Let’s steer away from politics, and try to focus on the real reason of this article. Technically, while I don’t agree with it, the supermarket is being to make the cake, and it’s not like the kid is Hitler’s reincarnate. On the other hand, the mother must have realized, or maybe she was drunk, that naming your kid ‘Adolf Hitler’ would lead to some ‘minor’ problems, to put it lightly. Who puts their middle name on a cake anyway? If Mom wants to have “Adolf Hitler Campbell” written on a cake go ahead and do it.

It’s not illegal, to have the name Adolf Hitler. The store should print the name on the cake. That’s our right as Americans to say whatever we want or name our children whatever we want. We don’t arrest people for having a certain name, nor do we discriminate against them. Regardless, of what the name is. It’s called free-speech, that’why our nation is free. This has nothing to do with Libs and Conservatives, there both really the same thing anyway.

As a Jewish Conservative, I have no problem with the market putting the young boy’s name on his birthday cake.

Parents bringing their children to the party, probably will raise a few eyebrows when they find out what the toddler’s name happens to be.

I’m sorry for the child being given a name of a monster. But people must be allowed to make mistakes. Even this one can be corrected later.

One thing we’ve learned is that freedom is very precious. We have to allow it for all in order to uphold our values as a society.

If it is free speech for the parents to name the kid after Hitler, isn’t it also free speech for the market to refuse to put the name on the cake. The market isn’t a part of the government so they are not restricting free speech. They can decide which services the want to provide, and I guess they choose not to put the names of mass murderers on cakes. They lose out on the money from that cake, and the parents have the choice of getting a cake through another market. Problem solved, quit whining–especially about violations of free speech when there have been none.

AlFranken you are an ass… You think abortion should be done away with… so great… do you think a woman should be forced to wait for an ectopic pregnancy to eventually kill her and her unborn child… because that will be what will be forced upon her if abortion is made illegal. I agree that if a medical professional should not be forced to participate in any procedure they don’t want to. I don’t think it right for a pharmacist to refuse a morning after pill… then they will think they can refuse to give a woman her birth control pill. What then, they should have the right to deny someone their diabetes medication?! You have to draw the line somewhere… of course that is not what this thread is about. It was about some ignorant racist to unfortunately stuck their three welfare babies with racists’ names and the poor little boy didn’t get his name on his cake (they only refused to put his name on it. They did not refuse to make the cake). I guess his parents being so ignorant couldn’t spell his name out themselves.
