Our cause has a new hero to worship. We’ll put him up there right next to Che, Louis Farakan, Malcom X, Hitler and Obama. Maybe we can even convince Our New Leader to declare a federal holiday for this newfound folk hero. Joan Baez or Country Joe & The Fish will write a song hailing him. We’ll even invent a new flavor of incense to burn…”Sole of Man”.

Umbasie Islam Williams   December 16th, 2008 - 10:12 am

I guess he’s going to be on the view and MSNBC is going to make him a host along with Keith.

Dr. Mary Pat Jordan   December 16th, 2008 - 10:14 am

The name for the new federal holiday praising this true man’s actions should be called “Loafer Day”.

Che' Che' Change Che' Che' Change   December 16th, 2008 - 10:22 am

Just remember not to judge all Iraqis by the actions of this one guy. He’s only one of 27 million stories. Of course it’s ok to judge all journalist by this one Che’ loving piece of garbage. Especially any New York Garbage the spring board of slavery and communism in this country.

media guy   December 16th, 2008 - 10:24 am

So, why didn’t the Secret Service guys just pull their pistols, walk up to him and shoot him in f-ing the face, as he deserved, after the 1st shoe was thrown?

Isn’t their job to protect the President?

Great job jerkfaces…now this sand flea is a “folk hero”

Sometime later…So the guy goes home and his kid says, “Daddy, all the kids at school wonder why you didn’t shoot this guy in the face”?

Daddy says, “I gave my Bullets to the UAW so they could commit suicide”

What an insult to the office of the President of the United States and the office of the Prime Minister of Iraq.

If this was doen to Saddam Hussein, he would have been killed on the spot. Now that they have their freedom, this is how they repay the U.S. who has sacrificied soldiers lives and billions of our dollars for them.

I don’t see them spending their oil dollars for their freedom, do you?

nilofc   December 16th, 2008 - 10:31 am

What an insult to the office of the President of the United States and the office of the Prime Minister of Iraq.

If this was done to Saddam Hussein, he would have been killed on the spot. Now that they have their freedom, this is how they repay the U.S. who has sacrificied thousands of our soldiers lives and billions of our dollars for them.

JHardyM   December 16th, 2008 - 10:34 am

WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE?????????? If a shoe was thrown at BHO there would be all sorts of crys for action, possibly worse. The way the MEDIA has been a part of this makes me, a true American, sick. When this country awakes it may be to late. A pox upon all of you.

R. Harris   December 16th, 2008 - 10:38 am

Now maybe we should treat these seditious swine that work for the domestic MSM to this sort of, ‘tough love’: “He has got a broken arm and ribs, and cuts to his eye and arm”

David   December 16th, 2008 - 10:42 am

If this guy is so brave or upset why did not he throw his shoes at a U.S. soldier. You know why , he was a greasy coward.

alppuccino   December 16th, 2008 - 10:46 am

George Bush has a great arm. I’d like to see him start beaning reporters with his shoes at press conferences.

That would be sweet.

longawaiting   December 16th, 2008 - 10:47 am

Makes me sick! Our clowns reporting anything but news and professing to be a news service while advocating “hate american” is more than i can handle. GUESS why you no longer have a tv audience.

Folk Hero? ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, NPR produce nothing but leftist propaganda. This shoe-icide attacker would be tortured beyond belief by Sadam and his sons for even looking cross eyed and our men and women have shed their own blood so that this SADR supporter could act out, sickening irony that the media will distort to fit their BDS paradigm.

bettendorfrapper   December 16th, 2008 - 10:58 am

Here we are once again with right-wing media mis-characterizing a story in the headline itself just to create the impression of so-called “liberal media bias.” Any thinking person can easily see that ABC News did NOT brand this Iraqi a folk hero; they just reported how much of the Muslim world regard him for his gesture. We really could do without this.

Gomezlefty Jones   December 16th, 2008 - 11:07 am

The next time I see BHO I should throw a shoe at him and see what happens. I bet the results would be different. But I will never get to see The Messiah so I can’t do that. Besides I pay so much in taxes I don’t have any shoes.

JJ   December 16th, 2008 - 11:10 am

HEY BETTENDOR…any thinking person can EASILY see that ABC News IS promoting EXACTLY what Al Jazerra would WANT to promote.

You idiot.

We could really do without YOU, BETTENDORFRAPPER. Climb back into your ignorant-box, you blind arrogant fascist-pig.

mandinkawarrior   December 16th, 2008 - 11:13 am

So much for the Bush Doctrine, and the right wing nuts that believe in it.

Barack Hussein Obama/2008/2012.

So if hitting someone with a shoe is so insulting—I think this IRAQI EMBICILE missed his point. This guy throws like a little girl!

He DIDN’T hit DUBYA! “W” is too quick. Nice reflexes Mr. President. Anybody else would have been nailed in the NOSE or LOST some teeth.

At least he didn’t duck and hide behind the PODIUM like a woman.

No HARM DONE and an insult to the ARABS–for MISSING the MARK.

Jerry Jones   December 16th, 2008 - 11:54 am

I wonder if this guy would have had the guts to throw a shoe a Saddam? I think not, he was probably an exile. I’m pretty sure he would be deep sixed but many of his relatives as well. Saddam was a nice guy. I miss Saddam….

mandinkawarrior   December 16th, 2008 - 11:55 am

I just hope Obama can make it the next four years without getting impeached. He just needs to keep a low profile and pay his friends/accomplices to keep their mouth shut. He still has plenty of money left over from the campaign. Go slow bro…

Smokey   December 16th, 2008 - 12:32 pm

Thanks ABC for the distorted story lionizing this creep with the shoe – however if it weren’t for ABC there would not be any jobs for homely flatchested news readers and parrot faced guy newsreaders who do not know what they really say.

Thinkpeoplethink   December 16th, 2008 - 12:39 pm

“”"”bettendorfrapper December 16th, 2008 – 10:58 am

Any thinking person can easily see that ABC News did NOT brand this Iraqi a folk hero; they just reported how much of the Muslim world regard him for his gesture. We really could do without this.”"”

Any thinking person can see in the background of the video the words “Folk Hero?” Next to the guys picture…

That same “thinking person” could easily figure out that by simply putting the words in the background (even in the form of a question), they’ve just asked the viewer “Do YOU think this guys is a folk hero?”

That’s like Catie Kouric saying “Some people think Bush is the devil and wants to eat your baby, email us and tell us your thoughts. “

mandinkawarrior   December 16th, 2008 - 12:44 pm

BTW Mandinka Warrior refers to my blackness and my roots as a proud black man, who is now liberated by my black president. My blackness is only transcended by my blackness which is really black. Excuse me while I retire to put on my Dashiki and sharpen my spear. MAN-DINK…get it?

railguy   December 16th, 2008 - 12:55 pm

It’s amazing how some people handle a little freedom…. Throwing shoes at authority, gathering in the streets in support of the guy that did it, investigating his treatment in custody, and having an opinion poll about how Iraqi’s on the street feel about it……. Yes, Mister President, Mission Accomplished!! Thank you!! I think history will show it was all worth it!

Lee   December 16th, 2008 - 1:04 pm

Just another Liberal teleprompter reader trying to further the mainstream media’s Bush bashing agenda!

Whatever will they do once the Chosen One takes office??

Robby Rob   December 16th, 2008 - 1:07 pm

These are the days I wish the ungrateful Iraqis still had Saddam as their ‘leader’. Had that reporter thrown shoes at Saddam, not only would the reporter suffer a long and slow death but anyone related to him would have suffered a long and slow death too. He called Bush a ‘tyrant’? A tyrant would have the guy killed! Bush laughed it off! What journalism school did this idiot go to?

Chris M.   December 16th, 2008 - 1:09 pm

“many of his countryman”… oh really, how many would that be. Three, maybe four ? As the press creates the story again…. you have got to be kidding me…. can I suggest “yellow journalism” ?

Jamesb   December 16th, 2008 - 1:14 pm

First a guy boards a trans Atlantic flight with bombs in his shoes, now we got a towelhead making a “symbolic attack” on our Pres., that helped deliver him the freedom to be an a$$****. When do say enough? Or, welcome to MSNBC!

To all Americans – left and right – this is the same man who cheered when the twin towers came down and over 3000 americans died. Lets get real – stop praising a man for attacking OUR president because it suits your cause to hate President Bush and the left. This is a slap to all of us. P.S.: Have a great Christmas and New Year President and Mrs. Bush

pwn   December 16th, 2008 - 1:56 pm

Do you really think this “journalist” would be given such glowing treatment if he had insulted the Lord God Obama? I can tell you now he would not.

Drano   December 16th, 2008 - 3:11 pm

From the story it looks like SandleBoy got the worst of it with a broken arm and some cracked ribs. The Iraqis know how to handle it even if the secret service doesn’t.

The big question is what were the Secret Service doing for their pay that day.

Is this an indication that Biden may be our next president in 09 if there is a real problem.

LaPlaca   December 16th, 2008 - 7:40 pm

Can you imagine if an AMERICAN would have burned a dummy of ALLAHU in effigy saying he hated the muslim religion, would ABC call him a Folk Hero if people agreed with him???? Why do the right wing news organizations always look at anything that happens to President Bush as a black eye on America. Good thing J.Kerry wasn’t president during the shoe throwing incident……he would have got his third “purple heart”??? ABC you’re the biggest joke in the news business, the liberal media is dead….long live the internet.

jandj   December 17th, 2008 - 11:56 am

TO ALL YOU BUSH HATERS CLINTON WAS IN OFFICE GETTING B.J’S WHILE THE TERROIST WAS PLANNING TO DESTROY THE TOWERS I APPLAUDE BUSH FOR BEING A GOD FEARING MAN AND NOT LETTING US GET HIT AGAIN BUT YOU OBAMA LOVERS WAIT BIDEN SAID OBAMA WAS GONNA GET HIT BECAUSE HE IS A WEAK MAN ALL HE WANTED WAS TO BE FIRST BLACK PRES BUT HE WON;T BE HE IS HALF AND HALF
