Dem Chairman: ‘A Lot of Very Rich People Out There Whom We Can Tax’

"Yes, I believe later on there should be tax increases. Speaking personally, I think there are a lot of very rich people out there whom we can tax at a point down the road and recover some of this money."

Barney Frank is a good example, America, of the socialist/communistic “new” Democrat and supporter of the “Messiah of Islam”.

This is the man, America, that helped cause the financial crisis we are in.

He headed the committee that heard testimony of why we should do something to ward off the pending collapse of Fannie and Freddie. He said, as head of the committee, nothing wrong here…Frannie and Freddie fine!

But what we didn’t know, America, is that Barney had a “boyfriend” at Fannie and didn’t want to upset the apple cart with his “lover”. He and other of the socialist/communistic “new” Democrats also had their hands in the cookie jar at Fannie and Freddi and didn’t want their gravy train stopped!

They didn’t care about America, they didn’t care that they were warned repeatedly by economists, bankers, Senators trying to pass legislation to stop it (President Elect McCain was one of those Senators) and repeated attempts by President Bush to do something and do something now.

The Congress under the leadership of Speaker of the failed Democratic House – Marie Antoinette – Pelosi and her cronies, Frank, Reid, Dodd and Schumer to name just a few, would do nothing…nothing…America…to put a halt to the impending danger about to befall our financial community.

Barney Frank needs to go…and his cronies that brought this on America…need to go…clean house…America…of these slugs!

They all belong to the socialist/communistic “new” democrats, the “do nothing” Congress that has “done nothing” but play “partisan” politics with our lives and our economy.

Get rid of them now! If they are your representatives, vote them out. I myself voted straight Republican last week to get rid of as many of them as possible.

President Elect McCain needs a Congress that will work with him…not against him…we need things done and we need a Congress that will work with him to get them done!

GOD BLESS AMERICA THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE…AND WE WANT TO KEEP IT THAT WAY!

VOTER REVOLUTION HERE AND NOW!

Eileen, Do you have your all caps closing saying on your clipboard so you can paste it? I would hate for you to have to keep typing it out over and over.

LittleLamb   October 21st, 2008 - 9:17 am

According to the GAO we are 52 TRILLION dollars in debt. If you add up ALL of the money from EVERY billionaire in the WORLD, it only comes to about 5 Trillion dollars. I have yet to see one of these idiots explain how taxes are going to solve a 52 TRILLION dollar problem.

Eagle Eye   October 21st, 2008 - 9:26 am

Liberal leadership at it’s best, attack the people that provide the job’s.

Alice Walton   October 21st, 2008 - 9:48 am

OK. Of the $20,000,000,000 in personal wealth that I inherited and never worked for, my responsibility as a taxpayer is…zero. My Crystal Bridges Museum and $2.7 million for the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth campaign to crap on John Kerry were taxes enough. So in the spirit of defending this country, you can all go to hell.

Question to the Left:

Name four failed government programs you are willing to end to reduce spending?

I’ll bet they will not even come up with two.

Mac-101   October 21st, 2008 - 10:24 am

Under the present tax code the inherited super rich got trust funds so as not to pay taxes on. Sen Kerry had 20 some trusts from Heinz. One alone was 45 million a year. Lord only knows how much the other are. Then the Uber rich use the 67,000 pages of tax codes evebn the IRS and the writer, US Rep Charlie Rangle doesn’t even understand, to reduce their taxes below the marginal rate.

The only ones who will pay more taxes are the self employed Small Business person and the EARNED INCOME ie wage earner.

We need the FAIR TAX now, all 66 pages. It would solve MANY econ problems now. Welfare, Investment ,inproved business pratices, keep AMerican business in the US, consumption and savings rates, imports, etc! But NO, way too many special interests!

The Panamanian Swamp Weasel   October 21st, 2008 - 10:24 am

1. The war in Iraq.

2. Oil company subsidies.

3. Other corporate subsidies such as those to the banks or Walmart.

4. Foreign aid to Israel.

5. Subsidizing off-shoring of American manufacturing jobs.

6. Department of Commerce

7. Bush White House budget.

Coo Kuu   October 21st, 2008 - 10:33 am

Flyoverman…You’ve set yourself up with a trick question. The left would claim, with the exception of the Vietnam & Iraq wars, that there are NO failed govt programs. As long as a govt program is in existence, the left are ever hopeful that they’ll get a check in the mail. If there was a govt program that shut down because of lack of funds, the Left would blame it on the stinginess of the Right, and then push for an increase in taxes to revive the program.

McCain/Palin ‘08

Coo Kuu   October 21st, 2008 - 10:40 am

Thank you “Panamanian Swamp Weasel”…you are correct.

Thanks for pointing out to me that any government programs that DO NOT give the Left money are considered failures. No check in the mail equals failure.

Kooks-r-U   October 21st, 2008 - 10:50 am

I didn’t give to Obama because I was afraid he would fail, I gave because I am *terrified* that we may someday use the phrase “President Palin”

She is a disaster. Completely unqualified. Ignorant of even her own ignorance, but not the least bit afraid to abuse all the power she has available for emotional reasons. We must never ever give her the lauch codes to the ICBMs.

What possible use would President Palin be to a venture capitalist in Silicon Valley? Or to the head of a biotechnology firm?

True, McCain has succeded in “seperating the right wing from the kooks” as William F Buckley used to say, but the trouble is he kept the kooks!

The sensible right wants a pragmatic person who *understands* modern technology, market forces and the need to foster inovation if we are to create good jobs at home.

A moderate pro-business republican wants a leader who understands that global warming is not just an environmental threat, it is also a public health, national security and economic threat.

On those subjects Obama beats McCain and Biden beats (god help her) Palin.

The sensible pro-inovative-business wing of the republican party has *HAD* it with Terry Schiavo, Gay Marriage, Flag Burning, and robo calls about Terry Ayers.

Everyone knows those issues are crap. They are hauled out of the freezer and warmed over whenever the lunatic right needs to drown out serious thoughtful discussion of the issues.

THAT is why I gave to Obama. Every time I see another truely offensive peice of kook speak, I write another check to Obama.

Together we can make sure these negative and divisive attacks don’t affect this election.

Thanks for your help.

Elizabeth Scott   October 21st, 2008 - 10:55 am

Where are the thinking people of this great nation? I am for voting all of the Congress out the front door! Their poll results show that the vast majority of Americans disapprove of their performance, yet they still continue to vote these incompetents and crooks into office! Absolutely unbelievable! If any of you desires something positive to do in lieu of the impending doom I foresee with an Obama presidency, I encourage you to pray for the protective hand of God to shield this country before it is too late. I, for one, look into my grandchildrens’ eyes and wonder if they will even know someday what a great fine and moral place the USA once was. Wake up out there!

Barney Franks got pulled into Fannie Mae by leaders of Fannie Mae talking some top gay guy at Fannie Mae into bedding down with him. KGB used to pull these kind of tricks all the time. Sex is a very commonly used weapon to gain influence. In any case, Fannie Mae used sex, money, and promises of additional power and glory to keep the weak willed democrats covering up for them.

Barney Frank epitomizes the downfall of our economic system. He sold out for sex. Obama sold out for personal glory. Dodds sold out for money.

Democrats are all sellouts and they chose themselves first over nation. The evidence is opening up and it was all self-serving democrats that got us into this mess.

Time and time again, Republicans would spot the economic problems and try to stop them but the democrats had too many things riding on it personally so they let the American public pay for their own personal weaknesses.

Sex, money, power, glory. And the king of the glory hogs is Obama. The blind leading the blind and the blind voters will end up following into the ditch. Or in this case, they will be found falling off of a very tall cliff.

KMichaels   October 21st, 2008 - 11:16 am

Biden vs Palin?

Palin is based on correct underlying principals and a record of fighting for the people.

Biden is based on personal glory, socialism, and fighting against the people.

I will choose Sarah Palin over the good ole boy biden anytime and anyplace.

You dont need 30 years of experience suckering the American public to be a good leader.

What you need is a kind heart, a tough get things done spirit and being based on solid principals of fairness, justice and direction.
Again, biden has none of these and Sarah Palin is overflowing with them.

To the idiot who posted Alice Walton- the death tax on even a small estate at that time was 46%. Hell you made the money you were taxed. You invested the money you were taxed. You give the money to your family you are taxed again. Don’t worry it is going to go back up to 46%. Why are poeople so pissed at the rich? Your life is much better becuase of rich people. don’t think so go to your garage and built an Ipod from scratch. But that damn Steve Jobs is rich.

The bad thing is this guy (Frank) and the rest of the Dumbocrats will get elected again because people thing for some reason they have their best interest at heart. I would certainly hope and pray people wise up and smell the coffee before we Elect the Second coming of the Carter administration. IF Obama wants to be like Carter, maybe he can go and build houses with him instead of trying to ruin the country.

IrishKay   October 21st, 2008 - 1:40 pm

MEMO TO ALL WHO HAVE EARNED THEIR MONEY THROUGH CAPITALISM – PREPARE TO GET ROBBED! THE DEMOCRATS ARE TARGETING ‘ANYONE’ WHO HAS EARNED ANYTHING AND ARE GOING TO GIVE IT TO THOSE STANDING IN LINE WAITING WITH THEIR HAND OUT! BIG BUSINESS IS ON NOTICE – BEFORE OBAMA GETS IN THE WHITE HOUSE-MOVE YOUR BUSINESSES AND YOUR JOBS OVERSEAS – HURRY UP, DON’T DELAY- YOU CREATED THESE BUSINESSES, THESE JOBS, THE DEMOCRATS ARE GOING TO STEAL IT AWAY FROM YOU – YOU HEARD IT HERE, RIGHT OUT OF THEIR OWN SELF-RIGHTOUS MOUTHS! THEY ARE GOING TO PUT AMERICA INTO A DEPRESSION, PROBABLY BEFORE CHRISTMAS!

IrishKay   October 21st, 2008 - 1:51 pm

You know something – I have been all over the net, all over the different news articles and their comments – I think the democrats are screwed! I know the media is lying about the polls – everywhere I go I find that people ARE NOT GOING TO VOTE FOR OBAMA!
People all over this country have realized he’s NOT GOOD FOR THIS COUNTRY – and that our way of life and liberty are being threatened and that the American people are voting with their feet-they are going to the polls to make sure that obama doesn’t become our president! The comments don’t lie! It’s what people really think, without the media spin!
Enjoy the freedom of the press while it lasts if you vote obama!

Cort   October 21st, 2008 - 1:56 pm

IrishKay,

I sure hope you are right. With Frank spewing a Tax the Rich rant to Biden putting his foot in his mouth at every turn. I don’t see how anyone in their right mind would want to even entertain the idea of voting for Obama. I have to say, Bush was not my first choice for President the first time, and I really wasn’t sure about McCain until he actually picked Palin. The Democrats and the left attack her on everything but the issues, because her record is outstanding and they have no fight against a politician that has over an 80% approval rating. They would rather talk about her talking funny and her hair and how she winks and this and that.

Neal E   October 21st, 2008 - 2:28 pm

“Recover some of this money” How do you recover something that wasn’t yours to begin with?

Tax and spend big liberal government is alive and well.

Stuff it in your mattress my friends, they are coming for your wallet the next go-round!

Clinger   October 21st, 2008 - 2:50 pm

They should “recover” the money from the people who took it like Barney Frank, Chuck Shummer, Chris Dodd, and all the rest of the -bergs, -baums, -steins, -mans, -spans. They want 800 billion to spend without oversight. It’s like Wanda Sykes says: oversight my a$$, they should get receipts for every nickel.

Responsibility

I long to accomplish a great and noble tasks, but it is my chief duty to accomplish humble tasks as though they were great and noble. The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also by the aggregate of the tiny pushes of each honest worker.
— Helen Keller

I want to live in a country where work, initiative, innovation, creativity and determination are rewarded, where the able and willing can earn what they can, and keep what they earn. No government should ever reward those unwilling to carry their own weight. And those who take money by fraud should be held accountable for their actions. Taking more (higher taxation percentage rate) from the “rich”, those who know how to produce, to give to the “poor”, and those who can only consume, is not freedom or liberty. JFK once said, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” He almost had it right. What should be said is, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do to take responsibility for your own welfare.” Only this can be the foundation for a truly free society. In the United States, anyone who wants more money is perfectly free to go out and earn it, to the extent of their talent and perseverance.

I want to live in a society that doesn’t expect the government to take care of all its problems. I want to live in a society where people freely help those in need. But voluntarily, not as government mandate. I believe that if we were not taxed so heavily, if we could keep more of what we earned, then people would want to be more helpful, and would be able to be more helpful, and we would then more freely give to charities and churches, so our neighbors in need, whether next door or across the country, can get help that is actually helpful. This can only be done with a smaller, less intrusive, government. It can not be accomplished with a socialist welfare system that helps perpetuate the problems of vast numbers of the needy, and brings the overall standard of living down to the lowest common denominator.

Good parents teach their children how to provide for themselves and to spend no more than they have. The Liberal Left policies of Obama would be like bad parenting, in essence telling society they don’t have to provide for themselves, they can just get what they need from those who do. In no way could this possibly be construed as true freedom or liberty. While the Liberal Left’s policies sometimes sound good on the surface, deeper scrutiny shows they cannot possibly work in the long run (over-taxing those who produce jobs can only lead to fewer jobs; over-taxing everyone can only lead to economic stagnation). Senator McCain wants to lower both taxes and spending. And this is the only way America can keep its place in the world as the economic leader.

Let’s get America back to basics: where each citizen carries his or her own weight and does not expect their neighbors to do for them what they should do for themselves. Let us not be a burden to each other any more. Let us not allow socialism any more into the fabric of our society.

Neal E   October 21st, 2008 - 5:45 pm

JP – It’s the Oprah/Marlo Thomas/Phil Donahue “Not your fault” mentality. It was your parents, your school, your environment…but not you!

That is a big reason why our society is this way.

Response:

How true. I understand Mr. Obama wants to bring back the death tax at least at a 40% level even on small estates. Let’s get this straight… A small business owner loses about half is income to taxes. Then when he passes on, the accumulated fruits of his labor, which he busted his life to acheive is taxed again, close to 50%, leaving roughly only 1 dollar out of every 4 the man earned to his family.

I don’t know about you, but paying any government 3 out of every 4 one earns is in fact slavery, grand theft, robbery and an insult to working people at all levels.

The Romans knew that if they taxed people too much they would rebel, leave or commit fraud. Our arrogant politicians apparently do not learn the lessons of history and are bound to repeat the same mistakes again.

We should ask ourselves a most important question, what exactly are we working people getting for this money that is extracted from us by the threat of force? I think we’re getting a really raw deal.

Much like a spendthrift child who has squandered his allowance on candy, a parent does not reward him by giving him more money. The allowance should be cut back until he learns his lesson to be more prudent about hard earned money. We have to do the same with spendthrift politicians. I say, don’t even feed them. Let them work off their bribes and leave the rest of us alone.

Disgusting!

ABOUT THE STOCK MARKET……..

Once upon a time in a place overrun with monkeys, a man
appeared and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for
$10 each. The villagers, seeing that there were many monkeys around,
went out to the forest, and started catching them.
The man bought thousands at $10 and as supply started to
diminish, they became harder to catch, so the villagers stopped their
effort. The man then announced that he would now pay $20 for each
one.

This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys
again. But soon the supply diminished even further and
they were ever harder to catch, so people started going back to their
farms and forgot about monkey catching. The man increased his price to $25 each
and the supply of monkeys became so sparse that it was an effort to even see a monkey,
much less catch one.
The man now announced that he would buy monkeys for $50!
However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant
would now buy on his behalf.

While the man was away the assistant told the villagers.
‘Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has bought. I
will sell them to you at $35 each and when the man returns from the city,
you can sell them to him for $50 each.’
The villagers rounded up all their savings and bought all the monkeys.
They never saw the man or his assistant again and once again there were
monkeys everywhere.
Now you have a better understanding of how the stock market works.
