Guy Swipes Reporter’s Mic During iPhone Live Shot

Moments after FNC reporter Laura Ingle said, "We're going to need some security around here," a man ran up and grabbed the mic -- not the iPhone -- during a live shot with Newsweek columnist Steven Levy outside an Apple Store in NYC.

Could it be the person was just trying to shut Faux News up.. and not obsessed like so many people with a mobile phone??

Tony   June 29th, 2007 - 12:12 pm

I nominate the idiot for the dumbest crook of the year award. I hope he got a beatdown or arrested for his stunt.

bob   June 29th, 2007 - 12:17 pm

Why should he get arrested? It looks like the wrestled it away anyway.

Besides, stopping the propaganda porno channel isn’t the worst thing in the world. Also, the iPhone isn’t news. Paris Hilton is, didn’t you get the memo?

It’s not like there’s a war going on or anything.

John   June 29th, 2007 - 12:32 pm

Fox “News” should be removed from the air. Fox is nothing but republican propaganda much like the Nazi effort. I applaud this young man’s actions. Fox news must be stopped by any means. I hope this sparks similar efforts where people shut these Fox “news” people up.

Bill O'Rilley   June 29th, 2007 - 12:36 pm

Good, we need new mics!

Bill

Vonster   June 29th, 2007 - 12:37 pm

Could it be that mediaguru is an asshat lib hater?

uh huh.

J.D.   June 29th, 2007 - 12:38 pm

Disagreeing with FoxNews is one thing; trying to destroy freedom of the press is something entirely different.

Unfortunately, too many liberals don’t see the difference. They’re digging their own graves and they don’t even know it.

But this is how the political left has operated for well over a century. They can’t compete through the power of ideas, so they seek to silence those with whom they disagree.

Jeff   June 29th, 2007 - 12:40 pm

“Could it be the person was just trying to shut Faux News up?” – Are you saying that if this was the case, it’s ok, because Fox News needs to be silenced due to it’s perceived political bias? Would it be okay then for the other side to start physically attacking outlets like CNN and MSNBC for the opposite? “Faux” news… Please.

Juan De Fenceopper   June 29th, 2007 - 12:52 pm

When socialists get backed into a corner they try to silence those who expose them.

The people that hate Fox news are much like those who hate free speech. If you do not agree with them, they sink to the lowest of humanity and act like thugs and creeps.

But to them its OK, they have so much hate of others. That how they justify it. They have to hate, if not they would see themselves for their own actions.

John   June 29th, 2007 - 12:57 pm

Regardless of the news organization it is still battery and theft. He deserves to be treated the same way as a purse snatcher.

Lettterman   June 29th, 2007 - 1:04 pm

Clearly the guy was not trying to steal the microphone. He was trying to steal the iPhone. If you look carefully, he was trying to grab the iPhone and grabbed the microphone by mistake. The microphone and the iPhone were touching one another. He was trying to grab the iPhone.

Kent   June 29th, 2007 - 1:09 pm

Boy, how does this site attract so many Stalinists? The way to deal with a news outlet you don’t agree with is to engage in criminal acts. How about turning the channel. Are you people really so scared of information that you don’t agree with. What a pathetic bunch of losers – “Mediaguru” “Bob” and “John”

newsguy   June 29th, 2007 - 1:20 pm

John, if FOX is so bad, then how come they have the highest ratings in the country? People who pull stunts like this only further their ratings! Murdoch has a good thing going here! He’s making a lot of money off of FAIR news!

AD   June 29th, 2007 - 1:24 pm

The problem with so many people is they look at an organization and decide if an action is right based solely on weather they like that organization or not. “Freedom of the press” is not “freedom of the press to say only what you want to hear”. “Freedom of speech” is not “freedom of speech that you agree with”. So many have ideas that they cannot defend so they just respond by saying “shut up”.

drew   June 29th, 2007 - 1:26 pm

haha, awesome.

fox “news” isn’t media, it’s propaganda.

these kinds of stunts crack me up!

tim   June 29th, 2007 - 1:29 pm

That was funny. He was just making waves…

Steve   June 29th, 2007 - 1:30 pm

Hahaha. That guy deserves some kind of reward for messing with Fox News. I’d like to see more of that happening.

Glade   June 29th, 2007 - 1:33 pm

Its not a stunt, its a crime.
If this cracks you up,drew you need to grow up, and lay off the Kool Aid.

John   June 29th, 2007 - 1:37 pm

Fox “News” is not simply speech that is disagreeable but instead its hate speech and therefore unprotected by the first amendment. Most conservatives are currently engaged in hate speech of some kind. The many examples include racist anti immigrant speech and anti gay rights speech. Fox “news” type hate speech will hopefully be outlawed in a court decision that will put him and rush limbaugh sean hannity ect. out on the street where they belong. Cheers to this brave young man for protesting these haters.

drew   June 29th, 2007 - 1:38 pm

right quick, Glade – that’s a dictionary definition of the word stunt. you do own a dictionary, don’t you?

it’s not like they were reporting on anything important anyway. that’s what’s known as a fluff piece, filling up air time so they can still sell ads.

ZoneDaiatlas   June 29th, 2007 - 1:59 pm

Some of these losers who bash Fox News because Fox News don’t share the same Stalinist view point like PMSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS and NBC do… Liberals believe that Free Speech only implies to them and that silencing other speech is not fascism when they do it…

Jack M. Hoff   June 29th, 2007 - 2:05 pm

Only Clinton Scum hate Fox. They can’t win the argument so let’s use “Fairness” to shut them up.

Sean Dreacraft   June 29th, 2007 - 2:06 pm

Freedom of the press must be upheld. On the other hand, such freedom can only apply to individuals and not corporations and their minions.

Corporations=Stalinism with better suits and slicker PR.

kent   June 29th, 2007 - 2:23 pm

I love it. The nitwits who love what this guy did stealing the infobabes microphone, justify it because Fox is “hate speech”. So their response – criminal violence. These are the same people so devoid of the ability to articulate a rational thought that they storm the conservative speakers at college campuses and assault the speakers. These people are not Americans. They are Bolsheviks who are crying because the USSR cracked up. Cheer up – Putin is putting it back together. Go back to your MotherLand.

Wilis   June 29th, 2007 - 2:25 pm

Hate is what drives the left and these actions. they are blind to what their own party does. You don’t like news programs that have actual debates between left and right? Then you most certainly tune in to MSNBC One comment was what about the war going on? The left has been in power to supposedly stop the war in Iraq for almost seven months now. Why has the only vote been to have a timetable to withdraw before the election? Why didn’t they vote to end it as soon as they were voted in? It is all about politics. They don’t care about anything but power.

Stephen   June 29th, 2007 - 2:26 pm

Mediaguru – I don’t doubt that this pinhead was trying to shut FOX NEWS up because it’s fairly typical of liberals to be highly intolerant of a dissenting opinion while simultaneously defending their rights to commit treason against out country. It’s a shame that this guy is so intolerant of things like free speech or even free thought for that matter (’fairness’ doctrine anyone?) Liberals have become the very tyrants they claim to hate and this intolerant act which is being lauded by the intolerant bigots (liberals) of this country is simply an illustration of the decay of that side’s intellectual honesty and integrity (if it ever even existed at all). I hope they lock that idiot up for stron-armed robbery.

james   June 29th, 2007 - 2:43 pm

He said “give me the f*@king mic, you f*@king messengers of evil……”

I guess as well as battering/assualting Karl Rove with rocks Democrats are willing to resort to theft to further their socialist agenda….

Democrats are very useful idiots.

Yes, because God forbid anyone be forced to deal with any sort of conflicting fact or opinion that would force one to examine one’s own tightly held beliefs and possibly open up any sort of dialogue, debate or (the horror!) possible compromise.

The irony of the original commenter comparing Fox to the “Nazi effort” and then encouraging individuals to stop them by “any means” doesn’t go unnoticed either. Maybe you can start your own media blitzkrieg. That’s so much easier than actually thinking or being “tolerant.”

Robko   June 29th, 2007 - 3:08 pm

No, a crime is sending 3,500 soliders to DIE for NOTHING.

Stephen   June 29th, 2007 - 3:12 pm

Liberals need to cool it with the whole nazi thing because the nazis were in fact vegitarian atheists that championed socialism in germany and chose to see people through the prism of racism, just as liberals do today. The constant invocation of comments like ’seig heil’ to try and prove some vapid point about their view of conservatives only illustrated their profound ignorance and stupidity. Grow up and read a history book.

joe   June 29th, 2007 - 3:24 pm

hahahaha
I would love to do that. That was really funny. Nothing is funnier than when someone ruins a TV reporters live spot.

John   June 29th, 2007 - 3:37 pm

lmao Fox News is not hate speech.

No matter how much you cry and kick and stomp your feet, it simply does not make it so. Just because it worked when you were 4 and wanted ice cream, doesn’t mean it will now.

Robko   June 29th, 2007 - 4:24 pm

Steven, no person is easier to fool than one as yourself who is so smugly confident in his own intellectual sophistication.

How are Republicans are like Nazis?

1. Wrap themselves in the national flag and invoke the name of God to justify and rationalize their position

2. Use fear as a tool to gain and hold power

3. Question the patriotism, motives, and sanity of political opponents

4. Consolidate power in the executive branch

5. Get others to break the law for you

6. Enter into corrupt arrangements with large corporations to maintain and consolidate power.

“When Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross” – Sinclair Lewis

Mando   June 29th, 2007 - 4:30 pm

Boo hoo, some kid pulls some stunt and all of a sudden conservatives are crying about being censored and persecuted. waaaaaaaaaa.

Alcarillo   June 29th, 2007 - 4:33 pm

“joe”, if you think you actually had a pair, then go do it. Enjoy time spent with some close friends in jail, too. Bet that’ll be real funny, too. haha.

Ass.

cobalt   June 29th, 2007 - 4:36 pm

Looks staged to me. First the reporter prompts “we may need more security,” then she holds the mic way out, and takes a step back to make room for the guy to grab it – a guy who just happens to be wearing a generic TV disguise of baseball cap and sunglasses.

Looks like a publicity stunt for the youtube generation.

John   June 29th, 2007 - 4:37 pm

once we solidify gains in the house and senate and gain the presidency in ‘08 we will then be able to pass hate crimes legislation. Then people like Ann Coulter, rush limbaugh sean hannity and their ilk can be rounded up and jailed. Propaganda outlets like foxnews can then be legally shuttered.

George Washington   June 29th, 2007 - 4:38 pm

How are Democrats like Nazis?

1. Wrap themselves in the United Nations flag and invoke humanism and environmentalism to justify and rationalize their position.

2. Use intimidation and fear to destroy opponents.

3. Accuse political opponents of racism and intolerance.

4. Consolidate power in the judicial branch

5. Get others to break the law for you, and then have them murdered when they have outlived their usefulness.

6. Enter into corrupt arrangements with union bosses, billionaire liberal financiers, and hollywood elitists to maintain and consolidate power.

When Fascism comes to America, it will cloaked in the disguise of diversity, multiculturalism, and the “Open Society”.

T   June 29th, 2007 - 4:47 pm

Look at how well written all of the conservative comments are on here. I wonder if that means anything.

drew   June 29th, 2007 - 4:53 pm

don’t worry, Republicans will be voted out by an overwhelming majority quite soon…

Stephen   June 29th, 2007 - 5:04 pm

I want whatever drew’s smoking, perhaps he’s unaware of the miserable approval numbers that both parties are getting. Plus, since when has 51% been an overwhelming majority? Lay off the shrooms dude.

robko   June 29th, 2007 - 5:12 pm

Speaking of free speech…thanks for censoring my obscenity-free post Briebart.

Bob Martin   June 29th, 2007 - 5:21 pm

John, Hugo, et al:

Calling this network Faux News is “cute”, but ignorant. It is news sources like them, and not CCN, MSNBC, etc. that are giving the American people some balance to the $%^&* that has been spewed on the networks in favor af anything liberal for the past 20+ years.

Bet you’re iin favor of the Fariness Doctrine, heh?

You’re a nut case… and nothing can forgive the idiot who tried to silence this reporter by stealing her mic!

And if this is indicative of the tactics to be used by liberals for the next election, get ready for another Republican to be in charge of the country.

Right on!

Travis Hyde   June 29th, 2007 - 5:32 pm

So, for me, I’m not too big into politics. But if I was, I would be moderate looking towards the Right.

I’m tired of Liberals, all I have seen on the news is how they bash this and bash that and anything republican, and yet, since they have been elected and have control of congress, What have they changed??? Nothing, they have accomplished NOTHING. They have already lied about their campaign promises. They were just saying what they should say to get people to vote for them.

I guess that shows how gullible Americans really are. It’s quite sad.

BTW

The guy was trying to steal the iPhone and mistakenly grabbed the microphone. I’m sure if you were about to steal an iPhone in front of millions, your adrenaline would be through the roof and would make the mistake.

Liberals, stop the crap, and Make America BETTER.

btw, 3,500 soldiers have not died for nothing. They are giving Iraqi’s freedom. Hmmm.. I wonder how many soldiers died for our freedom from the British? That is what it takes to make the world safe and keep islamic extremists and terrorists out of our country.

Hey Liberals, go up to a soldier when he/she gets home and tell them to their face that they went to Iraq or Afghanistan for NOTHING.

See how fast your butt gets dropped to the ground.

Karenina   June 29th, 2007 - 5:55 pm

You liberals are a hilarious bunch.

Silence free press and free speech. I guess I would be upset too if I had been fed liberal propaganda for the past 100 years and a new network infiltrated the airwaves with an opposing view.

It’s okay. I know you guys are mad because you are finally being challenged on your ideas, and your ideas are failing (see Fox News Network ratings).

Maybe the government will save you with your “fairness doctrine”.

You hope!

But, as we saw in N.O., those that put all their faith in the government beast will be sorely disappointed.

Russ   June 29th, 2007 - 5:59 pm

Fox News is fine. No worse that other cable/network broadcasts (perhaps better, if you look at the ratings). It cracks me up that John wants them off the air; hate speech, he said. Yikes! Sounds like the same Fairness Doctrine crud being pushed by liberals. Actually, I’m for the idea, but it has to flow both ways. If the radio talk show conservatives have to give kudos to liberal thinking, then we need to make sure half of all news reporters support conservative candidates, instead of the nine out of 10 that support liberal candidates.

As for the jobless goon that stole the mic: assault, theft…. lock him up.

As a lifelong Democrat I can say that I am becoming as concerned about the loons on the far left as I am at those on the nut right.

I hate that anybody in this country would think that is okay, or even funny, to try shut down those that you disagree with by violent force or intimidation. Have these crazy people ever even read a single history book?

We are not supposed to be about forcing others to say what we want them to, we have fought bloody wars so we wouldn’t live in a society like that, remember?

Frankly as a proud Democrat I am getting sick of being painted with you nuts that think assault on a newsbabe is a valid form of political expression. We go down this road and what are you gonna do when the SS comes for you cause they don’t like they way YOU think?

Why are you nut jobs so afraid of Fox News anyway? Ever watch it? I love that Fox presents both Republican and Democrat guests in open debate. Heck the Democrat wins like 9 times out of ten anyway.

If you listen closely he interupted the segment by offering a thousand dollars for the phone and the reporter brushed him off and said they would need extra security. The guy got mad, which is why he says,”don’t [expletive deleted]ing mess with me”.

scott cornette   June 30th, 2007 - 12:10 am

Hey Robko:

Have you ever worn the uniform of our Armed Services for even a day? You say 3500 soldiers have died for nothing. Why do you say nothing? I wish there were absolute, conclusive, anywhere close to sensible reasons you’d say “nothing” but we both know there isn’t. The fact is it’s what you feel and that’s what comes spewing out. As far as I’m concerned you’ve disrespected me having worn the uniform for 10+ years and every soldier who has made the ultimate sacrifice. Myself and others whom have served and are currently do so because we’ve taken an oath. That oath doesn’t incorporate a disclaimer stating if we disagree with something all is null & void. I wouldn’t begin to explain what the oath entails for you due to the question marks likely to appear over your head. Stick to your insane Nazi-Republican analogy.

Jesse Smith   June 30th, 2007 - 12:42 am

Liberal hypocricy meets a new low. In response to those who posted idiotic comments like the one below:
