Bye-bye Freedom of Speech…we’ll miss you.

*sigh*

Stymie,
Before you *sigh* too much, look into the Hatch Act.

Government employees are not allowed to voice their opinions on partisan political matters while using their government titles. That is the essence of the Hatch Act. This has nothing to do with this man’s “free speech”. Government employees, including the military, have this explained to them when they enter government service.

If he wants to mouth off about his opinions on global warming then he should quit his job and he will be “free” to do so. Otherwise he should shut up!

Since when is talking about science a political point. He was speaking of global warming. Government employee’s can speak about this, it has nothing to do with Hatch Act. Someone asked him a question about it. So Airwick, I’m military and I’ve seen all the evidence for and against global warming. I’ve come to the conclusion after educating myself, it is in fact climate change which is nothing new. So you can go shut the up yourself, if you think you are going to talk down to government employees and hide behind the Hatch Act to protect your moronic views, good luck.

Airwick…so noted! Thank you for clearing the air on that one. I had no idea; I thought they were just trying to shut him up.
