Democratic policies result in a regressive tax. To the Obots this means that when you limit oil drilling, refinery, coal production, and mandate ethanol it raises the price of food and energy. Food and energy have extremely steep price elasticity curves, so a 5% increase in demand has had a 120% increase in the price of oil. So a family that has a household income of $40K and spends $50 a week on gas that equates to 6.5% of their gross income.
If a family that ears $120K a year also spends $50 a week on gas equates to $2.17% of gross income. If due to policy gas doubles in price the family earning $40K is hit with an effective tax of 6.5% while the other family has a 2.17% tax. Not to mention the push inflation as a result of higher food and energy costs. Core inflation hurts middle and lower income families and democratic policies are very detrimental to core inflation.
The Clinton presidency benefited from falling oil prices due to Gulf War 1 in which Saudi and Kuwait ramped up production and oil was under $20 pb for much of the last half of the 90’s. Energy prices without question is the most important factor for our economy. Every recession is a direct result of higher oil prices. Google it.
Lower income people vote democratic on a higher percentage but their policies have a negative impact on their economic situation. Look in a free market society there is a disincentive for the market to have poverty. Wealth is created and thus the poor usually are not contributing to the wealth they draining the wealth. I can’t believe how intentionally ignorant the left is regarding free markets. If 99.99% of the population worked as hard as I there would be no poverty.
Alternative energy is the single most important industry for the economic security of the US. Our energy policy has been high jacked by lobbyists and both parties have done a very poor job.

What is Barack Obama? I voted for Nader because I’m a true independent, convinced the dems and repubs are both responsible for the mess this country is in. And the problem can’t be the solution. But when the pendulum swings way far to the right as with eight years of Shrub, then it naturally will swing way far the other way to the left. But one of these days us centrists are going to get control and fix this country. I’m hoping Obama is one of us, but I’m not holding my breathe. For Obama to get where he is, he probably had to drink the dem koolaid, but maybe he didn’t swallow.
