Catholics Want President Out of Notre Dame Commencement

AP: Many Catholics are angered by Obama's planned appearance at the May 17 ceremony because of his decisions to provide federal funding for embryonic stem cell research and international family planning groups that provide abortions or educate about the procedure.

CATHOLIC DRUDGE   March 27th, 2009 - 6:25 pm

This will be looked back on years from now, as the point at which NOTRE DAME “Jumped the Shark” and ceased being the leading Catholic University.

V****a Monlogues, Q***r Film Festival, etc. allowed on Campus, in recent years. Former President, Father Molloy, stating: “Stanford is Our Aspirational Peer.”

Well, there has been “Push-Back” – http://www.NotreDameScandal.com – 190,000 petition signatures in a week.

There might just be some fight left, in THE FIGHT IRISH!!

I signed the petition the other day. This invitation should have never been given to Saul Alinsky Obama in the first place.

Having any pro-abortion person speak at a Catholic University is hypocritical based on their stand for pro-life. It should not be allowed…period…and the invitation should be rescinded to make it right and to take a stand!

Catholics imposing their beliefs on a NON Catholic president is a NEW LOW in their whacky Theocracy. You knew he didn’t hold Catholic beliefs when you invited him.
If I was Obama I’d tell Notre Dame to jump up my a$$, hire someone else.
Obama needs Notre Dame, like Liddy Dole needs birth control.

I am one of those 190,000 petitioners. Notre Dame needs to come to it’s senses and rescind the invitation. It’s not about imposing Catholic beliefs on a non-Catholic President, it’s about inviting a President with extremely non-Catholic beliefs to speak at commencement. Father Jenkins has lost his soul; he is a publicity-seeking whore. Notre Dame should not aspire to be Stanford, the school whose band said “F*&^” ND at Notre Dame Stadium a few years ago.

Considering how much Obama has strayed from the teaching in the Bible, he fits the description provided by the apostle Paul in his second letter to Timothy. Paul says “men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.” Obama’s position on abortion, homosexuality and other issues (and his own mocking of the Bible), fits the description. And Pauls calls these people “evil men and impostors.”

Obama does not apply God’s standards to his life. He applies Obama’s standards:

The Christian Anti-Defamation Commission: Seven Reasons Barack Obama is not a Christian:

Concerning Obama’s global popularity, Spurgeon wrote “It were a sad dishonour to a child of God to be the world’s favourite. It is a very ill omen to hear a wicked world clap its hands and shout ‘Well done’ to the Christian man.”

Why is it that Catholics are totally against abortion to the point where they petition, boycott, or picket anything remotely attached to it yet nothing even close is done when children get raped? Where’s the petitions and picket lines when that happens? Is a child’s life meaningless when they get a certain age?

Anexio   March 28th, 2009 - 7:46 pm

Hey Pete,

Why is the rape of a child any worse than a the rape of an adult?

That doesn’t make any sense. Do want different punishments based on the age of the victim?

And how is rape and abortion anywhere near the same thing? How can you compare a sexual assault that will likely result in lifelong depression to scraping a clump of cells out of a uterus, something the woman has asked for and is totally legal?
