You stay classy, Philly.

Ritty77   November 1st, 2008 - 12:54 pm

I am a lifelong Phillies (not Philadelphia) fan, but this was inappropriate, to say the least.

What a ...   November 1st, 2008 - 1:00 pm

I guess some ball players have only one mode of verbal communication…dugout language.

I’m sure that the parents with their kids in the in the stadium listening were real grateful for the obscenity…but then again it appeared that most of them were cheering…go figure.

Utley may now have a World Fu*king Championship trophy on his mantle but don’t count on there being any Roll Model trophy next to it any time soon.

Where’s mom and a bar of soap when ya need her?

Barry   November 1st, 2008 - 1:08 pm

Only in Philly! We don’t let that kind of talk get out in the south!

Daniel   November 1st, 2008 - 1:15 pm

“that kind of talk” doesnt “get out” in the South. Hmmm….Bob Knight of Texas Tech doesnt “get out” on live TV shows (ESPN interviews)? Please. This was wrong in any corner of our nation. Its unprofessional. That said, it shouldnt tarnish a team full of stand-up guys such as Lidge and Howard. Congrats to the Phils…they smoked the Rays.

paul   November 1st, 2008 - 1:22 pm

where have you gone Joe Dimagio? no class, the league should fine him and make him do a public apology…he should be made an example of ….

KL   November 1st, 2008 - 1:52 pm

I wonder if he votes.

Nate K   November 1st, 2008 - 1:54 pm

Sounds like a philadelphian to me. No news here

piker   November 1st, 2008 - 2:08 pm

Wow! What a classy act.
goes right up there with Lou Gherig’s “luckiest Man farewell speech”…not.

mark   November 1st, 2008 - 2:17 pm

ya mean a JOCK celebrating winning the biggest contest his sport created said the SAME word Cheney said casually and snidely to Leahy on the floor of the US Seanate….OMG
clutch my pearls

btw. the jock didn’t have a wardrobe malfunction and show a nipple for a hundreth of a second…cuz then i’d have to stop watching football all together, and write every sponsor.

GET A LIFE!

mark   November 1st, 2008 - 2:22 pm

EXACTLY what age do you suppose every child in America has heard F***?

I’m guessing between 3 and 6

months

Neal E   November 1st, 2008 - 2:53 pm

You are all wrong! He said “World Phucking Champions!”

Their IS a difference.

Rob   November 1st, 2008 - 3:09 pm

Well, I used to admire Chase Utley. Now I have lost all respect for him. He is nothing but an overgrown adolescent. It was an arrogant display of vulgarity and immaturity that should offend any decent human being.

kenny g   November 1st, 2008 - 3:24 pm

If that turned you off to Chase Utley, then it sounds like you never knew who he was and that you were never really an admirer.

anon   November 1st, 2008 - 3:28 pm

He’ll be guest speaker at Toastmasters next week.

Augustine   November 1st, 2008 - 3:33 pm

What a pig. And the pig crowd cheered its approval. A pox on them all.

Scott   November 1st, 2008 - 3:38 pm

This is the guy that I once said was my favorite Phillie. Once said. I’m so disappointed and very let down. Utley, if my 3-year old daughter didn’t love her Phillies Utley shirt so much, I’d burn it. Way to trash a monumental event in Phillies history, you pig. Maybe I can find a Victorino shirt for my daughter. Foul-mouthed idiots like you do not deserve the honor of being worn on my little girl’s back.

Utley, you owe Phillies fans (who don’t cheer you on for this kind of low-life, disgusting behavior) a huge apology. Until you do apologize, you are nothing better than a PIG.

Dayum Right   November 1st, 2008 - 4:13 pm

What a class act. World Class Moron is more like it.

30 years from now when his grandkids are sitting on his lap I hope he repeats the phrase.

What an idiot. I hope he is on his way to “didneyland.” Maybe he can spout some obscenities while standing in line for “It’s a Small World Afterall.”

Mark is Gay?   November 1st, 2008 - 4:13 pm

Hey Mark…. You’re gay!

Father Teresa   November 1st, 2008 - 4:30 pm

What did the show-off do after this piece of work? Did he go to a school to teach kids how to do drugs and hire hookers? Break crucifixes for shock effect? What a hero to the kids you are, dude! You should be f**ckin’ proud of yourself, trying to be Mr. Style with no substance. It’s a game, dude, and you’re no “champion” by any definition! Now sail on home in your Lamborghini and wash your mouth out with steroids!

Tom Dockery   November 1st, 2008 - 4:32 pm

This is mild language compared to what te Phillies were being called by those third world Met fans at Shea Stadium.

Bluetone   November 1st, 2008 - 4:33 pm

Actually, American f-ing champions.

Ringo   November 1st, 2008 - 5:05 pm

Some things are just wrong, and don’t need any exposition. Now I wish I could go back and root for the Rays instead.

Stan   November 1st, 2008 - 5:16 pm

Utley is a punk kid. A punk with a teenage brain. He speaks before he thinks, just like an ignorant punk teenager. He desrebes all the bad press he gets, and then some. Punk!

mark   November 1st, 2008 - 5:45 pm

hey you! quit caliing me gay! or i’ll hit you with my obama dildo. oh wait, thimble.

Eric   November 1st, 2008 - 6:03 pm

He should be made to publicly apologize? I’m sure the MLB will fine him, I’m sure the FCC may get in on the act with the TV and radio stations. You heard the crowd, he knows the fans. Golly gee, it’s Philadelphia for goodness sake! It’s just a word people, get over it!

Lorriepoo   November 1st, 2008 - 9:13 pm

I was disappointed he made that gaffe at a celebration that should have done Philly proud. Instead, he came off like a low life buffoon and don’t say it’s that he is young, punk kid, etc. I have kids and I know I raised them better than that, thank God.

TheTruth   November 2nd, 2008 - 1:06 am

Totally boorish behavior. Sadly, too indicitave of the times. Not to make everything about politics… but didn’t we see the messiah to be “flip-off” Hillary Clinton? Gutter-jive.

CLEAN UP YOUR ACT   November 2nd, 2008 - 3:51 am

Why has America become so COARSE? WHOM does it serve? (SATAN????)

Above, someone wrote: “the league should fine him and make him do a public apology…he should be made an example of ….”

ABSOLUTELY! It is time to CLEAN UP YOUR ACT, AMERICA! (And that includes ALL of us.)

ihatethephillies   November 5th, 2008 - 12:51 pm

He fits right in with the fans.
