"I think that you can make a very credible case, and the economic team has, that reconditioning the National Mall will create jobs. Probably through spending in small businesses."

I’m a democrat. I voted for Obama. I’m embarrassed. This feels like the heavy hand of Nixon and the spending of Johnson.

Can we do this over?

CheLove   January 27th, 2009 - 8:20 pm

Obama’s change = more of the same.
Obama’s post-partisanship = agree with me or be quiet.

Any Questions?

THE $850 Billion Stimulus Plan(and counting) is nothing more than a payoff by Obama and the Democrats for votes received!

Union – JOBS and $$$ for votes delivered

ACORN – BIG $$$ (“neighborhood stabilization activities”)
for votes delivered

People who don’t pay income tax – “tax refund” checks (handout) for votes cast

Al Gore and his cohorts – provide FUNDS for an electrical grid for alternative-energy (so they can cash in on the SCAM)

IF YOU DON’T AGREE WITH THIS CORRUPTION CALL YOUR CONGRESS PERSON AND MAKE YOU’RE FEELINGS KNOWN!

Eagle Eye   January 27th, 2009 - 8:51 pm

The reconditioning of the mall would affect 1 in 30,000,000. people. that’s the change you can’t believe in

OBAMA SOCIALISM = STAR TREK SOCIALISM

GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY – SCHOOL OF LAW
Somin: Star Trek Presents Contradiction Between Socialism and Federalism
http://www.law.gmu.edu/news/2007/829

The popular television and motion picture series Star Trek helps perpetuate the illusion that we can combine government control of the economy with strong local autonomy and individual freedom, according to Professor Ilya Somin, writing in the National Review Online.

Mamas, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Federation Tax Collectors
National Review Online, September 28, 2007. By Ilya Somin.
http://www.nationalreview.com/category/?q=YjY0NjgxZTcyMmJkODRmYWRiYjc3MmE4YWRmOGZlZjk=

“Despite five Star Trek TV series and numerous movies, we still don’t know too much about federalism in the United Federation of Planets. How much power does the Federation’s central government have, and how much is left to the individual planets? Does the central government’s Star Fleet have a monopoly of military force, or do other planets have their own forces? Does the Federation subsidize planetary governments or are they fiscally self-sufficient? Unfortunately, the academic literature on Federation law isn’t much help either.

“It is easy to have fun with these kinds of speculations. The truth, however, is that the producers of Star Trek most likely didn’t even consider the possibility that there is a contradiction between the Federation’s socialism and its federalism. Just as they didn’t consider the contradiction between its socialism and its seemingly strong protection for personal freedom. The problem is not that Star Trek ideology is flawed in its treatment of these issues; it’s that Star Trek failed to take them seriously to begin with.”

I don’t see that reconditioning the National Mall will create a single new job but it will give the 20,000 existing federal employees now caring for the grounds an opportunity to lean on a shovel and not on a broom.

Democrats lauch petition against Rush Limbaugh!
Go to drudgereport.com and go to this site and click on the word launched. I can’t believe these idiots already want to take away our freedom of speech. Rush did not say what they are claiming.(this youtube is not the entire comment by Rush just the part they want you to hear) If they would listen to the whole comment they would realize Rush hopes Obama’s policies fail as do I. The democrats have said some of the most horrible things about President Bush for the last eight years and Rush says one thing and they want a petition. Come on you liberal idiots it’s called freedom of speech.

Wingside.

You’re probably right.

But, if any new jobs are created, they’ll be going to illegal immigrants.

WHY? WHO? WHEN?   January 27th, 2009 - 10:24 pm

Are they having to reseed the mall because of trampling by the crowd at the recent Inaug?

WHY would any “reconditioning” be necessary? Are they anticipating MORE such flamboyant exhibitions in the future?

WHOSE idea is this?

WHEN will they start putting forth some SOUND IDEAS for how to reboot the economy and ALSO help America, instead of all this self-serving B.S.?

OBAMANATION!   January 27th, 2009 - 10:54 pm

Smorgasbord   January 27th, 2009 - 11:47 pm

In keeping with the Democrat’s agenda, if the mall is redone, it should be by illegals only. That way more of them could afford to stay here and not run back home to Mexico because they can’t find work here. After all, the illegals are the backbone of the Democratic party.

saltnlemons   January 28th, 2009 - 5:15 am

Obama does not have America’s best interests at heart. He will run this great country into the ground like his people did to the Mall on Jan.20th! What a Joke! Pray People for America!

“The US Banking System is Insolvent”: Dr. Doom
http://www.cnbc.com/id/28888190

That was the opinion of economist Nouriel Roubini, of RGE Monitor, who was one of the first people to predict the housing crisis, speaking to “Squawk Box Europe” this morning.

Expected losses of about $2 trillion exceed bank capital of about $1.5 trillion, Roubini said.

Roubini had earlier said that total financial system losses could hit $3.6 trillion.

And “schemes” to just buy so-called toxic assets may not work, because the “risk is it’s going to take too much time to resolve the problem,” he added.

jbh50   January 28th, 2009 - 8:06 am

Let me get this right. BO’s resume of experience, when asked last year, was he successfully managed a large campaign. So why wouldn’t his team know enough to set aside part of the $154 million budgeted for the inauguration to clean up and “recondition” the mall?

Take it out of your own funds Obama!

Observer   January 28th, 2009 - 8:20 am

They’ve probably already spent the money cleaning up the garbage left on the ground by Wacky’s inaugurators.

I see I’m not the only one to have noticed the colossal, disgraceful mess left by people too stupid to pick up after themselves.

The Messenger   January 28th, 2009 - 8:39 am

If they would of picked up all the garbage Obama wouldn’t have anyone to vote for him in 2012 !

MayBill said it best.
This is just so stupid….and like it’s been said – after a few months maybe a year or so, you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone who will admit for ever voting for this empty, ignorant suit.
Lame duck for sure….

SHAME ON YOU CREEPS!   January 28th, 2009 - 7:27 pm

How about a “DAY OF SERVICE IN HONOR OF MARTIN LUTHER KING” and let all those ghetto-slobs who tore up the Mall come back and CLEAN and rehabilitate it???

doogle   January 28th, 2009 - 8:12 pm

Observer…yes, I saw the trash too.

The really sad part is that, along with the trash, a lot of American flags were discarded on the ground after the Obamanotics were finished with them.

Funny thing…I was on the Mall several years ago during a huge Cancer benefit. Aretha Franklin was there then too. She sang “Respect”. Too bad she didn’t sing it at the inauguration.
