Sanders claims that he made the video as a joke and he claims that the minute he uploaded it he put an annotation box on the video saying that John Gibson didn’t say what was in the video.

There is no other way to say this other than that is just not the case. The video was up for some time before the annotation box was added and that was after the reality of the video’s doctoring was starting to explode in the blogosphere. I agree with you. I happened to see the clip right after it was posted, and never saw any annotation at Newser, Johnny Dollar or when I went to see what was posted at Huffington. I actually checked to see if there was a comment of some sort by the poster, as to why and what the reason it was posted. Also, I never saw who posted it being prominent. So, I hate to say it, but I don’t believe a word this dude says. I think he added the annontation after he started getting a glimmer of the idea it was blowing up. The reason he said he made it makes absolutely no sense. I call BS.

Joke or not (and i can assure you it was), Huffington Post should have verified the authenticity of the video. How could they have thought it was real in the first place?? I mean, seriously? Just another case of a supposedly “legitimate” news resource going after the story but not the truth.
