Bill Clinton: We Need ‘Fairness Doctrine…or More Balance’ on Radio Talk Shows

"Essentially there's always been a lot of big money to support the right wing talk shows and let face it, you know, Rush Limbaugh is fairly entertaining even when he is saying things that I think are ridiculous."

Mark Levin is right when he stated, now that the Democrats are in power, they are inflicted soft tyranny on the American people.

There is no reason for the Fairness Doctrine other then to muzzle and control opposing speach.

I thought this country was founded to escape tyranny.

Is Bill still hanging around?

Det819   February 12th, 2009 - 10:39 pm

Don’t you get it Billy,
the other side keeps failing because the people are seeing right through their lies, cover-ups, obama carrying water journalist. They had enough of that crap. You might smooth talk Hillary, but you are not going to smooth talk the America people anymore.
Talk about fair and balance, what the heck was ED Schultz doing in the front seat of Obams press Conference. Can you even imagine if Russ Limbaugh or Sean Hannity was in the front seat of Bush Press Conference. Your side would have a field day. You Libs make me sick.

People have a right to say their opinion, even if it’s blatantly stupid. To dictate what a person has to say or present on their show is to stifle freedom of speech. It is up to the listener to discern the validity of what they hear.

His statement proves this is how STUPID the left thinks the unwashed masses are.

You gotta be kidding? Where was all the fairness and balance during the Presidential Campain. Just how fair were the cable news stations when it came to McCain. The stations were nothing but Obama, Obama, Obama

sugarugby   February 13th, 2009 - 3:27 am

Time has featured Obama on its cover 14 times since Jan. 1. 2008 Newsweek was close behind, featuring the now-president-elect on 12 of its issues. Time has had 52 issues in 2008, so Obama has been featured on more than one-in-four of its covers, or about 27% of the time.

Hey Billy, while you’re at it why not hit all media sources, If you’re going to advocate tyranny why not full bore?
While you’re at it I’d LOVE to see some balance in my local paper, on my local TV News affiliate, on my PBS station, in my child’s School, need I go on ?…..

Our fight do not mean anything to the bollon knot Clinton or the DEMS. They all stink and should go live in Europe. This will always be one sided and we are loosing. Call your reps and complain. This will have to be a big fight. Obama will get his wish. Everything he wants he is going to get in the next 4 years. While this counrty goes into the hopper.

So there’s not big money behind MSNBC? Obermann and Matthews don’t say rediculus things? Air America was a failure because it WAS saying ridiculus things. Is Soros funding liberal activities not big money? What is big money compared to the blatant stealing and misuse in the amount of 781 billion dollars of tax payer money called a stimulus bill for liberal programs. Bill crawl back to your hooker and shut up.

These idiots should be careful what they wish for. The reason conservative, and not liberal, talk radio dominates is in both the intelligence and delivery, in most cases, of the material people want to hear. They merely allude to the idiocy of their opponents but should this law pass folks will get a first hand look at just how anemic by comparison the views of the left are when compared to conservatism.

Neal E   February 13th, 2009 - 8:40 am

So the Dems run the House, Senate and the Presidency most TV networks, but right wing talk radio is repressing their views?

They want total dominance of the airwaves also….that is the only piece left for them to control.

There’s change you can believe in.

JbRITTO   February 13th, 2009 - 9:46 am

I believe a number of you are missing exactly why
B.Clinton made the statement regarding the FD. I think he made the statement to cause the POTUS and the Dems. problems…I don’t think there is any love lost between Potus and Bill, and he can see that POTUS has reduced Hillary’s new position a great deal by the appointment of others to be stationed in other areas of the world. In addition they report directly back to him not to Hillary, thus Hillary has a greatly reduced job now and this is Bill’s way of saying…”you ain’t seen nothing yet” if you screw Hillary over. The FD is not something Potus wants to be bothered with right now.

An Open Letter to our former “Democratic” President…Slick Willie Clinton.

Yesterday we celebrated the birthday of one of the greatest “REPUBLICAN” Presidents, Abraham Lincoln.

Abraham Lincoln was a great believer in our Constitution. A Constitution that still stands today as a tribute to the men who put it together in the hopes of perpetuating a great nation of great people.

It has endeared over 200 years now and will continue to do so if great Americans like President Abraham Lincoln continue to speak up and speak out when wrongs are identified.

Had it not been for President Lincoln and his burden about the slave trade taking place in our country at that time, we would not have a half/black President today.

President Lincoln used the freedom of speech element in the Constitution to speak his heart and his mind on the slave trade.

He used “freedom of speech” to speak out…even though there were thousands that disagreed with him and his convictions.

That “freedom of speech” led to a clash of American against American…called the Civil War.

It was despicable that Americans fought against each other…even family members against family members because their convictions were so deep on one side or the other.

That “freedom of speech” freed a nation of people who had originally had “no voice”!

That “freedom of speech” put in place a policy in our country…that all men/women should be free in a free society because of their race or gender.

What would President Lincoln think of what you and others in the Democrat party are trying to do by imposing a limit on that “freedom of speech”?

I can tell you this…reading of this great REPUBLICAN President…he would not take it lying down…he would speak up and speak out against it and label it for what it is…un-American and against the great Constitution that he based his administration on.

This “Fairness Doctrine” is nothing more than trying to squelch the voices of millions in opposition to the socialist Democrats in our country trying to impose their socialist ways upon “all” Americans!

You understand that there are millions and millions of us here in America that have found our voice and are speaking out and speaking up.

You cannot silence us…we are the people…we are America and we will be heard.

You Democrats are devious in trying to control our thoughts and our speech…you are acting against the very foundation of our country…the Constitution of the United States of America…that provides each and every American the right of “free” speech!

The right to say whatever we want, whenever we want and we will do whatever possible to make sure that continues to be our right!

=========================

IF YOU WANT TO BE A PART OF A SOCIETY THAT LIMITS THE VOICES OF IT’S PEOPLE, WE WILL TAKE UP A COLLECTION FROM FREE AMERICANS AND GET YOU A ONE WAY TICKET TO CUBA, VENEZULEA, RUSSIA, IRAN, ETC.

WE ARE SURE THEY WILL GREET YOU WITH OPEN ARMS!

Sean R.   February 13th, 2009 - 10:30 am

Remember last week Debbie Stabenow said the samething on some losers talk show, and it turns out that her husband runs a left wing talk show network that nobody listens to, and he also ran the failed and bankrupt Hot-Air America. Earlier this week, it was Tom Darkness (Harkin) who said the very samething, but he also said that conservatives won’t be taken off the air, and I don’t agree with Darkness for one bit. Now Bill Clinton is saying the samething, and what the hell has Bill Clinton done since Novemeber of 2000? The answer is NOTHING, this friggin guy is no longer an elected-official. If Bill Clinton, Tom Darkness, Debbie Stabenow and a few others keep this bullcrap up, then the talk show host on the radio will sue these vermin personally, and these verminist politicans will be forced to file for bankruptcy. Make no mistake about this people, those who are for this so-called “fairness doctrine” are “evil” people, and they also should be hated and disliked.

And here’s a quote what Cicero wrote back in his day, he’s mentioning people like Clinton, Harkin and Stabenow:

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself.

For the traitor appears not a traitor, he speaks in accent familiar to his victims, and he wears their face an their arguements, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secrectly and unkown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.” Marcus Tullius Cicero, Roman orator, statesman 42 BC.

Eileen…have you ever thought of running for office? I look forward to reading what you have to say. I think your future should be in politics. Give “bug eyes” Pelosi a run for her money!! lol

Isn’t it ironic that, according to Slick Willie and the rest of his comrades, the Fairness Doctrine should only apply to the libs..whats fair about that?

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   February 13th, 2009 - 11:38 am

Dear Give Me Liberty…thank you…I have thought of running for an office…I know I could do better than what we have…but then anybody could!

Dear Sean R…that quote from Cicero…was very appropriate for what we are now going through here in America today with the Nation of Islam’s Messiah at the head of our government.

A parallel has often been made between the fall of Rome and the possible fall of America…this quote is very revealing for that argument.

Thanks to both of you for your comments…fight on!

Enzo   February 13th, 2009 - 12:14 pm

Bill Clinton is in on the fix. The fix was in long ago… and we’ve been had people.

I used to laugh at the various conspiracy theorists over the years. But there is now no doubt in my mind that we are under the control of a very powerful and secretive group of organized criminals… wealthy, greedy, and evil beyond comprehension.

Look at the situation in our world politic… then try to follow the money. I doubt we’ll ever be able to prove any of it, because they (WHOEVER THEY ARE) are in control of everything now. The United States, having become the lone super power, actually made the conspirators job much easier. They were able to concentrate an all out effort on just one gullible country… US. With the USA having become a nation of societal pushovers has made it a cake walk for the invaders.

These people control our press, 99.9% of Hollywood, 90% of all broadcast media, both political parties, the investment and banking industries, our schools and universities. In addition to all of that, through shear genius they successfully sucked us into major hostilities abroad, drawing our mighty military machinery into wars in remote (and basically worthless regions of the world). By so doing, they have effectively hamstrung our military… essentially controlling the Pentagon, keeping our best warriors at bay… far from the home front during this most critical time.

Talk radio is the lone media outlet the left can never wrest control over on merit, because it engages THINKING Americans, which infuriates the left. They realize they can’t control talk radio without coercive force, so that is what they intend to use. They are tenacious, and they fight dirty.

The more I see what is unfolding throughout the world, the more the pieces of this conspiracy puzzle fall into place. It is evident that we the people are not in control of anything anymore.

Forget about your 401k America… Guns and ammo are what I recommend people invest in at this juncture. Something ominous is brewing, and if I we to go down, it should not be without a fight.

Eileen, guess what, another whackjob left wing demoncat just yesterday wanted the so-called (un)fairness doctrine back, and that schumks name is Maurice Hinchey (D-New York). Eileen and everybody else on these boards, sooner than later there’s going to be a “right wing revolution” in this country and it’s not going to be on the streets, it’s going to be at the ballot boxes in the next election(s). And as I said yesterday on this forum, whoever is for the (un)fairness doctrine should be hated and disliked, it’s clear to me that these losers have something to hide from the general public.

Liberalism is a Mental Disorder!!!!

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   February 14th, 2009 - 12:35 pm

Dear Sean R…you are right…I think we, as Americans, are going to really speak up and speak out on election day…and it will be high time!

I know in so many of my posts prior to the election, I asked people to “clean house” on the Congress and vote the “slugs” out!

But they voted in record numbers the slugs back in and more of them…

‘IF YOU ALWAYS DO WHAT YOU ALWAYS DID, YOU WILL ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU ALWAYS GOT’

America…make note of these names that voted for this stimulus bill that will start taking affect next week. Make note if they are your representatives and went against your wishes…go against them with a frenzy and vote them out.

As to the “Fairness Doctrine”…the Nation of Islam’s Messiah is on his march to get a bill passed that will limit our voices. He is already sending his comrades out to the media to do his bidding prior to the release of his plan.

However, I believe they will use their devious means to hide it under a different name. They will not identify it with the old “fairness doctrine”…it will have a new name…perhaps it is already in this stimulus bill…who really knows at this point.

So be aware and alert to their trying to “slip under the door” something even more cynical and dangerous to the free speech we are afforded in our Constitution.

camilla paglia says....   February 14th, 2009 - 4:36 pm

Liberals have been pathetic flops on national radio — for reasons that have yet to be identified. Air America, for example, despite retchingly sycophantic major media coverage, never got traction and has dwindled to a humiliating handful of markets. The Democrats are the party of Hollywood, for heaven’s sake — so what’s their problem in mastering radio?

Instead of bleating for paternalistic government intervention, liberals should get their own act together. Radio is a populist medium where liberals come across as snide, superior scolds. One can instantly recognize a liberal caller to a conservative show by his or her catty, obnoxious tone. The leading talk radio hosts are personalities and entertainers with huge rhetorical energy and a bluff, engaging manner. Even the seething ranters can be extremely funny. Last summer, for example, I laughed uproariously in my car when WABC’s Mark Levin said furiously about Katie Couric, “What do these people do? Open fortune cookies and read them on air?”

The best hosts combine a welcoming master of ceremonies manner with a vaudevillian brashness. Liberal imitators haven’t made a dent on talk radio because they think it’s all about politics, when it isn’t. Top hosts are life questers and individualists who explore a wide range of thought and emotion and who skillfully work the mike like jazz vocalists. Talk radio is a major genre of popular culture that deserves the protection accorded to other branches of the performing and fine arts. Liberals, who go all hushed and pious at Hays Code censorship in classic Hollywood, should lay off the lynch-mob mentality. Keep the feds out of radio!
