NYDN: With water seeping into the plane, Sullenberger walked up and down the center aisle twice to make sure nobody was left before he fled the jet.

Captain – You are a better man, than me. I first, SAVE MYSELF, when I drive into the water.

Ya know, 2009 marks my 40th year of getting away with MURDER.

Flock of Geese killed 24 in Alaska 1995, these people are very fortunate to be alive right now.

22 September 1995; U.S. Air Force E-3 AWACS; Elmendorf AFB, Alaska: During takeoff as the aircraft was passing rotation speed, the aircraft struck about three dozen geese, ingesting at least three into engine two and at least one into engine one. The aircraft was unable to maintain controlled flight and crashed in a forest about 1 mile (1.6 km) beyond the runway. All 24 occupants were killed.

Knew he’d be an older pilot(Vietnam era)after hearing he had six years+ flying F-4 Phantoms.

Nice pic and good job, Sir.

yep… pilot did a great job… but … it was the extraordinary efforts of the professional flight attendants that prepared the passengers for ditching, that got the doors open and slides out, then evacuated all the passengers safely!

Thanks to cabin crews and their training. Without them no telling how many would have survived.

He was willing to go down with the ship. Thank God there are some real men left in this world.

Uhhh God had nothing to with this. This was all human courage and human design. So please. What if the plane had exploded and everyone died? Woo I bet NO mention of God then eh?

It takes away from the amazing skill and courage of the HUMAN pilot when people like you want to give credit to the invisible sky man for events like these. Please.

This guy is a true hero; not some over paid ball player who has the mentality of a donkey.

To the person who called God the invisible man in the sky:
Capt. Sullenberger did not mention God not one time. Yes, he is a very skilled trained superb pilot but it was the Hand of God that brought the plane down safely. There have been other skilled trained pilots just like ‘Sully’ who did not make it. For whatever reason, God did not allow this. But there should be the highest respect for our Loving God. And Sully and everyone on that plane should give God the glory!
