It seems to me the economy took a steeper decline after the elections of 06 when the Dems got the majority in the congress.
And with Obama in the whitehouse it just seems to keep getting uglier.

Matthews will forever be known as the guy who got chills and tingles up his leg when he heard a politician speak, and then claim that he is not partisan. This was truly the moment journalism died in America.

Sorry, didn’t Obama not only win the election but also get an outright majority? That hasn’t happened in a while. You guys sound like sore losers. Get over it.
P.S. Matthews was a speechwriter for Carter. The guy is self-admittedly liberal. He has never pretended that his show is “news”. Pretty different from O’Reilly and Hannity who claim to be moderate/small ‘c’ conservative. But maybe they’re all the same anyway – cable network talking heads. I had big hopes about this country after the election, but I guess we’ll never escape the same old culture wars.

How about this one America…just revealed that part of our taxpayer money given out to Citibank and Bank of America instead of loaning it to Americans like it was intended…loaned it to the Islamic country of Dubai and other Arab countries.
What is going on here, America? We are being played for fools by Saul Alinsky Obama and his socialist Democrats and Republicans in the Congress.
THIS MUST STOP! THIS IS DESTROYING OUR ECONOMY! AND DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS ARE TO BLAME!

Could Matthews be anymore hateful?? Good for Ari for trying to stand up to him, although Matthews hardly let him get a word in edgewise. The only reason he was invited on the show was to belittle him and the Bush Administration. Ari’s right…he is a shameful human being. There is no one on tv who can kiss Nobamas @ss better than Matthews!

Matthews, has finally come to the conclusion that he has risen as far up the media ladder as he will ever get and he seems a little bitter. Now all he has left is his liberalism. It is consuming him. He is now just another one of the screamers on the left. He has to be a bit embarassed over that man love thing he has for Obama.

It’s so ridiculous: Bush kept us safe! Obviously Ari means after 9/11, which is worth mentioning, by the way. Don’t you think?
Condi said, “I don’t think anybody could have predicted … that they would try to use an airplane as a missile,” .” Wait didn’t you all tell us that there was a security exercise planned that exact day that just happened to involve planes going into the World Trade Center?
You all have got to keep your cover stories straight! OK?!
Why did Bush go into that school and start reading “My Pet Goat on 9/11″ – right after telling a reporter he was already aware of what was going on in New York?
Ari, why did you all blame Arabs for 9/11, when 5 Israels were caught filming the plane hitting the tower – these same Israelis were shortly after that caught with bombs in their van?
Oh don’t worry, Ari! You guys did a real good job! A real good job killing innocent Americans and sabotaging our economy. Of course one of Mossad’s specialties is false-flag operations, isn’t that right, Ari? Bologna 1980? 86 people killed! Wait until, Seymour Hersh reveals more information about Dick Cheney’s assassination team – which just broke today.

Typical fool liberal not allowing a conservative to get a word in edgewise. That’s how they operate, always talking over conservatives. They don’t want their listeners to actually hear what the other side says in case their listeners might actually take a minute to think for themselves and think, hmmmmmm maybe these liberal talking heads are messing with my head, and maybe I better do a little research here.

I’ll try some of whatever in the hell racerx is taking. lol You’ve not only set a new low point in tin foil hat theories but you’ve set a land speed record in getting there. The democratic party has it soooo easy with you nutjobs. lol You just can’t stop the hate, anything that might feed it you just wolf it down as gospel and now you should be able to see why any rational human being won’t even look twice at posts of that calibre, we would have to lower ourselves to that level of back-biting hatred. But you do make for cheap entertainment.
I know what, go check Rosie O’s site and pull up her theory on our own government blowing the buildings up themselves!! That should keep you out of trouble for at least the next few hours. Tell us again, how did the Obama get elected…roflmao

Sundowner,
I respect your skepticism. However, I think if you look into it, you’ll find that our very own government has a pretty long history of being behind state-sponsored terrorism.
Most Americans simply aren’t aware of it. If you understand the recent history of false-flag terrorist events as planned and carried out by the CIA, Mossad, and MI6 , then you have at least a precedent to work with for possibly understanding 9/11.
Please look at the first link of the ex-prime minister of Italy confirming our own government’s involvement in state-sponsored terrorism against many, many innocent civilians throughout Europe and South America throughout the years.
ANTHRAX! We WERE terrorized again! We WERE hit again! Was it by the SAME terrorists as 9/11? No! Was it probably our own home-grown right wingers? Yes! Every time a GOP blowhard says Bush kept us safe, somebody needs to remind them that the Anthrax attacks happened AFTER 9/11, and the crimes are STILL UNSOLVED.
Lie and lie and lie, and then lie about the lies, and then lie about the lies you lied about. It’s the Republican Way. Shame on you Ari Fleischer!

Sorry racrex we’re more concerned about Liberal & Rino terrorism in this country.
I’m not sure how old you are racerx but I’ve researched these events as they happened, not in hindsight like your so called documentaries or op eds that let a person fill in the blanks to cover gaps in the story later on and my advice to you is if you are that willing to believe a so called BBC documentary on what’s been going on with our own government, I would remind you these were the same people you crucified Bush over for getting faulty intel, you can’t have it both ways, brainfart.

Dave, Tn-
I would have to disagree the first premise of that article:
“The US housing market was a bubble that burst, which can be blamed mostly on Democratic politicians.”
—————–
Interesting article regarding Andrew Cuomo, but it doesn’t explain why our economy is basically teetering on or already in a Depression now.
—————————–
The sub-prime loan problems can be traced back to the Savings and Loan scandal, at least twenty years ago – without getting into ancient history. But if we want to start looking back twenty odd years ago we have to look at The Keating Five Scandal, as well as the Silverado Savings and Loan Collapse of 1988.
Now while the sub-prime housing situation seems to have triggered the crisis. The real problem is that our whole economy was invested in Derivatives.
The sub-prime mess is not so much a new crisis as it is a resumption of the saga that began with the savings and loan scandal of the early 1980s, when executives of S&Ls went on a risky lending binge with government-insured money. Then, as now, there were many individual culprits, but the real problem was the ideology of deregulation and the capture of public policy for private gain by the financial industry.
The New York Times
Thursday, March 12, 2009
And he(Phil Gram) pushed through a provision that ensured virtually no regulation of the complex financial instruments known as DERIVATIVES, including credit swaps, contracts that would encourage risky investment practices at Wall Street’s most venerable institutions and spread the risks, like a virus, around the world.
Phil Gram said“,Some people look at subprime lending and see evil,†he said. “I look at subprime lending and I see the American dream in action.â€
BUSH SIGNS AMERICAN DREAM DOWNPAYMENT ACT
$200 million program will help tens of thousands of low-income families to become homeowners
“Today we are taking action to bring many thousands of Americans closer to the great goal of owning a home,” said President Bush. “These funds will help American families achieve their goals, strengthen our communities, and our entire nation.”
You guys know that I don’t watch MSLGBT, CNN, Fox (Fox is NO longer a conservative network you inferior minded liberals), ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, NPR, KGB, etc. But Softball (Chris Matthews) is a disgrace, and I’ve seen that Far Right Wing Wacko is apologizing for this left wing clown on MSLGBT. Very typical of the left, apologizing for their own kind whenever their wrong!
Chris Matthews is out of control crazy. NBC deserves all the ratings drops that he and Olbermann, et al bring to the network.
What a freak!
kept us safeMarch 12th, 2009 - 3:45 pm
Claiming Bush kept us safe after 9/11 is like a farmer spraying pesticide on apples that have fallen off the tree. Sure no bugs are going to get in but the apple already fell and is rotting from the inside out.
JBMarch 13th, 2009 - 11:32 am
It’s great to see Ari Fleischer go right back into Matthew’s face. I have never seen a more repulsive political commentator than Chris Matthews, and Olberman is right there with him, taking snippets, amplifying often out of context and manipulating premise, promoting propaganda associations and labels he hopes will catch, cliche generalizations, and then motor mouth mauling anyone who might have a good word to say about Bush or anything republican. Matthews doesn’t even realize it, but he’s primarily about promoting hatred. Raising the listeners blood pressure and promoting hatred. His show shouldn’t be called hardball it should be called hyena feeding. The man loves hatred like an addiction.

Um.. buddy. did you miss the point? Can you stay on topic?
