Stimulus Bill: More Than $1 Million Per Day Since Christ’s Birth

"If you started the day Jesus Christ was born and spent $1 million every day since then, you still wouldn’t have spent $1 trillion," Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell claims.

“No taxes can be devised which are not more or less inconvenient and unpleasant.” –George Washington

An unlimited power to tax involves, necessarily, a power to destroy; because there is a limit beyond which no institution and no property can bear taxation.

John Marshall, McCullough v. Maryland, 1819

Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.

Thomas Paine, The American Crisis, No. 1, December 19, 1776

Our properties within our own territories [should not] be taxed or regulated by any power on earth but our own. Thomas Jefferson

We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt.

Thomas Jefferson, letter to Samuel Kercheval, July 12, 1816
“The same prudence which in private life would forbid our paying our own money for unexplained projects, forbids it in the dispensation of the public moneys.” –Thomas Jefferson

“[T]his is no time to throw good (borrowed) money after bad. If all this spending was going to get the economy growing, it would be working. Yet nobody expects things to improve soon. … In times of uncertainty, it’s natural that people will look to government for answers. Yet the long-term solutions to our current economic problems don’t lie in more government spending, controls or regulations.” –Heritage Foundation president Edwin Feulner

“I didn’t expect Obama to know what to do about the economy; Obama’s knee-jerk Keynesianism and allegiance to the disproved New Deal mythology ensure that he will try the Big Government solution, even when Big Government is the problem.” –columnist Ben Shapiro

Obama couldn’t even wait a single month before wrecking the economies that our grandchildren will have to pay back.

Never mind the fact that social security becoming insolvent without the help of all that debt.

Never mind that we are now printing money so far off the gold standard, that the American dollar will literally be worthless.

In one month, Obama seals the doom of the US.

It only took him and his corrupt, ignorant liberal
cohorts one single month to get the dominoes of our demise into place.

And here the liberals are….. continuing to yap about the Iraq war.

Could a single group of people EVER be more pathetically stupid?

I don’t get it. How can people like “N” be so utterly stupid?

N   February 4th, 2009 - 9:43 pm

Danny,

It’s so precious the way you and the other Republicans try to shift the blame for the Bush Depression onto Obama. Listen, Democrats are used to having to bail you guys out when you mess yourselves. Don’t worry! Dim son is gone. Have faith in The Anointed One. I know he will do a better job than that retarded chap, Bush.

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   February 5th, 2009 - 11:22 am

AMERICA…THE REST OF THE WORLD KNOWS THAT THE ‘BAILOUTS’ WE GAVE DIDN’T WORK AND THEY HAVE LEARNED FROM OUR MISTAKES – WHY CAN’T WE?
======================
2/5/09

Germany’s biggest lender, Deutsche Bank, on Thursday posted its first annual loss since World War II after a terrible fourth quarter but said it would survive the global meltdown without state aid.

In addition, Drudge, is also reporting today that Russia will not bail out their own banks!

======================

AMERICA WE ARE THE ONLY SANE ONES IN THE COUNTRY…THE PEOPLE IN WASHINGTON HAVE LOST THEIR MINDS.

GET ON THE PHONE…GET ON YOUR COMPUTER…TELL THEM NO…NO…NO…NO…TO ANY ‘MORE’ STIMULUS.

DO IT NOW…OR WE HAVE LOST OUR COUNTRY

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   February 5th, 2009 - 11:45 am

THE REPUBLICANS FINALLY ACTING LIKE LEADERS!
========================

Just saw Senator Lindsay Graham being interviewed and he came down strong on the Democrats and the President for lack of leadership.

That the Democrats are crafting this bill on their own and not listening to the rest of the Congress.

America…the Republicans are getting it. There are also alot of Democrats that are getting it…we don’t want any more monies going out.

We need to stand together and call/email your Senators and get them to know what “you” want…do it now!

THEY ARE LISTENING…THE CALLS AND EMAILS ARE WORKING TO GET WASHINGTON TO LISTEN TO WHAT WE IN THE HEARTLAND WANT…NO MORE MONIES SPENT!

N   February 5th, 2009 - 12:21 pm

Eileen,

Fear is something that the country has been battling with daily ever since this Recession, or Depression, started well over a year ago – but you should try to remain calm. Simply freaking out isn’t going to help the situation.

The reason Germany is not going for bailouts in the same we are is because they aren’t bankrupt like we are. We are very badly off.

Unfortunately under President Bush, the country’s national debt was doubled. Look at how under Bush, The SEC ignored the numerous warnings that have now made 50 odd billion dollars disappear under Madoff’s company. Now Bush’s adolescent need for a misguided war has probably finished this country economically – as the Iraq War is proposed to cost 3 trillion dollars when all is said and done. But we shouldn’t cry over spilt milk. Now that the Republicans have had their chance -and failed quite miserably. It’s simply time to have the Democrats try to minimize the unimaginable catastrophic damage of the last eight years.

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   February 5th, 2009 - 12:59 pm

Dear N…I don’t call informing the public of what is taking place and how to prevent it as…freaking out!

I am not freaking out…I am disgusted and speaking out!

I would hope that you would join with us who think this is a bad idea to throw any more good money after bad.

Have you called/emailed your Senators or are you just sitting by and hoping that things will straighten themselves out?

Yes it has been awhile since we learned of this during the first bailout. So have things gotten better since the first bailout? Have we learned from that mistake?

That is why there is such an urgency on doing something now…it has gone on too long and nothing seems to have gotten through to Washington…they are still taking us down the path of…the sky is falling…the sky is falling.

Okay…as I see it…we have two options:

1. Spend trillions of more dollars and mortgage our children/grandchildren’s future in the hopes the sky won’t fall.

OR

2. We can get control of our spending, tighten our belt and…spend no more monies in the hopes the sky won’t fall.

As a “freaked out citizen”…I opt for the latter!

Your stance displays only who you are…a socialist/communistic “new” Democrat who is taking us down the path of destruction!

America…listen not to the likes of “N”…call/email your Senators now and tell them NO>>>NO>>>NO>>> to any more of our monies being spent…we will take our chances!

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   February 5th, 2009 - 1:22 pm

Just a little overview on how the government spent our first $750 billion taxpayer dollars.
===================================

REPORTED ON BREITBART TODAY…2/5/09

WASHINGTON (AP) – A government watchdog group says the federal government overpaid for stocks and other assets from financial institutions under its $700 billion rescue program.

The chairwoman of the Congressional Oversight Panel for the bailout funds told the Senate Banking committee Thursday that Treasury in 2008 paid $254 billion and received assets worth about $176 billion.

America they need 60 votes to pass this monster of a bill.

Two Republicans are voting with the Democrats. They are Arlen Spector of PA and Collins of ME…call…email them and tell them they must stand united with the rest of their party.

This bill must not pass…it will not help our economy…it will destroy it!

In addition, to calling/emailing Collins and Spector…and if you haven’t done so already…call/email your Senators to say “no”!

They will not vote tonight, but it may be Sunday. You still have the weekend to get your voices heard.

The bailout did not help like they said…and this one won’t either.

These politicians are crazy…there is no way…no way…they can police this kind of money.

They lost millions of our taxpayer dollars in the bailout…don’t even know where it went…and we are to trust them again?

Let them give us a “tax holiday” where we pay no taxes out of our salaries…let US decide where it goes…we can keep track of that amount in our own pay.

Call/email…America…we need everyone to do it…I heard that the phones in Washington were inundated with calls…if the lines are busy keep calling til you get through.

CBO: Obama stimulus harmful over long haul
Wednesday, February 4, 2009
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/feb/04/cbo-obama-stimulus-harmful-over-long-haul/

President Obama’s economic recovery package will actually hurt the economy more in the long run than if he were to do nothing, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said Wednesday.

CBO, the official scorekeepers for legislation, said the House and Senate bills will help in the short term but result in so much government debt that within a few years they would crowd out private investment, actually leading to a lower Gross Domestic Product over the next 10 years than if the government had done nothing.

CBO estimates that by 2019 the Senate legislation would reduce GDP by 0.1 percent to 0.3 percent on net. [The House bill] would have similar long-run effects, CBO said in a letter to Sen. Judd Gregg, New Hampshire Republican, who was tapped by Mr. Obama on Tuesday to be Commerce Secretary.

Eileen for freedom/Liberty   February 7th, 2009 - 8:04 am

If you watched any of the Congressional discussions on CSPAN last night you heard the following:
==========================================
A GOOD AMENDMENT THAT DID “NOT” PASS…

Last night around midnight 2/6…an amendment was introduced that would have taken the “entire” stimulus package of over $800 billion and given it to American taxpayers who file taxes. It amounted to about $10,000 per couple and about $5,000 per individual .

Ten Thousand dollars could be used to buy a needed car, a down payment on a small house, pay off on a credit card… thereby getting directly into the system to stimulate our economy.

However, the amendment was defeated for good reason….because it was money that would have to be “borrowed”.

That wasn’t why it was defeated…it was really defeated because the Democrats would rather use the money for golf courses and water parks, etc.

ANOTHER AMENDMENT THAT DID PASS…

Another Amendment that was introduced was to “NOT” pay any monies (that amounts to millions of dollars) whatsoever to ACORN.

ACORN you remember was being investigated for illegal voting procedures that eventually put the new President over the top in the election.

The Democratic members resoundingly defeated that proposal.
===========================================

America…you need to watch this debates to know exactly what this bill is all about and how it will impact you.

Today, Saturday 2/7, they will begin on CSPAN 2 again at 11:00 a.m. est.

They will debate until about 3:00 pm est.

They don’t know whether or not they will meet again on Sunday, but on Monday they will begin again around 11:00 am est. to debate and then, perhaps, do the “VOTE” on Monday night.

Once they have a vote on a bill….they will conference with the House to debate.
=============================================

AMERICA……YOU MUST GET INVOLVED….THIS IS YOUR MONEY….THIS WILL BE YOUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN’S DEBT.

THE PHONES AND EMAILS ARE GOING OFF THE HOOK IN WASHINGTON BECAUSE “YOU” ARE CALLING/EMAILING…BUT WE NEED THE REST OF YOU TO DO YOUR PART FOR YOUR FAMILY…CONTINUE TO CALL AND EMAIL AND TELL THEM NO>>>NO>>>NO STIMULUS PACKAGE WHATSOEVER.

IF THE SKY IS FALLING EITHER WAY, WHAT DOES IT MATTER?

WE BORROW TRILLIONS AND PUT OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN IN DEBT AND TAKE A SHOT THAT IT WILL WORK – EVEN THOUGH THE BAILOUT DIDN’T

OR

WE CAN HANG TIGHT, TIGHTEN OUR BELTS AND WORK JUST ON HELPING THE HOUSING CRISIS THAT GOT US INTO THIS MESS IN THE FIRST PLACE AND TRUST THAT OUR SYSTEM WILL WEATHER THE STORM BUT WITHOUT ANY FURTHER DEBT!

==============================

AMERICA…WE ARE THE NECK THAT TURNS THE HEAD…IT IS HIGH TIME WE TURNED IT TOWARD THE AMERICAN TAXPAYER AND NOT A GOVERNMENT HANDOUT!

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   February 7th, 2009 - 9:26 am

1. If you are a Republican

2. If you agree that this stimulus package, is garbage and needs to go the way of the dinosaur

3. If you think the Congress should concentrate on a stimulus bill that concentrates solely on the “housing” crisis that got us into this mess

4. If you are disgusted that (3) Republican Senators are voting with the Democrats to get this bill passed

Then call/email:

Collins of Maine
Snowe of Maine
Spector of Pennsylvania

And tell them to stop playing politics with our children and grandchildren’s future.

Tell them how you feel about possibly being the (3) votes that may give the Democrats the 60 votes they need to pass this garbage!

America…I for one…have had enough. I agree with bi-partisanshhip, but not in this case.

This bill is too big and too burdensome for the American taxpayer to take on.

I have already emailed them, and I also emailed the leader of the Republican National Committee (RNC.com) to express my displeasure…please do the same.

The Republicans have continually expressed in these debates that they feel the only stimulus we should have is for the “housing” industry…I agree.

The “housing” industry started this mess and that is what needs to be fixed….not water parks, ACORN and golf courses.

America…we need to get real in Washington…there is no change…there is only status quo.

THE PHONES AND EMAILS ARE GOING OFF THE HOOK IN WASHINGTON BECAUSE ‘YOU’ ARE CALLING/EMAILIN

BUT WE NEED THE REST OF YOU TO DO YOUR PART FOR YOUR FAMILY…CONTINUE TO CALL AND EMAIL AND TELL THEM NO>>>NO>>>NO STIMULUS PACKAGE WHATSOEVER.

Financial Times (UK): Why Obama’s new Tarp will fail to rescue the banks
http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/9ebea1b8-f794-11dd-81f7-000077b07658.html

Has Barack Obama’s presidency already failed? In normal times, this would be a ludicrous question. But these are not normal times. They are times of great danger. Today, the new US administration can disown responsibility for its inheritance; tomorrow, it will own it. Today, it can offer solutions; tomorrow it will have become the problem. Today, it is in control of events; tomorrow, events will take control of it. Doing too little is now far riskier than doing too much. If he fails to act decisively, the president risks being overwhelmed, like his predecessor. The costs to the US and the world of another failed presidency do not bear contemplating.
