholics.

How are the Muslims going to “overtake” our country?

kmichaels   May 14th, 2009 - 1:53 pm

Matt. 24:24
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Obama:

“My job is to be so persuasive that if there’s anybody left out there who is still not sure whether they will vote, or is still not clear who they will vote for, that a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany … and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Obama”

kmichaels   May 14th, 2009 - 1:59 pm

Obama so far on track to have 400 percent larger deficit than Bush in 2008. So, do leftists still claim that deficit is bad or does their silence on this issue imply that they have become converted to the idea that deficit spending is the only way to go, rah rah, Obama he da man, kind of attitude? Chrissy Matthews, what do you say, tingly girl? Obama deficit spending 400 percent higher than Bush good?

Polls show that Obama polices and actions are disliked by 66 percent of the voters but Obama as a leader has 64% support.

Sounds like the journalists have failed to do their job. Notice, Chrissy, I dont mean you, tingly legged school girl that you are.

kmichaels   May 14th, 2009 - 2:02 pm

Airwick

“Another thing to consider is that the overwhelming majority of Muslims are NOT the Taliban/al Qaeda type. On the contrary, most Muslims want nothing to do with them.”

I would agree with you except for this one key fact. The majority of Muslims lack the history of vocally and openly condemning Al Qaeda and the Taliban.

Like I said, they have to prove their worthiness and until they do they are a bad risk.

As a group, they have failed to pass the test so far. If they dont stand up openly for the right rights, and condemn the evil deeds of the few, then they have to go back and try again until the get it right.

Hickok   May 14th, 2009 - 2:03 pm

Airhead,
It’s still 999,999 too many.

kmichaels   May 14th, 2009 - 2:03 pm

Here is a simple truth.

The right is right and the left is what is left.

Airwick   May 14th, 2009 - 2:08 pm

kmichaels,
Another thing to consider is that the overwhelming majority of Muslims are NOT the Taliban/al Qaeda type. On the contrary, most Muslims want nothing to do with them. There is ample evidence of this throughout the Islamic World. As I noted earlier, al Qaeda’s greatest enemy is al Qaeda. Most people do not want to live under such harsh conditions and will reject them eventually.

Airhole,
Congratulations on posting the biggest piece of cr*p on Breitbart in the last 6 months. Arguing against you is akin to shooting ducks in a barrel. To spell that out for your pathetic brain, it’s that you can’t miss.

Bill Airs   May 14th, 2009 - 3:44 pm

kmichaels, Man you are as crazy as Eileen.
It would behoove you to listen to Airwick. As long as the far right rules the Republican party, they will not win elections.Since you claim to remember what I said, remember I also told you that you had a serious problem.Going back and forth with people 24/7 with all this name calling and negativity is not good for you.Why don,t you go outside and get some fresh air and sunshine. If you are home bound rent some movies or read a book.John McCain,s Faith Of Our Fathers is a good read.I don,t think you are a bad person, just misguided. That is all I have to say.I don,t even bother to read Eileen’s post and now I wont be reading any of yours either.I am gone.

Airwick   May 14th, 2009 - 4:15 pm

Hickok,
Just don’t go out shooting with that Dick, Cheney! We wouldn’t want to lose you.

And what exactly are you aiming at anyway? THAT was the “biggest piece of cr*p on Breitbart in the last 6 months”?

Have you read Eileen’s latest?

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   May 14th, 2009 - 5:42 pm

Dear Airwick…did you view the video to get the facts on Muslim immigration?

If you want to know the numbers, check out the video in my earlier post!

grik   May 14th, 2009 - 6:13 pm

These pictures need to be released and the sooner the better. Nothing was ever solved sweeping the problem under a rug.

The easy way is to shove it away and ignore the evils done in America’s name.

I hope the Obama adminstration looses in court.

kmichaels   May 14th, 2009 - 6:35 pm

Sweeping national security secrets under the rug is a bad thing, grik? God, you really are a dumbarse.

Dr. Dick Zucker   May 15th, 2009 - 1:04 am

“I hope the Obama adminstration looses(sic) in court.”
The only thing loose Grikfag, is your hemmorhoids from taking it up the arse.
