Sharp man! The duty of the POTUS is to faithfully execute the laws of the US and protect it against all enemies foreign and domestic.
The heart of our law is the Constitution. I hope that Mr. Obama restores it from the disaster than GW took away.
As a conservative, I found GW to be a tremendous embarassment. “I am the Great Decider!” Nonsense! You were elected to serve. You became paranoid and power drunk and as a result over 4,000 fighting men and women are dead and countless numbers of Iraqi citizens, and for what? We haven’t even got an oil concession out of the deal! Why don’t we at least require the Iraqis to reimburse the US taxpayers and the families of our fallen soldiers for their efforts and supreme sacrifice? How about the thousands that are injured and never will be the same. Where is the support for them?
I am worried about anyone using the term “rule” in terms of the POTUS. It will be a difficult time, yet I am hopeful this young president will rise to the occasion and genuinely lead. Perhaps he will surprise us in a positive way.
If he is seated as POTUS, and even that is not certain given the controversy over his birth certificate and circumstances of birth, I believe he will be forced by necessity to govern more toward the center. Even Bill Clinton learned this lesson well. Tremendous presure will be upon this new president from all sides. If he screws this up, then people will turn from him as fast as they followed him in lockstep.
The pendulum has swung to the left now. I’m concerned about what will happen after he has left the office. A dictatorship in the US? I don’t think so. There are too many folks out there that are armed to the teeth and our military embrace ethics to a much bigger extent than the current POTUS.
We should give Obama a chance first. He may not screw everything up that bad. He’s our president, and we should support him. Take the high road, and give him more respect than the left gave W.
But if obama starts “nationalizing” large segments of the economy, and restricting free speech (encouraging the so-called “fairness doctrine”) then we should unload on him.
This is a country founded on the principles of individual liberty, limited government, and the free market. That is what has led to the most prosperous nation in the history of human civilization. Anyone who tries to detract from that deserves nothing but our utmost contempt.
As concerned citizens, here is what you can do to prepare yourself:
1. Food storage: have at least a 3-month supply of perishables, and 1-year supply of long term foods (rice, wheat, dry milk, canned foodds)
2. Stock up on other goods: this means items that you will need, but could shoot up in price, like shoes, clothes, motor oil, detergent, etc.
3. Invest in commodities that will never be worth zero like gold or silver.
4. If you are so inclined, buy a gun while they are still legal. If you own guns already, stock up on ammo. Ammunition will be the next item under attack by Nazi Pelosi and Harry Reid. They do not have to take your guns if they can ban ammo or make ammo to expensive to buy.
5. Vote Libertarian, the only real party that still believes in Liberty.
Bush got the ball rolling toward smashing our freedoms; now Obama will finish the job, only he’ll do it much faster since he has such perceived popular support.

Why didnt anyone see this coming? I voted for McCain because I did not want a President who would be King. Those resources that man does consume, such as oil, rise in price incrementally (ceteris paribus – i.e. not accounting for environmentalist wacko restrictions and supply disruptions) thus signaling a need to transfer to alternative goods. The reason the world switched to oil in the first place was because of the comparatively higher cost of kerosene. The final permutation of man’s energy needs are solar and finally fusion.
The imperative of “adapt or die” is one that is constant throughout history, and does not change because man is “civilized.” If the earth warms due to solar-fueled global warming, man must adapt. This constant drive on the left for stasis in man’s relationship to the environment and in the economy is the ultimate in reaction; conservatives want “change” or improvement due to the increase of knowledge, scientific progress, and peace through strength and democratization (by example, preferably). To plunge the world into chaos through disruptive and historically disproven policies is not exactly my idea of “intelligent.”
