Sorry, but where does “single mom” fit in this story. I am just sick of hearing about single moms and what “heroes” they are, unless they are widows NO special status or benefits should go to them. I know that my rant has nothing to do with the story but neither did shoehorning “single mom” into it either.

It’s nothing more than Fiscal conservatism in a Right Wing Red State! Hey! I know,……why not lobby Billo the clown for a donation to help the rape victims?

Far Right Wing Conservatives are a cancer in this country that has destroyed the GOP! They must, and WILL be eradicated in due time.

What is really odd here is not that the mistake happened, but the completely ignorant, finger pointing, and purely bureaucratic response form the Texas AG that is responsible for the administration of the victim’s assistance fund…

“Attorney General’s (Greg Abbott – Republican) spokesman Jerry Strickland said the crime victim fund is enforcing strict guidelines imposed by the legislature as to which bills are paid and which victims are sent a denial notice.

Otherwise, he said that fund could become “insolvent.”"

“In September 2006, the balance was $67,058,646 and one year later, the balance was $57,669,432.

In 2008, that figure was up again to $66,572,261 that was left unspent in the fund.”

“Otherwise, he said that fund could become “insolvent.”

He said state law is clear that crime victims must exhaust all other potential funding sources, such as local police or their own health insurance.

“The legislature set it up that way,” said Strickland.”

I wonder what decisive action Abbott will take to eliminate this problem his staff apparently caused. Or, maybe a liberal Democrat replacement will fix it ;)
