Look at your average infomercial product. The thinking person questions why such an *Amazing* and *Miraculous* product can’t be successful using tried and true distribution channels. Miracle Orange Glo (sic) works like magic, but it costs $19.99 per bottle. Yes, you will get a second bottle free if you call right now, but it still sells for $19.99 plus the $5 shipping and handling. Oddly enough, there is a similar cleaner at your basic mass merchandiser for $3.99 that does the same job, if not better. The ignorant are wowed by the power of the infomercial and are willing to pay a high price for the product.

(Unless the show is operated at a loss, but either way they are still better off canceling the pregame. One half hour of television is worth ad-revenue a show in that time slot would have otherwise generated + premium the network will charge.

I don’t think that this extends to McCain/Palin and that many of his other supporters endorse this, however. In fact, I am sure that it does not.
The problem I have is that Mr. McCain has been somewhat evasive regarding how he and his running mate view some issues that could affect us all. For example, he has endorsed the concept of supporting stem cell research without (conveniently) specifying whether or not that would include EMBRYONIC stem cells. THAT is a key distinction and should be noted. Gov. Palin doesn’t seem to know anything about science at all. She states that, “Evolution should be taught in schools”. THAT was NEVER an issue, Ms. Palin. It has already been established that it should. The issue is whether or not Creationism should be taught in a scientific setting. I wonder what her views on THAT are. She seems to think that studying the genetics of fruit flies is a frivolous exercise as well. I get the distinct feeling that she neither understands nor appreciates science at all. Why is this important? Because she may eventually be in a position to determine whether or not some of these programs receive funding and that IS important.
