I had an opportunity to view the Ms. California’s reply to Perez Hilton’s question during your pageant. It was principled, tolerant and–above all–honest. It also, I believe cost her any chance of winning or placing in your pageant. To her credit, she must have known it too.

Shortly after, Hilton posted a video to a blog excoriating this young lady, referring to her as a “Dumb Bitch!”, going on a protracted rant as to what the correct answer would have been. If this is what this pageant has come to, to have judges of such low standard in their number, then you have reduced your competition to a meaningless, base pastime indeed.

As for the question asked of the contestant: The question was purely subjective, meaning there was no right or wrong answer. Imagine someone asking how you feel about a particular thing, then telling you that you were wrong. Put yourself in the contestant’s shoes!

Please, for dignity’s sake, apply the common sense all of nature demands! It’s fine if you don’t agree, but please try and think rationally for awhile, and don’t throw a tantrum everytime someone disagrees with you, even on closely held beliefs. Deal with it like an adult.
