So, what Obama and Oprah produced here was a thirty-minute performance of Obama reading from his teleprompter, complete with finger-pointing and fist-shaking at the world.

And that’s not all, but that’s just for starters. Obama clearly is attempting to cover his tracks and to promote himself using a fictitious personality and past (sheep herder father that wasn’t, poor college student who wasn’t either, birth circumstances that aren’t, Indonesian citizenship he’s tried to deny, same as to Kenyan citizenship he lied about, etc.).
As to Ayers, Obama associated with Ayers for far longer than the later Chicago years, and certainly had ample possible connections with him while at Columbia. Which is why Obama won’t discuss his years at Columbia, almost certainly.

I look at Obama’s ambition as very dangerous to America. The man has received millions of dollars from unreported sources all over the world, this commercial cost him multi-millions of dollars, yet he lets his own relatives starve in huts and ghettos. I’ve already voted (McCain) and I just wanted to see what all the hoopla was about this video. Maybe because I watched this late at night when I couldn’t sleep but I wasn’t my normal, cynical self so I decided to share my thoughts.
Beautiful video but too long. I couldn’t finish watching it. The prime-time airing reminds of Obama broken promise on campaign financing.
I heard Oprah offered to help in the production of the video. Did she?
The video was nice, yet I don’t think it will sway voters one way or the other.
The scenes with Obama in an office (which looks like the president’s office) seems presumptive and arrogant (reminiscent of the greek columns). I’m surprised they didn’t show him in a more intimate setting such as at home or even in his front yard or on his front porch.
I think this would have been better distributed online than being aired on prime time. Its kind of like being forced to watch a late night ultra-long infomercial.
The video opens with several beautiful and inspiring scenes and stirring words from Obama about hope, optimism and strength yet the video then gets depressing and paints a picture of American families struggling to survive. As I didn’t finish the video I don’t know if it switched gears to emphasize the strengths and greatness of America. I hope it did. I
‘m a patriot and I hate to see American painted in a weak and pathetic manner. We are a strong people who need strong leaders and I wished he would have presented us as such.
Finally, I think the Obama campaign would have been better served by airing several inspiring trailers to get people excited about the video and then showing the video online.
I think the buying up of the prime-time slots was a political foul ball with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th inning.
