AP: U.S. military helicopters launched an extremely rare attack Sunday on Syrian territory close to the border with Iraq, killing eight people in a strike the government in Damascus condemned as "serious aggression."

Syria is in the process of starting peace talks with Israel, which are of huge importance. Why would 4 helicopters violate Syrian airspace and kill 7 people to catch just one smuggler at this time? Is it worth the risk?

Why should Syria bother talking to Israel when its ally is attacking the country? Plus, what’s the difference between the US attacking inside Syria and Russia attacking inside Georgia? Doesn’t anyone smell the double standards?
