Did I miss something? How does the fact that same sex couples can wed “ruin” anything? Nobody wants to force churches to perform ceremonies they disagree with on a theological level. We just want to be viewed equally in the eyes of the state. If this “ruins” your marriage, then it is probably not resting on a very strong foundation to begin with.
There is a fundamental truth here that these angry folks are overlooking: Marriage is NOT a right. You have to qualify in order to get a license. Minors can’t marry. Siblings can’t marry. Parents and children can’t marry. Married people can’t marry again. The opposition of these forms of marriage is never viewed in such angry, hateful terms. The question of “rights” never enters into it.
The ones denied rights are the children of same sex couples who are denied the right to have both a mother and a father. Where’s the compassion for them?

Thank you lib-les. As a boy growing up in Arizona, I admired Senator Goldwater- an ardent conservative and proponent of gay rights. As a young man voting for REagan, I felt proud to be a part of the conservative/Republican tradition. Today, I’m not sure where I stand anymore. I check this site regularly b/c bb reports on a lot of things the msm neglects to mention but I am saddened to see that the Republicans have chosen to appeal to the backwards intolerant hicks that apparently roam this site while taking for granted the intellectual conservatives that started the Reagan revolution. I have been watching California closely these past weeks and it seems that people have not realized that history really does repeat itself. I am 82-years-old. I am happily married to my wife of 34 years and she is African-American. I was born in Slaughter, Louisiana where a marriage like ours was, for a long time, not permitted. As a signatory to Proposition 8, PFOX is sad to say that we are not totally surprised at yet another display intolerance and violence perpetrated against any person who dissents from the gay party line. Gay rights activists have now targeted churches that supported traditional marriage and Proposition 8. (See story below.) Vandalism against yard signs in support Proposition 8 became so rampant that organizers suggested that citizens not leave the signs out overnight. The Mayor of San Francisco bluntly told the 61% of Californians who voted to maintain traditional marriage in 2000 that same-sex marriage was here “whether you like it or not.â€
Only last month PFOX issued a release that reported ex-gays and their friends are routinely intimidated, bullied, and even fired from their jobs. (Just as gay activists demanded of Senator Barak Obama for having an “out†ex-gay sing at his fundraiser.) All the usual suspects in the pro-gay activist community immediately ridiculed our accurate statement as outrageous and a fabrication. We were in fact were being called liars. We received phone messages calling us “f**ing idiots.â€
Last summer when one of our own volunteers in our booth at a public fair was assaulted, again we were called liars by gay rights activists. Even though the local Arlington County police department confirmed the assault, an apology was never issued and the false statements continued to be repeated even to this day.
As Mark Twain once quipped, “A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.†Today, it is all too apparent that the Gay Party intends that only their distorted version of the truth should even have shoes.

By the way, I have had many boyfriends because I am a Catholic and did not want to live a lifestyle I once considered sinful.
