‘Not Ordinary Circumstances’: Bush Announces $17.4B Lifeline for Auto Industry

AP: Citing danger to the national economy, the Bush administration came to the rescue of the U.S. auto industry Friday, offering $17.4 billion in emergency loans in exchange for concessions from the deeply troubled carmakers and their workers. At the same time, Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson said Congress should authorize the use of the second $350 billion from the financial rescue fund that it approved in October to rescue huge financial institutions. Tapping the fund for the auto industry basically exhausts the first half of the $700 billion total, he said.

THIS IS IT!

BUSH = WEAPON OF AMERICA’S DESTRUCTION!!!

THIS IS JUST LIKE THE DUMB*SS DECISION TO GO IT ALL ALONE INTO IRAQ, FOR $20 BILLION THAT HE ASKED CONGRESS TO FUND. AND HERE WE ARE A TRILLION DOLLARS LATER.

NOW, BUSH THROWS HIS SHOE AT THE TAXPAYER AGAIN.

OK. I WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER BUY ANOTHER AMERICAN MADE US CAR THAT IS BUILT BY ANY UNION WORKER.

I WILL GET A JOB SELLING ANY FOREIGN MADE AUTO THAT HAS ANY CHANCE OF SELLING AGAINST THE AMERICAN MADE UNION AUTOS OF FORD, CHRYSLER, AND GMC.

I WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER TRUST ANYONE NAMED BUSH, AND WILL NEVER VOTE FOR ANY REPUBLICAN AGAIN.

BUSH IS JUST A FOOL. SURE, IF THEY DON’T MAKE THE DEMANDED CHANGES, THEY HAVE TO PAY US BACK THE MONEY. DUMMY,,,,IF THEY HAD THE DARN MONEY TO PAY ANYONE BACK, THEY WOULD NOT NEED A LOAN.

FOOL…….I ONCE THOUGHT THIS WAS A MAN OF PERSONAL STRENGTH AND INTEGRITY THAT JUST DID NOT SPEAK VERY WELL. I NOW KNOW HE IS JUST A DUMB*SS THAT DOES NOT FOLLOW LOGIC OR THE DEMANDS OF THE PUBLIC THAT PUT HIS WORTHLESS B**T IN OFFICE.

America…I am against the bailouts!

I was against the bailouts, like the majority of America, and told my representatives my opinion with no regrets.

They did wrong…starting these bailouts in the first place, and it has been proven that the financial industry deserves “no more funds”!

Our Congress needs to reconsider these bailouts and make them accountable to where they are spending this money.

The auto industry is different.

It is different first of all because they are taking a “loan”…not a bailout that will not be repaid.

It is different because there are millions of jobs on the line without this loan.

The auto industry has made major mistakes and they know it!

Allowing the Unions to run their companies was their first mistake.

Allowing the government to overly regulate them and paint them into a box as to what kind of cars they must build was their second.

They are an elephant because they have been around so long and it takes a long time to retool their plants to make a different kind of car to meet the government requirements.

They still continued to have the 50’s mindset about cars…different…innovative…but classy and big.

They tried to appease the general public to give them bigger and better while still trying to maintain the Union wages and the government requirements…they were stuck!

But I believe that President Bush made an executive decision. The Congress, the Union and the citizens should be glad he made that decision. It lets all of us off the hook and he will take the heat on his decision.

It is now up to the auto companies to make this right…for them…for America…and for the President!

They need to make major changes in the way they do things and how they do things…and they won’t have the usual timeframe on when to get those changes done…it was yesterday and they know it!

Give them a chance, America, I believe they can do it…I believe they will do it! We are a country of adaptable and innovative companies and people and it can be done…it will be done! They can then pay back the monies given to them as a loan!

Mark my words!
