I really had the uneasy feeling that someone else was in control of him, that he was not really talking but being a spokesmodel under someone else’s remote control. Honestly I have never heard such stilted speech and such roundabout, fragmented answers to what were very simple, easy questions! Obama is a puppet – who is the puppet master? Soros? Chavez?

It was obvious before they even got a shot of it. He didn’t turn his head more than a handful of times whereas with his side by side prompters he spoke in a 3-5 word cadence. If he could avoid glaring stumbles like he had a couple times tonight it might actually improve peoples perception of his oration. Then all he’d have to do was work on coming up with some substance to the words coming out of his mouth.
Also, I feel that I have pegged one of his tells for lying. Whenever he puts his forefinger and thumb together and moves them up and down with his words, he is lying. Also when ever he places his hands parallel to each other and presents an answer he will inevitably include a ‘but’ proposition or a shallow singular alternative to whatever he sees as his spectacular proposal. So next time he speaks on camera, remember, fingers together or hands parallel. You will be amazed.
Looks like this administration is reading Drudge and listening to Rush. I guess it’s only a matter of time before Giant TV starts its own blog.

The Split screen comparison that Obama had the most in common with was Reagan.
Conservatives, you need to come up with ideas if you want the power back. Reagan won because he convinced moderates that smaller government was better, not that gay marriage is a sin, not that his opponent was an anti American terrorist….he sold the US public on this core principals. Have none of you ever taken even a general college course in public speaking? One of the cornerstones of a good speech or public address is preparation and a method to help one in maintaing the organization and flow of the talking points. Use of cards, teleprompters, in this case a television, is to aid the speaker in keeping calm and maintaining train of thought. Do you really want your president to take hours memorizing a speech or hours focusing on the problems he and his cabinet are trying to fix? Do you want him to end up speaking off the cuff and end up confusing the general audience with intricate details they won’t understand or accidentally leaving out points? No matter what side of the fence you are on about Obama, it is really quite silly to focus on his use of visual aids. Furthermore, to all the obviously unread notations about Obama being a puppet, a small stupid man, etc., you really need to do some in-depth reading regarding the current state of economic affairs as well as some reading on history and political policy. Negative and childish comments bring both parties and all view points down.

Nixon regularly gave 30 – 50 minute addresses without the aid of a teleprompter or any other aid. As Milton Friedman, whose policies Nixon wisely did not choose to follow (because he knew they would lead to a debacle of the kind that has now befallen us) said Nixon was one of the smartest people he ever met. If he were still alive, Friedman would no doubt concede that Nixon was the smartest person he ever ever met.
