Why haven’t we learned that these folks in general, don’t like us? Why were over 4,000 brave American servicemen and women sacrificed to provide these clowns an elected government? Who cares? Why have tens of thousands of our soldiers been left maimed and handicapped for life? After Saddam was kicked out, the first thing these morons did was vote in Islamic fundamentalists are their representatives. These are the same type of characters who think it is just great to kill innocent people because of some crap written by another moron centuries ago.

Face it folks…Mr. Bush and his friends should have done their homework. Arabs, like all tribal peoples, like kings, despots, tin-pots, rulers, dictators and potentates. A representative government system is not in their culture, and probably never will be. It may have been a better idea to split up Iraq into three separate nations to satisfy the people there. Mr. Churchill screwed it up when he put together three factions together and formed Iraq.

I don’t care for Senator Biden and most of his ideas, but in this issue, he was right on. The tribes of Iraq need to be left on their own and do whatever they have done for millenia. To waste American lives and treasure for such backward people is not in our nation’s best interest.

Sure, I want our troops to come home in honor, yet there has never been set an attainable goal in this mess from the beginning. It only makes sense that before you start something, you should have a good idea of what the objective is ultimately. Clearly, our leadership failed miserably in this regard.

Trillions of hard-earned taxpayer dollars to fund this? And a moron throws his shoes at our president? What ingrates! When we leave, give them time, and another Saddam will emerge. Apparently, Saddam knew what he had to do to keep these animals in line. Pretty sad, but when you live in such a place, one has to learn what it takes to keep things under some degree of control. You can’t change their culture, their belief system or religion. It’s better to stay away and let them run their own affairs entirely.

Bring our fine soldiers home quickly and safely, in victory if at all possible. Without a clear cut objective, like we had during WW2, I don’t see how that’s actually possible.

I hope we’ve learned our lesson that American forces should never be committed to fighting overseas without the Congress declaring war, as stated in the Constitution. Have we noticed that every war we’ve had since then has been largely a failure? The American people didn’t want this war and their representatives were too weak to oppose it in the aftermath of 9-11.

Perhaps we will learn, eventually.

If we had planned, years before, for the effective use of alternative energy this part of the world would have been of far less strategic importance to us than it is now. As such, we’ve become mired in their politics and culture, trying to reach almost impossible goals and, in so doing, creating more havoc despite our official good intentions.

Semi-officially, the Iraq invasion was about planting our stamp in a militarily and economically strategic location in order to be in a better military position to handle situations in Afganistan and Iran and, perhaps, elsewhere in the region. To, perhaps, start the concept of democracy, in a manner that may undermine the kind of culture that seemed to breed terrorists. To create a stable oil pricing situation. To place people in the intelligence department in areas where they can be a lot more effective than previously for the purposes of gathering intelligence on our perceived enemies in the region, and more.

In actuality, the war was ill planned and, as such, took years before our people became effective. This caused tremendous loss of life and major increases in the costs involved.

History will be the judge of what effect this war will actually have; it’s too early to tell now. But, for the man throwing the shoe, who probably has seen too much pain, suffering, damage and death, it wasn’t worth it after all. We may find that to be true eventually, too.
