To this point the Obama administration held off violent action for the last few days. It has only been under pressure of pundits like Coulter that the seals where unleashed to do what they do best–kill bad guys.

Glad to see that the administration can be pressured into doing the right thing even at the expense of offending Muslims.

This has been widely reported that they–the seals–had been chomping at the bit for days to take these creeps out.

As the threat to the Captain Richy became eminent, the military did what they could have done for a few days now. To let him die would have been a massive black eye to the administration akin to Carter’s rescue fiasco in Iran.

I’m glad Obama did the right thing and gave the go ahead. This is to his credit despite the reluctance.

Hopefully, more sound decisions are to follow.

As for the dems being a permanent fixture in office. I doubt it. I’m sure the GOP thought the same thing as they took the house, senate and executive office back in 2000. The midterms will be a good barometer of how well socialism is perceived by the American public. You got the order wrong. In order of courageousness, the Captain would be first due to his selfless potential sacrifice for his crew, then the seals who performed flawlessly and finally Obama, who allowed them to do what they’ve been itching to for a couple of days now.

Yes, the administration should and has gotten credit here and deservedly so. Just as it would have taken the heat if it had gone the other way.

Now there are “leaks” reporting that he “twice” gave the order for decisive action. Ummm…more spin please, I haven’t had enough. Clearly, the White House does not want to be seen holding up the seals from putting these pirates down. There would be no other reason for such a “leak” other than to make the administration look more hawkish in this incident, now that it turned out in our favor. Better they had “leaked” nothing at all.

Also, a lot of Fox bashing by the left on these boards? Don’t confuse the commentators with the news there. As it turns out an independent audit of their reportage gave Fox much better numbers as it relates to lack of bias when compared to all the other network and cable channels. This likely explains their massive ratings lead. Sain people can smell bias a mile away. BTW: I take in most of my news via the BBC.

As for you traditionalist haters out there. It is we, the middle class and better healed who pay the bills in this country. If the productive, traditional “wealthy” you loathe so much were to disappear, the resulting collapse of America would be funny to watch if it wouldn’t be so tragic. But it is wonderful to see things go so well start to finish with an almost flawless outcome. That took a lot of work, coordination, and leadership. The White House had to coordinate the whole mess. In this case, there are no diplomatic concerns since Somalia is a ‘don’t care’. Obama’s order(s) to “do it” did not matter since that was a given. What mattered here is that the entire military ‘machine’ seems to be working again even with the FBI in this case. As in any situation like this, it is best if it can be negotiated, and most are thus the FBI’s involvement. The surviving pirates will also prosecuted in the United States and the FBI will be handling that.

Excellent teamwork paid off and it is the beginning of the end for the pirates. Today was a good day in Somalia. They won’t all be good. But the game is clear now.

Of course, some folks don’t like America to be successful if it might remotely make that Obama guy look good. They would rather things go bad just so they can whine about it and blame Obama. Like America’s regular enemies, they only win when America fails. But they only do it for personal satisfaction. I believe President Obama is going to be one of the greatest, if not greatest President’s we have ever had. Julie S. has a brain the size of a tse tse fly, period. For the record, the pirates were all teenagers and all of them exposed themselves at once. While I commend the snipers, they would be the first to tell you it was an easy task. When Obama gets Russia and China to change their stance on Iran and North Korea, I will be the first one here to congratulate him. Also, when he rids the inner cities of our homegrown and illegal “pirates”, I will similarly pay tribute.
