If you are willing to make the sacrifice for your children, HOMESCHOOL. My kids will graduate high school not only with a diploma a year early but with their associates degree. And they have had a blast being home schooled. Not everyone can, but we are a one income family with a modest income and a minimal amount of STUFF, but believe are kids are worth that small sacrifice. Peaceful, compassionate, motivated, focused, outgoing kids, Priceless.

Listen you DC parents…you are probably Democrat and voted for Saul Alinsky Obama because he was black like you.

But you didn’t consider one thing when you threw your vote away…he is a half black man who is also a multi-millionaire elitist who eats arugala(sp?) instead of head lettuce like we do.

This man doesn’t care about the poor people…he uses them by pretending to care about them. He doesn’t want his girls to go to school with inner city kids.

Next time…think before you vote!

JUST ANOTHER PATHETIC DAY IN THE ‘REIGN OF BARRY HUSSEIN’ AND HIS ELITIST ATTITUDE TOWARDS ANYONE LESS FORTUNATE THAN HIMSELF TO BE BORN HALF BLACK WITH A SECRETIVE PAST!

Barack Hussein Obama   May 6th, 2009 - 10:16 am

My kids gets to go to nice schools. I don’t cares about your kids. So shut yous mouths or I’ll come after you next.

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   May 6th, 2009 - 10:22 am

America…listen…if politicians really want to improve our educational system…let them use DC as a model.

Let them work on the DC schools first. Make all the changes that need to be made to improve the school system…from the top on down.

Than tweak it and improve it…and when it works…use it as the model for the rest of the country.

Education needs work in this country and it is a pity that this great nation has such poor schools.

You know why it won’t be done…politics and unions!

It is just not fair that these young people who want to succeed and learn…have to be thrown back to the wolves in the DC schools!

You DC parents keep fighting…we are doing the same in other arenas and we support you!

========================

JUST ANOTHER PATHETIC ‘REIGN OF BARRY HUSSEIN’…HE GOT HIS EDUCATION FREE…BUT HE DOESN’T WANT YOU TO HAVE THE SAME PRIVILEGE!

American Liberal   May 6th, 2009 - 10:35 am

I think the President is right on target. There is nothing wrong with public schools and all kids should go to them. In private schools they spend time learning Christians principals and junk like that. We don’t need that free thought. Public schools are turning out good Liberal thinkers and that is what this country needs. We need to save the Earth and things like that.

Move On   May 6th, 2009 - 10:36 am

Keith Olbermann should declare these people, who are obviously frauds funded by Right Wing hate groups, the worst Persons in the World.

Time to shut down the hateful Republican obstruction! This is just a distraction concocted by Rush Limbaugh.

Airwick   May 6th, 2009 - 11:13 am

A large portion of our taxes go to education (about 50% in my state). That is why we have public schools. If you don’t want your kid to go to a public school then do what “if” did…home school them. If you don’t have the background to home school and you don’t like the public schools in your area, then you have two choices–you can move to an area where you DO like the schools or you can find a private school and PAY FOR IT YOURSELF. That is YOUR choice, not mine. I already paid my taxes for education.

I don’t have kids going to school; if you get a voucher, then I want a refund!

LK   May 6th, 2009 - 11:35 am

The ONLY children Obama cares about and wants to succeed are his OWN!!

WAKE UP PEOPLE – HE ONLY CARES ABOUT YOU ON ELECTION DAY!!!!!!!!!!

LiberalsAreParasites   May 6th, 2009 - 12:02 pm

Isn’t if funny how airhead has a problem with paying taxes now.

Dr.M.L.Kingfish   May 6th, 2009 - 12:13 pm

dr jay   May 6th, 2009 - 12:45 pm

thanks for your votes teachers union(the most useless group of trash on the planet)

Airwick   May 6th, 2009 - 1:56 pm

LiberalsAreParasites,
I have no problem paying my fair share of taxes.

But I am not going to pay EXTRA to make up for your deductions because you don’t want to send your kids to a public school. If you want to send your children to a private school then YOU pay for it!

And, if you had bothered to read previous comments on the subject, you would have noted that I think that the entire tax system should be scrapped and that we should go to a flat tax.

Kelli   May 6th, 2009 - 2:43 pm

I’m a homeschooler, but I recognize that not everyone has the luxury. Some single parents just cannot work and teach their kids. Homeschooling is a huge commitment and usually involves a great deal of time driving kids to group classes or private lessons. You can’t do that when you spend 8-10 hours a day at work and up to two hours (in our area) on the road.

Most of us can’t move for better school options. Better neighborhoods cost more to live in. We aren’t all rich. It is unrealistic to expect people to make such drastic changes just so their kids can get what our government has promised them already.

The option to send a child to a good school is a very reasonable thing to ask for.

Other   May 6th, 2009 - 3:31 pm

Its now clear that charters are more learning effective and cost effective than Union-run public schools.

And that is a great threat to union teacher jobs. Not a threat to students….but at threat to Unions!

The main reason that that Congress is killing the successful, and cost efficient, charter program is because the Teachers unions have the members strung up like puppets.

Other   May 6th, 2009 - 3:37 pm

“Airwick May 6th, 2009 – 1:56 pm

But I am not going to pay EXTRA”

You dont. Charters just get a portion of the per-pupil cost forwarded to them In many cases its less than what the public school gets. So, in essence, the public school is wasting money by getting money to teach a student they no longer have.

Airwick   May 6th, 2009 - 4:19 pm

Other,
I think that we can agree on one thing. The public schools are not giving us our money’s worth and should be required to do so. If moneys are distributed per capita then I have no problem with giving some to charter schools but I do not like the idea of giving families tax breaks for sending their kids to private schools. It looks like there are several issues here to consider.

i specifically moved to a town with excellent public schools but have 1 in a montessori school, 4 public. i have an issue with the decline in quality on a national level and the massive costs involved. the charter school issue was a slap in the face to a powerful and ingrained teachers union that sets policy on what is best for them and not necessarily the children. my mom was an elementary teacher for 40 years and feels very passionate about the decline of our public system.

fande3rls   May 6th, 2009 - 5:33 pm

Because it is not About EDUCATION IT IS INFACT ABOUT INDOCTRINATION . ie; PROGRESSIVISM ,liberalism ,marxism ,socialism STATISM .

dr jay   May 6th, 2009 - 7:03 pm

fande3rls,
i have run up against the occasional teacher that pushes the liberalism on the kids. i have instructed them when it was pressed to ask the teacher to discuss whether Jesus Christ is their lord and savior. the teachers have invariably stated that religious views are off limits and the kids have responded that so are the teachers political views.
i had one teacher last may that handed my fifth grader a printout on obama. the next day i had her hand it back ask ask where the handouts were on the other candidates. 2 days later i sent the teacher a letter stating that if she ever did anything of the sort again i would push for her being disciplined. i also sent her information on tony rezko and bill ayers, turnabout is fair play.

Hmm, last I checked it’s the Demoncats who are against “School-Voucher”, and I don’t know what the GOP stands on this one? And isn’t the so-called left wing hate groups such as NAACP, Black-Caucus, Hispanic-Caucus, La Raza (in ESP it means the “RACE” not a race), etc. who are also against school-vouchers? Last I checked, these left wing wackos send their children to great schools, etc. instead of sending their kids to struggling schools where those children need the help most!

Liberalism is a Mental Disorder!!!!!

Azul Del Fuego   May 7th, 2009 - 9:54 pm

’cause it’s all about “da kidz”. It’s all about “da babies”. Yeah right, Obama.
This isteacher’s union payback time. The only “kidz” Obama cares about are his little ones.
Airwick has no brain. I’m sure he voted democrat because we’ve got to punish all of the rich people and redistribute the wealth. But school vouchers are precisely for the poor family that have kids with great potential. Without it, they’ll languish in some sh_t-hole public school. With it, the parent can choose.
Arwick seem to think that because he paid his fair share, his hands are clean and he’s done his civis responsibility. In fact, he’s done just the opposite. He’s giving money to a complete broken and unmotivated system full of union members whose only consideration is towards their paycheck and their pension. Oh yeah, sure, there are a few good teachers and you could probably send me a dozen examples. But there are a lok of awful teachers as well. What if it was your bright kid that got one of those bad teachers, you were poor, and you had no recourse to improve things for your child.
Liberalism s_cks.
