Specter: Party Switch to Democrats for ‘10 Election Was ‘Painful Decision’

"Since my election in 1980, as part of the Reagan Big Tent, the Republican Party has moved far to the right. Last year, more than 200,000 Republicans in Pennsylvania changed their registration to become Democrats. I now find my political philosophy more in line with Democrats than Republicans."

America…

Good News…Arlen Spector is going where his heart is…to the Democratzi…good riddance!

Bad News…it gives the Democratzi more comrades in the Congress to take America down one big spending bill at a time.

At any rate, the people of his state are crazy to elect him whether a Democratzi or a Republican.

The fact is he cannot be trusted! He sways back and forth, back and forth!

In addition, he knows that he will never get re-elected by the Republicans for his turncoat stance and voting with the Democratzi in passing the biggest stimulus bill in the history of the nation.

Without his vote and the other Republican turncoats (Snowe and Collins of ME), we would have not had this big spending bill.

So good riddance…fella…not doing what is good for the Democratzi just trying to insure that you are re-elected again!

Do it Democratzi and prove what Republicans think of you!

===========================

JUST ANOTHER PATHETIC DAY IN THE “REIGN OF BARRY HUSSEIN” AND HIS DEMOCRATZI AND REPUBLICAN HENCHMEN IN THE CONGRESS TAKING AMERICA DOWN ONE BIG SPENDING BILL AT A TIME!

Monica   April 28th, 2009 - 12:34 pm

Not surprised… I wonder if he feels the tingle going up his leg yet. I’ll be contributing to whoever runs against him in 2010.

The Republican party that is around now is NOT the Republican party of old.

The problem is real Republicans who are more in line with Libertarian ideas and those like the “Barry Goldwater Republicans” have been overwhelmed by what is now called the “Neo Cons”.

Neo Cons are the problem in the Republican party. The simple fact that Neo Cons have such a problem with the separation of church and state should be glaringly obvious they are NOT true Republicans.

So to be short, if you registered Republicans want your party back, back to what it was meant to be like OUST the Neo Cons!

Conservatives Are Crazy!   April 28th, 2009 - 12:44 pm

Yep! You nutbags are dropping like flies! The registered Rethugs in this country are leaving the party in droves! Let’s see,….can you say “Filibuster Proof”? And soon FIX NOISE will have no more sheep that are of any relevance. Not that they do now or ever had! LOL!

LOSERS!!!!!

Arlen,

Life is too short to live it as a Republican.
Welcome aboard Mr. SIXTY.

I’ll bet Tom Delay, and Tony Perkins, and Cheney are breathing fire about now.

I am smirking like Bill Kristol on Ecstasy right now.
Buh hahahahaha!

The far right took over the Republican party, not a good thing.Only 21% indentify as being Republican. The lowest number in 25 years

The base refuses to allow the party to progress or adapt. Indeed, while the GOP would presumably be looking for new ways to expand its numbers, Republicans are apparently intent on doing the opposite.

If they continue to loss constituents, they very well may go the way of Whig Party.
Republicans can only save themselves by taking their party back from the far right and find someone else to head the party except Boss Limbaugh

Neal E   April 28th, 2009 - 12:54 pm

He had to. He was going to lose his party’s nomination in 2010. Tooley is mounting a great primary challenge.

Judged by his voting record, this is just a formality anyway. He already said he supports Obamas universal health plan and supports cap and trade.

Virginia   April 28th, 2009 - 1:13 pm

Specter has been a traitor to those who elected him for years…but he stayed in there, and his constituents allowed him to slap them in the face; who is the greater villian? I am not surprised that he changed parties just in time for the election, he boot-licked till his tongue ran dry. It is typical that the democrats would want him: 60 votes. Both sides have all the loyalty of ally cats.

To Conservatives are Crazy and Bill Airs, apparently the two of you dumbass schmucks have been brainwashed by verminist liars in the left wing media. For years these empty-suits and empty-skirts have been telling you liberal-sheeple the big lie by claiming that Republicans are conservatives, well if all of that is true, then guess what, I would be a registered Republican myself. Bill Airs and Conservatives are Crazy (should be Liberals are Crazy) I will repeat myself until all of you feeble-minded liberals get this through your empty-heads, THERE IS NO CONSERVATIVE PARY IN THIS COUNTRY. Make no mistake about you left wing liars, and guess what, George W Bush ruined and undermined the conservative movement in this country, and Bush WAS NEVER A CONSERVATIVE, he was a LIBERAL all this time. Spector should resign.

Mark and Bill and CAC . . . spin all you want. Spector was going to lose the Republican nomination anyway.

The fact the trolls are on here just proves they are worried. They should be. Their party at last has control and they are worried.

American Liberal   April 28th, 2009 - 2:05 pm

I’m glad Specter joined our party. He never was a true Republican anyway. Welcome aboard and now you can let your liberal views come to the front. I don’t blame you for becoming one of us. You were going to lose in the primary anyway and now you can win as a liberal like you are anyway. Glad to have you with us.

Neal E   April 28th, 2009 - 2:16 pm

Spector in an interview on March 17th with “The Hill”:

“I am staying a Republican because I think I have an important role, a more important role, to play there. The United States very desperately needs a two-party system. That’s the basis of politics in America. I’m afraid we are becoming a one-party system, with Republicans becoming just a regional party with so little representation of the northeast or in the middle atlantic. I think as a governmental matter, it is very important to have a check and balance. That’s a very important principle in the operation of our government. In the constitution on Separation of powers.”

So were you lying then Senator, or lying now?

Either way you are a discredited lair.

Don't Tread on Me   April 28th, 2009 - 2:34 pm

No loss for us. He was a RINO anyway. Seem to recall that he usually voted wtih the demoturds anyway.

PaleRyder   April 28th, 2009 - 2:39 pm

This is exactly what needs to happen to the rinos anyway. The same problem the dems are seeing with some blue dogs in the house.Ridding yourself of phony supporters is a cleansing and a good thing. He was no way even getting the nom. in 2010 and he actually thinks that 200,000 changing from r to d for the primaries last year was a policy disagreement. It was intentional to keep hillary alive and now the dems will have 200,000 more conservatives voting in their primary and helping pick their candidate as happened with McCain and the repubs last year.My guess, even with the senatorial campaign help,he will lose and eventually the dem leaders will stab him in the back as they did to hillary.Good ridance and…next…

To use bold text for emphasis type “” before the text and “” after it, without the quotes and without the spaces.

Don’t use it for the entire post because it is taken as SHOUTING, something leftists like to do in print as well as in person since they have nothing else to offer in the way of conversation.

kmichaels   April 28th, 2009 - 3:37 pm

Bill Airs, repetitive liar seems to be way off on his mathematics about how many voters call themselves reps and how many call themselves dems.

Here are the most accurate and recent numbers.

Currently, 38.7% of Americans say they are Democrats. That’s down from 40.8% a month ago. It’s also the first time the Democratic total has slipped below the 40% mark since the Republican convention bounce last September.
Prior to this month’s result, the Democrats have been over the 40% level 10 times in the previous 13 months (see history from January 2004 to present).
In March, 33.2% of American adults say they are Republicans. That’s down from 33.6% a month ago. Over the past year, the number of Republicans has ranged from a low of 31.4% in April to a high of 34.4% in September.

The independent voters picked up the gain from the losses of both the dems and the reps.

Bill Airs is a pathetic lying troll that will say anything since he lacks morals.

REM   April 28th, 2009 - 3:37 pm

I am getting really tired of this. You know what starts to happen when you have a filibuster proof majority, you start to lose a little democracy. Oh, it doesn’t seem like a lot, but these are the people that are deciding the right for children to be born or murdered, these are the people responsible for order in our legal system, and they can ruin this entire country in a lot less than one or two years.

Also, to all you people who speak of how pathetic the conservatives are and how they’re weakening. Yeah, if you would form two nations, one conservative, one liberal, guess which would survive longer?
I’ll give you a hint, the one that has guns and is not killing its next generation.

CYA Bankster. Get on over there with the rest of the crooks who think they should stay in office for life, and then pass their seat to a family member. I don’t mind becoming part of a “regional party” if what’s left can turn “all the people” against the thieves in New York. Sooner or later truth & honesty will win out over the hate party of Gerafalo, Perez Hilton, Berny Madoff with your money. LMAO

Kind of Ironic that Arlen “magic bullet” Specter & Ted “Castro please kill my brother, I’m jealous” Kennedy would finish out their days in the same party.

Whatwhatwhat   April 28th, 2009 - 3:48 pm

The seat was already lost for the Rethugs. If Specter would have stayed with the whackjobs, they would have defeated him in the primary and the Rethug candidate would have been defeated by the Democrats. Specter smartly gutted the right wing wackos before they had a chance to off him.

Now Specter has rid himself of the right wing nuts and can be comfortable being a respectable American statesman while the Rethug party continues on it’s path to destruction.

Willie   April 28th, 2009 - 3:56 pm

Mention a leftist and out speaks the leftist MaryPatJordan whom I did not mention by name. A leftist is not to be confused with a Democrat or a liberal. Those are both the loyal opposition in the American scheme of things.

A leftist is someone who wants to change the America to a European style socialist or Marxist society with elitists like herself (himself) at the top.

If you would like to use bold text for emphasis check this link for a brief tutorial.
http://tinyurl.com/mdqjf

If you bold your entire post then it is shouting, something leftists prefer to conversation.

Maybe if every Republican jumped to the democrat party, then we can make heter0 marriage illegal and only qu33rs can have children. Also, every corporation can be nationalized, we’ll allow only illegals to work and pay them $100/hr and allow them to retire at age 35 with full benefits and healthcare. Everyone gets a house – whether you can afford it or not. And everyone gets free food and medicine – that is until it runs out and there’s no one left to produce it. And there’s no more children because only qu33rs can get married. But regardless of that food and medicine and children thing, everything will be great!
There won’t be any opposition party. Whatever ideas Obama sh!ts out while sitting on his throne will be approved unanimously. It will be unanimous because politicians like Arlen are too pu55y to stand up to Obama because he’s afraid he’ll be called names – like racist or facist.
And we can thank Arlen for starting the whole move.
