‘This Is Our House Now’: ACORN Breaks Homeowners Back Into Foreclosed Homes
"We are actually trespassing, and so this is a way of civil disobedience to try to stay in the house. Legally it's wrong, but homesteading is the only means that she has left to stay in her house. And we feel as though this is the right thing to do at this particular time to save this family."

You mean ACORN couldn’t wait until Obams helped arrange another loan for these people at a discount price? And couldn’t ACORN wait until they got their slice of the nearly TRILLION DOLLAR GIVE-AWAY?
It isn’t homesteading! It isn’t taking your own home back! The bank now OWNS the home! It is BREAKING AND ENTERING — which in most states is a FELONY. Law enforcement officers should arrest the FELONS and the SQUATTERS and anyone else who assists in such FELONOUS ACTS!
Socialism anyone?February 20th, 2009 - 6:47 pm
Well let’s see now…Breaking & Entering is now called “civil disobedience”.
Isn’t socialism just wonderful…it’s always on the side of the “poor victim”. BO should be very proud of his little dems.
JoJoFebruary 20th, 2009 - 6:52 pm
Please tell me that someone will follow up when the local police arrest these fools.
Ya ya, never gonna happen. So where does it stop?
KevinFebruary 20th, 2009 - 7:11 pm
So now ACORN calls break and enter “homesteading”.. They need to read some history, and the law.
I hope they are prosecuted.
VirginiaFebruary 20th, 2009 - 7:24 pm
The bigger the lie, the the more outrageous the action, the more it will be believed!! Crimes committed in broad daylight are more apt to be successful, because no one believes anyone would DO such a thing. And so they CAN do it!! Don’t ever forget that Obama taught , helped organize and is STILL a big ACORN supporter. And he has given them a significant portion of the so-called stimulus package to do EXACTLY what they are doing!!
fande3rlsFebruary 20th, 2009 - 7:28 pm
These Are criminal acts , they should be prosecute to the full extent of the Law.
The homeowners that live near by should make sure to watch their property closely.
Lock N LoadFebruary 20th, 2009 - 7:52 pm
ACORNers should be beaten, THEN arrested along with the squatters and quickly!!
NicoleFebruary 20th, 2009 - 8:04 pm
This is shocking to me. Imagine if you were the owner of this property and saw on the news that someone was breaking in and damaging your property. These people should be arrested and ordered to pay restitution.
ORightyFebruary 20th, 2009 - 8:21 pm
So … Acorn is now the moral authority over housing. I’m am so glad that they got their porkulus money’s /sarc. These people need to be put in their place and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. This what our POTUS has in mind for the future of our country? Lord have mercy on us all.
CruisnezFebruary 20th, 2009 - 8:42 pm
Okay. So let’s say you buy some crack, but you don’t have enough money to pay for all of it, but your Dude says you can pay him ten dollars a week for the next three weeks, but you don’t make the payments on the second and third weeks, does ACORN say you get to keep the crack? If you buy a house but don’t pay for it………..? If you sign an agreement you can’t live up to………..? What happens to the Dude? He either walks away broke, or Bozo ends up owning him and his business. Dude!!!

There’s a term to describe people who can’t afford to pay their mortgage and lose their houses.
No, the term is not “homeless”.
The proper term is “renter”. I know a lot of good, law abiding, hard working people who rent apartments and houses. If it’s good enough for these people, then it’s good enough for the irresponsible fools who signed an agreement they couldn’t possibly honor.

Just think, ACORN is going to get 5 billion from this stimulus bill. America needs to know the addresses of all these ACORN people so we can do some ‘homesteading’ of our own. It is so sad that America’s first black president is bent on destroying the country. Obama is setting the civil rights movement back 100 years.

Minnesota Sam,
You were right up to a point. The bank doesn’t own the house anymore, IT HAS ALREADY BEEN SOLD to another person! Then it gets even worse! I cannot believe that people see stuff like this and don’t freak out. Enough of these clips getting out, be sure to pass this one around, and Obama will have to answer to why he is supporting this with our tax dollars. I am sure he will give a tepid response, say it is bad, blah blah, but we the people need to hold his feet to the fire on this bs.
PersonFebruary 20th, 2009 - 11:09 pm
poor piece of journalism, there was a 3 second blurb of a woman talking about the cost of rent going up 300 dollars in a month, other than that very little backstory, all we’re seeing is people bust into homes with chain cutters, and all we’re hearing fragments of ACRON’s interview admitting to the laws they’ve broken
not going one way or the other, it’s just easy to see all the information isn’t being given
Okay let’s all stop paying taxes, paying our house note, and claim homestead rights. Seems to work for Acorn. We can just sit on the porch with our hand out for some of the crapulus package.
LeatherneckFebruary 20th, 2009 - 11:22 pm
I have a great idea. Let’s pass a law that explicitly forces any person or group that breaks any existing law to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of that law.
The solution for the law breakers will become immediately obvious.
Find another profession.
Let’s add a three strikes and your out clause as well.
An addendum could read something like this………
Trespass, forcible entry, illegal squating, and or seizing a home that is not yours subjects you and your enablers to death by property owner defending said property, with the weapon of his or hers choice.
That’s what homesteading is all about. Wake up and smell the cordite ACORN.

it would be horrifically ironic if any of you tough talking conservatives eventually become this desperate.
but i suppose there’s no chance of that happening. not in this economy, huh?
"OUR House"February 20th, 2009 - 11:52 pm
What does he MEAN, “It’s our house now.” IS *ACORN* THAT NEW DOMESTIC SECURITY FORCE THAT OBAMA HAD IN MIND?
B & WFebruary 20th, 2009 - 11:56 pm
If some white folks tried that crap of cutting the padlock and breaking in, we’d get BUSTED, literally and figuratively; but if black-corns do it, it’s OK???
No I don’t worry at all about this happening to me you know why? I bought a home I knew I could afford. I knew I could afford the insurance, taxes and the note before I signed any papers.
Now I could have bought a fine home with all the perks and maybe a pool or whatever. But I knew we could not afford a home like that. We love our home, it’s not a mansion but nobody will ever take it from me.
AlanaFebruary 20th, 2009 - 11:57 pm
Revhachell, I couldn’t be poor enough to ever encourage me to break into a house and take it over.
Is that a strange concept to you?
JustinFebruary 21st, 2009 - 1:07 am
ACORN has moved on from massive voter fraud to breaking and entering.
Is there any doubt that they are a criminal organization?
GuyFebruary 21st, 2009 - 1:17 am
ACORN is not saying in any way that they are above the law. They are in fact pointing out all the crimes they are committing and acknowledging they are still subject to them. I’m pretty sure that this is more of a symbolic protest to gain the media’s attention than them really intending to stay in these homes undisturbed. So ACORN is not a sovereign force coming in to steal people’s homes and possessions, it’s more of a non violent sit-in in houses no one’s living in.
I also support what revhachell is saying, which is that some people can so easily pass judgement without knowing a motive.
As for B&W, I’m pretty sure the woman whose house they were “busting” into was white and that just because the man they interviewed was black does not mean he’s exempt or a white man would not have been dealt with the same way.
For B, we could go on and on about individual responsibility vs predatory loans and no one would be changed by what the other had to say. I’m just saying that most would not blame the victim of manipulation in any other case like stock manipulation or money laundering, but in the case of housing it is not the duty of morgage lenders to present accurate representations? If it was an online sexual predator rather than a lending predator we would not say that the victim new the dangers of the internet and that it’s their fault.
And to Alana, this is a non-violent and resonable way to try and get their problem some attention. You seem quite quick to jump to what you would and would not do in that situation. I myself would like to think i would never steal, but if starving I know what I would have to do. The thing about ACORN’s and these ex-homeowner’s actions are that they aren’t destroying the property, it’s still in the same condition as when they came in and the bank will probably end up reclaiming it. If ACORN forcfully and violently prevents them that will be something else. But they haven’t. Like I said it is much like a civil disobedience sit-in to a private business in that:
1)they expect to be persecuted eventually, as they should be because they broke the law
2)they are going about this in a non-disruptive or harmful manner
and maybe their actions will bring about a policy change.
EmmaJayFebruary 21st, 2009 - 1:56 am
Wow. This is unreal.
Here’s a brain-melter for all you bleeding-heart liberals: its not “your” house until you’ve satisfied the loan and rendered the payoff. Until then, its the property of the lender and they can and obviously will repo THEIR property if you’re not paying the bill. By staying in the property unlawfully, this woman and her buddies at ACORN are stealing from the lender (and in this specific instance, the person who had bought the foreclosed home).
Also, this isn’t “civil disobedence.” That implies that no laws are being broken. This is criminal tresspass and vandalism and I hope that the ACORN people filmed on-camera breaking and entering are arrested and charged along with the woman they’re supposed to be “helping.” She was worried about not having a home before, right? Well, jail is rent-free.
DSFebruary 21st, 2009 - 6:26 am
“Forclosure free zone”??
Pay your f’in bills and it would be.
jeanneBFebruary 21st, 2009 - 6:47 am
My house sits empty all day long while I’m at work. Do these people think I should turn it over to some homeless person all day? Will they soon tell me that’s a waste of resources…homeless people need showers, cooking facilities, TV, etc?
Pay rent? No way. In their socialist little minds, if it’s not being used it’s up for grabs.
Think it can’t happen? Find an old copy of “Dr Zhivago”…check out the scenes of his family home after the glorious revolution. Once it’s established that everyone has a “right” to a home ownership becomes irrelevant.
ACORN got more than 2 BILLION DOLLARS from the stimulus. What happened to the supposed voter fraud investigations? No word since O won. Shocker. They should use some of that money to educate their people. The guy in the video couldn’t even put an English sentence together. And at the end of the video the newsguy says the bank sold it and doesn’t even own it, which is why it was being remodeled. The horror! Someone’s remodeling a house they just bought! And these idiots broke in. Pigs. This is getting more disgusting by the day.

duhFebruary 21st, 2009 - 8:32 am
Pitch a tent on the front yard with a big sign of who your bank is. This will only work if you did not overextend yourself in mortgage payments too much and can afford the payments if you extend the loan out 5-10 years. I don’t think we will see that many tents. Other than that it’s a felony.
DaveFebruary 21st, 2009 - 9:31 am
They are commiting a crime. If that dude busted that door down and I was the new owner inside, he would have been met at the door with 45ACP bullets coming from my Springfield XD. Too bad, so sad. Breaking and entering is not civil disobedience, its a criminal act, ffs. Whats next going to the impound lot and stealing your car back as a form of civil disobedience? Or how about taking food from the store without purchasing it because you lost your job and its everyone elses fault. They eat food, so should you. Liberalism is a mental disorder. I love how the guy in this video actually confesses to the crime!!! Good luck getting a defense attorney homey!

BillFebruary 21st, 2009 - 9:58 am
Revrachet or whatever your name is.
No, I am not in danger of losing my house at all. Know why? I took out a 15 year mortgage on a house I could afford. I drove the same car for ten years of that time, and when I came into extra money as my income went up (through hard work, and constantly improving my job skills,) I made double payments. I ate at home, and took vacations to places in off season, and still have wonderful memories of. Now my home is paid for, and even without adding extravagant improvements, it is worth twice what I paid for it. I have marble counter tops I put in my self. I installed the stone tile myself, thanks to a free two-hour course at Home Depot. I didn’t use my home for an ATM machine for things I really didn’t need, like my neighbors, who bought Cadillac Escalades and plasma TV and took costly vacations, and who now can’t make the payments on the 11% interest rate loans they took out to make the down payments on all these things they bought.
I am doing fine, thanks.

Guys, remember back last summer when Obama said that he wants to create his own “National Civilian Force”? I don’t think it won’t be too long when you’ll start seeing folks in collard-button-down green shirts in your local areas knocking and ringing your doorbells to find out how much electricity, gas, etc. your using on your properity.
Afterall, in that spending bill about $1.2 billion for summer jobs for youth, go figure that out!
Quick…..refinance my house and go out and buy a bunch of stuff I don’t need…..flat screen tvs….boat….cars…..wine…..women….ect….then don’t pay my house payment….this will get the economy going….they said they’re not foreclosing anymore……and if we all do this how can they throw all of us out anyhow….and as a side bonus ….stop paying your taxes…..those clowns in Washington don’t……and what you send them they waste anyhow…..worse that could happen is that we could be put in jail…..no wait ….there’s no room in jails….Callyfornya letting them out…..hey this is a win win idea…..gosh I didn’t know I was this smart…..they should give me a position in Washington. he.he.he

If POTUS Obama has the time to weigh-in on the allegations of steroid abuse by some ball-player, I suggest he find the time to CONDEMN the actions of ACORN regarding the illegal confiscaton of homes!!!! He won’t though; ACORN has been his key to organizing for just such purposes. When will people realize the dangers this man has supported??
Try Russia 1917! Comrade Obama says state must provide home for everyone. We will track you by the mile. Change that line in the constitution from the “pursuit of happiness” to the “pursuit of existence.” That is if you agree with the state, otherwise, like China, we have this nifty organ donor program. Count your kidneys folks.
If anyone had doubts about ACORN, this ought to clarify things a bit.

LIBTARDS AND ARRESTED DEVELOPMENTFebruary 21st, 2009 - 3:08 pm
Some blockhead wrote, “this is a non-violent and resonable way to try and get their problem some attention.”
Yeah, right, and you are a “reasonable” IDIOT. Try telling the new owner (who, by the way, just might be in there taking a nap with a gun or knife under his pillow!) that this is “reasonable” to have somebody crashing into his newly acquired residence and trying to SQUAT there!
YOU LIBTARDS NEED TO LEARN ABOUT *BOUNDARIES* AND STAYING ON YOUR OWN SIDE OF THE DIVIDING LINE BETWEEN “ME” AND “YOU”! (This is something MOST people learn around age 1 1/2 or 2 years old. Speaks volumes about the level of MATURITY and EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF “LIBTARDS”.)
Erroneous Title (Again)February 21st, 2009 - 3:11 pm
The headline on this story is inaccurate: These are NOT “homeowners” who are breaking into foreclosed homes. These are people who DEFAULTED ON THEIR LOANS. They NEVER DID “OWN” the home.

let me get this straight this woman bought a 87k house at a reasonable mortgage rate. when she gained equity she used her house like a bank vault and refinanced to the hilt. The evil bank gave her the cash…SHe over extended herself, I feel sorry for the bank. This situation is that of many who are losing their houses. Instead of living within their means they lived it up in the inflated equity. The gangster tactics of ACORN are gonna be the second shot in another revolution of reasonable people who played by the rules.
