Arabs Rally in Support of Journalist Who Hurled Shoes at President Bush

CBS News: Thousands of Iraqis took to the streets Monday to demand the release of a reporter who threw his shoes at President George W. Bush, as Arabs across many parts of the Middle East hailed the journalist as a hero and praised his insult as a proper send-off to the unpopular U.S. president.

Why are we spending 10 billion a month on that country, why didn’t we just nuke it? Why is the U.S. Navy saying it will take more than military intervention to stop some pirates in rubber boats?

What has happened to this country?

Nuke them, sink them, buy American made shoes and screw these people. They can hate America all they want and live in squalor for all I care.

The background on this reporter is he hated America long before we invaded in 1991.

Redtide   December 15th, 2008 - 3:26 pm

Why do we even bother with these people? Where were the police after the first shoe was thrown?? Heck it could have been a brick/acid/bomb he was throwing! And the Iraqi’s are dancing in the streets for him??!! What a sad, sad country.

Lee   December 15th, 2008 - 3:29 pm

FACE IT — IT DOESN’T TAKE MUCH TO GET ARABS TO RALLY! DO CARTOONS RING A BELL??

DugFmJamul   December 15th, 2008 - 3:36 pm

This so-called Iraqi is ungrateful for the freedom that the US soldier (dying for that dirt bag) has provided him and his fellow country men to throw that shoe. This makes me beleive that the best thing for Western Civilization is for the US to get out of IRAQ now, let the SUNNI and SHI’A Muslims go to war (kill each other).

But I will pray the Muslims will leave Islam and join the body of Christ so this HORROR will STOP!

Jamesb   December 15th, 2008 - 3:38 pm

Were these the same people with table cloths for headwear that were dancing in the streets when the Towers were falling in N.Y.C.? You bet! Avenge 9/11!

revhatchell   December 15th, 2008 - 3:39 pm

a shoe is worth a million words!

greeted as liberators? nope.

on the way out maybe? nope.

well it was worth it to “spread freedom”

oh, and bankrupt the country since no country in the history of the world has cut taxes during a war.

sun tzu anyone?

Drano   December 15th, 2008 - 3:41 pm

Why, indeed, STEPHEN W, does the US navy seem to be paralyzed at the though of dealing with some Somali pirates in rubber boats and wood fishing boats? Only the Indian Navy seems to be dealing with it. The Brits only get involved if one of their ships is attacked. Maybe that is the right way to handle it.

We have lost our balls as a Nation and it is going to go downhill under Obamy per his statements that he will cut the defense budget when he takes office. Probably substitute group hugs with the pirates for dealing with them like our Founding Fathers did in Tripoli as common criminals.

Drano,

Bush believes in the US Constitution as mush as Muntazer al-Zaidi does, Bush the Globalist planed for the US economy to TANK (trillion dollar trade deficits, 10.6 million foreign workers, 38 million illegal aliens and non-citizens voting), and the US dollar to collapse (budget mismanagement) because he and his fellow Globalist want to establish the North American Union and that can’t happen until our economy and dollar collapses to the US is on par with MEXICO. Bush and his fellow Globalist will not be touched by this collapse.

Most Americans no longer believe in the US Constitution.

It’s interesting that the journalists in this clip referred to the act of throwing something “free speech”. Hello, it’s not speech when you throw something! It’s an assault. If he did this in the US, he would probably be charged with felony assault. I’d be interested to hear what the US Attorney’s office has to say about this, or what suggestions they might have for Iraq for suitable action.

Look carefully at how the Iraqi people responded. It reminds me of an embarrassing event we had in Los Angeles in 1992 with our Rodney King verdict, which resulted in much more violent and criminal public response. We were ashamed of our society’s flaws then just as Iraqi people are ashamed of their rouge journalist now.

Welcome to a free society, Iraq. Yeah, you have idiots in your ranks too, just like we do.

Arabs Rally for Anything   December 15th, 2008 - 6:50 pm

As long as the LOUD MOUTH ARABS can be heard they will rally for anything, this is not news.

minky   December 15th, 2008 - 7:00 pm

So where are the interviews with the Iraqis who weren’t celebrating the shoe throwing incident? Well, those interviews won’t be seen anymore than you will see interviews with any of the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis who DID greet the US as liberators.

We will, however, see interviews with Iraqis praising Obama. Just wait.

The real problem is this:

He should have aimed lower with the second shoe…
and…

Bulls-Eye!!!

Hmm…now what were they called….’they will always be little people’…–Lawrence of Arabia

President Bush was warned by many prominent leaders and many citizens not to go to war in that country…

Hope our troops can leave soon…

NonSense   December 15th, 2008 - 7:12 pm

Also… he should have used steel-toe cleats, for max damage.

But, sadly, we’ll never see Bush get hit by a shoe.

It was just a big tease.

Sigh.

To Big Willy,

Al Gore for his fake Global Warming. He is warming up to our own Muslim Prez Elec Barack Mohammad Hussein Obama. Enough Muslim names for you?

Its not just Arabs that support this guy! Freedom loving Americans do to! LIKE ME! F U BUSH!!!

Hey Rob,
You really don’t have any appreciation for REAL freedom. You don’t know what it means you worthless pantload.

No Sense   December 15th, 2008 - 7:21 pm

Let’s see Big Willie… Arabs invented the modern decimal number system. Arabs invented modern Astronomy. In 1999 An Arab won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry and an Arab won the Nobel Prize for Physics. Anymore ignorance need to be dispelled? I’m no fan of the Muslim faith, but I can’t tolerate ignorance.

Rob   December 15th, 2008 - 7:32 pm

hey Minky-
says you! real freedom means that I can make posts like this and stupid BUSH can’t do anything.

Airwick   December 15th, 2008 - 8:52 pm

No sense,
The Arabs also came up with the concept of zero (which led to the decimal system). Meanwhile our ignorant Christian brethren were counting on their fingers and toes to keep track of their “hail Marys”.

Arabs also managed incredible architectural, art, and medical achievements and managed to preserve many classical works of literature, philosophy, and history that would have been lost to us otherwise.

Ooops!

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   December 15th, 2008 - 11:36 pm

The people of the Middle East are a different breed. They go by different rules and regulations than other countries. That is why it is difficult to help them…they misconstrue everything.

I am most appalled by the reaction of the President laughing about it like it is nothing. It is something. This man has now rallied others against the President and America by this act.

I am not saying he should not be forgiving…but take it serious and just don’t laugh about it like it’s a joke…it was not!

Idiots in our country have done and said things against leaders who come to our country…so this is not unusual.

However, it is the responsibility of the Secret Service to protect the President…why is it they didn’t jump in front of the President when the first shoe was thrown?

When President Kennedy was shot the Secret Service immediately covered to protect him, as in the case of the attempt on President Reagan.

Where is the Secret Service…were they all in America…protecting the “Messiah of Islam”?

Jimbo   December 16th, 2008 - 8:16 am

For Chri$t sakes, they were only a couple of shoes! Should have been a couple of hand grenades! Would have been the best news in the world!

What an insult to the office of the President of the United States and the office of the Prime Minister of Iraq. This is an insult to America.

Liberals will not see it this way, because they subconciously despise the U.S.A.

If this shoe-thrower really hated the killings why didn’t he threw his shoes at Saddam Hussein before knowing that Saddam killed 500,000 of his own people?

What ingrate. We bought their freedom with the lives of thousands of our soldiers and billions of our dollars.

Did they ever spend their oil dollars for their freedom? I don’t think so.

Liberals will always rejoice in this incident because they like it that way. I mean, if you believe that murdering 1.37 babies in the womb per year is a right of women which should be protected in this country, then what do you expect from this Liberals but a group of people devoid of morals. What an evil generation.
